I love this store!!! They have the cutest gifts! I went in to pick up one wine glass and spent 45 min looking around! Ended up buying gifts. I left my phone number with them because I was interested in a Lily Pulitzer travel bag that didn't have a price tag. They called the vendor and there was no answer. I left the store and they called me back to say the bag was a promotion. It was free if I bought any Lily Pulitzer product. I can't believe how wonderful the entire staff is! The staff is so helpful and kind and highly attentive. So many times they remember items that I was on the hunt for and called me when they ordered and it arrived. They even offer permanent jewelry. If they don't carry something you are interested in, and it would be popular in the store, they will stock it for you. Bottom Line: Lovely gifts, accessories and home décor. Its been five years since my last review and The Cottage has a new, bigger, brighter spot so its time for an update. For starters, The Cottage is still in Park Plaza and it is now located a few spots down from its old location next to Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts. Even through The Cottage has been in business for decades it continuously evolves to stay current with popular brands and trendy looks. There is a lot to look at and the well-displayed assortment ranges from sweet baby bibs to festive wine glasses. Here are some of the types of items you can expect to find at The Cottage. - Baby gifts like sweet stuffed animals and super soft clothing - Fancy/amusing paper cocktail napkins - Various brands of handbags like Scout and Vera Bradley - Maryland flag, crab and sailboat décor, of course! - Stuff from the Spartina Chesapeake Bay collection (aka "Bay Dreams") - Beachy and Annapolitan inspired clothing ranging from tshirts to dresses - Popular drinkware items like Tervis plastic tumblers and stainless steel Corkcicle products As far as the service goes, I think its average. There is plenty of parking but this particular corner of Park Plaza can get busy so sometimes it is nice to park on the side of the building. Keep an eye out for coupons in local mailers. Ok I've been going to the old store since they opened. And I have never gone in without spending more than I should have. But always quality items that I couldn't buy elsewhere. I even went to the old store and bought great close out items. Then my granddaughter and I walked into the beautiful new store. Well it is beautiful but the beauty ended there. Will we were looking at other items my 16 year old granddaughter picked up a wine glass. She was holding it while I was looking in a jewelry case. I watched a sales person cross the entire store passing a must older woman hold 3 glasses to get to my granddaughter. She insisted on putting the glass behind the counter. It's ok I understand that the need to watch out for shoplifting but this was clearly a case of profiling. She and the manager did apologize and the manager said over and over how her staff was the nicest most sweet people and couldn't have made Emily feel that way. Just a misunderstanding. We let it go and went to check out. It was crowded however when I checked out I thought that seemed more than I thought it would be. Latter I couldn't stop thinking about the total. Thank God I did when I looked at me receipt I found that I was charged for 2 necklaces at 129.00 each when I only purchased one. At the store I asked the girl who said she the manager (turned out she wasn't) to look at the receipt. She immediately wanted to get the catalog and check the prices. Finally I told her it wasn't the prices but that the receipt clearly stated that I was charged for 2 necklaces when she could see by all the items in the bag I only had one. Then she took it to the real manager. I am sure it was an honest mistake the she was truly sorry. They refunded the over charge and did not charge me for the 30.00 piece. All was well until the store manager repeated what a good cashier the girl was and that is why she has her on the register over and over. Now I do agree that the overcharge was just a mistake but instead of just saying I'm sorry and maybe I'll do my best and hopefully this will not happen to another customer she kept saying how great the cashier was. Anyway more managers should learn to just listen understand how they felt and say I'm sorry. That is all that is needed for everyone to walk away happy and remain a customer. read more

LOVE this place! Super cute, one of a kind boutique store makes shopping there super fun. The owner is incredibly nice and is always in the store along with her friendly staff. They have a great variety of gift ideas, jewelry and other amazing items for the home.
