Anyway, my friends and I arrived for our reservation. The person who greeted us was friendly. We had to fill out a waiver and then pay before entering. He gave us a quick talk about the concessions, most of which were not available that eventing. He also gave us a bit of direction as to how to throw the ax. He also told us about the house rules. We settled in for a moment. We had all come directly from work, so were a bit hungry and thirsty. We had planned to get dinner nearby after, but wanted a little something at the moment. Unfortunately, we were told they had no pizza that night, so a pretzel was the only option. Also, they had just a few beer options and three mediocre wine options. My friends each had a beer, and I chose a Sauvignon Blanc. The drinks were fine.... nothing special, but we were there for the axes. Surprisingly, the pretzel was pretty good.. Despite the fact that we had been given a 2-minute tutorial about throwing the axes, most of the games they had made no sense to us. We gained a bit of guidance from the group next to us. I also made an effort to ask our staff person some questions. However, I still feel like we had really not clue how the games worked. We were only given one ax for our group of three. It was just one style. I have been axe- throwing before, and they had lots of different possibilities. I remember that I had fun trying the different styles. In my past experience, they also gave us more education about the games we could play together so we didn't feel so lost. They were also more available for consult. I think Axe-Thro is a fine place to go if you want to throw some axes. It is not the best for bar food and dinks, or if you want a little information on the games you are playing.

Xander led us through the safety requirements and then let us practice and take turns while giving follow-up tips. Parents and players had room to move around between the throwing cages. There was a central area with couches and tables for people to hang out too. We could bring in our own sodas and snacks, which was helpful. Overall, it was a great time and neat experience.

I'm not sure about the time limit since I didn't book it, but my husband estimated it was an hour and fifteen minutes total. So about half an hour for the rage room and 45 minutes for axe throwing. Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. Also took a while before someone came out to help (I think they were in the back assisting maybe another customer?) but some signage would help. - Waivers could be sent prior to arrival to save on time since it was a google form - staff could be more welcoming and better at explaining. I understand it may be sketchy to go to a customer's car to evaluate items brought from home since it could be a risk to the staff, but I think it could either be instructed earlier before arrival OR simply just state that you cannot leave the business. The delivery of the comment made by the staff was not very smooth (almost felt like implying we were bringing something bad or wrong). - A timer inside the room might be helpful as it's hard to keep track of time once you're destroying things. - Phone "mount" could be better secured with a clasp or something because one bump and our phone fell on the ground where there's shards and scraps everywhere. This could have easily scratched the phone. - Room felt cramped, but understand that may be limited by the size of the store space. - Half of the group was arriving late, in which I shared upfront and thought that the staff would assist in getting them as ready as possible before our first group came out to swap, but when I came out, I saw that they had not even begun to change. I understand the face shield and gloves are limited quantities, but they could have started fitting in the other items like jumpsuit and face coverings. - Also as we were swapping, I ended up giving the second group the instructions when it really should have been the staff to give them the run through. It felt very disorganized during the swapping. For the price, I think it would be nice if each group received at least one larger item and not just cups, plates, and glass. All-in-all, it was fun to let out some rage by wrecking things and not having to clean it up. My friends and I did enjoy this different experience. Also fun to watch them from the room cam inside the Axe Room as they rage.
