I have visited to purchase gifts for him, and my transactions have always been quick and easy. The staff is friendly and happy to answer questions. I have occasionally visited this shop over about last 8 years, buying various items & a bike for my son. Meanwhile I had also frequented another bike shop about a mile away, where I bought my own bike & had it serviced until now. I simply lost patience, trust and $$$ so decided to try OYLC for servicing my bike. I took my MTB to fix a flat. I read great reviews about this place but it was very disappointing for me. It took around 20 min. or so to fix the flat, a guy came out and said it's ready, told me it needed headset adjustment and asked if I wanted. I said ye sure, he said it's $10 btw. Took him about 10 seconds to tighten the headset with a wrench. I asked if my bike needed a tune up since I just got the bike used a few weeks ago. He said there's a 2 week wait. Now, I don't mind paying for good work, especially to support a local business. It just seemed like he was in a hurry and didn't really want to bother with anything else. Perhaps I had the wrong impression from reading all the nice reviews that I would get more helpful tips and what not from the bike shop since I just started riding. Maybe because I didn't purchase the bike there? I don't know but I don't think I would return either to purchase or for any other repairs. read more

My neighborhood bike shop rules! Drew and Derek know their shit. Often there are vanilla workshop bikes or firefly bikes hanging from their repair stands. They are quick with the fixes and sell high end parts^_^ great bike shop with proper knowledge. There are quite a few good bike shops and mechanics in Louisville, but Drew and his crew are second to NONE! They have expanded in recent months to offer an even more extensive selection of off-road, hybrid, and road bikes. They also have great accessories for affordable prices. Not to mention, Drew went out of his way for my partner who was looking for new wheels. Drew took the time to do research on wheels with her and when they couldn't find wheels that met her specifications -- HE BUILT THEM! Now she has custom wheels at a fraction of the cost. This bike shop tries to up sell to the point of ridiculous, which is why I won't bring my bike in for service there. Not a big deal but annoying. I did go in yesterday to buy a simple tube, they again tried to upsell based on a $10 minimum card limit. Again not a big deal, but I didn't need anything else so just decided to leave. As I was walking out the owner took the tube and threw it at the door at me as "Fu$k you very much" on his part for not buying there. I been in hundreds of bike shops, these guys are truly the worst. Go to Park Side or Bardstown Cyclery instead. Better service without the upsell and attitude. read more

Great bike shop and amazing experience! Great location near Phoenix Hill on Baxter Ave. The shop is owned and operated by two guys that both ride bicycles AND know the business. I was in the market for a road bike and Derek and Drew helped me through the entire process. They properly fit me so I'd have the correct size bicyle, and helped comparison shop between brands and price ranges. I received free maintenance with my purchase and they have been happy to take care of any needed adjustments or repairs. The shop seems to stay busy and all the serious riders bring their bikes here for maintenance. These guys definitely offer something special when it comes to bike shops in Louisville. read more

I took my antique bike here and got a quote for tires and was told I would not need need new tubes just new tires and that they would order them. They held my bike for maybe two days and were done, which was pretty quick! When I came to pick it up I was asked to pay more than I was quoted, cutting me short for my bills, due to them putting new tubes on after I was told it wouldn't need them. I just kind of went with it because they did straighten my fender for no additional cost, the tubes weren't too much more and they were really nice. After riding it ONCE my tire blew and would not hold air, due to tubing issue. I wasn't able to go back in and have them look at it because my bike was stolen. I can't hold it against them since they didn't get a chance to correct the issue. They seemed really friendly also so they are getting a three from me. Would have been a 5 if they hadn't charged me for tubes after telling me I didn't need em' and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have gotten a flat so soon. I don't know a lot about bikes and I'm new to this and they didn't seem condescending or rude to me. All in all I think these guys should be given a chance, they're a new business and everyone has their bad days. read more
