    Jack enjoys his toys
    lisa m.

Our 8 month old Golden Retriever puppy, Jack is not only sweet and adorable but he was getting stronger and feistier by the minute. He was experiencing what our vet calls his adolescent stage. Walking him was challenging, he pulled a lot. Managing his high energy in the house was becoming a bit challenging too. He's our third Golden in the house and his energy level made it challenging for him to settle in. Uncle Steve stepped in to work with Jack, and us at what felt like the perfect time. Jack was ready to learn and enjoyed the mental stimulation. Jack seemed to love Steve too... you could tell because he kept moving closer to him. By the time our training day with Jack and Steve was over, he was exhausted. But the best part was, he had learned so much and it really sunk in. We practice every day and Jack just gets it. He has become such a wonderful part of our family. His interaction with us and the other dogs has improved so much. It's obvious that he's proud of himself and his ability to have some self control. Steve continues to reach out and has offered to meet again at any time. He's a good man with a kind heart and he transformed the dynamics in our house from chaos to joyful. Thank you Uncle Steve

We recently adopted a 1 year old, large golden doodle. He has a super sweet demeanor but was out of our control and we were out of ideas. We tried a slip leash, treat training, YouTube and TikTok videos... nothing was working. We were struggling with extreme leash pulling, reactivity to everything, mindless barking, counter surfing, play biting, jumping.... Basically everything. I found Uncle Steve through Yelp and it sounded too good to be true. I reached out because we were at a loss. Tasha, Steve's wife, responded same day and answered all my questions and got us scheduled. She also promptly responded to my million follow up questions. Steve showed up the day of our training and essentially changed our life. My husband and I were going through it and snapping at each other just because we were so overwhelmed and exhausted in the weeks leading up to Steve coming. Enter Steve. First of all, Steve is just a cool guy to be around. He is so charismatic and kind, so we instantly trusted him and felt at ease. Cooper was initially defiant with the prong collar. Steve got him under control within minutes. The rest of the training, Cooper was so compliant and alert that my husband and I were really able to listen to Steve and follow his instructions without being distracted by our dog barking or lunging. The reviews are real. By the end of the training, Cooper was staying without us holding the leash, recalling, and most importantly, he was HAPPY. He ran into Steve's arms at the end and instantly rolled on his back for belly rubs. I was almost in tears. The prong collar had me nervous, but Steve educates you and you can just see that your dog is meant to have someone leading them... in fact, our dog craved it. The prong collar is just for corrections, not for punishment. Steve makes this very clear. Bonus! We have 2 cats that Cooper couldn't chill out around. Steve owns dogs AND cats, so he knows all about this. His tips are already working. Steve told us to dive right in to exposure after he left, so we took to our daughters soccer game and out to a restaurant within minutes of the training. He was a different dog. Cooper listened, was calm, felt relaxed, and was really just thrilled to be part of family activities. We got compliments from the waiters as to how well behaved he was!!! (What?!?) The attached photo was less than an hour after the training. We weren't holding the leash! Trust Steve! He has the best intentions for your dog and he shows that through his actions. They are a great couple and very educated. In fact, we are boarding Cooper with them in a month and we know Cooper will have the time of his life. Do it so your dog can enjoy more of life with you. Thanks Steve and Tasha!

Steve just trained our crazy puppy in 4 hours. Just 4 hours. And he left us all the tools and advice to make his training stick. Steve is truly a dog whisperer--works with all breeds, and knows their particular strengths and weaknesses. This is the second dog Steve trained with my family. Steve also follows up with calls, will continue advising if needed, and will board the dogs he's trained at his beautiful ranch. We're so appreciative of him and his skills and steady hand. I trust nobody else to do what Steve does.

    Our beautiful GSD, Molly.

We love Tasha, Steve and all things Miles Ranch. Thanks for helping make Molly (our GSD rescue) such an important (and well-behaved) part of our lives. You rock, Betsy, Bill and Molly

My puppy is being trained by Steve and man let me tell you! The first day Steve and Remi girl met he educated us on almost everything that we will learn in the stages of all her life. He is always there to educate me on what I have questions on (car behavior, staying calm and quite while passing others pups on a walk, etc) Steve takes you through your journey in creating a great relationship with your pup. Steve has not only built confidence in my Remi girl but also in me! He's great, so educating, loving, approachable and always so encouraging! Thank you Uncle Steve for changing our lives!

