And the same director stated only thing they did wrong was not have an incident report ready for me! And in our meeting brings up my Facebook post talking about the situation and how they failed my son. Beyond unprofessional!!!! The person above her also had to have a DCF report on themselves for neglect and place a staff member on leave!! ( I thought the only thing done wrong was the missing incident report!? ) My child was failed !! And they do not even care I have heard nothing but excuses ! I can not press charges on the little boy because of his age, the little boy also admitted to smacking my son in the head with the rock because my son said he had a girlfriend!! Dorchester YMCA only cares about the money and not these children and now my son is left to suffer and I'm stuck trying to find new locations for all my children !! They call themselves the best but yet are lying and trying to protect themselves !!

It's right in the Charlestown Navy Yard which explains it. They have a lot of the YMCA staples--classes, indoor pool, gym, equipment, and sauna (mixed gender sauna). I came here and played basketball a few times and its always the same people. It can get a little rowdy and competitive at times so if that isn't your thing, this might not be the place for you. As for the staff they have always been helpful with any questions I had. If you plan on discontinuing your membership just remember to give someone a heads up at the front desk. You have to give them notice 15 days or something before your next billing cycle to get your paper work done and on time. Just wish they had more room and courts. Lately, we've been accepting too many, or too many people have been accepting us, and the facilities can't keep up. I've seen this happen with the library and the student centers too. Aside from that, Marino is a really great college facility. It's one of the newer buildings on our campus. The bottom floor has a large space with many tables to study and/or eat, and is connected to an Au Bon Pain, a Boloco, and a Wollaston's (Northeastern's "grocery store"). There's also a spin studio, but you have to be signed up for a class in order to use it. You need your student ID to swipe into the gym. No other ID will do. Once you get in, you exchange your ID for a lock in order to put your stuff in the locker room. If you try to go up to the gym with a bag of any sort, the staff will stop you and make you lock it up. I've always wondered why there isn't an in and out door for each locker room. There's only one door to enter and exit, which makes it difficult in the busy times of day. I'm constantly waiting for people to come out and holding the door, or hitting people who are coming in while I'm trying to get out. If they ever remodel, this would be the first thing I'd suggest. The actual locker rooms aren't bad. Lots of space, a sauna, showers, and a scale. Nothing too fancy. The second floor is home to cardio equipment, free weights, two classrooms for group fitness, and a large gym that is usually split into three sections for basketball, field hockey, and a free space. The third floor has a bit more cardio equipment, but it's mostly machines. There's a separate room for big buff people to use. There's also an elevated track for running, walking, or whatever you'd like. Each semester, I sign up for group fitness. It's $50 for the entire semester, and you can take up to one class a day, every single day. It's a really great deal. Recently, my roommate has become an instructor here, so I'm even more motivated to take classes. They offer a range, from beginner cardio and abs, to a more advanced HEAT (high energy athletic training). If you're a student at Northeastern, I suggest you check it out. The facility is nice, always clean, and staffed well. There are always clean, warm towels to grab on your way up and down, which is a nice touch. They have a nice array of machines, and the group fitness option is great. I just wish they would expand a bit, because finding a treadmill at 5:00pm on a weeknight is almost impossible.

Good to see that they offer life jackets, noodles, and other floaties. Staff hand out different colored necklaces to kids depending on their swimming level (red dotted = can't swim, red = can swim a bit but can't go to deep end, yellow = can swim to deep end). Overall ok until I saw a floating bandaid in the deep end and clump of hair on the deck. Family locker room is clean. They have soap if you want to rinse. Need to scan pass in order to enter (turnstyle like paying before entering the mbta train). That's good because other locations, everyone can enter without checking IDs or memberships. Machines can use an update. I didn't use but a family member said they are old.

My membership is discounted due to being an alum but they also offer discounts for employees of Longwood Medical Area. I use the pool a few times and week and have always been happy with the lap times available and the maintenance of the pool. The Sports Center has the standard feel of any collegiate gym meaning the basics are there, they see a lot of use and it's not fancy. The place is well taken care of, the staff are very nice and they also have swim lessons available. The pool is great and the membership is very reasonable. I definitely recommend it!
