OMG! The Labor & Delivery & Recovery Dept feels dangerous! The nurses along with the protocols are not up to standards. They gave a first time breastfeeding mom and pacifier, some of the nurses seem checked out, burnt out and not willing to go out of their way to help! They also gave formula to that mom "just in case".. Studies show how important skin to skin is for the baby & mom but the nurses never initiated it with the first time mom nor did they follow up or encourage the mom or dad to do skin to skin with their underweight infant! It's so much that was so very wrong... I pray that a mom who really is not well or is a first time mom will never have to experience that very scary and unsafe hospital. By the way they charged $7.00 to provide a meal to the dad of that first time mother.. Just so sad! read more

Took my wife to the Yuma Regional Outpatient Clinic in the Yuma Foothills on 1/2/20. Was there 20 minutes with no testing and left with a prescription. Just got the bill and I'm in shock! The office call was $115 and then the hospital billed another $205. Even after Insurance payed, it still cost us around $100. What a SCAM! read more

They can't tell us why when she only came in with back pain..they only called our family hours after they realized she was going to pass..giving attitude about us living in San Diego and having a drive. Well I have to say.. the reviews you see about this hospital are 100% true. I was visiting family in Yuma when my toddler son began having asthmatic symptoms. I brought him to the ER right away and by the time we arrived he was having difficulty breathing to the point where I had to give him puffs of his rescue inhaler. We checked in with the receptionist and a nurse took us back a few minutes later to get vital signs on my son. The nurse gave him nothing for his breathing problems and sent us back to the waiting room of the ER. Fast forward 2 hours and several pleas for a doctor to see my son sooner, we were finally taken by a nurse to an exam room. At this point I had already been forced to give him more puffs from his rescue inhaler which was no longer being effective. My son we struggling to breath and could hardly speak words due to lack of oxygen. The nurse sat us down in the exam room and told us the doctor would see us shortly. The doctor came in the room about 30 minutes later and told me my son would receive albuterol right away to prevent him struggling for air. Another 30 minutes passed before the nurse returned and gave my son a different medication (not the albuterol) She then said that a separate nurse had to come administer the albuterol and she would ask them IF THEY HAD TIME. The nurse exited the room and another 30 minutes passed. My son had passed out from exhaustion at this point and I watched him carefully as he still struggled to breath. The same nurse returned about 20 minutes later with a co-worker who walked her through how to assemble the nebulizer machine. Finally, about 3 1/2 hours after walking into the ER, my son was finally able to breathe normally again. My son was still asleep in my arms but I could feel his breathing return to normal, and I almost cried in relief. As if all of these facts aren't appalling enough, when I first entered the ER, there was no one in the waiting room except for a gentleman who I overheard complaining of pain to his ankle. I checked in with my son immediately after him but they still took the gentleman back to see the doctor before my son. The staff at YRMC is the most incompetent I've ever seen. I've taken my son to an ER near our home in Los Angeles for the same exact same symptoms, and we never even had the chance to sit down in the waiting room because a doctor called us back immediately. Unfortunately things will never change at YRMC because it's the only hospital in Yuma and they have no competition. It will never change unless you demand change. read more

Their ER is ok, but go to any clinic or doctor associated with the hospital and you will be billed exorbitantly from the hospital! I found this out the hard way! I went to a dr on the hospital campus and he gave me a steroid shot and the hospital charged me for an operating room! I ended up with a bill for over $600! Make sure the doctor you are going to see is not billed by the hospital. They figured out a way to legally cheat the patient. Crooked hospital!! read more

Daily Grind Cafe The little coffee place inside the Yuma Regional Medical Center is nasty. I have never asked for my $$ back for a cup of coffee. That nasty cold coffee was not worth $1.75. When I asked for my money back he argued with me about the temperature of the coffee. Really?? What happened to just give me my $$ and smile. Nope, these days, customer service means nothing. I told him that I already noticed every person in this hospital with a coffee cup got it from Circle K. Do not get coffee at the hospital. Stop on the corner first. read more

