I called this company due to the good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, those people must all be friends or relatives of the people who own the company. When I called the business phone number, I got a girl who answered "hello". No announcement of a business name or anything and you could tell she was on a cell phone out "running around" (not very professional). I wanted to get some curbing done and we agreed on a time for a Saturday at 3PM which she said was perfect since that's the day they did their curbing work. I was to decide on a curbing style and color and then call her back later in the day. When I called back she was unable to deliver the first 2 colors I asked for. We eventually agreed on my 3rd choice and then I could hear her talking to a guy while I was on the phone with her. She came back on the phone and wanted to change the time of the appointment. Since I had already scheduled other vendors to come to my rental I was unwilling. She then put the installer on the phone who again wanted to negotiate the time and move it to earlier in the day, citing it would be hot (duh this is AZ) and their would be a large gap between his last appointment and then mine. I explained my situation and said 3PM or nothing, and he said he couldn't do it. I said fine i would find someone else. He called me back shortly and said that his brother did the same type of work and that he could do the job and would deliver on the initial color I had asked for. I thought okay now we're headed in the right direction. When I went to my rental the following day to meet with the installers no one showed up and no one called. This is not a professional or well run company so I would stay away if you are looking for any work to be done by them. read more

While their initial work was performed on schedule, and looked good enough at the time of completion to pay the invoice, their follow up to address warranty issues was pathetic. I had several large areas of dead grass as a direct result of their work that they failed to fix, and while removing a tree they dropped a large limb on a wrought iron fence that was never fixed. After numerous attempt to have things resolved they just stopped returning my attempt to contact them. I ended up paying another service to correct their errors and I'm still battling through the credit card company to cover my additional costs as well as the replacement of the potion of damaged fencing. read more

We hired this company to install about 210 lf of concrete curbing and over 3,000 ft of sod (winter grass with bermuda underneath) with a full irrigation system. We thought it would be great to use a family company, but it has turned about to be nothing but problematic. We had graciously allowed the company to delay their installation about two months because one of the family members had been injured on another project. When we were able to reschedule them, the initial installation seemed to go OK - workers were friendly and they worked quickly. The company charged us about $700 for "extras" that weren't on the original bid, and my wife paid the final invoice in full before we realized that they had increased the amount (we paid in installments and had not added them all up. Shame on us, but at that time we thought that we were working in good faith and thought we would easily get it resolved. Not the case. After staying off the new sod for a few weeks, we soon found that the company neglected to compact any of the backfill on their irrigation line trenches so when it rained, the dirt started to sag. Now our yard has a grid of ruts and holes that my kids keep tripping over. It's so bad that we can't play soccer or football with our children because we keep twisting ankles. From the outset, the irrigation system had several dry spots. They made adjustments after 1 week, but it was not adequate, and now it's taken several weeks for them to get back out and look at it. Now the sod in those spots is dying. The office is selectively responsive - communication started ok and they were attentive when they wanted payment, but not so much after we paid and when the call requires them to address and fix problems. They finally came out today to assess the issues, and their field guy (who is really a heck of a nice guy) admitted that the whole project was installed really poorly in the first place. He said the best way to fix it would be to scalp to the winter grass and cover the sod with 2 tons of fill dirt that he would then seed with bermuda - essentially starting over. Nevertheless, when he called the office, they don't want him fix everything the right way, and they insist that he try to fill just the worst areas with dirt. We've been very disappointed and are not happy. I would not recommend them at all. Poor service, poor work, and they don't stand behind it. read more

