Seared Sea Scallops Seared Sea Scallops Char grilled Kurabota Pork Chop

Beautiful setting overlooking lake. Service was very good. The wedge salad for 15.50 was very small portion of shredded greens surrounded with a couple cherry tomatoes and sliced onion. Very overpriced. Pork chop was nice not sure on mashed potato they tasted similar to instant. Lobster well all I can say is look at picture that is $70 worth lot lobster...two very small tails. Server was outstanding. Crème Brûlée was pricey and very small. Bread pudding was the best every and nice size service. Sides with entree very small amount of green beans and squash. The company we were with made it worth it.

So excited to be back here it has been too long. Hubby ordered scallops and I had trout. He loved his but wasn't thrilled with mine not much taste. Service was wonderful and we had a locker Rose wine and a buttery Chardonnay. Nice jazz band playing in the bar so we stopped on the way out to listen. It was a lovely evening!

How nice to arrive 5 minutes early for our 7:15 PM reservation and our table was ready! We were seated on the Verandah porch overlooking a smooth, crystal clear lake. Our server, India, offered our party of four drinks and dinner specials and was friendly and attentive. The lobster picatta single lobster tail in a lemon buerre blanc with capers was expensive ($30) but delicious. ( FYI The lobster picatta main entree consists of 2 lobster tails and fresh vegetables for $64.) I could not decide between the Spicy Coconut Curry Shrimp or the Pan Seared Scallops so my friend and I ordered one of each and split the two- great choice as both were succulent and flavorful with Asian spices. Our husbands had the filet mignon and trout. When in western Carolina, the fresh trout is always a favorite and a good choice! The filet was cooked perfectly and was juicy and thick. Even though we were too full for dessert, we had to try the key lime tart in phyllo pastry with fresh berries to share for the table. It was light and full of refreshing key lime flavor. Our server offered to split the check by couples, which we appreciated without having to ask and avoiding the awkwardness of the check splitting process. We will be back and look forward to another lovely evening with great food and service at On the Verandah in Highlands.

Food and service was very good. I had the duck in my wife had the scallops both were cooked to perfection. Also enjoyed a really nice salad and the bread pudding for dessert was wonderful.

Lovely location overlooking the beautiful lake. It's the classic trade-off "location for taste." Food is OK---nothing to rave about...equal to a good coffee shop or chain restaurant priced 30% less. Prices are way too high for the ingredients and/or culinary art. Trout $28, chick breast $32. The key lime pastry was atrocious with overripe berries and kiwi. The filo pastry that's supposed to be delicate light sheets was a clogged cold lump. Good but overpriced wine selection and high service level.

It's such a beautiful and peaceful space to dine, especially with the amazing Spring and Fall temps they get there. We were with a party of 6 (plus a baby), and walked up without a reservation a bit late in the evening. We figured we'd try it and see if we could get in if it wasn't too late, and luckily enough, the hostess was kind enough to make it happen for us! The menu actually has a lot of variety for a wine garden - drinks and food wise. I started with the French onion soup and it was delicious. The Caesar salad was also quite yummy, but the meatloaf was the showstopper of the night! I am still dreaming of it now, and wish I could replicate it myself because it was that good and memorable! For dessert, I ordered the affogato which is their house made vanilla bean ice cream with an espresso shot and it was the perfect ending to the night! Our server was so attentive and kind, and constantly checked in on us and cleared our plates since the tables are a bit on the smaller side. I had an excellent experience all around!

The restaurant is located on the main street that runs through the town making it easy to find. Be sure to make a reservation as it fills up quickly. The staff we encountered during both visits were friendly and professional. The food was exceptional each visit. The eggplant parmigiana starter was tender and so flavorful. Three of the four of us ordered it on the second visit as it was that good. The beef carpaccio and meatball starter were also enjoyed. For entrees we had the trout Frances, stuffed halibut special, the gnocchi special, the mushroom tortellini and the linguine pescatore. All dishes were delcious while the trout Frances, mushroom tortellini and linguine pescatore were our favorites. It is worth mentioning their gnocchi could not have been better prepared as it was like a fluffy pillow as gnocchi should be. Had it been paired with the truffle sauce from the mushroom tortellini then it would have been perfection. For dessert, we sampled several ice creams, sorbets, the tiramisu and the Blueberry Coconut Layered cake. The raspberry sorbet and cappuccino Oreo gelato were the fan favorites for the dessert course. Ristorante Paoletti receives our highest recommendation as it is on point with offering a positive atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food.

Escargot was very good and it came with plenty of good bread. The ossobuco was fine, however, the lamb was bland and undercooked and the sauce seemed to belong to another dish - it closely resembled the sauce that came with the ossobuco - which was not appealing at all. The wine list is incredibly vast. The sommelier was called in too soon, so I did not have much of a chance to look at the list. Again, feeling rushed into having them make the selection for me. The wine selection was good after all - the price not so good. We were sat in a table that was too close to the bar and the passing of staff and patrons. not very romantic.

Four of us grabbed spots at the bar, ordered Aperol Spritzes, and immediately settled in. We shared the salad and the veggie pizza, and on our waitress's advice added pepperoni--and wow, was that the right move. I make pizza at home (yes, with an Ooni), and this is the kind of pie that makes you pause mid‑bite and say, "Okay... they know what they're doing."