My wife was brought in by ambulance from YPG for a duty-related back injury at 1530 hours on 9Aug2021. At the time of her arrival, the ER was sparsely populated. She was brought directly into the general ER waiting room in a wheelchair and the EMT had already given her morphine during the ride from YPG due to extreme pain. It is now 2200 hours on the 9th and my wife still has not yet even been checked into a room or offered more pain reliever. Repeated attempts to expedite her check-in have failed. The ER is now obviously very busy and she is still in extreme pain and very uncomfortable. There is no excuse for this extraordinary delay in a patient being checked in, especially being brought in by ambulance, much less the delay in all the other patients (some with very young children) who also have waited way too long for care. YRMC says, and writes, their priority is their patients but YRMC clearly does NOT care for their patients as evidenced by longer than normal ER wait times and absolutely no patient assistance, care, or comfort in the ER. If a minus, negative start rating could be used, YRMC ER would receive, and deserve, a negative 10 stars for their lack of effective and efficient ER patient assistance and service! In addition, there is no social distancing, sanitation, disinfecting, or general concern for any COVID protocols other than a security guard taking temperatures when visitors walk in...oh, and limiting visitors to one per person so the others have to wait outside in 110 degree temps. Do better! Fix it! And expect more terrible review ratings like this one. read more

I am a nurse and know how the medical facilities should work. I was seen by doctor in this PRIMARY CARE OR WALK IN CLINIC OWNED BY YRMC in FOOTHILLS. I actually later realized that it was part of Yuma regional medical center. I was perhaps seen for five minutes the tops but I got A surprise bill. This is a huge bill which I don't think I deserve as the level of care was substandard and minimal. This facility lacks experienced doctors and providers and call pimple skin cancer. Absolutely the worse service ive ever experienced!! My daughter was very ill, vomiting blood, abdominal pain level of an 8 and the sat us in the waiting from from close to 5 hours, in the meantime, she still vomiting blood & severe abdominal pain! All the took was a UA & a basic CBC/CMP and back to the wating room. I know it gets busy but c'mon...they treated her like she came in for toe pain !! Been here since 945-1000pm. ER staff is friendly and courteous. Got my friend back in a hurry to do vitals, X-rays, and lab work then nothing else was speedy at all. We have been waiting since about 12pm(midnight) for X-ray, lab results, and ekg results with absolutely no hustle from anyone here. It is now 530am. The waiting room is completely empty minus one child with her mom and an older couple waiting for a friend. This has to be the worst medical care I have ever seen. read more

This is the least compassionate hospital experience I've ever had in sixty years outside of some genuine horrors I've endured in the military. I presented to YRMC last night around midnight with some serious personal complications from abdominal surgery in Casa Grande last week. Despite being in serious danger of damaging multiple incisions as a result I was given a couple over the counter items, directed to purchase others and sent home with a strong lecture for putting myself in the position in the first place. The med tech couldn't find a vein. Despite telling her where a hundred other techs had gone without a problem she deliberately chose a different location then blamed me for 'moving' when she was unable to take a sample. Of course going to the original location worked perfectly the first try. The doctor had zero, and I mean zero, bedside manner. He projected an attitude of contempt and 'what do you want me to do about it?' He questioned the surgeon's competence and demonstrated obvious skepticism that I was legitimately taking medication as an adult for a condition commonly believed to affect only children. No one showed any concern at all for my condition and the lack of post operative information which led to it. There was nothing in last night's experience which would lead me to seek out YRMC absent a life threatening emergency...and maybe even then. read more

Beware!!!!! Several bad experiences at this hospital. The last 2 scared me. A few months ago my brother had bad stomach pain. I took him to the ER, the whole lobby was packed and people were waiting outside. I went inside to check him in and was meet with a very rude young lady and responded " take a number". I walked outside to help him stand, after about a 1/2 hour I walked back inside to inquire how long the wait would be. She barked at me " 6 to 8 hours". I walked outside and put my brother inside my vehicle and drove to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.Went straight into a ER room, and seen a Dr. in 15 minutes.They had blood work and CT scans done with in 2 hours. They performed emergency surgery a few hours later. They said my brother was lucky to survive. I feel if I would stayed at Yuma Regional the outcome would have be bad. As other posts say, Go to Phoenix or San Diego. I would not give this place any stars. But they seem to be making a lot of money with all the re modeling, parking garages, Ect. Maybe they should spend their money on competent Drs. , nurses, and support staff. Just my opinion. read more

Terrible emergency room. I have been there on 2 separate occasions. Once was when my son who was 4 at the time, broke his arm. He sat in the back over 5 hours, no pain meds administered until his discharge. The second time was for myself, 2 hours in I got blood work taken, then 2 hours after, A CT scan and xrays. I waited over 6 hours to be seen by a doctor and eventually left at my own will because one never came. I pray I never have to go back because it was the worst experience I've ever had in an e.r. I've tried on a couple of occasions to speak and file a formal complaint but so far only gotten in touch with the family advocate, Robert. I feel terrible for the residents who have no choice but to use this facility. read more

