The dr had her take her shirt on and off 4 times cause she kept forgetting to do Somthing then the student man didnt walk out or ask if it's okay to stay he just turn around and then she like I have no idea what's wrong feels around gets her phone to measure lump then says let get an ultrasound they give us the order I ask ware it is they hand me paper with directions I take her just now and there like there no code on paper we have to call so I can sat on hold they come out and say we don't do this here anyways so I'm like what they finally answere phone then put me on hold so I drove over be fore they answer and ask what's up ware do we go they said she goes to hospital for mri and women's clinic for ultrasound and they said who sent u I said ..... and they go that's y I don't work with her I'm like wait no one said mri and u say u don't work with her ‍ read more

My son has been coming here since he was a year and a half (he is now almost 4). We went in this morning because a rash kept spreading across his cheeks and down into his neck. The one great thing about the entire experience was that they worked him in within an hour of me calling. If you are looking for an office with friendly receptionists, this is not the place. If you are told you are going to see Ms. Georgia, kindly ask for someone else. This is our second time with her and I will never have my son seen by her again. She never introduced herself or said hello as she entered our exam room. She sat down and asked where his rash was. This entrance is how she acted the last time to (but we were there for another issue). I'm not quite sure why she didn't know where the rash was since the nurse that had already seen us documented that already..? After re-answering all of the same questions the nurse had asked, she started to lift his shirt without any warning. He of course wasn't ready or prepared for her to start doing that and was resistant. She got very stern with him for not immediately cooperating. Next, she checked his ears by lying him down. He was still resisting and she started to get a little physical by holding him down. Now I normally understand providers must do this, but I have always been asked to assist them. She gave us a possible diagnosis and when I asked whether it was contagious, she treated me like I was an idiot. I asked if he could be around other children or babies since thanksgiving is in 2 days and we will be around some. She said to just use common sense. After that I had nothing else to say to her. I had to wait for her to complete some things on her computer. Then she handed me a checkout sheet and said "You can go now." While I have never had any issues with the physicians, nurses or the other young girl (who I believe is a PA), I will never have my son see her again. I'm to the point that I want to change practices because of her. read more

My kids both go to Onslow Pediatrics, and the doctors that we see, I love. I recommend Onslow Peds for those specific doctors. There are definitely doctors there that I do not like -- and one in particular that I absolutely HATED. My older son, who is only 21 months old now, saw Dr. Kale twice when he was a baby. The first time was the Saturday after we got out of the hospital from having him, and he was the only doctor there, I think. He seemed drunk, honestly. He was slurring his speech, for example. And he was extremely rude. I saw Dr. Kale again a second time, when my son was a little older, and he was terrible again. He made my son cry throughout the appointment, largely because of how rough he was with him. This was a baby we were dealing with, and he handled him roughly and was very short and mean. His demeanor was almost like he was angry at my son. I honestly don't understand why this man is a pediatrician when he seems to literally HATE children. The clinic owner, Dr. Gant, is all right. Some visits with him left a good impression; others, a very poor one. For the most part, though, my kids see Dr. Max and Kim Lewis, a physician's assistant. I cannot say enough how much I love, love, LOVE these two doctors. And my kids both love them too. Oh my goodness, they are wonderful. As bad as Dr. Kale was, this is how great these two are. Dr. Max is who my older son sees almost exclusively. He'll come in and sing to him, for example, and is so sweet and fun. I've noticed as Ben gets older that he tailors his methods for him... letting him play with the stethoscope now that he's older, for example, and singing to him on the exam table when he was younger. Kim Lewis is who my younger son with Down syndrome sees, and she is great with him as well. She's very knowledgeable. I don't have to ask her to make referrals for anything. She put in his thyroid checkup at six months, for example, without me having to ask. And while I've heard from other DS moms that they have to fight their doctors to put in some therapy referrals, that's not the case with Kim. I've never had to fight her for anything. Dr. O is also a great doctor who I like very much. This is a very busy clinic, and sometimes you'll have to wait, but as I've said in other reviews, that's the case with almost ALL doctors' offices. You can specify which doctor you want to see, so if you find one you don't like (ahem, Dr. Kale) you can avoid seeing them. So I'd recommend Onslow Pediatrics... just give it a few visits to find which doctor you're most comfortable with and then stick with them. read more

I've been taking my children there for almost 26 years. As you read these reviews please note the dates. Partners, nurses, office personnel come and go, however Dr. Gant is the founder and presently active in his practice. He is the best. My children have aged out of Onslow Pediatrics as of next month and we will miss Dr. Gant, his long time assistant CJ and their way of listening and responding in a respectful way. They have come a long way over the years in the wait times. I hope everyone has a doctor at least once in their life that connects as well as Dr. James Gant has with my children and with me. read more

