They take an unnecessary amount of time to look through your sells and don't even look at or consider items that are turned inside out ( like they can't take the time to actually turn clothing outside in). I am a customer--not a seller or parent. My review is solely on the store's planogram and shopping experience. This establishment is a goldmine for parents or friends and family members who like to spoil the s*** out of kids. Each birthday and holiday that I must purchase clothes for someone's child, I come here. It is my go-to one and done storefront for children's treasures. I find topnotch branded clothing items that are in either still with tags attached or maybe washed and worn once or twice. The staff at the front definitely does a good job at buying secondhand items. Nothing in here feels, smells or gives a bad vibe--all items look decent. Im not sure what's going on with this place. I felt like I was more of a burden than anything. I will not sell clothes here again. They have a one container policy right now so I had two small bags and they would only take one. BUT had I brought in a giant tub they would have taken that because it's 1 container. This is completely stupid. I had two small bags that would have fit in one of the bins they had sitting there with plenty of room for more clothes. Then I called to say I was just going to donate whatever they didn't take because I unfortunately couldn't make it back out, 45 min drive, to get my bag. They said ok and then I asked what was the offer was and she said she can't discuss that over the phone. what is this? A doctors office? So essentially, I have no idea what they gave me for my kids clothes and I bet they hang up all those clothes instead of "donating" them. Who's going to know? I won't, I don't even know how much they gave me for my one bag of clothes. Happy now that they would only take one. This used to be the best store ever... so many quality items, neatly organized and not overpriced. WHAT HAPPENED? Stopped by last week and from the minute I walked in, I thought was in a different store. There is "stuff" everywhere, it's definitely disorganized and prices are much higher. Did it change ownership? WORST PART - I needed to take my 4-year-old granddaughter to the restroom and it was disgusting. This was on a weekday at 11am - not a busy Saturday at closing! I mentioned how dirty it was to the staff as I was leaving and the young lady looked at me like I had two heads. However, I am always able to sell the stuff my child outgrows and I usually get enough cash back to buy her new stuff that fits. The employees have always been nice to be so I'm not sure why there are so many complaints on that... the only thing I don't like about the store is having to wash everything before my child can wear it, but that's just part of consignment shopping! read more

I've been to this location several times and have mixed reviews. Years past when they first open, you would be greeted or at least see employees who were semi fine with being there. Year past, there would be good clothing selections in decent condition and with decent pricing. At each of my visits, I could almost find something for my daughter whether it's a dress, pajamas, or a pair of shoes. I always like to check out the book selection as well. Given my most recent visit over the weekend, I've decided that this location isn't really worth the drive to go there compared to other Once Upon a Child stores in my area. I figured that Memorial Day weekend, the store would have a sale or something like the other stores. To my knowledge, they did not. I'm even on their text messaging list for notification of sales, but this is not the reason for the poor rating. The poor rating is for the clothing conditions and pricing. A lot of the clothing they had for sale was priced high and wasn't in the best condition for the pricing. For example, Walmart brand (Wonder?) clothing seemed priced high compared to the price you would pay new at the actual store. Another example would be the books. A chapter book (hard or soft cover) is priced to $2.50 each. Another Once Upon a Child store has the same exact books priced for $1.50. For the condition of the clothing, I noted many tops and pajamas with pills on them. I cannot justify paying certain amounts on clothing in that condition so therefore, I've decided to shop at other stores than this specific location. read more

Don't waste your time with this store. I drove 1 hour to bring clothes to sell. When I dropped off the clothes, they said the wait was up to 2 hours. I went back at 1.5 hours and was told they were so short staffed that the girl who looks through the clothes had to do everything else in the store. So there were still 6 bins before mine would even be started! She said would be at least 2-3 more hours!! I explained that I drove an hour to get there and I had to get back to meet the school bus and they just didn't care. They are not too concerned with good customer service there!! There's a big difference between 2 hours and 5 or more hours! They should have told me about their problems when I dropped the clothes. Then I would have taken them to one of the other locations that aren't far away. Don't go to this location!! read more

Great quality clothes and very organized in the 0-3/ 3-6 month old baby section. I came her on a Saturday and it wasn't over crowded and we ended up receiving the 30% discount off. I really love the sustainable concept of the business itself. Will be coming back when baby gets bigger! read more

