I have been coming here for about 3 years I see Shane Doucet and she is a color specialist, and that is putting it mildly! Her knowledge of color is amazing! I get so many compliments all the time, she also has definitely taken me out of my comfort zone but not in a bad way. She can always fit me in and she's so sweet and professional! I wanted to get my hair blown out so my good friend Rizzie scheduled me to come in on a Saturday. She was so professional, asked if I was doing okay, etc. She also gave me the break down of what she was doing because I want to try to do blow outs on my own (which I'm still practicing btw). So, she had a lot of helpful tips and tricks! She even let me know what shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products she was using for my hair. My hair looked so shiny, and felt so smooth! I loved it!! Her work area was organized and clean. This is a plus for me because from past experience I've seen some hair stylists keep their stuff everywhere. There was a plexi-glass in between her space and another stylist's space. This was nice because of everything going on with COVID. The salon required clients to wear their masks at all time. They provided disposable ones in case a client forgot theirs. They also had hand sanitizers for their clients to use as well. The place is so cute! They even have a mannequin in the front, and because it was February it was dress up in beautiful flowers to go with the Valentine's Day theme. Everyone else was also SUPER friendly! I've been to hair salons where the other women just sneer you down or completely ignore you. Or sometimes you'll feel like you're being judged. But that's not the case here at all!!! I have never left a bad review but I felt the need to. I checked the yelp reviews as well as Facebook reviews to a new salon that opened up right next to my neighborhood they all were fabulous so I wasn't concerned. When I walked into my appointment, I was greeted by Shane Doucet. I showed her the type of haircut I wanted, long A-style (short in the back, longer in the front). She said she could do it and I was happy. Seemed easy enough, right? She washed my hair and took me back for the cut. I sat down next to another lady getting her hair done. All four of us chatted away. It was a light and comfortable atmosphere. I was really enjoying myself with the playful conversation. When it seemed that my stylist was finished with the back of my head, I noticed it was too long, I asked her to cut it shorter. I wanted the back shorter (where my neck meets my shoulder, I pointed to that spot). She cut it then turned me around (so my back was facing the mirror) and worked on the front. Again, I told her that I wanted the front to be longer than the back and I pointed to a spot lower than my clavicle. She worked way, and when she turned me around I was mortified. I am not one for confrontation and I HATE correcting people so I paid my bill ($55 plus tip total $66) and left. I was so upset. The cut looks NOTHING like the picture. I've had my hair cut like that before and I know what it looked like and how it would work with my face. I had over 12 inches cut off. I hadn't had my hair cut in over 2 years and when I finally do, this is what happens. It doesn't look like the picture AT ALL and it is uneven. I am so disappointed and will never recommend this place to anyone I know. If you're going for a simple haircut, don't come here. I am in the process of making another appointment, pay more money, get MORE hair cut so that I look decent. I have this 2 stars because the ladies were so nice and the other stylist was doing such a great job on the other lady. 4/27/18 UPDATE Owner and stylist read my review on Yelp, contacted me, apologized and issued a refund. They're not a bad company and the stylist isn't a bad person. I've seen what she can do, she just didn't get my cut right. As COVID-19 quarantine shut-downs began to lift, I thought it would be best to find a new hair stylist. I was referred to Cecilia by my roommate, who is a client of Kim's (the owner). Kim is absolutely amazing and had mentioned that Cecilia is the best at men's cuts. I was excited to try someone new, after leaving my 3.5 year relationship with my previous barber, so I booked an appointment with Cecilia. I am so glad that I did, because Kim is correct; Cecilia is phenomenal! Her communication with me, from booking the appointment to my consultation, was so prompt and completely thorough. I told Cecilia what I was looking for and she gave me just that and more! I asked for guidance and advice for what worked best for my curly head of hair and she provided me with her thoughts and tips.
