Some of the items are over priced!! They don't give you much for your selling to them. There was a lot to choose from but pretty messing. The wait to check out today was long! Only two people checking people out for sale with a long line. But they had at least 6 or more people going through the boxes of stuff they were organizing from buying them. Once Upon A Child is a resale children's store. With my grandson being the only grandchild on both sides of the family he has an over abundance of everything. Being overloaded with clothing my daughter went through the process of selling them her unused or barely worn items. The process is fair and easy but Goodwill is closer to her home and they run out to your car to collect the items so it was a one time event. After my first visit with my daughter I became a fan of their toy section. Whenever I am in the area with extra time on my hands I stop in. They have tons of ride on toys that sit above the clothing racks and the back of the store is dedicated to all of the other toys. There are bins loaded with sealed bags of puzzles, action figures, trucks, dolls and more. All of the items sold are in perfect shape and very clean. There is also a section for books with a small sitting area. I do not know much about the clothes but they look as though they are in excellent shape and organized by size and gender. I always came when Maria was the owner of once upon a Child here on Ocoee colonial Drive, but she's gone now and so many things have changed. Everyone behind the counter are complete. Idiots.. I came in with five bins and I was told that I could only give them four so I took some of the clothes and put it into another bin to make it four bins which is what they were accepting. I went shopping in the store for my daughter and upon getting to the counter to pay for my items I was told they can only take three now. Why not say this before I purchase their very expensive stuff? The bin I had to take back had Abercrombie, Matilda, Jane, joyfully Lee, irregular choice, Shoes, Livie, Luca, and More, so why give me back the best stuff that I brought in knowing that I would make more money it's because they're a bunch of cheapskates that's why and then they up charge everything so they took three of my bins took most of everything and I received a whopping $44.75!! moms let you be worn. Don't waste your time getting your beautiful stuff together folding it putting it in bins because when I got one bin back my growing flowers pieces were on the bottom of the bin so they don't even take care of your stuff while it's at their shop . better to have a garage sale you'll make more money after evaluation. I think I might've gotten $.50 on it most of the stuff so if you're going to shop, definitely shop but bring your credit card because their stuff is expensive and that's why I'm giving them one because it's more expensive at the mall other than that they're a bunch of teenagers yapping yapping.. Parents be warned, if you bring clothes here and don't come back the same day or within 24 hours, they donate what they don't keep of your clothes. I think it's only logical and ethical that a customer service rep is clear about this when you bring clothes in. I may want to donate the clothes myself or give to friends or relatives with kids. When I told the sales rep nobody told me this when I dropped off clothes, she said it's in the digital doc we sign when we drop off clothes. I'm not sure how many people read the fine print of anything nowadays, so with such a tight deadline verbal confirmation on how they operate would be fair. I was waiting for a table at Ginza when a female friend of mine and I happened upon this delightful store. We toured the establishment and she ended up purchasing several clothing items and accessories for her demon spawn daughter. The prices are also quite right at this unusual consignment shop for children. This is not a place one would go to find specific items. Its total pot luck but I am sure most of the time one will be pleasantly surprised by the deals they encounter. This is one of those 'higher end' children's re-sale shops. I'm giving it that distinction because the options you have, the cleanliness and the quality of the clothing, products, toys, etc. that they have here. It's like bargain shopping - some items are priced high, some are priced low and some are about what you expect. But overall, it's options are endless and the store is well laid out to accommodate and make shopping easier. This is the one consignment store I can get behind. I have been here on numerous occasions to buy clothes, furniture, shoes, and other things for my litter of kids. I have found more clothes here for children then the most professional big name companies in the world have offered me. Where places like Wal-Mart ( I apologize for the bad language) offer two or 3 styles of pants for a specific size group, Once Upon a Child has entire isles solely dedicated to one size. My biggest challenge is limiting myself to sticking with the number of items I planned on buying when I walked in. I have stocked all 3 of my spawn with winter