Tons of merchandise but haphazardly placed throughout the store. Shoes are located smack in the middle of the aisle for tripping hazard, making carts unable to pass around much less any people with disabilities being able to get any shopping done. Employees are seldom friendly and approachable, and you have to wait sometimes minutes before one looks up to address you to answer a simple question. Rarely do you have more than one register open, even with five employees behind the counter. Acquiring new merchandise seems far more important to management than taking care of the present customers. I have spent hundreds of dollars (not counting gas and $8 in tolls every trip) to come to this specific OUAC, but today was my last straw. A much-advertised clearance sale had less than 10% of boys items on the clearance racks (and I asked if I was missing any other clearance racks or if clearance was spread through the store), but you have to dig through the girl clearance to find a single piece of guys clearance. Icing on the cake: signs posted everywhere advertising clearance items, yet when I went to check out, my items (though marked with red lines indicating what should in most establishments mean clearance) weren't "fuzzy" enough to be clearance. I've walked away in disappointment before, but no more. This is by far the worst OUAC I've been to across several states. read more

First of all-this review is as a customer, not a seller. The front of the store really throws you off as it is disorganized, and empty looking-not very inviting. But once you get to the back of the store, it is crammed full with stuff and very well organized by boy/girl, size and type (Ex; coats together, etc.). It was almost overwhelming until you figured out how it was separated. I will say the top rails are too high. Being only 5 foot, I could not even shop the top rails. Maybe they should put a few step stools out for customers if they are going to have merchandise that high? I got some great bargains, but you have to have patience to sort through the racks. Pricing is all over the place, looks like changes depending on who was pricing that day. Checkout is not fancy, and they will just throw your stuff into one bag, so don't expect Macy's quality service. But they were friendly, and I got three complete outfits, a dress, and three pairs of Converse "Chucks", all in toddler sizes for under $40. If you are military, they also offer a military discount of 10% (yeah!). Side note- while checking out a lot of people were calling and stopping by to drop off things for sale, and they told many that they were not accepting anything right then. People were getting rude with them because of it. But the store was full-they are in business to sell not just buy. Don't expect to only drop off your yard sale finds that you paid a dime for, and not buy anything in return! That's not how they will stay in business. read more

Though I was nervous about going to a shop with so many poor reviews, I went because sometimes you just need new dress shoes for your kids and don't want to spend $40/pair. I also got the impression that some reviewers might have expected to get resale value for their clothes and other items, when a consignment shop has to make a profit or it won't be able to pay employees or keep the lights on...and then there's no more shop. Anyway, this shop is not a boutique consignment shop, it's something a couple steps above Goodwill and a couple steps below designer children's consignment. There was a bit of an odor near the bins of shoes, but what can you expect from bins of used shoes? Maybe the staff could consider throwing deodorizers in the bottom of each bin, or something. I did feel like items were a bit inconsistently priced, but most things were exactly what I expect: $3 for a pair of used shoes or a used shirt. Most clothing items were in good condition, but a few were quite used and stained. The shop would do well to filter those out as they come in. Stock was well organized. The employees there were attentive and friendly, and I was asked if I needed help at least once. Alas, they couldn't help, because what I needed at the moment was a changing station--or a bathroom with a changing station would be even better, because then there'd be a place for the littles to go potty instead of dragging them down to a different store. A changing station would get them 4 stars. Fixing the issues related to the shoe smell and stained clothing, and adding a bathroom sometime down the road would make this a 5 star experience, but I will still go back for the affordable pricing and friendly faces. read more

The employee's are rude and prejudiced, they will only buy clothes from people who look a "certain way". Many times I have gone in to shop and have seen clothes with stains,holes, or missing tags. However they "CLAIM" they cannot buy anything with the same imperfections. I was in the store earlier and the manger and employees were all rude and talking down to me and in a sarcastic tone. I brought in around $500 worth of stuff and they only wanted to take 3 items!!! Majority were in great condition and like new. I will never shop there again, whether its selling or buying. Disappointing experience every time I've been in. It's so crowded it's virtually impossible to navigate with a shopping cart or stroller-to me that makes no sense since OF COURSE the customers have little kids. The employees don't greet you when you come in, you get a dirty look for bringing your kids (I assume, I'm not sure why else I'd get that look unless they just are annoyed to have customers). The one in Gambrills is *slightly* easier to walk through and the employees are MUCH more pleasant to deal with. read more

