I was really nervous at the idea of injectables, and I'm so picky I was afraid I wouldn't like the outcome. Great news, I LOVE the results. I am so happy with Dr. de Pena's work- he listened to all of my concerns and performed my filler with the utmost care and consideration of my goals and got me the subtle, natural look I wanted. I couldn't be more satisfied with my appointment with Dr. Tye de Pena. He is incredibly knowledgeable, honest, fair, and compassionate. I enjoyed him so much. Just 30 minutes after just one tattoo removal session, my tattoo was at least 50% reduced. Results with tattoo removal vary greatly, but I am just amazed with the difference I am seeing. I have been to a few different esthetic spas around the Santa Cruz and Bay Area, and I can easily say my experience at Santa Cruz Med Spa w by far the most satisfying and rewarding. You will not be disappointed with SC Med Spa!

I supposedly got more botox (40 units) than I've ever had which I didn't even want because I don't really need it. Then it actually didn't work very well at all. So I found that very odd considering that I am sensitive to botox and have only had it done a few times. In the future, I'll be going to an experienced female physician. I really would not recommend.

I drove over 30 minutes one way and had to fill out a ton of paperwork for the 1 simple question I had. I had to wait past my scheduled appointment time. Upon entering the consult room, I was immediately handed 2 brochures (without anyone looking at my skin) and told they really only offer 1 service for the face. The consult was maybe 5 minutes at the most (and that's because I asked questions). It wasn't a true consult. I could have saved a lot of time and unnecessary paperwork (identify theft is real these days) if they could have just answered my question over the phone in 10 seconds. On principle, I won't be receiving services from this place and will look elsewhere.

I paid my consultation fee and showed up to my appointment only to have the doctor walk in and inform me that they don't offer that treatment. So I received no consultation or exam, yet they kept my consultation fee, despite the fact that they knew which treatment I wanted, they don't even do it there, and the doctor spoke to me for all of 2 minutes, if that. I was very clear in advance about the treatment that I was booking an appointment for. Apparently it was just a mixup on their end and those I spoke with weren't aware that the treatment isn't something that Ultraderm does. But they never refunded the consultation fee, which I think is unethical to say the least. I spoke to someone who said that they would follow up, and they never did. The whole experience felt super disorganized and frustrating.

I can be overly picky and detail-oriented, to a fault, but Jaeny exceeded even my highest expectations--which I don't even realistically expect to be met especially having undergone these procedures so many times before with other providers at other businesses, etc. I'm rating this business and Jaeny 5 stars, first and foremost, because of the level of unmatched skill (in my opinion), experience, and expertise that Jaeny brings, which showed in the results I've achieved, and secondarily, I'm rating this business 5 stars, because certain values/traits such as honesty, integrity and customer service are just as important to me. Specifically, the office staff were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable; and I also appreciate the upfront and transparent pricing the business offers. Pricing itself isn't necessarily my utmost concern (I'm willing to pay more for above and beyond results), but price transparency, consistency, and overall honesty in dealings and practices as a business are so vitally important to me, on personal principles, and it was apparent from my very first interaction with the business that this is exactly how they operate. (They also happen to offer very reasonable and market-aligned pricing, along with discounted packages, etc., for those wondering.) I want to conclude with my sincerest compliments and gratitude to the one-and-only Jaeny (because you are so uniquely skilled at what you do) for thoroughly indulging me by listening to everything I had to say, and what I was looking to achieve, looking at all of the photos I brought in, lol--going above and beyond to truly understand what I was looking to accomplish, and then fulfilling each and every single one of my expectations, beyond what I had hoped. I'm so glad I found this place and I look forward to coming back!

I am not quite ready for Botox, but want to preserve the youthfulness that I still have. Enter my face card polishing queen: Alicia. I started getting jet plasma with Alicia in 2022. Despite researching the process, I was feeling anxious about the entire thing- would it hurt, what's my downtime, am I allowed to laugh? After answering my million questions, we dove into a full face jet plasma treatment that has resulted in me getting carded regularly (I am 46). I have gone back to Alicia for jet 3X a year ever since. Under her gentle hand, the appearance and texture of my skin has transformed in ways I couldn't have believed four years ago. My crows feet are more like baby toes. The hyperpigmentation on my cheeks from years of sun damage has lightened so much I have been able to stop wearing foundation. And I don't need Botox!- but now that her practice has expanded with a nurse and doctor on board, that option is available to me down the road if I so choose. (A huge thank you to Nurse Hannah for talking to me about Xeomin and Daxxify at length.) On a final note~ I spent years in the service industry, taking care of people. In the Volta studio, I sense that same level of care- like there is a team quietly working behind the scenes to make something perfect, just for me. I appreciate Alicia so much not just for rescuing my skin, but for the tender and professional way she cares for me as a person. And also for all the times I have to show my ID to buy wine.

