Amy's is a recently opened consignment shop that just popped up in the new shopping center behind the BP on the corner of Chickasaw and Curry Ford. I would've never even know that it was there if it wasn't for a flyer that I received in the mail advertising their grand opening. I stopped by today after work to give it a go... First impression: REALLY nice and friendly owner. She immediately approached me and asked if I needed any help. Wasn't pushy... she pointed me in the right direction after I told her my size. The store is pretty tiny and quite cluttered. She apologized for the mess and told me that they had just received a large amount of clothes that she was still putting away. I spent a while just sifting through the racks... and I didn't find anything that really caught my eye. There was a pair of Roxy shorts that still had the tag on them (retail for $39.50) - she was asking $9.00. She tried to be very helpful and offered up a few suggestions, but nothing was really my style. A lot of the new stuff she had (tags still on) looked cheap to me. I think I will give Amy's another chance. Consignment shops are kinda weird like that... one day you found a lot of awesome stuff; other days you really don't find anything. The owner says that they get new items in constantly, so I would suggest checking in and seeing what you find! read more

Amy's is a great little place! The owner is usually running the shop on weekdays. When she's not on the phone she will always help you find what you are looking for. Always ask if you can't find something. Since it is such a small space things are sometimes hard to find or she'll have something in the back that she hasn't put out yet. I stop in every couple weeks and pick something up. My friends who have sold here say they are happy with how much money they make from it, but I haven't personally tried selling anything yet. read more

What a complete diamond in the rough!! I made a wrong left turn and passed by a cute pink sign on the sign of the road that said "deisgner consignment shop" so on a whim I decided to stop by. I was there for about an hour & Amy was amazing. She was so positive, uplifting and I felt like I had a personal shopper helping me. She wanted to figure out my style to a T & I found SO many cute pieces. I mean clothes new with tags for $11.. I bought about 8 tops and a cropped FREE PEOPLE jean jacket for an insane $36 that is in amazing condition that retails on their site for over $100. The bags are amazing. There are clothes, shoes, purses, and accessories ranging from every day designers to top luxury ones at AMAZING prices. Can't wait to go back. read more

I'm pregnant and just moved to Florida so I need some Florida dresses. The first second I walk in I was greeted by a beautiful blonde. It was Amy! And she was super helpful. Even though there were other people she still made me feel like I was the only person there. The first thing I picked up was hands down the most incredible green dress/jumper thing with pockets. Before I knew it, I had a pile of dresses. A pile!!!!!! I ended up spending $200 and getting so many dresses and tops. I am absolutely in love with this place. And Amy!! Amy's Closet has really good sales every now and then. The store owner sometimes has weekend sales where every clothing piece on a rack is only $1 each. There are some really nice, quality name brands on the rack and the sizes vary. The owner also puts a sale out where you can "fill a bag" for $10. As long as you can make it fit in the bag, you're good to go. These are all pluses for shopping here. However, if you're NOT coming in the store on a sale day, the prices for her clothes are kind of over-priced. You can get the exact same kinds of clothes at Goodwill for VERY cheap. Blouses at Goodwill are only around $3, whereas blouses at Amy's Closet vary in price but usually START at $8-$12 bucks. This isn't bad, I suppose, but when you compare it to other thrift/consignment shops, this is a little bad. She sells designer purses as well, which are all in good condition but are WAY overpriced. If you want to get a cheap, AUTHENTIC Coach handbag or Dooney and Bourke, go to Plato's Closet. They have MANY locations and they buy and sell used clothes like Amy's Closet. Plato's caters more to the teens/20's crowd, but their handbags are EXCEPTIONALLY inexpensive and authentic. The Plato's Closet in Oviedo, FL sells REPLICA Coach handbags every once in a while, but all the other stores do NOT. And if they do, they will tell you if it's authentic if you ask. I got a real Dooney and Bourke Bucket Bag at Plato's and it was only $30. It was in excellent condition. Amy's Closet sells Dooney's for around $75 or MORE. This is absurd for a used purse. If I wanted to pay that kind of money, I'd just go to the Dooney and Bourke website. So, the bottom line is: If you go on a sale day, Amy's Closet is GREAT. If you're really on a strict budget and it's not a sale day, go to Plato's closet, or even better, Goodwill. read more

if you are thinking about leaving clothes on consignment make sure you ask lots of questions before you waste your time. when i called they told me "no winter clothes" (it's spring, ok). they asked what sizes and then set up an appointment. when i arrived they told me "no black clothes" and "only current fashions". a black cocktail dress was no good? Liz Claiborne and J.Crew are not hip enough? they could have saved me a couple of hours of driving thru 5pm traffic if they had been more specific. i was really annoyed. read more