I have visited many Once Upon A Child locations in several different states. One thing they have in common is that the people working at them seem to unanimously hate their job. The employees are NOT friendly. So I was not surprised in the least about this characteristic at this location. I was surprised however that they don't have any fitting rooms. Say what?? I walked along the entire outer wall of the store looking for a fitting room and could not find one, so I asked. I was told they don't have a fitting room, but they have a bathroom, and she would unlock it for me. Ew. Sorry, I am not going to have my son be barefoot/half naked on a nasty bathroom floor to try on clothes. Gross gross gross. This alone is enough to make me not want to return to this location. Secondly, I decided to purchase one dress shirt, two pairs of dress pants, and pair of cleats (which were in okay shape, but still dirty cleats LOL). The employee who rang us up literally rolled the clothes into a ball and shoved them messily into a bag and threw the cleats on top. Are you kidding me??!! I know the stuff is re-sale, but treat the items I just paid good money for with a little respect. Do we know how to fold clothes or not people??? And the cleats on the clothes was just the cherry on top. I was in disbelief. Although I feel that the Gambrills location's clothes are priced slightly higher, at least they have fitting rooms (yes, more than one!) and don't shove my stuff in a bag like it's trash. As a side note, for those who don't know (like me until a few days ago): 1) You only have 7 days to return items to the store, and 2). You cannot buy items at one location and return them to another - they must be returned to the same store they were purchased at. read more

This store needs some work. 1.) It's a bit messy and disorganized. Feels cramped and a little chaotic upon entering. 2.) The shoe bins stank and the sizes were all mixed together. 3.) The bathroom was DISGUSTING. Splatters on the floor, pee and dirt and hair all over the back of the toilet seat, toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, no hand soap except for a grimy-looking bottle of dish detergent, and no paper towels to dry hands. They were given to me by a friend but sadly were too small for my son . I wasn't looking to get rich , but I assumed that since my items were brand new , I'd get a little more than the average. First and last time visiting this location. I've been going to the one in Gambrills for years, never had a issue and typically received upwards of $60 each trip for my clothes. I arrived a half hour after they opened on a Thursday to drop of 5 bags of clothing and shoes. Was told it would be "a few hours" I asked if that was closer to 2 or 4 or more (since I live 40 minutes away and planned on waiting in the area) employee said "could be either, every time someone comes in I have to stop and what I'm doing and help them" implying myself and others are a nuisance. Then she informed me they don't accept wrinkled clothes. I don't know if this is a new rule or just this location but the first I heard of this. My clothes have been folded but added to laundry bags over the course of a year, I highly doubt they're wrinkle free. An hour later, I receive a call they're done with my clothes (glad I stayed in the area after my 2-4 hour original estimate) I showed up and they kept the 1 bag of shoes and that's it, $13 is what I got back.. for 5 bags of clothing. Some items still had tags on them and everything else was in very good condition, I separate thing that go straight to goodwill. Leaves me to believe that since the items weren't in clear containers and not pressed they didn't even bother to go through them. Waste of my time, should have listen to the other reviews and gone elsewhere. read more

Rude and unorganized. Ive had bad experiences each time i went. They cclaim to buy all this stuff yet when o brought up almost beand new things i was told they don't take moat of what i had. They need to have a sign or something and check their website so people dont waste time and gas. Also, the employees dont know what they can and cant take. I've never really had a problem at this store. The workers have been very friendly every time I've gone. Their prices are reasonable. The clothing and toys I've purchased have been in great condition. For those bringing in things to sell, keep in mind that they are running a business. They have to be selective about the items they can accept or they will have a massive inventory of junk they cannot get rid of. They will offer you the lowest possible price for your items and then sell it at a higher price to make as much profit as possible. That's how a consignment business works. It's similar to a pawn shop. If you're looking to get back as much $ as possible for your baby items (or anything in general), you're way better off selling it on your own through a fb consignment page. Otherwise, if you really don't care, OUAC can be pretty convenient. read more

If I could, I would give that place zero stars. Even though the store is clean and well organized, the customer service is unprofessional and rude while chatting with each other most of the time instead of working more efficiently. Also, if you sold with them before they don't store account information, so each time you have to fill out the personal information such as name, address, phone number, and so on. This process is time consuming for both sides. The prices are relatively cheap and you can get used quality clothing for a good deal. The downside is that selling brand new items you won't get paid fairly. For example, I brought in a brand new Old Navy jacket which I paid $40 from current season and was offered $2. The last time I went there at a not busy time, weekday morning, I brought in two pieces. After checking in, I was told it will take 1 hour and 45 min. I looked in disbelieve and said assertively that this bag contains only two pieces. The lady at the counter said that she understands, but they have to go in order. I was okay to accept this answer or take my items and leave. I didn't get a chance to even answer because her colleague rudely snatched in, grabbed the bag, looked annoyed, and said that she will take it. Her attitude was cold, disrespectful, and rude the entire process of checking in and out. I was glad to leave this store and won't return. In the future, I will use other options available. There are stores, you get new items for just a couple of dollars more. read more