When I initially called Steve to inquire about training for my 3.6 year old cavapoo, I knew Steve would be the right person. I was looking for a trainer who would be able to correct my dog's misbehavior with new people in the house. He barks incessantly and shows signs of aggression. Steve knew exactly what to do to correct his behavior. When he came over our place it was a matter of minutes when my dog started to act better once Steve entered the house. We have been doing at least 5 minutes of training everyday and my dog has improved so much. It's been 3 weeks now and I can say that he is a different dog! I feel more comfortable having him meet new people without fear that he will lunge at them or bark. The trust i've built with my dog in only a few weeks has been incredible and I thank Steve for his wisdom and training. The training he provided I realized was less for the dog, but for me!

    Ellington is well behaved now.

Ok we are feeling so confident and calm. After our day class with Steve! Thank you for putting peace and joy back into our home. These two frenchies got schooled. We are so ready to walk proudly. With our two cuties and know they are well behaved. We are continue our training. We are ready with the right tools now. Thank you to coming for us. Having clear sustainable training. We know we will be successful.

When I first brought my dog home, he was a recent rescue, very undisciplined, and difficult to handle. Josh immediately understood that the training needed to involve both of us -- not just my dog, but me as well. He taught me how to communicate clearly, set boundaries, and handle my dog with confidence and consistency. Over the past two years, we have met with Josh in person more than a dozen times, and he has always been available by text or phone whenever I needed guidance. That kind of support is rare and incredibly valuable. The transformation in my dog has been amazing. He is now well behaved, much calmer, and far easier to manage. It is obvious that Josh truly loves dogs and has a real passion for helping them. When you watch him work, you can see how much he cares. I honestly think Josh has become my dog's favorite friend. I highly recommend Josh and Bark Busters West to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and committed dog trainer.

She couldn't leave my side, cried the moment I walked away. It was overall super stressful. Josh helped me understand where that anxiety was truly coming from. Turns out, IT WAS ME! He encouraged me to create healthy boundaries with Mango and offered practical solutions, along with dietary supplements, to support her emotionally and physically. I had no idea that excess energy could actually contribute to anxiety in dogs! Josh suggested adjusting her meal plan, and that alone made a huge difference. He also gave me plenty of tips and tricks to help Mango naturally regulate her anxiety. And since his program includes lifetime training, he's continued to guide me whenever I have questions or notice old behaviors resurfacing. Josh reassured me that if I stayed consistent with the regimen he provided, Mango would be okay, and he was absolutely right. She's like a whole new dog now! At 4 years old She can stay home calmly without destroying furniture or becoming overly needy. I'm beyond grateful to Josh for his guidance and to his partner, Nicole, who helped me prepare for our first session. If you get a chance to talk to Nicole, let her know she's an absolute gem! so kind and caring, even behind the scenes!

She was quiet and a bit confused in those early days, and we honestly didn't know what "normal" even looked like. We started working with Jared literally the day after we brought her home, and that made all the difference. Instead of guessing or reacting, we started to feel like we actually knew what she needed and how to respond. He guided us through the basics like potty training and getting her to sleep through the night, and once those clicked, life got dramatically easier. Our first trainer took one look at him and basically told us we'd adopted a tiny, bearded landmine. She called him "one of the most reactive dogs she'd ever met" and gave us the kind of "good luck" that usually precedes a disaster movie. Enter Mike Hatjes from Bay Area Dog Training. We found Mike on Yelp, and honestly, we were just looking for a miracle. Mike is a unique breed himself: he's incredibly direct (no sugar-coating the fact that your dog thinks he's the CEO of Chaos) but also hilarious. He balances that "tell-it-like-it-is" energy with a sense of humor that kept us from losing our minds. The Transformation Timeline: * The Private Lesson Phase (8 Sessions): We went from "we can't leave the house" to "wait, is he actually sitting on command?" By the end of our eight private lessons, we were taking regular walks.
