My first ever bad yelp review... THE OWNER LADY IS SO RUDE. I was so in shock that I had to write a review for her so she can get her attitude together. I don't know why she wants to own a business when she's such a sour rude person. She looked like she hated her life being there, and hated every person that walked in the door. I feel so terribly bad that the staff has to work for such a horrible woman. The girls that worked there were very nice. I also know I'm not the first person to review negatively about her. Also the clothes were very over priced. They didn't take a lot of my stuff that was WAY nicer than most of the stuff out on the floor that they were selling. I wish I could give 0 starts. I had the WORST experience ever. After driving 30+ minutes to the store and spending over an hour at the store they REFUSED to take my payment because of a "policy" that is no where posted. Why let an unemployed mother of a child who desperately needs clothes not pay with a credit card from her fiance under any circumstance? I was gonna spend $60 but instead I got to take a broken hearted child home without the clothes and toys he desperately wanted and try to explain to him that mommy and daddy couldn't afford anything in that store. It's bad enough knowing i have no money for my child to be clothed but even worse when a store meant for poor parents with 1 working parent and lots of unpaid bills wont allow you to pay for your items. This store has absolutely disgusted me and the customer service was trash! Went to this location at the recommendation from a friend to sell my daughter's designer clothing. The manager gave me the steely eye killer look from behind the counter. No friendly welcome. The store refused to even look at the clothing because I used one 36 gallon container instead of two 18 gallon containers. Really? I would never recommend this store. It looks like a messy donation center and the manager should find a job that doesn't work with the public. read more

I know I have left there not feeling altogether great in the past but my recent experience will make me not return. Ever. I bought 4 overpriced dresses last week. When I got them home 1 was far too large so I went to return it. I was told that since it was considered a Holiday dress (velvet), it couldn't be returned. I paid $10 for it and felt that I overpaid as it was considering it wasn't anything special but to then be told that even though tags were on and it was within a week I could "sell it back to them for significantly less". Unacceptable customer service. I have felt that my business didn't matter in the past but now it has been confirmed. Children's Orchard on Hwy 100 and National is always better quality and ALWAYS less expensive. They are moving to New Berlin to expand so I will simply never return to Once Upon a Child. Seller Beware! This store is known for taking a Very long time to go through your items. ( meaning you will most likely get tired of hanging around for 2 plus hours) when they finally call you to tell you to come back for your $ and items, if you can't make it there before they close .... They keep it all .... Including your Rubbermaid bin! When I phoned them shortly before they closed for the evening and stated my concern about not getting back in time., they could have cared less. I went to the store the next day to speak with the manager and was treated very poorly. I will never step foot inside the store again. If I could give this place less than a star I would. First, they don't tell you to call ahead on their website. Drove 20 minutes to sell and they weren't taking anymore clothes (two hours after opening nonetheless). Then, the owner (as she identified herself) took a toy from my son and was rude to him and to me when I asked her about it. When I told her she scared him and upset him her reply, and I quote, was "well he upset me because he was playing with my toy." I told her she should address the parent, not the child. I will NEVER spend another dime in this place. Speaking with the owner was like speaking to a five year old child in her logic. I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have never tried to sell but I do buy all of my sons shoes and some of his pants/shorts. Why would I pay $48 for shoes when I can get them for $7-$10. As far as management I just returned a pair of shoes and shorts and had no problem. Only putting 1 star because I have to. This place has THE WORST customer service I have ever seen! I was in there 10 minutes when the owner lady was really rude to a customer. I was so appalled by how over-the-top rude and extreme the owners' behavior was. She basically yelled at her customer after refusing to take the items to be sold and told the customer that she would "never be a customer there again" everything was blown way out of proportion and the owner had absolutely no respect for her patrons. I left immediately because of how it was handled. Also in the short time I was there I noticed that some items were overpriced too. Overall I am not impressed and I will not be going back. I have to say I was a fan of the store until yesterday. I went in to grab some things for my daughter and the store was buzzing with people. So I get in line with 3 people in front of me. No problem. When it's my turn she got really nasty with me so much so that lady behind me had to put her hand on my shoulder . So I went to pay and I gave her my card. She asked for ID no problem but she didn't asked the other ladies in front of me. I gave her my credit card and she wouldn't give I back. I had to ask for it three times. Then I had to yell at her to put my Card in my damn hand. Come to find she charged me for stuff that wasn't in my bag and I called her on it. Then she made it seem as if I was causing a scene cause I wanted it corrected. And the manager didn't say sorry or anything. I don't know if she was the district manager but I will never give them a damn dime and none of my family or friend will either. I'm sorry, but if you post that your buying hours are until 3pm, then have the courtesy to buy items until 3pm. They stopped buying because they had a busy day over an hour early today. I drove 30 minutes with a huge bin and a two year old, only to be turned away. Children's Orchard did it to me once as well. It's SO rude...such poor customer service. Its Ok I guess. There's a bit of a production where they make you fill out paperwork and then they take your number and call you back with their quote when your stuff is ready. I brought in a Rubbermaid full of children's clothes, they picked a few items and offered me a 3 bucks. But it seemed hardly worth the