clothes, jackets, gloves, boots, beanies, pants, shirts, sweaters, tennis shoes, toys, and furniture over the last few months. My expense, less than $300 compared to the Wally World pricing that would have offered much less selection for around 3 times the cost. Some of my finds include kids leather jackets for under $20, Converse shoes for $9, and a kids guitar for $15. Some of the items I find aren't even uses and still get sold for a resale price. Oh by the way the people are amazing. Without even being asked they help you run items out to the car, help you find items, and offer discount programs on top of the already low prices. Great selection of clothes but I went to sell 1 small basket of infant toys and the girl who took the items in told me "it was only going to be a 45 min wait for in-store wait" i waited an hour i went up to the counter and NO BODY had even touched my basket yet...so I walled out and did what I needed to do they called me back 2 HOURS LATER to say they are almost done...don't tell ppl it's going to be 45 min and it's really 2 HOURS!!! No longer great savings. This store was great in the beginning but now they are slowly raising their prices and are no longer a great value for non-brand clothes. Pay very close attention to the items. You can buy new at Target/Walmart for many items at almost the same price for used at OUC. Also, it used to be I could take my good used boy clothes to them, get store credit and buy new clothes. Not so much anymore. They have become really picky. Do yourself a favor and have your own garage sale. I have been selling to them for years but recently they have gotten extremely picky and low balling on prices. I came in one Sunday and dropped off a stroller only to be called four hours later to come back to the store to be told that "oh we have too many right now, maybe next time. Really, you couldn't tell me that when I dropped it off? if any of the clothes has hint of an imperfection or one pill the or a slight color fade then forget it. Last time i checked previously used children's clothes are not museum pieces. Yesterday was the last straw. My wife had a children's boutique that she had to close due the economy two years ago.. She has many factory sealed educational toys made in Germany of real wood certified lead free and other children's items. I brought in 5 of these factory sealed wooden toys (that retailed for over $60 not that I'm looking for retail but these are quality not Wal-Mart junk,so at least make a fair offer) a crib plush toy string factory sealed that wholesale was $25 and car seat strap pads all factory sealed. So there was close to $90 of factory sealed items. You know what they offered me? $9.50. NO more getting ripped off for me. As I said, do your own garage sale or a community garage sale and you will make FAR more than selling to these rip off artists. read more

For a mom who has 3 kids under 6, this store is where I shop! The size of the store ( its huge!) the selection and diversity of sizes and seasons of clothes (great for all sizes and genders plus those of us who shop for the next season (s) not just current ones and the variety of clean and gently used items at REASONABLE prices is a must for those with kids! I've shopped here for 5 years and have had nothing but great finds and superior help from the staff! My fave perk about Once Upon a child Ocoee....bringing in my old items to sell and then getting a store discount to shop same day if I use store credit ...score!! Is like switching out old for new! I don't know what all the fuss is about. The same things happen everytime: 1) the staff is rude 2) the staff is rude 3) they don't pay you fair costs for merchandise 4) the wouldn't even recognize designer merchandise yet except faded and worn merchandise from others. Someone told me about this place. My daughter has a TON of clothes, clothes that still had tags on them. So I bring them in and they offer me $5.08, what an insult stating that they where not folded properly, funny how I just took them off the hanger from her closet. The saddest part they didn't even take the clothes that where still on the hanger with the tag attached. I will never go there again. The clothes they have there look used and they also told me her clothes looked used. While I was there a person came in with a bag of clothes, just shoved in the bag and he got like $25. I didn't want the money I just wanted store credit for when my daughter gets older. I did get her a sleeper it was $5, when I brought it home my husband (which I don't know why this is posted under his name) said "you paid $5 for this?, when we can get brand new ones at Target for $4.50" he has a point. Will never go there again and if you can get coupons form Kohls which you can online, new clothes are better than used clothes for the same price. This store is HORRIBLE! What a NIGHTMARE! I went there for THREE times before because that store which they accept used baby / kids related items. So I brought MANY items of my daughter which she can't use anymore to sell to them. MOST of my items are brand NEW or just slightly use for a couple of