Horrible experience at this hospital. I entered the hospital ER in severe pain suffering from opioid withdrawal symptoms and was denied any meaningful treatment for my advanced arthritis and osteoarthritis conditions. After explaining how I had ran out of pain medications and didn't have an appointment with a pain specialist for another two weeks, I was told by a doctor that the hospital is not a facility to treat pain, offered a single ineffective pain pill and ushered out the door. Well ER & Urgent Care facilities and staff are inadequate. Had the opportunity to visit the Women's and children's section to have our daughter delivered. Wow talking about a cattle call set up. We were treated as a number more than an expectant family. Waiting hours for a delivery room then hours for a post partum room. The only reason I gave the second star is because we actually had two friendly nurses out of 6 encountered. The place is full of unfriendly and uncaring staff. read more

My girlfriend and I waited 6 hours when she had severe stomach cramps to have the nurses do nothing but give her some morphine and one bag of I've fluid before sending her home still in pain and done no tests. I wish I could put -1,099 stars, it still wouldn't be enough. I went into the hospital with a kidney stone. I got a procedure that was never explained to me! I was stupid and went forward with it. Please, please, go to San Diego or Phoenix. I think they alkegedly keep you so long to collect your Medicare knowing it's a sure thing! I couldn't get answers as to why I wasn't being discharged. Also, I was straining and collecting my own kidney stone sediments from my urine, because my hat in the toilet was so full, I couldn't pee. This is right after surgery, for a total of four times. Then the presiding's last name was Johnson. Avoid her at any cost! She's not even a doctor who I feel should not be placed as a providing. don't get me wrong, there are a lot of fantastic PNcp's here in Yuma. She just doesnt to be one of them. She will smile at you while she's allegedly lying to your face with a smile. tomorrow, I'm going to the director as what I was having all these problems and RN, which was not even assigned to me, decided to run his mouth and laugh at me. That's right, he laughed. I will be calling the director of the hospital's about all these people on Tower 4. I'm sure they've already painted me as a crazy lady. Plus they never got my insulin right and I even told them and they still didn't change it. They were giving me non-diabetic trays full of sugar. What I had oatmeal with brown sugar and butter. Does that sound like something for a diabetic? I even told them that also. The funniest part to me is that all my diagnosis are in my chart and on my MyCare that they have access to. I'm to get 45 units of insulin at night, they gave me 20. I get 10 in the morning, they gave me 20. I never got an explanation given when I asked as I never got an explanation as to the procedure I was getting. Now I'm stuck with a stint up my urethra and I have no idea why. No explanation to what I could understand. It was a big rig of a roll. I beg you please do not go to this Hospital. I was there a whole month last year and I almost died. I had a heart attack while I was there because the medication they were giving me. Please drive to San Diego and/or Phoenix. Tomorrow I'm telling Medicare that I think there's fraud going on there. I'm also going to tell them about the care I received to see if I can't get this cost dismissed. I did most the work myself. I mean, look at all these reviews they're all true. This is a true story I need to share with community. My husband and I who has been happily married for forty years and being winter visitors. We come to Yuma every year. The mistake we made this time was when my husband start to have dizzy spells and I took him to Yuma regional urgent care. He was causally seen by one of doctors their. He said "he is just anxious". I was little nervous as he is never been an anxious person as I know him of. I was advised to go home and keep his legs on the couch. His blood pressure was very low Fool of me and him, we went home. His condition kept getting worse and he deteriorated fast. I called Yuma regional hot line and I was advised that nothing need to be worried just follow the doctors instructions which he saw in our urgent care in foothills. In few hours my husband collapsed on floor. I called my son. He told me to rush him immediately to phoenix. My good neighbors helped us and they drove us old folks to phoenix to hospital their. He was diagnosed with blood clot in his lung. They immediately took him to the surgery and removed blood clot. He survived this Urgent care mistake. My son told me that my quick response to move him to Phoenix in another hospital saved his life. It was a close call. I don't know why Yuma regional hospital hire poorly trained doctors who are playing with our lives. This is my personal experience. I want to reach out to our community to let them know what happened to us. I am still shaky from inside. read more

