We went from being totally clueless on Day 1 to now ASA101 certified on Day 4 (we are far from pros, but we know what we're doing to enjoy sailing now ). John was our skipper who provided us sailboat training 101 as well as kept us entertained. He was a fantastic story teller. John is living the dream after graduate school and working in the corporate world, he decided to retire early and do what he loves, sailing. So inspiring and I hope I get to do the same, retire early, travel the world and learn culture through food. Each of us rotated navigating the sail and driving the sailboat. I must say coordination is definitely essential and good listening skills is a must as each of us got the opportunity to work as a team. After sailing, Spinnaker provided us with a wonderful bbq treat over at their conference center. It was delicious. I had the opportunity to get to know our team up close and personal, caught up with what they enjoy doing outside of work environment (tech), and it was a great way to share each other's passions. I highly recommend coming to Spinnaker for a company retreat, or simply take advantage of a family and friends get together. They provide lessons, group discounts including one on one, boat included, and you even get to sit next to their awesome skippers who will assist you to navigate the San Francisco Bay waters. Captain Winter answered his phone promptly and promised to give me a callback first as I was the first person who had contacted him about reserving the charter. He made good on his promise and we discussed some details -- ultimately, I went with a different option for my needs, but I felt great about the whole experience and could tell that he really knew what he was talking about. I have him on the top of my list for captains to contact for chartering in the future and highly recommend him without reservation to any others that are interested in getting out there for some fish! Plus, he is quite close by in Half Moon Bay meaning that you won't have to drive all the way up to SF for the charters there and deal with the traffic/attempting to find parking. He was knowledgeable, easy going and just patient. He told us what to expect prior to boarding, and during which made us so comfortable. He prepared us a simple lunch of cheese, smoked ham, radish and green onions but it felt like gourmet dishes aboard the Pit Viper (Captain Danny's boat)! We skirted around Angels Island and Alcatraz. Pit Viper was completely sanitized, he had on his masks the entire time and just wanted us to enjoy the day! Not to mention, we came home with more fish than we can eat! My father and I went out with Captain Danny to Farallon Island for a full day of fishing and we had one of the best days of our life. Danny is a very experienced & educated captain, has a great boat, top-notch fishing gear, and knows a lot of great spots no one else went to. Our boat was alone for the whole day. We caught our fishing limits. And most importantly, Danny is a super nice person - we had such an amazing time. Will definitely go out on the ocean with Danny again.

The Captain: I read that Captain Clark sailed around the world in that boat, so that gave me a lot of confidence in his skills as a captain. He was personable, knowledgeable and funny (ask him to tell you the sandwich story...it's hilarious)! The Boat: Gorgeous sailboat with a nicely shaded deck (but you could easily get out into the sun around the boat's front and back sides when you wanted to lay out). The downstairs rooms, kitchen and bathroom were all clean and comfortable. I was a tad nervous about using the bathroom before I went on the boat, seeing as I had no clue what to expect, but it was clean and fine w/ running water and everything. The Food and Wine: We had delicious snacks that were easily prepared for us, and while I didn't drink too much, I really enjoyed the wine that was served. The best part, however, was the BBQ when we docked (or anchored? not sure of the proper terminology) near Angel Island with the most AMAZING view of SF, the island and bay. The atmosphere: Considering we only traveled a few short miles from SF, I literally felt so relaxed, like I had been vacationing on the Cape for a week. I really liked the rocking of the boat and the calming yet exhilarating feeling when the sails caught the wind and took off. All in all, highly recommend for the lovely experience, the skills of the captain and the great time we all had!

We (six adults and a 4 month old baby) had a super day aboard the good ship Condesa. The wind was…read moreblowing about 25 knots and the water was choppy as we crossed San Francisco Bay. Condesa is very comfortable, the pilot house offering protection from the wind and spray. One of the "crew" said, after the voyage, that she had felt safer on this voyage than on any other sailboat. We docked on the lee side of Angel Island and hiked up to a point where there is a view of Golden Gate Bridge. Back on the boat a wonderful gourmet lunch was served with well paired local wines. Captain Beek is very personable and a great raconteur. He kept the party entertained with tales of his global circumnavigation. After lunch we sailed off the dock and completed our circumnavigation of Angel Island before setting course for the city. The Wine by Sail excursion is an excellent way for a small group to experience an adventure on San Francisco Bay, with some delicious eats and drinks thrown in. Great value for money!

We just went on the 4th of July dinner, dance watch fire works cruise on the bay. It was great. We…read morehave seen the Cabernet Sauvignon yacht docked in Alameda when we go walking along the shore but never really thought about looking into cruises. We boarded around 6:30 after getting checked in. The bars opened at 6:30 (2nd and 3rd deck) so it seemed like a good first stop upon boarding. Buffet dinner of chicken, hand cut prime rib, sauteed vegetables, salad, lemon rice, and cheese cake started just after 7. I had 2 helpings and cleared my plate both times. Delicious. Back to the bars. Both had beer, wine and spirits. The upstairs bar had the good tequila as well as more premium spirits. Around 9:30 we were in position off the San Francisco waterfront to watch the fireworks. The open top deck was perfect for viewing. It was somewhat clear earlier I the evening but of course the fog rolled in just in time for the festivities. It was still a good show. The DJ was playing tunes all night on the 3rd deck but the dancing really started after the fireworks. The crowd was mixed but everyone was pleasant. The over zealous clean up crew decided to grab our drinks while dancing. The bar crew replaced them even when the bar was technically closed. Huge props to them. Will definitely do this again. Maybe for fleet week when the planes are flying.

The other levels were mainly designated to food and photobooths. The boat drove all the way past the golden gate bridge from Alameda and back. The views were spectacular but the cruise itself was just okay. Pros: - Amazing views from the deck as well as all areas inside the boat. Really loved the route it was on. - Lemon bars which were slightly too sweet but still delicious. - Friendly waiters who were always asking us if we wanted any drinks and clearing the plates. Cons: - No elevator so it was hard to climb up and down the stairs in a long ball gown. - The bathrooms were tiny, not poofy dress friendly. - The food is actually terrible. Think grapes with saucy chicken, I don't know who thought of this option. - The dance floor was on the 3rd floor and while people jumped, it seemed like the ceiling tiles were about to break on the 2nd floor. Overall okay experience. Should have spent more time looking at the views instead of eating the food.
