Ontrack recently moved us from an apartment to our first home. Our move was on only one week's notice, and my husband and I were both slammed with work and other obligations during that one week, so we knew we'd need help with the packing as well as the move. We compared Ontrack to others and found that Ontrack's standard hourly rate for a three-man crew was comparable to a highly rated competitors' "all-in" rate for packing + moving--the difference was that the competitor included boxes and materials in the rate, but Ontrack charged for those per item used. Despite knowing Ontrack would be slightly more expensive, we were swayed by the glowing all-4-and-5 star reviews for Ontrack, whereas the other company had some real lemons buried in the mix, and we didn't want to risk it. On moving day, the crew of Mario, Sam, and Carlos made it clear why Ontrack has such a strong and consistent reputation. They were prompt, professional, friendly, efficient, careful, organized, and FAST. Big pieces that we'd struggled with in previous moves magically disappeared from our old home and into the new without any fuss. All of our kitchen items were packed up and organized by "essentials" vs "storage", since we're preparing for a kitchen renovation. They disassembled and reassembled the bed easily and with no damage. All of this meant that we were out of the old place and set up in the new by 2 pm after an 8:30 am start, and my husband and I had the essentials unpacked and were relaxing by dinner time. Highly recommend. My girlfriend and I just moved houses together, and ontrack made the transition totally seamless. Our workers, Aitu and Fillippe worked their asses off! The sales manager, Dylan, went above and beyond to make sure that our new building had the required COI docs on file (certificate of insurance). Overall, I'd strongly recommend. My advice if you do plan to use any moving service, is to use Zippgo moving boxes so the movers can just load the truck and go. These guys rock. We used OnTrack again while moving out of SF. Great communication with both the sales team (Dylan) and day-of moving team. Ontrack was quick to reply to my quite request through Yelp, and they ended up ordering use the best rate. Even after I took a day to respond and their rates had gone up, they still honored the rate they originally quoted. The two movers, Nahum and Bruno, arrived a few minutes early even through Friday morning traffic. They were very friendly and got to work right away. The move ended up taking longer than we expected, but that was more due to our naivete (we probably should have hired a three person crew). They were giving constant effort for 9 straight hours (they must have eaten but I didn't see when). In the end all our stuff made it intact with no collateral damage! I did two moves with Ontrack in the past few weeks. The first was flawless until one of my items was left on the truck. I had to followup with multiple people to get a replacement after it was found to have been thrown away by mistake on their side even after I alerted them that the item was on the truck still and they confirmed they had it. However, the team showed up on time, was professional, courteous, and did a phenomenal job. The second move was executed flawlessly and I'd recommend their services to anyone looking to move in the Bay Area. Just make sure that if something goes awry during the move to call the main corporate number to alert them of it as soon as possible so they can work with you to rectify. I'm still giving 5 stars despite the back and forth to get the item from my original move replaced since the team did follow through on their word and I understand these things can happen. read more

They work very hard. I wasn't nearly ready to go, and that slowed things down. But it would have helped if the guys had actually listened to my directions and taken only the items I wanted from certain rooms, instead of whatever they thought I should want. I was moving out of a four bedroom home and my things were in the hall, living room, bedroom, and about four specific things were in another bedroom. They took about ten things from that room AFTER I pointed at the four things I wanted, 2 bookshelves and 2 plastic boxes in the middle of the room. They put my brother's albums on the truck, took a broken laundry basket, and an empty binder that was in the wastebasket. They left the wastebasket; I could have actually used that.... Once we reached my new place, I tried to give directions, but they were largely ignored. A lot of my belongings were books, and I asked them to put fiction in the bedroom and non-fiction in the entryway. Much of the fiction made to the bedroom, but a lot of other stuff got mixed in. It would have been good to get furniture in, then group boxes on and around it, but the furniture largely came last. The last thing done was building my captain's bed, too close to the wall to allow me to plug in an extension cord for a clock and a light. Fortunately, I was able to recruit a new neighbor to help me pull it back another 1/2 inch or so. I accept that was woefully underprepared for the move, so the amount of time it took is mostly my fault. But I am missing a folding table, it took me two days to find my bathroom box (which should have been guess where?) and have some stuff I have to take back now. All that said, they were unfailingly polite and cheerful, despite my lack of preparation and getting sick halfway through th day. And they had to deal with Nob Hill traffic and parking without a permit (please, get a permit; it's essential on busy streets). I'd just say listen and retain more. We really don't want to take everything. read more

