Before I started with Wikidfit, I was already a member at a gym chain in Boston and I considered signing up for their personal training, but I didn't like the format: it was too formulaic, too expensive and their trainers were too inexperienced. I wanted to find someone who could engage my head while I learned; I didn't need someone to simply sound motivating while they walked me through a set of exercises. Dale's style was exactly what I was looking for: he explains the theory behind what he is doing. He works with each person differently, depending on their goals (yes, even when working with multiple people at a time). He focuses on form and proper mechanics--even after a year I still have much to learn! Each workout is different and I usually leave every 45 minute session feeling like I put everything I had into it. A year later I am stronger, I have built a healthy habit and I'm continuing to learn--it has been a great match.

Corrections were delivered with a tone that felt less like guidance and more like condescension. At times, it honestly felt like the trainer was more interested in pointing out what I was doing wrong than helping me improve. I get that some people thrive on the "no-nonsense" approach -- but there's a fine line between pushing someone and shutting them down. Several times, I left class feeling worse about myself than when I walked in, and that's not why I signed up. A little empathy goes a long way, especially in a fitness environment where people are already vulnerable. If you're looking for a place that emphasizes progress and encouragement, you might want to keep looking.

However, I could not have asked for a better trainer than Federico! He trains with technique and is very strategic about what movements to do to target certain muscle groups. The culture is amazing; almost no one is talking or making a fuss nor are there a lot of the aforementioned 'content creator'. Agreeing with the consensus that the staff is kind and efficient. 5 stars on this locally owned gym was easy to write, but I almost don't want to post so I can keep this gym a secret. As a previous college athlete, I love the environment and I'm excited to get back into my old shape hahaha. The cleanest gym I've been to. With the 'no contract and no start up fee' standard, commuting to this gym is still a no brainer even if it does add a bit more travel time. The popular '$200 a month, class based' gyms in the city are extremely overly priced and I (respectfully) think they are suited for a particular type of person. I write this review as someone who has solely weight lifted for years, then cross trained, then prepped, etc. Lifting for 10 years now, I've been to a lot of different gyms and I agree with another comment about 'feeling at home' (which is especially important as a girl at a gym that's mostly men!) There are several distinct spaces that make it feel like you can find a corner of the gym and focus. The space isn't overly loud and there is great natural light. The sheer amount of equipment is impressive. The staff are really nice and helpful, they know most members by name which is great. Pricing is competitive. Locker rooms could probably use an overhaul and there aren't amenities like saunas, but overall really nice gym.

Now, this is a smaller PF location, much smaller than the 24/5 locations nearby like the Dorchester Neponset one & the Quincy one. Also, smaller than the newer Hyde Park one. This one is one floor and upon entering, there are a solid amount of treadmills & cardio machines to your left. Towards the back, you will find only a few smith squat machines, from my memory I believe they only had 2 or 3 of them. The yellow zone in right behind the smith machines at this location. This is a decent location to go to if you live close by but it is important to note that they are limited on machines. Also, lighting here is not the best, very dim lighting and is one of the only PFs that I have been to that actually turns on the lunk alarm, usually to notify people that they are closing soon. Parking: lots of parking available as there is a large lot! Free parking.

There was an iPad/tablet set up by the front desk where I was able to check myself in. I was not sure where the class was located but staff was very helpful and walked me downstairs to the spin class. Their upstairs/main level seemed to be where all the machines are and yoga/pilates classes. The gym was actually a lot bigger than I thought. Downstairs was where spin classes are held and they had a women's locker room down there as well. The locker room was clean, had showers, hairdryers, etc. This was the first spin class I have taken that was not through SoulCycle and the bikes were a little different but similar enough that I was able to figure it out. Overall, not a bad class. I'm used to a bit more choreography on the handle bars but still a nice class! I would totally switch to this gym if only they were open a little later because I do enjoy working out at night sometimes. Parking is a little tricky in this area. If there's not a spot on the main street (Granite), I would check on the side of Bruegger's Bagels or on Adams St.

She is a great instructor, always tweaking the formats to improve our workouts and eliciting feedback from members to ensure we are getting the most out of each class. She knows everyone by name and it truly feels like a community. I have taken both the boxing HIIT class and strength and conditioning class. Boxing HIIT encompasses circuits including boxing combos on the bag, alternating with HIIT (eg burpees, jump squats, jumping jacks, etc), with rounds of dumbbell work and abs mixed in. It is truly a full body workout. I took my boyfriend to a class and he was absolutely drenched in sweat by the end. Strength and conditioning is more of a traditional circuit format with alternating exercises focused on strengthening your arms, legs, back, and core. They also have boxing technique classes, youth boxing, and kickboxing classes throughout the week, and now sparring on Sunday. They just introduced women's only kickboxing class on Saturday morning which I am super excited to try out! Overall such a great addition to the JP community and one of my fav local businesses.

I stood there for about 10 mins, he never even acknowledge my presence, just talking on the phone and smiling. Returned about 1.5 hours later. The same guy was flirting with a lady, never acknowledged my presence. After a few minutes, Daniel, assistant mgr appeared. I started by mentioning that the previous mgr offered to waive enrollment fee for me. Daniel said it was impossible for him to do. I offered to pay in full for a whole year - no help. But Daniel never mentioned that Crunch website was offering enrollment special for a reduced enrollment fee of 26 cents. I've decided to to pay in full anyway, for convenience. Daniel wrote a contract where numbers make absolutely no sense, he never offered to show me the contract ( I trusted him because I had such a good memories of talking with Patrick, the previous manager) The total is $189. Almost $50 more than the website offer. The next day I wrote about the problem to the manager@crunchRoslindale.com. Five days and no reply. I was out of state for 5 days. Today, 1.4.2026, I went in person to try resolve the problem. Daniel refused any help. I am surprised that $50 is more important than a happy, retuning customer. Jay Halicki
