Odd how they're out of so many things for lunch, but at least the server was kind. Stewed pork had good flavor, tender meat and generous portions (gravy on rice is the way), but overall it could use some salt and could be much spicier. Got a dumplin, which had no filling and was just a doughy, thick fried donut ball, but dipped it in the stew/gravy and mmmm. Would try it again. I wonder if they make their own beef patties. Mac and cheese: absolutely no seasoning--tastes like boiled pasta with supermarket cheddar. Beef patty: the least disappointing item, but even that's flat and under-spiced. Nothing about this restaurant reads as authentic Jamaican, and I'd be surprised if the kitchen is run by anyone who grew up there. The service, food and ambience is not great. Typically, when the service at these sort of restaurants is bad, the food is good. This isn't the case here. Coco bread was undercooked. Beef patty wasn't flavorful and neither was the salmon dish that I ordered. There was caution tape in the restaurant. And the service was not friendly. read more

I've had better but I'll definitely come back to try more. There's a seating area (closed because of COVID) and the staff are friendly and move efficiently. It's a good neighborhood restaurant but nothing to travel across town for. They give a nice serving but it's missing flavor. Great for people who don't like "over seasoned" food. The overall experience of only one was okay. Coming on a Wednesday night I was able to quickly get me food. I got a small stew chicken with rice and peas. The portion was very descent. Also got a beef Patty along with a cream soda. The service was fast and friendly. The food was solid. If you are looking for Jamaican food only one is your place. The chicken was juicy and melted off the bones but it was a bit bland. Next time I'll ask for oxtail gravy which will help. I enjoyed the rice peas. I've been coming here for years, and I came back home from Atlanta and I see they upgraded everything inside. So I figured everything would be even better if not equally as good as it was before. The line was long like it always is, so I had no reason to think it wouldn't be the same tasting food! When I was sick. I swore by this chicken soup, but now, i don't even know what to call it. Barely any dumplings or flavor. I ordered an oxtail plate and they were all SMALL and bones when. I asked for extra gravy and you'd think I asked for a SSN or something. IT'S NOT RIGHT!!! What is going on in there?! The quality of the food is poor, the plates are small and they over charge! I ordered a medium oxtail plate and the amount of fat left on the pieces was outrageous... A medium plate is $18 before the 6.5% tax. MA tax is 6.25% btw, so they added an additional 0.25% to the already ridiculous amount being paid for the terrible food that they are passing off as "authentic Jamaican cuisine." I believe they are willfully taking advantage of the predominant demographic in the area and that's just NOT RIGHT!!! I am shocked! If this were Dorchester they would not be able to get away with it nor would they attempt to.... The people would have corrected them immediately!!! Let me start by saying everyone's tastes are different. This place has been open for a while and I finally decided to stop in and try after my daughter urged me to... she recently visited the Dorchester location with friends. She raved about the goat and wanted to try more. Feels like family spot and always a line inside and I like to support local restaurants so I was game. Decided to try basics to start. Can't go wrong with patties but the jerk chicken seriously hurt my feelings. Only dark meat options which is ok but the 'gravy' was the most confusing concoction I have ever tasted. My 'people' love our condiments/gravy/sauces but this one was at best a brown cafeteria like soup with no distinct flavor. Jerk chicken goes with jerk sauce but this gravy was not it - brown colored liquid! I was just confused and it ruined my entire dish. Tasted the goat and seriously questioned the curry content; bland and watery. Think she was more excited to try a new meat option but having grown up on the dish I was not impressed.....With my Trini taste buds I likely won't be a repeat visitor, but I think you should judge for yourself. My suggestion is please come up a real jerk sauce and add some more spice and I will try again, but for now I will pass. read more

So she puts the rice in first then she proceeds to put stewed chicken on my plate. It was my first time at this establishment, the food had no taste. I ordered Oxtail and rice. There was more browning on the oxtails than anything else. I will not be going again.