runaround and coming back in later for 3 bucks. I did think the children's clothing I brought in was on par or nicer than most of what they had hanging in the store but whatever. The staff seemed to have a bit of an attitude. They wouldn't even look at my clothes because the bin they were in was too big. The clothes they did take from a smaller tote, told me afterward that they don't buy onesies under 9 months. And only what they would buy are matching outfits. A summer onesie is an outfit, unless I'm crazy. They wouldn't even buy the pants that were name brand and never worn because it wasn't part of a set. They were very rude and weren't happy or apologetic at all. Never going back here. I will not try to sell here anymore. It is a waste of time and energy. The Uggs and the high quality snow boots will go to someone who really needs them who is without a car to drive to Brookfield. I had $200 worth of stuff and after having it all rung up they refused to take my coupon due to their employees not doing their jobs and initialing the stamps!!! I read a lot of reviews about this place and recognized that all the negative reviews were from sellers (who were probably not happy with their selling experience there). However, I will give this store 4 stars as a buyer. I have been shopping there almost 10 times and EVERY TIME I was treated very well. All of their staffs are so attentive. They are very helpful on giving advice and showing the products, even doing test run for us. They are friendly and even remember us. Their clothes are generally in good to excellent condition and the price is cheap. I will always be their customer (not sure if I want to bring something to sell). read more

WARNING TO ALL SELLERS! Don't even waste your time trying to sell your items here. If you don't show up right when they open your out of luck. And I mean right when they open my husband showed up a half hour after they opened on Tuesday and was told they already stopped taking items for the day...? They need to either not post buying hours at all or change the wording on their website to be clear that its first come first serve or even set up appointment times like consignment shops do so your not wasting people's time and gas. We live over 30 minutes away and that was our second time trying to sell our items. Their buying hours state- Our buying hours are: Monday to Friday 9:30 to 6:00 Saturday 9:30 to 4:00 Sunday 11:00 to 3:00 But by 10am on a Tuesday they already stopped buying? and wouldn't quote a time so we could leave the items there and come back later, as is their policy per their website. We only had 3 items all with brands, clean no stains, a swing, an exersaucer, and a bouncy seat. I'm sure it wouldn't have taken long for them to look the items over and look up any recalls ect. But the rude staff only came up with excuses even though I was told on Sunday when I tried to sell my items that if we came right away in the morning they would have no problem going over our times then. This store really needs to be more honest and realistic with the information they provide on their website. IF YOUR NOT GOING TO ADHERE TO YOUR OWN BUYING TIMES DON'T LIST THEM ON YOUR WEBSITE!!! Horrible staff that has never heard of customer service. This is the most unfriendly group of people I have ever seen in the customer service realm. I cannot believe that anyone would give them repeat business. They are rude, do not offer help without asking and after dragging items there decide that they aren't taking anymore that day ( they said no word of this on the phone). They cannot prioritize or do things in an orderly manner. After waiting an hour for them to sort through a small box, they then said they needed more time to enter in computer. Meanwhile three people were standing around chatting with each other. There prices are so outrageous. Everyone is better off joining resale baby sites on Facebook...so much more affordable. The prices here are ridiculous especially with what they give you on items you are selling. They are so clueless. They do not know what the relevant or desirable brands are... What a joke!! I believe their customer service is getting like that of the DMV. Very sad considering how much business I use to give them. I took a tub that was 20 oz and they wouldn't look through it because it wasn't a 18 oz basket. I explained it was my first time and I drove almost an hour to get there but they weren't even nice about it just plain rude. Sad. Took my stuff and went somewhere else. I will not be returning to this store at all. Not to buy or to sale my kids stuff. Their employees could be nice but instead I think that they have gotten their name in their head and are starting to drop simple customer service. Be aware there are better cared for and way friendlier and professional options for you in. Try Childrens Orchard in Brookfield! They are awesome! I feel this establishment is inconsiderate to the people who practically donate their items to them. Both times I tried to drop stuff off they were inconsiderate of my time. Because of the first encounter, I called ahead of time to find out every specific drop off detail. One week after the call, I drove 40 minutes to drop off on their terms only to be told they decided that day not to do drop offs. I kindly explained how far I had come and that I checked ahead of time. I was turned away. I will be donating my clothes from now on. I do not want to support a business who is so thoughtless to the people who make their business a success. I also agree with other posts. You can get most stuff cheaper -new- on sale. A terrible business with terrible policies. Average clothes in average condition. Very short on useful items for boys - don't come here looking for khakis. Most importantly, SELLER BEWARE! After dropping items of at 1:50, I received a call at 6:10 to pick up. So over 4 hours later. Missed the call, and missed the 8pm deadline - forgot as I fed, bathed and put my children to bed. I called the minute the store opened and was told everything was already donated? Really? I could have picked up at 8pm but by 9:30am they are already gone? I absolutely love this store, some of the prices could be a bit better but overall a great second hand store for baby equipment. I will say I am disappointed in the lack of customer service given by staff. No greeting when you get in the store. Last time I was there it was a mess. Staff did not help as far a service and I was checking out and there wasn't any interaction. No hello, did you find everything okay? How was your experience, nothing. This isn't far from my home and this is better than good will or