time. The first time I was dealing with their owner, and of course, the pricewise is pretty LOW offer, but it really doesn't matter. Since the first time experiece is ok, so I went there the second time to bring more toys that I planned to sell to them. Then the HORRIBLE story came, I was handle by the staff call "TRACY", she has TERRIBLE attitude, the first sentence she saw me to walk in the store was "your items will be checked until 7:30PM at night, is that OK to you!" Oh, my god! I totally was in shocking, I didn't know WHY is the reason she felt the customer who sell the items to them is a BEGGER? Or they are ones to give us the money??? Give me a break, the stuff that you are selling them is 40% of the price they sell, which means they are going to earn 60% and 20% more than you. So yes, the customers are the ones give the stores alive, NOT the miserable staff! I was there about 4:30PM, and I asked her if I will wait in the store, how long it will take, she told me 1 to 1.5 hours! So that means I can leave the store at 5:30PM to 6:00PM the latest, then I told the "TRACY" that if I can go out and come back and she said I CAN'T ,because they WON'T count the clock once I left, so I decided then I was going to wait there. Well, then their staff started to show the attitude to the toys that I brought in, because they thought it's too MANY!!! But WHY they don't go ahead to tell the customer that Once Upon a Child WONT' accept certain amount of items or they will show your NASTY attitude like you were begging them for help! When the clock went to 6:00PM I go to the counter to check the status of my items that they promised to finish, but I just realize my items still in the waiting area, they HAVEN'T even touch it!!! I CAN'T believe my eyes and I can't believe HOW they fool the client and keep them waitng, because our time is NOT the time and we can wait to beg them receive the items that you are going to offer! So at the end they decided to start to value my items at 7:00PM before the store, that means I stay in the store for 3 hours for NO REASON! The third time is the LAST time I was there, because I figure that second time I had bad experience, but maybe it is because they are busy and I would give them some credit, even WHATEVER they treat me was absolutely wrong. This time I brought a few bags of clothes to them to sell. The moment I walked in the store, their staffs automatically started to say that the one for the toy last time, it's like I'm the criminal on their BLACK list! Well, at that point, I didn't care anymore, I just left my bags there and leave, and went back to pick up the check that's it, because I'm enough their DISGUSTING faces and NASTY attitude. And when I came back to the store, they took out a little basket and it has a few clothes that they have picked, and they just simply told me the majority clothes that I brought was USED and WRINKLE, so they CAN'T accept. Give a HOLY break, this place is for accepting USED items, which they hired staffs there to iron your items to make the WRINKLE away. They DONT' accept my items just because they DON'T like to accept MY items for PERSONAL Reason, because I asked those YOUR HIGHNESS to work TOO MUCH and TOO HARD for my items that I brought! This is the REASON! So WHOEVER plan to sell the items to them, if you have large amount, please DO YOURSELF a FAVOR, DO NOT GO THAT EVIL PLACE, THEY WILL EAT YOU ALIVE AND LEAVE YOU VERY BAD TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH! I regularly frequent this store, both as a seller and a consumer for my 8-year son and 4-yr old daughter, since they opened their doors in this bigger store in Ocoee. I only regret I didn't know about this place years ago when i was both looking to purchase baby stuff and sell what my children have outgrown. It's a great bargain for toys, books, baby equipment, and shoes. I think the clothing can be overpriced, particularly for the Gymboree, Old Navy, and Gap brands (which I like to purchase). Their sell price for a used item is sometimes at the same, or just a dollar or two under what I could buy it new, when on sale. I do find items like winter coats and shoes to be priced at a bargain. I love it when I can score an almost new pair of Stride Rite or Sperry Topsider shoes for about 25% the cost of full retail! You don't really get a whole lot for selling your own children's outgrown clothing or used toys. I get typically $1 - $5 per item back for used items, depending on brand and condition of what I'm selling. They unfortunately do not itemize how much they're giving you per item, as they tell you a lump sum, but I can estimate based on the number of items I bring in. I also find the items they select to purchase is dependent on the person you get reviewing your items. I've found many items on the racks for sale that was in worst condition (holes, tears, wear) than the items I've tried to sell, but be rejected. Overall, I recommend Once Upon a Child to lots of my other Mom friends. Can you get more if you sell on Ebay? Probably....but I like the convenience of being able to "clean house" within a couple of hours. read more