After almost 2 years and a lot of deliberation, consideration, and reflection, I am writing a…read morereview about my experience at Volta Vitality. When I first reached out to Alicia, I asked to treat the back of my neck and inner elbows that had a thinner layer of skin from an overuse of topical steroids years ago due to chronic eczema. I was not interested in treating any areas with active eczema. However, after meeting, she convinced me to do cold jet plasma on my face as well as under my eyes which had active eczema. She mentioned that it treats inflammation and redness, and that there is no downtime and safe since it is "cold plasma". I paid 500 dollars for three 1-hour sessions a week apart. The third session is when the damage to the texture of my undereye skin occurred. I'm not sure whether she was in a hurry, or wanted to experiment, but it occurred after the fact that something went wrong during my treatment. I had a little inflammation under my eyes and with the inflammation comes crepiness. Mind you, in my healed, inactive state, the skin was not crepey whatsoever. In fact, I never had insecurities about the quality of skin on my face, other than eczema. But when she passed the wand under my eyes, I felt warmth there that I did not feel during the first two sessions. I didn't mention anything at the time because I thought nothing could go wrong since it was a "non-invasive" procedure. Initially, the treatment seemed to help with the redness. However, as time passed, I noticed some residual red spots that did not heal and were not typical for me. I reached out to advise her that there were spots that did not smoothen out and appeared like burns, and that when the burns finally healed, there were very visible new wrinkles that appeared from the scaring/burns. She replied that she noticed my concern and that the area under the eyes is "super sensitive". She went on to further say, "there was a chance that they were still irritated due to the treatment but that there was no way that any scarring would occur because the device doesn't use heat and has no way to induce any tissue damage." She also tried to do damage control by saying it looked better than before and tried to show me pre-op photos marking the inflamed areas and minimal crepiness. Yes, it was minimally crepey but it was crepey due to the inflammation. This left me feeling completely invalidated. It felt like I was being gaslit to believe that there was no way the treatment could cause the damage and that not only was it in my imagination, but that it was pre-existing, which was not the case AT ALL. I know what my skin looks like, active eczema and non-active and I did NOT have crepey undereyes when my skin was stable. It had even texture and skin tone when inflammation was gone. Upon reflection, I find it insulting and disrespectful to gaslight a client, making them feel like they don't know their OWN skin. I only met her a few times, she's not a dermatologist and didn't have a comprehensive history on the condition of my skin. She didn't extend an invitation for me to come back into the studio to have a second look or offer a refund. In my mind, it seemed she did not want to address my post op concern. No follow up on how it was doing, just advice such as applying moisturizing serums and peptides (which looking back and after doing research, was wrong advice as well). It needed skin barrier repair products, not actives. I did my own research, and although it is a cold jet plasma device, it indeed can induce tissue damage if an area is over treated or intensity is too high, as it does produce heat. Furthermore, it is not supposed to be used on active eczema. Looking back, I felt desperate to find a solution for my thinning skin and I felt completely taken advantage of by Alicia. I believe she saw an opportunity to treat active eczema, and convinced me to try it, even though clearing it was NOT my chief concern. It was my first cosmetic procedure ever, and I learned the hard way that I must do my own research and advocate for myself more aggressively. I left her studio feeling gaslit and insecurity about a new area that I never had before, now hyper fixating on my undereyes and trying to come up with solutions on how to get it closer to the state it was in before cold jet plasma. I have been working on and spending a lot of money trying to repair the damage since 5/24, but the texture is still not the same and there are demarcated spots where the burns were. It May not be noticeable to anyone, but it is noticeable to Me, and that is valid. AND I will NOT accept gaslighting, or manipulative tactics as a response to my review. Overall, I believe I was a victim of unethical practices by Alicia and for that, cannot recommend this service to anyone.