All my stuff got loaded and unloaded without incident and they were very conscientious about where I wanted things, if they got everything, and if I wanted them to move stuff around. I would be a bit careful about how they add up the hours at the end. The guy who did my final hours quote ended up adding in time and I had to go back and forth with him a couple times on the math. Only if I could give Arthur Rico and Felippe 6 stars. They went above and beyond to pack all the boxes and furniture in a pod that I used for a cross country move. Arthur use to pack commercial trailers so they both nailed it in terms of tightly packing the boxes and furniture such that the stuff doesnt move much in the pod. Work of art! In addition, they helped me load up my motorcycle in their truck and drop off at a semi that was taking my bike across the country. Went back and forth via yelp messaging and then radio silence after I asked to lock in a date 6 weeks out. Called a few weeks later and they were happy to do it at a higher price. Maybe it was a Yelp messaging issue, but still pretty lame. UPDATE - owner contacted me soon after posting this. They claimed they replied but it didn't make it through the yelp messaging system. I guess this is why other movers I have contacted since ask for details right away to communicate outside of yelp system. read more

Here to give another rave review for Ontrack and specifically for my movers, Nahum and Julian. First, the intake / scheduling process was super easy - I requested a quote through Yelp and got a fast response from Luke, who answered all my questions and even hopped on the phone with me to discuss details. I had questions about a large item and was able to send him photos to get his feedback on whether two movers would be able to handle it. On moving day, Nahum and Julian arrived on time and got right to work - Julian actually started loading things on his own while Nahum and I went through the paper work together. They were both professional, efficient, and careful with my things and knew how to use all the tools and equipment at their disposal (packing materials, dolly, lift) to make everything seamless. I had one especially expensive / fragile item (a heavy electric keyboard) and they knew just how to package and transport it safely. We finished the move within the 3 hour minimum timeframe and the whole thing cost way less than I was anticipating. Had an amazing experience with these guys. My movers were Tony and Javier and it was a painless and surprisingly quick and efficient process, despite the lack of an elevator at our new apartment. They called us exactly 30 minutes before arriving (as promised) and were right on time (actually a few minutes early!). They were very professional and the move took much less time than I expected. The price is quite fair and there's no hidden fees or fine print, they tell you everything in detail when you call to get a quote. These folks were amazing. They showed up when they said they would and worked quickly and tirelessly to get everything loaded onto the truck. They completed the loading process EARLIER than they had estimated. Who does that? They were equally good with unloading. They didn't just drop the boxes in the foyer and move on -- every box was marked with a location indicator, and the followed that to the tee. They set up furniture, arranged it the way I liked and generally made sure the place was neat and organized before they left. I was particularly impressed when the lead mover took me aside and pointed out an item that had broken in transit. The break was not their fault -- it was an outdoor fire pit that had rusted through. These movers cared about the quality of their work, and it showed. One thing I would do differently next time is to ask them to send me their waiver and insurance forms before the day of the move. I'm a lawyer, so I like to read these things, and when the movers are on the clock I feel rushed. I should have thought to ask, but frankly things are so hectic in the move that I forgot. It would be good for Ontrack to email those documents early as a matter of course (although I admit most people likely won't read them). If for no other reason, you should evaluate whether their standard insurance is enough to cover your stuff. If not, you can buy supplemental insurance from them (or others). I also didn't like the fact that we were charged for packing materials. I could possibly understand being charged for tape -- I guess that is a one-use item -- but not for the padding used to protect the furniture. They can use those over again, so why charge me? In any case having to pay for those items separately made me feel at times that I was being nickle and dimed. It may be typical of the industry, but I hope they change that practice. Overall, I had a great experience with Ontrack Moving and would definitely use them again. BTW - You get a 3% discount if you pay in cash. While I generally like to pay with a credit card in case the merchant fails to live up to her end of the bargain, in this instant I decided to save a few bucks by paying cash. I definitely made sure to check for any damage before I paid anything though. I had no problems. read more

They talked with me and sent the right number of people for the job. They confirmed everything a few days beforehand, and then called 30 minutes before arrival. They managed to pack everything into a truck for a national move and probably saved us money by making sure everything was tightly packed (we were paying by the foot in the truck). I've used this company serval times and am very happy with the service each time. The movers are always on time, friendly and professional. My team this move consisted of Alejandro and Carlos. They were punctual, fast and updated me throughout the process, which thanks to them was extremely smooth. Moving can be a stressful situation but they make it stress free. They are upfront about fees and pricing. On that note, because I had not yet updated my address and such on my cards, when it come time to pay, my card was initially declined- super embarrassing! I had to call the bank and go through the whole process of customer service while the movers waited patiently- again, so embarrassing.