We've been going there since my daughter has been 5 months old and our experience up until today was pretty good. However, I'm here to let everyone know why we are leaving the practice and hopefully will inform any other parents about my experience today. Today was my daughter's appointment with her doctor, Dr Max. But upon our escort back to the exam room, I was told that we'd be seeing the PA (physician's assistant). I found that odd and a bit annoying to begin with because there is a practice in Sneads ferry that is all PAs that is a mile from my house, and I drove 40 minutes to OP to have a doctor. That being said, during the appointment, I was told that my daughter should be saying words like "mama" and "dada", and that because she's not saying them yet, that she was marking my child as having a speech delay. When I tried to tell the PA that she makes other consonant sounds, she interrupted me and told me that my daughter may be deaf (TRUST ME....this child is not deaf. She responds to all sorts of sounds) and when I told her this, she told me that I'm not talking to her enough and I need to "try harder". For all you military moms out there, you know that our kids are our only people to talk to the majority of the week so you KNOW I'm talking to my daughter A TON. When I told her THIS, she insinuated that I was a liar and said "well you're obviously not talking to her because she'd be saying these words by now if you were." Not only did this PA insult me as a mother she then told me that my 9 month old should be eating "table meats".......this is absolutely NOT true. She doesn't even have teeth yet. She should not be eating pieces of chicken and steak. (If you feed your child these foods at 9 months and they can handle them, good for you....definitely not saying you shouldn't do that....just saying my daughter should not be!!). Needless to say, I've been working so hard to teach my daughter to crawl, stand, mash food, and make noises and I left that office today feeling completely inadequate and defeated. WHICH IS WRONG. (Please note: Dr. max is a great doctor and very nice person and I know my experience today would have been very different if I had seen him like we were supposed to.) read more

Dr Max is the MOST AMAZING Pediatrician I have had in 3 states for my son. Such amazing care with my son and spoke to my husband and I as parent's, not idiots. He took every question seriously and ever concern he addressed. Even when my son was scared and started screaming, Dr Max took it in stride and just kept reassuring my son. The reason I only give them 2 stars is because of the blond checkout receptionist. She was unnecessarily rude and VERY condescending. She acted like she knew everything about my child and why the Dr prescribed us returning. She finally said she would talk to the doctor and call me back later that day. That was a week ago and I have not heard from her. Everyone else in that office is honestly AMAZING. I am very pleased. I just wish she would get some better training or maybe move to a profession that doesn't involve interacting with people. read more

I called this morning around 8, was offered a 9 am appt to get swabs for what I thought (and was) strep. Arrived, they offered to do strep and if it was negative I could come back for a covid test. I said can we do both now? Did both. Was told by person doing swabs I would have a call in about 30 minutes with results.. called at 10, 11, was told Danielle would call as soon as she was back from lunch in 30 min, no call. I called at 1:20, was told no one was available to talk to me. Ok, so I would wait til 4:15 for my teleconference. 2:30 the HEALTH DEPARTMENT called (I still have yet to talk to my provider. I was mad, why can someone else call and give me results but over 3 calls not one person could spend 30 seconds on the phone with me. 4:00 I finally reach the office. Get the results her strep was positive and covid. Ok, now what? I specifically asked for the Walgreens on richlands hwy in Jacksonville. I even stated, there is one in Jacksonville and one in richlands. Danielle confirmed the one in Jacksonville. Get to Walgreens... they don't have my prescription, I need to drive to richlands. I switched here because JCMC uses a ca center for their incoming calls, and I wanted a more personal drs office for my children's care. I will deal with the answering service because even on their worst days, they are a much much better drs office. read more

By far the best pediatric doctors office I've ever seen. My kids are treated with love and respect and the doctors value the opinion of my wife and I. I wish I would of found this place sooner. Lived in the area for eight years now and have gone through several doctors for our kids but now we have FINALLY found the best place in town. Dr. Gant is awesome, we have four kids ranging from age 14 through 1 and he treats all of them like they're a part of his extended family. The kids really think he's great and they seem to really enjoy the supporting staff as well. Something I have noticed is sometimes we end up in the waiting room for a little while, like with all doctor offices, but you know I realized the first time we were there the reason we had an extended wait was because the doctors actually sit down with you and give you their full undivided attention. They didn't care how many questions my wife asked, their face wasn't buried in some computer with their back turned to you, and they weren't rushing you out the door. It was like they actually cared and you weren't just some number or a dollar sign. I don't know about you, but I appreciate that. I think my kids deserve the best doctor money can buy (thankfully they're not overly expensive), and when they're sick I think they deserve the doctors undivided attention. Great Doctors, Great Staff. Thanks for taking care of my family OPA, keep up the good work and we'll be seeing you for the next eighteen years. read more

I am changing my son's pediatrician immediately. I have tried too many times with this place and they do not care whatsoever about their patients. My son is a very happy go lucky kid. When he was screaming all day and night I took him in first thing in the morning to see what was going on with him. The doctor (bigger blonde lady) was rude and you could tell she did not want to be there. After we waited over an hour to be seen in the room (I went out of the room they placed us in twice to ask a nurse when we would be seen, I thought they forgot about us), she came in and did an exam on my son for MAYBE 60 seconds then told me nothing was wrong and to just have him sleep it off. We went in again for his 9-month checkup and he had a cold (he was coughing in her face with snot dripping down his face) and she did not bring it up at all. I was the one at the end of the visit who asked for cold medicine. And she was so rude and degrading and judgmental when I told her we did not vaccinate our son. I understand if you don't agree with my parenting style, but I love my son very much, do not judge me. Again the exam was the shortest part of the visit. This place is awful, do not take your kids here. They do not care about us, they care about getting as many people in and out as possible. They know we are in a bubble here with the military and not many options to go to and they take advantage of having a monopoly. Sad. read more