My husband was a patient in the Hospital from February 27th to March 3rd, 2019. He was admitted at 3:15 pm from emergency having had a short "TIA". When I explained the situation to the nurse in Emergency, she rushed him onto a stretcher in the emergency department. He was immediately seen by a nurse and a doctor. Test were done on him ASAP. I stayed with him until 9pm. His tests were continued and he was admitted to the "Stroke Pod". When I went in the next morning he had seen the Neurologist, and the Cardiologist came in while I was there. I am a retired Registered Nurse, and was treated with the utmost respect as was my husband. By March 1st they had diagnosed him with a 95% blockage in his RT. Carotid Artery. The Vascular Surgeon was immediately contacted and was there to see him within the hour. He has his surgery March 2nd, and it was a success. He stayed in ICU over night and was released on March 3rd. He got the best care that I could have ever imagined by the nurses in Emergency, on the floor, and in Pre and Post-op. Nothing was done without an explanation. We were both spoken to each time a result came in. He always knew who his nurses were and which Doctors were in charge as they have a board on the wall at the end of his bed with everything written down . Each shift they introduced themselves. His room was kept immaculately clean by the wonderful cleaning staff. He thoroughly enjoyed the food and was impressed that he was give a choice of which food on the menu he wanted. It was brought to him promptly by a smiling young lady. The dietician also explained his diet to him. He was brought to and from his procedures by caring friendly porters, who always kept him smiling. The Technicians who preformed the procedures were kind and explained what they were doing and why. Post-op he was seen by Physio and Occupational therapists, who helped him and kept him smiling. Everyone that we encountered were Professional as well as Personable, which is rare to find. I have to say that there was nothing negative about his stay. We were highly impressed with everything and would like all concerned to know. Yuma is a very lucky city to have such a wonderful hospital, staffed with Nurses, Doctors, Technicians, Cleaning staff, Porters, etc. We have been praising all of you to everyone we speak to. People say all of the time that you can't get good doctor care in Yuma and you have to goto Phoenix. That's not true at all! This is a good hospital and they do a great job. The food could be better but it's not a restaurant and I know that. I recommend you try this hospital before you drive all the way to Phoenix. read more

Took my wife in to the ER with some serious signs of illness such as vomiting, fever, chills, pain, etc. we were initially told the wait would be two to four hours. The waiting room was very crowded and it was obvious that they were busy. After a few minutes we were called to triage, then sent for several tests. We were moved to an ER treatment room and waited a short while for more tests, IV, etc. the doctor arrived and spoke with us and ordered CT scan and XRays. Later he returned with her diagnosis. He was, it turned out, absolutely correct. We moved to tower 4 and began treatment. After 5 days of constant treatment by Dr. Oba and a fleet of very good nurses, we were discharged with instructions and prescriptions. The illness was VERY severe. Had it not been diagnosed and treated properly the outcome would have been very dire. A sincere thank you to everyone involved. read more

I have been at YRMC many times for my self and members of my family. I am knowledgeable of what "triage" means. It means that the sickest person and the one closest to lose their life on the opinion of a MEDICAL PROVIDER enters and is cared for first. There is no "i was here first" there is Triage. When there is an emergency, all non critical at that time are made wait a bit. The quality of care is excellent. The doctors are experienced. I have great respect for any professional who choose saving lives as their daily job. This ER has saved many, many lives. read more

We visit every year and I have been to this walk-in clinic 3 times, most recently a couple of weeks ago. This is the WORST and I'm an RN who knows how it should work. They advertise "walk-ins welcome but don't have the staff to accommodate them. People sit in the waiting room for hours coughing and spreading whatever. On my second visit, I saw a sweet female PA or ARNP named Jennifer who was very good, but when I went back the next week to say the abo I was on was making me very short of breath - OMG - Two hours just to get in back where I waited again behind a curtain listening to the staff joke and laugh and blah blah blah. The black male PA was flirting with a nurse, discussing whether or not she should put her car in an upcoming car show or not and on and on....and on! Guess what all you people sitting around the desk - WE in the cubbys behind the curtains CAN HEAR YOU in spite of the stupid out-of-sync "ocean wave" tapes in each one. When the nurse came in for vitals I commented that they were very loud, she agreed and looked disgusted. When the PA finally came in, all he said was to stop the antibiotic I was on and "see." I'd already done that! I asked if I shouldn't start something else because I'd only been on it for 3 days...again ""wait and see." I ended up going over to the Foothills Clinic on Fortuna where I saw John Smock and got another prescription and also sent my husband the next week where he got excellent care. Don't waste your time at the Foothills YRMC walk-in clinic...go across the highway to the Foothills clinic instead. read more