I visited this store today with my girls, in hopes to find winter clothes for my 3 month-old. Let me start with the one bright spot, they had a wonderful selection. There prices are outrageous for second-hand clothing. You would be better off buying them from eBay or Swap.com. The shorts my baby had on today I purchased from Swap.com for a little over a dollar, they wanted $5.50 for them. (brand okie-dokie) This was my first and LAST time visiting this store! We waited almost 3 hours for them to tell us they weren't buying a single thing from us. We figured the staff would be friendly since they are brand new but we were wrong. Let's just say I was not to thrilled with my short visit. I rarely give reviews because I like to give business a chance, however this is not the case. So I entered the store in my sweats and my hair pulled back with my baby in a car seat in one hand and a bag of clothes to sell the store in the other.. The store was semi full but there were employees just lingering at the register looking like they were just read to cope for the night. The moment I entered a snarky young employee says hello and immediately tells me they are no longer buying clothes because it was after 7. The entire vibe of the store gave me "get your black ass out of here".. But I digress. She then said just to save you the trip we are not accepting any spring of summer clothes just fall and winter.. First of all no one even knew what was in my bag beside it was closed and I didn't ask to be saved a trip frankly because not only did I plan to see but I also planned to SHOP! Being turned away at the door before I could get it out my mouth that I was also looking was a complete turn off .. So I didn't mention my plans to shop I just turned around and headed for my car in the heat.. Now I still need to sell these clothes so I will just find another location or just a different store, either way this location is some . And the staff is just as bad .. I have come to this store four times now and I just DO NOT like this location. When I sell stuff I always walk away feeling robbed. I know that I am not going to get much for second hand items but they offer significantly less than the other locations. I also just don't find the staff welcoming or warm. I don't think a single one has ever smiled at me. One day I accidently got there before they opened and there was a girl painting the window and she avoided eye contact like the plague. I certainly didn't expect them to open the store for me but an apoplectic smile and a gesture towards the store hours would have been appropriate. Im new to Maryland and a neighbor told me about this place, however this location sucks!!! I dont want to give it one star! I wanted to sell my kids clothes, they were still new with store tags on them. I had at least a half tote and 3 pair of shoes. I was offered $7 for everything!!! What??? I had a new pair of all white adidas that my son only wore twice still in the box, as well as a pair of tan timberlands never wore. This was my 2nd time selling. The first time it wasnt to bad i had a few things and got $10-15. However the customer service in this place dosent even exist!! When u walk in the door ur pre judged already and i think they already knw what price if any theyre going to offer u. Theyre just really rude here. So I gave a star ONLY because I had to. I would give negative stars if I could. I literally called the Glen Burnie location while I was sitting in my car outside of my house to ask them if I needed an appointment to sell items. The employee said that I didn't and I should come now because it will probably be an hour wait once it starts to get busy. I told the employee that I live in Perry Hall and that I was on my way now. I arrived at this location in the pouring rain and my Bestfriend pulled up behind me because I needed him to bring the big items. He lives even further than me. I had a bassinet, a bouncer, and a automatic rocker plus 2 trash bags of clean and folded clothing. ALL IN GREAT CONDITION. My Bestfriend struggled to bring in the 3 big items while I stood there holding my baby. No one greeted me or said anything to me while I was standing there. It was 3 girls at the other end of the room just staring at him and whispering . NO ONE SAID ANYTHING TO US. So I said to the rude young guy at the front counter that I wanted to sell some things, he just Rudely shook his head and said "not today". I explained to him that I just spoke to a young lady and she told me to come in. I even spoke with " The Manager ", with no success. So I asked was she the person that I spoke to on the phone, she said " No, but it's 3 other people that answer the phone so I don't know who spoke with you". Like What?! You know who spoke with me. They didn't even know I had the clothes yet. They could've just took the 3 big items to compensate me for my time. I then had to drive back home in the pouring ran and terrible traffic. It took me over an hour to get home. These people were so rude it was ridiculous. I'd rather give the clothes away than go to any more of these locations. And I only ended up here because the Ellicott City location would not answer the phone. Who hires these people?! read more

Sold a bag of Justice clothing to have them pick through and once again pick the worst of the clothing I brought. I'm baffled as to what their standards are. Had a friend try to sell baby clothes which they said were stained yet not one stain was found when we got home. I only gave 2 stars because I did find 3 things I purchased for a baby shower that were decent. Wont bother selling again to them...they have to be owned by the same people as Platos Closet Glen Burnie because its the same crappy standards and crappy customer service.
