IVA was my school of choice for my son, because LB Unified refused to let my son attend his home school when we moved to another part of Long Beach. LBUSD also made the school selection and enrollment process so much more difficult that I decided to pull my child out altogether. Save the drama for your mama. In comparison, IVA had an easy enrollment and application process. I was able to contact someone from the school every time I had a question or concern. The student-teacher ratio is something LBUSD has historically fallen short on, and with IVA teachers knew my son by name. The learning environment became a small community built on pillars of intellectual virtues. As a parent, I appreciated the one-on-one communication from my child's instructors. I also enjoyed the social gatherings of parents, students and instructors, when I did have time to participate. Really, it's a private school feel without the price tag. My son was afforded opportunities he would have never had experienced in LBUSD as far as athletics and extracurricular activities such as weight lifting club, photography, and yearbook committee. Geographically, the area of the school is a little rough, but the school does have a nice outdoor area in the back for student activities away from the "distractions" of LB Blvd.

I have even told other disabled actors and they are jealous of this completely accessible space. I feel like a lot of people go to improv schools as a springboard and people need to stop looking for that in their careers and get on a surfboard and enjoy the ride, Richard is an incredible teacher will help you handle the waves and make sure you enjoy the ride but you will come back as a better surfer or whatever it is you want to get out of your experience at playful stage. I often hear stories of former famous improv people or mentors who say I had to do work study, I had to get scholarships, or do payment plans. I have been offered some things that put a dent in other places but I have had to make hard choices of not going to a school or program because of money. Richard is the first school/person to say I don't want you to miss out because of that and I understand lets do a payment plan. He is also very kind about missed classes, how you are feeling that day, or even what is going on in your life I think with other places this can add pressure and they don't care about these things to have someone who just really understand hey you love this but life is hard sometimes is incredible. Its an fun learning growing community building space and I am so grateful for Richard and this community for all it has given me.

The instructors do a fantastic job. Had no idea I could retain so much information in such a short time frame before this class. Shoutout to Matt and Vince. This class is totally doable for anyone who is willing to work hard and put the time in! I'm a humanities major who had zero medical experience prior to this. I still passed everything first try, including the NREMT. I think a lot of the negative reviews here lack perspective. However stressful this class is, actually working the job is definitely more so, especially if you want to do 911. Here's some advice, though-- don't take the accelerated program if you need to work or attend school at the same time. Excuses are not accepted here. If you like dogs, there's a giant one named Bourbon. If you're allergic to dogs, either bring medicine or consider going elsewhere. Overall, highly recommend.

Matt and a few other instructors make it seem like its a burden to have to help students. A lot of the equipment is also old and broken and students are then blamed for it. I honestly did not feel like anyone at CIEMT wanted me to succeed. The entire experience felt like I was being hazed. Being yelled at and demeaned is not a bug but a feature of CIEMT. Do not attend this school if you want to have a good experience learning. I promise you that you will regret it. Do not be fooled by the low program cost. I ended up taking another EMT class at UCLA and I passed without any issues. Please take your hard earned money elsewhere.

Monica is incredibly patient and intentional in the way she teaches. I could clearly see her introducing new skills step by step, making sure he understood, and encouraging him the entire time. What stood out most was how engaged he was. He was completely attentive, listening closely, and genuinely excited to try what she was teaching him. It is amazing to watch his confidence grow in the water, and I truly believe Monica deserves a lot of credit for that. She takes her time, communicates clearly, and creates an environment where kids feel safe and motivated to improve. If you are looking for a swim instructor who is skilled, patient, and truly invested in her students' progress, Monica is outstanding. We are so grateful for her!

Our daughter was initially extremely afraid and apprehensive getting used to her head under water. She cried bloody murder the entire first week. It was admittedly very difficult having to hear her scream the entire 15 minutes, but trust the process! Alex was so good with her and earned her trust. By the end of the second Monday, she got out of the water and exclaimed how much she loved swimming. I was shocked! Something just clicked. Not only did she get over her fear of having her head in the water, she loved it. She was able to roll, float on her back, and kick within the second week. She spent the third week refining skills and feeling more comfortable under water. We are so incredibly proud of the progress she's made in such a short amount of time. And while we feel so much better about the skills she's picked up, nothing can beat the confidence and resilience she's built along the way. Thanks, Teacher Alex!

After pick up she basically said she didn't learn anything and mostly felt like she played with legos the whole time. I called them to discuss a refund because we were specifically guided towards taking this class with an age range of 5-8 yo vs 8-14 yo when we called prior to signing her up. They told us that she would be with kids close to her age in this course. She's 8 and is with mostly 5-6 year olds! She complained about the noise level in the class and laptops being broken and out of battery. One of the workers basically said they have to cater to the younger kids learning curve. The owner was "too busy to talk to me" when I called but offered other courses. That's a fine option but my daughter starts school in a week and the other camps are not something my daughter would be in to. Also the building is old and there was a homeless man smoking near the door when I picked her up. She will not be returning. No thank you, I don't need a sitter. The purpose was for her to learn and be exposed something new. . I have called them multiple times with no luck in speaking w owner and have also emailed them.
