I've been bringing my toddlers lightly used clothing and shoes to this particular Once Upon A Child for a year now, in Bristol. They claim to take "all seasons" yet when you go to resell the clothes, they DO NOT take all seasons. They'll tell you that what they "buy" from you is whatever is in season RIGHT NOW or light wear and tear when my children have worn something literally ONCE and without any stains. I have washed the clothing and they have absolutely no stains on them whatsoever! It's absolutely ridiculous of what they'll actually accept. They'll pass on shoes, winter boots and clothing that have barely been worn, but will accept things that are torn up and stained and things with holes in them! I have called and spoken to numerous people that work there and have specifically asked if they accept winter clothing even when it's getting warmer out and they have all said yes. So if you say yes, they keep all of the winter clothing in the back, why deny ALL SEASON clothing when it's clearly a lie? read more

Back at Once Upon A Child and found so many good deals. Was able to stock up for my son through the summer plus Easter outfits for both my little ones, as well as some holiday shirts and dresses. Barely buy any of your clothes and they have mice in there. Nasty. While looking at toys I saw something out of the corner of my eye so I go over and don't see anything. Strange so I shrugged it off and walked toward the area in the back with swimsuits sure enough a mouse runs by my feet. There is no way staff doesn't know about this. read more

Went in the store with my 2 year old politely asked if they can make an exception to her using their restroom as she is 2! Manager refused I understand with everything happening the precautions that need to be taken especially being an individual that works in the public health field, but if buisnesses don't have enough kindness to allow a 2 year old to use their restroom especially a buisness that specializes in childrens clothing! This place needs to hire people who A) are not teenagers and B) who want to have a job and C) know what current fashions are. Sending me home with most of my sons barely worn vintage t-shirts and saying "they looked worn" was a laugh considering the CRAP they had on the racks. Next time I'll have a tag sale. read more

They are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to giving you what your item is worth. I brought in a BabyTrend (Hello Kitty) Edition, practically brand new. I think I put my grand daughter in it maybe twice. It was spotless. Even the tires and rims were on point. I paid close to $350 for the travel system. I didn't bring the infant car seat because they don't resell car seats. Anyways, they offered me $15.00. I thought I didn't hear the young lady correctly and asked her to repeat herself. It cost me more in shipping when I purchased it. As I walked around the store while I waited for them to waste my time I saw the strollers they had already on the floor for sale and not one of them was clean. The wheels were used and abused. One still had a rock stuck in it. I will have better luck on craigslist and letgo or offer up. What a complete waste of time and energy. I think this location has a pretty decent variety of smaller kids clothing, not so much for tweens or teens in my opinion. I have two issues with this particular location. 1. They hardly buy ANYTHING from you when you bring bags of clothes in. And I always bring in clean designer label clothing, nothing ripped or off season. 2. The staff act like it's a problem that you are even there. I think they seem more interested in talking about their personal lives with each other than actually giving GOOD customer service. Personally I think this location in Bristol could use either staff training or new staff altogether. I find it hard to want to even go there anymore between not buying clothing and the who cares if you are there attitudes. They have a ton of used children's clothes arranged by gender, size, garment type and even color. You really have to search for the good clothes. A lot of the clothes and shoes are so worn, I don't even know who would buy them. Just because it's name brand, doesn't mean it's worth putting on the shelves. The prices are reasonable and I usually find something I like. The consignment part is a rip off, but that's expected. The workers aren't the most professional or friendly, but for the savings I get from shopping there, I really don't care. read more

I have been here a couple times in the past and have found great deals on brand name clothing. The clothes are in great condition, some even with the tags still on them. I went in there Sunday with a box of left over items from a tag sale I had (dvds, games, books) and they gave me $21 for it which I thought was VERY good! read more

Generally well organized and pretty good selection of clothes for my 5 and 7 year old. There weren't a tremendous amount of toys but that was not my primary reason for going. They do have shoes and sports equipment but it did not seem to diverse. The staff could be a bit more courteous and helpful but overall weren't horrible. read more

I'm not really impressed with this location. The toys they have for sale are overpriced and should at least be cleaned off before taken and resold to other people. It just seems like the items aren't looked over well enough before resold. I went in here to look for one of those octagon gates. I would have been better off getting one from Walmart. read more

