I hired Eduardo Garnica (E&JJS Concrete Construction) for a backyard project that included concrete, turf, and pavers. We agreed on a total price of $8,750. I paid $1,000 in cash as a deposit and an additional $2,375 via Venmo for materials at his request. After payment was made, the project was delayed multiple times. Only minimal framing work was completed, and the concrete pour that was scheduled never happened. Communication then stopped completely. I made multiple attempts to contact him by phone and text and received no response. I also requested a refund, which was not returned. As of now, I am out $3,375 with no completed work. I have been using this yard service for about three years. Last year I asked them to service my watering system. They told me the main panel had to be replaced, which they did. Since then I have had problems with a few of the stations not working. I noticed about three months ago that my grapefruit tree was drying up, then my two years old lemon tree. I have tried to bring them back with manual watering, but the damage is severe. During this time I have placed numerous calls and texts to them. They did not show up for service at all this month and have ghosted me, leaving me with a broken watering system and hundreds of dollars worth of dead trees. We requested a quote to trim our palm tree and they didn't show up, then a second time we had scheduled a time for them to quote our tree trimming they had only sent us a price. I'm not entirely sure if they made it to our house the second time because they only gave us a price and we had yet to meet with them. We hadn't met with them at all yet to point out which tree and what specifically we wanted done. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled a time for them to complete the service. Then the morning of the service, I received a message saying they're going to double the cost without having met me in person yet and they were already late to the originally scheduled time. I'm assuming they saw the tree from the street, but wouldn't they have seen the same tree from the street when they sent us the price for the second quote? I worked remotely with this company for one of my rental properties and never had an issue with communications. They communicated throughout the project, from quote to actual work done. Came out and did the initial clean-up of the yard, but never returned for subsequent appointments for ongoing maintenance. When asked about it, I was told they would come out after the day they were supposed to show but didn't, but they never showed again. Very impressed! I reached out to Garnicas Landscaping to clean up our back yard / patio as we just moved in and it quickly got out of hand. He was very quick with responding and we set up an estimate that unfortunately got canceled due to our lovely monsoon season. He rescheduled for the next day and showed up right on time which I know from experience is a very hard quality to find in most landscaping company's. Garnicas Landscaping showed up at 7am and was finished by 7.30. Not only was it quick but very professional. They did not cut any corners and truly showed there expertise! My property is very weird with no side gate or access to the patio with out coming through the house. They were very careful not to make a mess bringing everything through the house and not to ding the doors with there equipment. Overall I am extremely impressed, Garnicas Landscaping is a professional, punctual, fair priced, team of experts that I have faith would do an amazing job on even the biggest jungle!! They showed up timely for our scheduled free quote and seemed friendly and reasonably priced. However, on the day we agreed to have the work done, they never showed. We scheduled 8:00 am. When they hadn't showed or called/texted to let us know they would be late or needed to reschedule, I texted them around 8:30 am to check and they said they would be there at 11:00 am. They never even acknowledged the fact that we agreed on 8:00 am. By 12:30 pm I texted them again asking where they were. I was not happy. I told them that I didn't want to do business anymore. They NEVER responded or apologized. Terrible. I understand that other jobs and factors can delay an appointment, but there was no communication or apologies. Complete waste of time.