St. Vincent's De Paul but is not great as far as customer appreciation or service like Goodwill is or St. Vincent's. I will continue to come but I hope their services improve. Also need more to offer on days where they have major sales. I love how they have websites and that everything is updated on social media. I wish that they would be open past 7 I think they loose customers based on the fact that not everyone gets off by 7 or can make it from work to the store by close. So I don't get to come that often and it's a bummer really disappointed. Staff looks also like they hate the job no one had a smile on their face or anything. Will go again tomorrow with my mother and see what she thinks and see how the service is and maybe write another review. I do have a blog a will blog about this place for new mothers and people looking for a steal when it's winter and all the yard sales are closed I think this store will come in handy but hopefully thinks start to turn around and shape up as far as improvements. My overall first impression was nice but things are starting to not impress me anymore and maybe even be a turn away for some people. Love the punch cards. Wish they had more sales as well I see more and more merchandise that has been on the walls for months that's hasn't sold on a while wish they would have a clearance rack or something else. i'll start this out with a positive. the management is extremely picky meaning excellent quality. I used to recommend this company to anyone who wants name brand clothes for less than retail price. I say used to be because the owner has proven to be unhinged. read google reviews. I never had an issue until today. I wrote a review 2 months ago stating that I thought the management was too picky in choosing clothes to buy from customers. I have still been shopping there and selling there since. I dropped off some clothes today and got a call from the owner stating that I had to pick my basket up and i can't sell to her until I take down my bad review. I said I would if that made her feel better but she continued to be defensive. I asked if she read the positive statements but she continued to defensive and boarder line hostile. I told her I was entitled to my opinion and obviously I didn't hate her store because I wouldn't have continued to come. the conversation didn't end well and I didn't pick up my basket and I will not shop there again. usually people who own their own businesses want to rectify issues and make the customer happy. this owner apparently does not. read more

I have read the reviews over the years about this store and, clearly, the people who wrote them have no idea what selling to and buying from a second-hand store is all about. I have been dealing with them a long time including when they were at their old location. They are fair in their buying and selling. Have you ever tried to have a rummage sale and try to sell the stuff on your own if it isn't in style and in really good condition? The people that come want it free! Also, if you buy something and it's broken or damaged, they WILL take it back but don't wait two weeks like the lady in the other review!Finally, the wait time for picking up your items will always vary. Sometimes you're done right away and sometimes not. You just need to plan ahead. You sometimes have to wait in line at Goodwill too and they don't take everything. And you are giving it away! The store is clean and neat (NEVER smells of smoke or is dusty-what?). I have been to quite a few second hand stores and this store, by far, is the best. As for waiting in line...sometimes the lines are long and people want to get done...try shopping at Christmas anywhere! Rude service is an understatement!! The clerk with the initials "SK" needs to take a course in customer service. I thought I remembered reading on their website that up to 3 totes can be brought in to sell, which is what I did. When I got there, the clerk agreed with what was stated online (3 totes) but could only take 2. No apologies given. Fine..whatever. While my 2 totes were being gone through, I did some shopping, finished my transaction, and walked out the door. As soon as the door opened my receipt was swept away by a huge gust of wind and I wasn't able to retrieve it. Immediately I went back in the store to see if I could get a new one as they don't offer refunds without a receipt, and I wasn't sure if the items I purchased would fit my daughter. The clerk's facial expressions and exasperation was incredibly rude, telling me very matter-of-factly that there was nothing she could do. After a little pleading, she agreed to handwrite a receipt and proceeded to tell me that she was "bending over backwards for me." Her words. I recommend going to Tuesday's Child Resale instead. They offer sellers higher prices and buyers reasonable prices for their merchandise. read more

Very impressed with the size of the store but very disappointed with prices and the clutter. Shoes/socks/tights/boots are not organized they are just stuffed in bins that you have to dig through and many of the matching partners were missing. I was surprised at the amount of stained/dirty/shrunk and stretched out clothes hanging on the racks. 10:30am I called first to see if they were still buying clothes for the day and was told "yes" to bring my items right in. I dropped off 3 totes by 11am and I was told it would be a "little bit, just a few hours" and they took my cell # and told me they would call me and that I had until 8pm to come back to the store to pick up the rejected clothes or they would all be donated that night-ouch. Not receiving a phone call I returned to the store at 6 when I was told that it would be another 2 hours or so before they could get to my bins. Needless to say I was done with this place I took my bins back and will go somewhere else. I am new at this kids clothing resale thing and I was not real sure how this process is suppose to work. When I asked questions the staff was very rude and very snippy, they acted like they were being bothered when questioned about how to sell items to them I am still confused with the fact they do not take or make appointments, it is first come first serve and an 1 1/2 hours after they open they are 7 hours behind. My time, just like yours, is very valuable and it would have been nice to be treated like a customer instead of a distraction. Without customers there would be no business. I will not be returning and will be sure to give my honest opinion to everyone that knew I was trying out this new kids clothing resale option. FYI...my moms group was very anxious to hear about my experience with your business today.