Good selection with low prices, frequently running sales on merchandise as well. Selling is easy, while you'll never reach anything near its original value, making a few dollars back from children's clothes and toys, etc is certainly better than throwing out or taking up space. All seasons of clothing are represented there, as well as most other children's related items. From baby developmental items through Halloween costumes. If you know what you are looking for and the price of it new you can make better informed descion as well. Was looking for a rock and play sleeper that inclined. Much easier shopping since Bristol got new lighting. I love shopping here for my grandson. He grows out of everything so quickly and I have found some good deals at the Bristol store. Oh, the smell. It hits you as soon as you open the door. It smells like a gym bag. It smells more like an old gym bag than the gym next door. Why? Because the clothes, and especially the shoes, are dirty. I'm seeing lots of Walmart and Target brands, which barely hold up "once upon a child" so why would you want your child to be the second child to wear them? Why would you cram the racks with these cheap clothes and why wouldn't you insist that they were clean and not smelly? And why would you accept shoes if you can see the grubby footprints of the last child who wore them? I've been so disappointed in this concept store recently. Their stores have been untidy, too dim to see what I need to and prices have increased. In addition, the staff always either look miserable, as if they don't want to be there or they are having inside conversations going on when they should be servicing their customers. Great selection and most of the items and toys are in great shape...some are even brand new. Unfortunately for this location they have some pretty miserable workers. I know some people don't love their jobs but at least try and pretend you aren't completely hating what you do for work. Personally nothing annoys me more than being ignored when I ask a worker how they are. Plus when you sell it depends who you get. Sometimes you get what they say they pay (they sell for 30% of the value and pay you 30% of that) sometimes I'm offered that and other times (always the miserable ones...) offer you $1.25 for a $60 item. What happened to your guideline? I asked and she said it goes by the condition of the item...I said I know that and there isn't a mark on it or sign of any wear it's in excellent condition....she said well this is what I'll offer you. I asked if she had the right item in the computer because it's $60 brand new and I didn't understand how they got that number. Wanted to sell a baby swing, but was told I needed to come back with a missing piece, then they'd purchase it. Went back a week later with swing and said kissing piece, only to be told that they would not purchase it for another reason. Non existent/horrible customer service by about half the staff. This is the only kids thrift store in the area that I know of, so I go here a few times a year. They have tons of baby and toddler items. However, the store is exceptionally cramped - don't bring a stroller in! I often find it difficult to look through the clothes on the rack because they are packed in so tightly, but they are organized well. The toy area is usually a disaster, though it seems more due to the small size of the space and the fact that there are always kids in there playing with the toys while a parent shops, than for lack of effort on the part of the store. I go here to get cheap baby clothes, not for a one on one personal shopping experience, but the customer service is pretty terrible here, whether you're buying or selling. I think they have a bit of a monopoly and know people will continue to shop here regardless of the staff, but some common courtesy would be appreciated. I think the prices here are reasonable - definitely not overpriced but also not as low as they should be, especially considering the environment. read more

The people working at the store are rude especially if you try to sell them something. The owners should put some time into training their employees to be professional and polite. Judgment might help too I walked out with an Ergo baby carrier that I paid $125 for and used a handful of times (in the box with manual) and was told they had too many in stock. Very disappointed in my shopping experience at this store today. I walked in with my 2 children to the music BLASTING. I'm not one to complain about MUSIC but this was uncomfortably loud. The store was GROSS. Stuff was everywhere in the isles, I couldn't push my stroller without my son moving debris out of the way for me. Lines were too long, will not shop here again. I like that store and the products they have available. Not happy with the buying portion. Every time I go to sell items, I always call before I go to see when they will take. I always walk away with half of the stuff I bring in or more. They don't tell you what they don't take. For instance, If they are over stocked in something, it would be nice to know so I don't bring those items with me. The staff is very immature and unprofessional. They stand around talking instead of helping their customers. I went in when they were having a clearance sale and found one item with a clearance tag. Cashier told me that item was not on clearance and I'd have to pay full price. Another item was marked one price and she tried to sell it to me at another price.
