One of the techs was getting trained on the platelets technique, but even with that small bump, everyone was very professional, and I was acknowledged when I arrived and ready for my blood donation within an hour or so after my allotted time. Being two techs on site, they were smoothly getting folks prepped, set up on the machines, and out the door. I'm glad to know this location is available close to home. Vitals were done, I was soon on the slouchy chair to give up some of my whole blood. There were two employees manning the place that Sunday and three donating in the platelets drive area, which means they were there for at least two hours. My vein was pierced, the life juice went into the prepped baggy, and I received a lovely shirt, and there was even a cute water bottle this month! Great place to help others who might need that pint of blood.

No other donors were present when we arrived on a late Friday afternoon. The check-in process and completion of required forms takes a few minutes, but it's easily carried out via tablet. The 2 ladies assisting us were friendly and helpful. I had no issues completing the entire process for a successful donation, but my son started to feel woozy while his blood was being drawn. The staff was very attentive, making sure his condition improved using cooling towels, a drink and snack. They encouraged him to take his time recovering, making him feel at ease. I really appreciated their sincere concern and care. The interior of the bus is clean, bright and pretty chilly. Good idea to have a jacket. The rewards you'll receive are a bonus, but giving blood is a very worthwhile, impactful practice that goes a long way to help others.

The Red Cross responds to local disasters on a daily basis, such as house fires, which occur many times a day in Greater Central Florida. Working with multiple agencies, the Red Cross makes sure that victims of disaster are set up with immediate care for temporary housing, food, counseling and so much more. This local chapter in Orlando has an amazing team in place, balancing logistics, client care, volunteers and also offers a plethora of courses to the community in a variety of fields, such as certification for CPR/First Aid and more. The road to becoming a certified volunteer is rigorous and there are many courses to complete, but so very worth the time invested. I arrived to my appointment early per the request of Advent, however , I still had a wait despite being the only person there. Once I was called back, Lorinda was my CT scan technician. She is awesome. I remembered her from the last time I was there. She made sure I was comfortable & she explained the entire process in detail to ease my worries. She also was a pro a finding one of my stubborn veins since I needed to do a scan with contrast. The building is newer and so are the machines. It's clean & a great location.

The appointment time was 5:15 and we arrived on time. We have been to this location before and have had good experiences with the technicians and staff. The technician took my family member back at 5:54 for the imaging. Everyone has been very polite and kind. You can tell they care about the quality of care their patients receive.
