Don returned my call shortly thereafter and arranged to come out to my house the following day. He arrived on time and listened as I told him the issues. He did a thorough inspection and said he didn't agree with the contractor. He showed me exactly what evidence he saw to contradict the contractor's assessment. Just to make sure - he did a complete inspection of our basement. He found some damage caused by a chipmunk and he was able to do a patch job to keep the chipmunk out of the basement. I paid for Don to set up traps and then to return a week later to seal up entry points. He never showed up for the second part. We did have a date and time, but he didn't show up. Then we set another date and time and he was a no-show again. I have left messages/texts and no answer. Unfortunately, I paid for both parts of the service from the beginning because he had such good ratings, but I've learned my lesson. read more

I was having problems getting rid of some bees. All the consumer bee killer sprays did absolutely nothing. Don took care of a bees nest for me. He was surprised how resilient these bees were, but gave it a few more applications and the next day the bees were gone! Don was very friendly, helpful, and punctual! He sprayed the yellow jacket nest that was in our house behind the siding and between the ground floor and basement ceiling. Then, after a few days, we still had yellow jackets, so he came back, extracted the nest, and cleaned up after himself. I was using Pointe Pest Control for 2 years, due to seeing black ants in my kitchen way back when. Then I noticed little moths would fly around in the house now and then. Pointe Pest Control came out at least a dozen times, with almost zero results. I would even joke to friends that they were planting insect eggs to hatch, so they'd have continuous business. Enter Don from Once Upon a Bug. He spent almost 2 HOURS examining the inside of my home, often on his hands and knees, sometimes on his stomach on the floor, examining with a flashlight every inch of the interior, including drawers, cabinets, ceilings, closets, even dried pinecones I'd kept from Christmas. He found MANY places where bugs had been (or still were), places that Pointe had never even touched. Then he started on the outside, which he also thoroughly searched. Before posting my honest review here on Yelp, I've purposely waited a week to see if any bugs would return, and I'm thrilled to say they have all disappeared. Don is superb! He was recommended by a friend over Rose. We had a few little mice and he was prompt to come over and address the issue. Then he came back a week later and caulked up everything. My wife was thrilled. It was evident to me how much time he spent being thorough going through the entire house. I'd never needed pest control until this summer which brought flying ants in numbers I couldn't control myself. My downstairs den began to look like "Grey Gardens." I also noted frass in a corner, suggesting carpenter ants. Based on several review sites, I called Bud. He came over quickly, thoroughly inspecting the various sites in my home to determine where the problems were. He sprayed for the flying ants along all surfaces. He also sprayed for the carpenter ants. They all died! Along the way, he pointed out signs of a leak above the drop tiles in the den. No sales pressure, just a job well done. Don is so wonderful! He is very thorough and passionate about his job. We had some cockroaches and he made sure that all areas were covered. He looked in every corner and hole and ensured that he did his due diligence of getting rid of them. Every area I asked him to look, he would check without hesitation - even behind the electrical outlet cover. He even taught me some tips and tricks on the side. Don is a very thorough exterminator. He takes time to analyze the specific problem, he fixes it, and comes back to make sure the problem has been fixed. My problem was with field mice. He closed up even the smallest of openings and left bait. After a couple of years I'm still mouse free. He also cleans up the areas that have been disturbed.