In life you make a lot of mistakes... you take gambles on individuals to do a job correctly. A lot of times these companies do not live up to their expectations they just want a pay check. Katrina and crew are the exceptions. Katrina and her husband are honest people who really do care about their work and untimely making you happy. I am happy we have a useful tool like yelp to apply people like them. If you do not call these people to work on your landscaping needs, then you are making a mistake. They are amazing. We hadn't done anything in our back yard for almost two years. We hate yard work. The patio is attached to our back door but we could no longer reach our patio grill safely. There were multiple weeds that were over 6 feet tall. There was a dense undergrowth of 2 feet on average. It was overwhelming just to look at it. They came over to do an estimate, had it emailed to me the next day and were scheduled by the day after that. They charged half of the price of a previous yard clean up, and did a better job more quickly. And I had liked the last company's results, they had just been busy. I know this review is a little long, but I would like to give you all the information. When I first started with Ontiveros Curb & Landscape, Katrina was very nice and we came to an agreement of what would be done and for what price. For a while, the work seemed to be good. I had told Katrina, when she was out to give me a quote for my business, and I told the crew, a few different times, that they need to keep the hedge trimmed between the view fence and the hedge, otherwise it grows through the fence where this is also a chicken wire fence running along the bottom to keep the critters out. My hedge is between 75' to 100' long and backs up to a preserve area. Needless to say they did not keep it trimmed between the fence and the hedge, and I told the office that this had not been done and they then sent a crew out. They had to remove the chicken wire as the hedge had grown through it and they could not save it. Katrina asked me about this and I said that if she removed the old that I would install the new one if she got the fencing for me. It took about 2 weeks for her to get the fencing to me. I thought that this was great, that they would do this work and that they took the responsibility and completed the work they were hired to do, that is until I received the invoice with a $250.00 charge for that work! I called, explained it was their responsibility as I had told them about it, and I was told that it would be adjusted off. This was not done for over a year and a half, with me calling every so often and asking. When they finally said they would credit my account, it was for $200.00 and they said that they had to buy new chicken wire that I was to pay for. Was it my fault they let the hedge grow out through the old chicken wire? I even did the installation and did not complain about it! They should have done it as this would have never had to be done had they done the job properly the first time. I paid the money as I wanted this done with. Then I had a problem with my sprinklers. I came home after work to find out one side of my back sprinklers had not turned off and my yard was completely flooded. I called Ontiveros Curb & Landscape and the message said to text them, which I did. I told them what happened and I would like the valves replaced, as I knew I had these valves for over 10 years. I told them I had turned the water off to the whole system and to please call me to let me know if they want to do this work or not. It took them over 3 days to get back to me and they texted me, not called, and said they are sending one of their guys out. No apology, nothing. The system did seem to work, but within 2 weeks I came home to the same thing, my yard was flooded. I then checked the valves and saw they were not replaced. I texted them. It again took about 3 to 4 days to get them to respond. Their guy came out and told me he fixed it, but again did not replace the valves. About 2 to 3 weeks later, came home to the same thing. I was stern in my text and after many attempts, and within 4 days they said they were sending someone out. No apology, nothing. After they finally replaced the valves, I asked how much and was told $160.00! What about my highly inflated water bill? They did not care. Then on 9/10 they did not show up. I had to contact them and no apology, nothing. I asked them if there was a problem with the schedule and if we need to change it. I also told them the hedge needed attention. No response. Then on Monday, 8/29, the crew was here and they did not work on the back of the hedge. I also received a text from my neighbor that he had to be stern with the crew as they were blowing the debris on my front yard into his and were not cleaning it up. I apologized to him and let him know I would contact the owner. He then told me that this happened twice before with his wife being the one at home, and she had to get after them to clean it up. That Monday afternoon when I got home and saw the hedge, I sent an email to both their email accounts telling them what happened and including pictures of the hedge. The reply email from both accounts said they would be back in touch within 42 hours. The following Tuesday, 8 days later, I had not heard from them at all. I sent them and email to both accounts and a text to both numbers that stated since they were apparently unconcerned with how their crew acted and did not care about customer satisfaction, that I was terminating our business relationship effective immediately. Now the funny part. I received a call from Lea on Wednesday, which I could not answer at the time, and she left a message that they were restructuring and were not doing as much maintenance as they used to, and that my area was not going to be serviced anymore. They were discontinuing my service. Do they not read their texts or emails? I think they are trying to cover in case I post a bad review they can say I was a disgruntled customer since they had to cancel my service. It is unbelievable. read more

I was referred by my parents to this company who had work done a couple of years ago now. Katrina the owner came out and did a quote in 2015. The request that the work order be complete before memorial day weekend which was 05/25/2015. The request was that the work be complete prior to that weekend because the weekend of 05/25/2015 was to be used for us to install our own sprinkler system. The work was not complete prior to that weekend and was not even started until months later. The work was not complete and I received a bill threatening to take us to small claims court. I corresponded with Katrina directly that the work was not done. She apologized, asked what had not been done (clearly she had not checked their work), and stated that my bill was put in the "small claims" pile in error and her men would come out to finish the work. Mid November her men were at my house pushing around dirt w/ no effort when I returned from work and no additional work had been done. They left and have yet to return. Approximately 3 weeks ago I received another letter stating we were being taken to small claims court. I then emailed and called again and left a message that I would pay half the bill, however, since we are going on almost a YEAR of not having an $800 project (very small in comparison to most projects) complete and two threats to send us to small claims court I would not be paying the full amount. A cashier's check was issued in the amount of $400. Today my husband received a call asking if we had taken pictures of the work that was not complete. AGAIN clearly the owner, Katrina, cannot trouble herself with monitoring her employee's work before or after threatening small claims court. We have since taken it upon ourselves to have friends and family assist with the yard work and tasks that were not completed from almost a YEAR AGO. I am completely disgusted with this company's lack of organization and ethics. DO NOT use this company. They may have been good at one point but clearly by the recent reviews that is no longer the case. read more
