I had a very positive experience with our inspector Robert Williams. He quickly diagnosed our issue and took care of the problem. This was after two other companies came out and wanted to charge an obscene amount of money to seal a vent on the side of our home where a bird was trying to take up residence. Great customer service! Very thorough, explained paperwork before requesting signature, made personal connections to self and community, and very accommodating during entire visit. Zero is my preferred choice for the Orkin office in Gurnee. Beware of overpriced quotes/contracts. I received an invoice for an area to be serviced with copper mesh to treat mice. The measurement on the invoice indicated that 84 linear feet of area was treated. When my husband and I measured the area that was actually treated, it was less than 20 feet. I called and spoke with management and asked for a more detailed invoice that broke down the "actual" cost (material and labor). Their service manager refused to share the information stating that I may have been a competitor. Note: This call was made after the service was performed. If I was the competitor, why would I hire them? As a consumer I have the right to that information. I found this rep to be very rude and condescending. We agreed to meet as I wanted him to see the work himself and explain how they can charge me for 84 feet of service when roughly 19 feet of the area was treated. Once there, he showed me a piece of paper that he said was emailed to me (I never receive it). On the paper, he stated that the actual measurement of the area to be treated was 51 feet. That's still quite a bit less than the invoiced price of 84 feet. He tried to pony and dance his way through explaining the cost ($1,216) and why it was justified. I have no problem paying (a fair price) for actual services completed. When I asked for him to submit an adjustment to the bill, he said there was nothing he could do. Pretty much leaving it up to me to follow up with corporate. Which is where I will be filing a grievance next along with the BBB and the state attorney's office. The Orkin office in Gurnee is a waste of money. I had two anthills in the backyard. For $250 they came out to treat the anthills in October. Come spring time these ants are back in both areas as if nothing happened. I called the office and no one returned my call. I contacted the national Orkin customer service and was told that I'd need to spend more money to kill those ants. Very frustrating. I have used Orkin year over year for ants. This year I called Orkin and asked for ant Service again. The employees showed up four hours late. And when he was done he guaranteed me that if I saw ants all I needed to do was call and he would come back free of charge. Not seven days later I see ants again. I called the local office to let them know that they had not resolved the problem and I needed him to come back. I waited two weeks for a return call and now they are telling me that I need to pay for the service. Do not use Orkin. The corporate office refers everything to the local offices and the local office is not responsive. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I contracted Orkin to remove and replace insulation in three areas of my home. Work was scheduled and I was told it would be a two day project. First day, they show and remove and replace one area and remove only a second area. Next day, they never showed up. I had someone sitting at my house waiting for them for hours. I called and they told me they were done. There was still an entire crawl space they never touched and the area they removed that they never put back. It's now been two months and I can't get a call back to get the work finished. I've called at least six times. They will not see a dime from me until the work has been completed. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT hire this company. My problem was mice. I did the Orkin Shield, which cost $5,000. This didn't work. So then they say they could be living in the insulation, still in the house from prior to the Orkin Shield. Over $9,000 to pull all insulation, get rid of the mice and sanitize. I will likely end up hiring another company to finish up what they started. Worst customer service I have ever received from any company I have ever hired. read more

I would suggest to all to stay away from Orkin. I have had them for 3 years at my apartment building treating roaches, then mice. And always it was excuses why they can't get rid of them - it is the tenants, it is the building. I got fed up and switched to a local exterminator. Within 3 months all my problems were gone. Don't make the same mistake as I did and follow the marketing. These guys are completely ineffective and do not stand by their service. If they did something for you and after 2-3 treatments the problems still there demand your money back. Don't listen to their excuses. read more

Called because i was in a seriously bad place with a fly problem. A really bad one. I called and made an appt for the next morning. "Between 10-12". 1pm and still a no show. Called one orkin who tried to get ahold of this orkin. Nothing. But left a message. 330pm still a no call no show. Had to call orkin main to get ahold of the shop. Still nothing. But left another message. Had to call the shop myself. Finally got ahold of someone. Who then proceeds to tell me that the soonest he can reschedule is the 25th, after apologizing for the no call no show. Im not asking for much, just maybe some professionalism?? Alex the technician found it offensive that I asked why he didn't call and asked him not to park behind my vehicle and block the driveway. As everyone has stated, absolutely horrendous customer service. I called earlier this morning for pest removal and was told that they would arrive today between 12-2. After waiting all day, no one showed up. No call. No email. I called later in the day and asked where the technician was because no one showed up. Customer service said that she would contact the technician and have him call me back. 1hr later, they called back and stated that my appointment was accidentally forgotten (someone forgot to added me to their list of appointments for the day), that they were sorry, and that they could have the technician at our house later tonight. We signed up for monthly services when we got our house in 2017. We still have spiders this past summer we had 4 large bees/wasp/hornets nests around the roof in the back yard, by the laundry exhaust, the front porch siding, an air vent on the other side of the house, and in the ground in the back yard and under the chimney on the side of the house. They were swarming all sides of our home. I am allergic and the swarming bees kept us (my 3 kids, husband and myself) from enjoying what little we had left of the summer. They came out 3-4 times to "treat" it and were unsuccessful each time. They didn't make even a slight difference. I ended up having to do it myself getting up on a ladder, put a thick hoodie and sweatpants on and a face shield sprayed the nest and after a couple hours went back and knocked the nests down with a power washer, flooded the ground nests and placed a 5 gal bucket over the exit. They continue to send me the invoice to pay them for a job undone and they still show up even when I cancelled services with them and they still try to charge me for it. Their customer service team doesn't give me a direct number to the manager as they are "off site" and the manager Greg NEVER calls me back. They give a sorry ass apology and send a message for them to call me back. It's been months now and I'm not paying them for shitty work. I had a problem with bed bugs in a rental unit. I called Orkin in Gurnee. They inspected and recommended using chemicals. It cost several hundred dollars. When that didn't work, they recommended heat treatment for $1,700. The said that would 100% solve the problem. Well....that didn't work. They came back and used more chemicals. It worked for a month. Now a few bed bugs are back. I called them, and they won't stand behind their service. Over $3,000 paid to them, and I still have the same problem. They have a skilled sales force that makes promises but ultimately don't have skilled, licensed or properly trained technicians to back up the promises. Do yourself a favor....go to Home Depot and buy an $8 can of Raid.....you'll have better results read more