My mother had server back pain around her kidney area and it took them a long time to find her a bed or any kind of place she could be put in. they put her in front of the er waiting area and laid her on the waiting room chairs she was laying in a pain I don't wish on any of my worst enemies. After all she had been through I went home to get some stuff for her to be more comfrontable and they distrage her by letting her go outside by herself while she was still dizzy from some heavy medicine. Of course few visits to the emergency room are going to be positive, and this one certainly could have been worse. What I am really giving 1 star to- and I would give less if I could - is the radiology dept at YRMC. Whether blatant or ignorant, it is so damaging and disrespectful to the patient and the doctors, the way they make them wait. After waiting 4 hours to get a CT scan, One scan result came back and we waited 3 hours more for the next 2. (That still didn't come in by the time we demanded the doc release us. Maybe they are understaffed, maybe they are under skilled, maybe they simply don't care about patient care. Whatever the issue, this hospital needs to address it or it will always be a less than mediocre place for the people of Yuma to get healthcare. The staff in the ER had been kind and helpful, although not done anything really expedite any level of care, despite frequent requests for elevation of service. I would hate to be the patient that didn't advocate for themselves or have an advocate. Doubt it will change anything - because your treatment options here are limited - but I hope someone at the hospital will care enough to take a look at their problem. read more

I had the misfortune to end up at Yuma Regional Medical Center on Nov. 17, 2017. The only reason they are getting a second star is because ER saved their butt and mine. After ER, things went downhill. As I was being wheeled to a room from ER, after getting an IV with lasix, you will need to relieve yourself soon, and I do mean soon, or right now. I told the driver of my gurney that I was not going to make it to the room and I needed to go NOW. Her response was "there are none here" as we were passing a bathroom. I was there until Monday, the 20th and in that time frame, tasted some seriously disgusting food. I was getting low sodium food, but I have been doing that for 3+ years, and that food could be eaten. I will say that I did have a couple of very nice nurses that really seemed to care and the others appeared to be there for a paycheck, (big difference). And you think I am done, wrong. My primary and my cardiologist are in Las Vegas, so I set up appointments with my primary and was not able to get with my cardiologist. I went to 399 W. 32nd to sign release papers to be faxed to my primary and my cardiologist, and for them to send an e-mail to me of the records. A few days later I still had not received my e-mail, so I called while still in Yuma and was assured everything was faxed and e-mailed. Well here it is Dec. 5, and I still have not received my e-mail of my records, and my Cardiologist did not receive the fax that was supposedly sent. Saw my primary on Dec. 4th and she did receive the fax with my records. Just got of the phone with my cardiologist and they can't set up a follow up appointment because they need to know what took place. Now, her office is trying to get it handled, good luck there. Was reading all the negative reviews, and now I understand, it's not just me. I carried on about this, but damn it, it's my life. I feel sorry for the people of Yuma. Well, been here unfortunately more than 3 times, one delivery ( had my baby) , 2 emergencys (sick) and 3 other times for lab work, and MRI etc... This last time got an endoscopy, came home with a very fat lip ( doctor bumped it) blood on my brah (have no idea how that got there and a very painful throat.... First off the anastiesia guy was rushing and gave me that crap all in one speedy hit! Then I was kicked off the bed to wait in a wheelchair ( they cleaned and set up bed for the next victim) for the doc to just tell me he took biopsy samples and to set an appt with my gastro doc , all in all i felt terrible!!!!! Ive had an endoscopy and and colonoscopy done in the same day in fort bragg NC and never suffered any pain or injury!!! To make it all worse i over heard a nurse talking bout how they were not sanitizing stuff and that was before i went in to get it done, I pray and i hope that i recover fast! But this hospital is the worst!!! All experiences have been bad!!! The times I have been here I have encountered good doctors, and terrible ones as well. When I took my daughter the first time we waited 7 hours for them to finally admit her into a room all while she ran a high fever. It took my dad to basically go up to them and tell them that if something happened to her he would make sure to have each and everyone of their badge. That is when the nurses took him serious and provided us with a room. Even then the doctor took his sweet time to see her, she had an ear infection. When I took her to her pediatrician for a follow up and told her doctor, she looked at me with disgust and said why they would let a young baby go that long without being seen. (My daughter was about 18 months). On one occasion when I took my daughter to the ER and it was fairly busy we were sent to the right side where they only have 4 beds...the doctor in that area was very converned for my daughter and took action right away. She had yet another ear infection and gave me tips on how to prevent them or at least try to. I especially loved how she did not try to rush the visit but instead took the time to look at my daughter thoroughly and answer any questions or concerns I had. This is why I am giving them 2 starts just because of that specific doctor, wish I knew her name! If more doctors and nurses where like her it would amazing. read more
