Great driving school! Oscar was a good instructor that taught me everything I needed to know. I passed my driving test the first time.

I called and paid for my daughter's class on Saturday. On Tuesday my card was declined when I tried to use it. When I called my bank, they informed me I was charged $275.00 four times for $1,100.00! I contacted Eddie who explained they were having connection problems and they ran it multiple times. He also said it would take 7-10 days for them to reverse this! read more

I came into it with a lot of anxiety but finished each lesson with much more confidence and ended up passing my drive test on the first try and definitely attribute that to taking these lessons read more

Kay-1 Driving School is the best! I had Jose as an instructor for the month of June and he was so helpful and patient.

We used Kay-1 with my daughter and had a great experience. My sons experience was absolutely terrible. We signed him up for behind the wheel training, set a date and I paid for the service. I explained to the person who we were working with that he has a speech and language disorder and can be nervous with people that he doesn't know because of it. I was told that was fine. He went out for his first lesson and when he returned we were told by Jose that he needed a little more practice (10 hours) before going out again. Since up until that first lesson he hadn't been behind the wheel of a car we totally understood and agreed. Two days later I received a phone call from Eddie saying that they can't teach my son because... reasons that were never made entirely clear but he did infer that my child doesn't know his right from left and that he wasn't smart enough to drive. I explained what Jose told us, that my kid needed a little more independent practice and Eddie kept insisting that he didn't want my child in his program. I explained to him that his job is to teach people how to drive and don't students come to him with varying degrees of experience and furthermore it's incredibly ableist and opens him up to a lawsuit by refusing service to a student because of a speech and anxiety disorder. I insisted I wanted my entire fee back (Eddie initially offered to refund two days which is nonsense) and then, interestingly enough, he called me back and left a message saying that he spoke with his team and offered to take my son out himself. I did not reply as I was beyond insulted at his assertion that my child was incapable of learning to drive. I did however get my full refund which is why they have two stars instead of the one required to post this review. So, if you or your child at ALL deviate from the norm even a little bit, or you if find, ableist, regressive, policies and actions unacceptable for you or your family, find another driving school. There's plenty to choose from that won't insult your kid or you. read more

We had a great experience with Kay-1 driving school. From the time I called to get information Tony was very polite and accommodating. My son really enjoyed his 6 hrs of behind the wheel instruction with Jose. Jose made it fun while still being very informative and teaching my son everything he needed to know. He passed his test the 1st time with flying colors! I would give Jose, Tony and Kay-1 10 stars if I was an option. Don't go anywhere else! read more

Worst driving experience ever. I ordered a set of classes from Kay-1 and it was a terrible experience. I tried to write a review shortly afterwards, but it seems it was erased? So I'm rewriting one. My "instructor" John was extremely unprofessional and rude. He didn't really "instruct" me at all. Just told me what streets to turn on and yelled at me when I made the slightest mistake, of which there were many since I had very little previous experience. Basically all of our sessions consisted of him making me drive him to get his dry cleaning, prescriptions, etc. I literally paid this company just to be treated like a chauffeur. He made me drive on the freeway twice, the first time wasn't too bad. The second time he ordered me to take my hands of the wheel and rest them on my lap while we were going 60 mph on a busy freeway. It was a bizarre and terrifying experience. I can't give more than one star because of my experience with this company, but other friends who have also used this company and had competent instructors told me they had a good experience. The company itself isn't terrible, but your experience will vary greatly depending on your instructor. read more

And explained the most important things to do while driving with a passion. He made me feel very relaxed which resulted in an awesome stress free learning experience. Tony is professional and very helpful. He works with you and your schedule. I was assigned Susan as my instructor and as nervous as I was when practicing at first she was able to talk me through the driving lesson, gave me tips on what to do and what not to do. I enjoyed my time with Kay-1 and so sad to be leaving them... But hey! Susan did such great lessons that I passed the behind the wheel within the one try! I took 10 hour lessons all together. Every time I thought I was ready Susan would report to Tony that I wasn't quite ready just yet so I took her advice and waited until she suggests I was ready. I am so glad I waited! We hired Kay-1 to do my daughter's drivers training and then, when she truly unluckily failed her test, we hired them again to do a little refresher course. They used the sheet the DMV had "graded" her on and fixed each little issue. She passed the next test with flying colors. Rightly or not, the DMV feels like an enemy but Kay-1 instructors are so delightful. It's truly like you have someone on your side through what is, for a teen, quite a stressful situation. They are totally easy to work with, super quick to get in touch with and the instructors are kind and patient. Would recommend this Driving school with no reservations. An excellent business. Before Kay 1, I tried other driving schools but all failed with providing the quality service and comfortability I needed. My best friend brought her teenage daughter here and recommended this business to me. I was a bit timid to start the process of behind the wheel training due to bad experiences in the past however Tony and Eddie reassured me that I would be in good hands with their licensed instructors. Tony was very helpful with coordinating my behind the wheel training with my hectic work schedule. They assigned instructor Scott to me. He was very patient, friendly and showed me useful techniques to improve my driving skills. After I completed my 10 hours of training, I felt confident enough to take my driving test immediately. I took classes here about two years ago and I still remember how much I would dread them. My instructor was Christian. The car wasn't in very good condition and I didn't feel comfortable in it. The first time I got in my instructor assumed that I knew exactly what to do (even though I had never driven before and he knew that). He would yell (okay not yell but whenever he would talk to me it sounded very rude) at me whenever I messed up. About 1/5 of the time spent in the car was him actually teaching me stuff. The other 4/5 was me driving around places I didn't know and him talking about his life. He made me stop the car sometimes so he could talk about stuff. He also made me stop at a cigar shop so he could pick up cigars and soda. I was waiting in the car for about ten minutes... yeah idk if they're allowed to do that but I wouldn't recommend this place read more

I signed up my daughter for the 6 hour training. First two times things went well. Last lesson he showed up a little late, it was the lesson to drive at night. Lesson was supposed to be two hours, and she was dropped 15 minutes early. By the time I could get to the door to let her in the instructor was no where to be found. He didn't even wait to see if she got into the house, he had driven off as soon as she exited the vehicle, and it was dark outside. When I called the owner to discuss it, he explained that they get a five minute break for each hour, so it would be normal for them to be dropped off 10 minutes early. Besides the fact we lost about 20 minutes of the lesson, this wasn't explained up front. So buyer beware. He didn't seem to care. I wouldn't recommend, take your business elsewhere. read more

Kay 1 got us through difficult driving challenges with my adult daughter! She took awhile to learn because she did not drive while she was out of state at college. Our instructor Jack finally got her more confident with his patient approach and honed in on the things she had to practice to pass the driving test. Eddie is a wonderful driving counselor for parents and he seemed to know all the comforting things to tell this "nervous Nelly" mom who was always anxious! The fact is this driving experience can be really difficult for some kids and families -- Kay 1 is especially good at helping those young people learn to drive. Third time was the charm!! We almost did back flips in the DMV parking lot!! read more
