I have been coming here for about a year for cut and colors. Sao usually does my hair and I have had great results! She tells you when she thinks you are asking for something that will damage the hair and if it won't work with your skin tone and does so in a kind and professional way that isn't offensive. With that being said, we can move on to a better style that suits me and what is best for me. I will say, I'm no easy task either, black hair going red with blonde highlights and she makes me look damn good! And I have never called and not been able to get in on the spur of the moment either... Even though it is on base, you do not need an id to use the salon, a driver license will bring you on base. It is in the PX. The cost is far more friendly than the other Paul Mitchell salons, and way nicer too!! I wouldn't think of going anywhere else!!! read more

Good customer service with a hideous haircut. The picture shown was taken later at another salon when I asked them to fix it. The hair stylist at Paul Mitchell tried to do a "layered" haircut. Never again. Also, if you're wondering how did I leave the salon in the first place looking like this? I called and was able to get a same day appointment with Su. I was in need of a change, I showed a picture and for once, got the haircut in the picture. I was nice and relaxed thanks to a double wash in the shampoo bowl, that's honestly my favorite part. Close to 5 inches cut off and a nice relaxing experience, I'm a happy girl. My wife has had her hair cut here several times and she loves this place. She talked me into going and the first time I went I was very unhappy with my cut. The second time I went I was even more unhappy. The last time I went which was about a week ago I was shocked at how nice my hair turned out. The previous two cuts were just too short. Even though I told them how I wanted my sides they just grabbed the trimmers and went to town. This time, the woman cutting my hair repeated what I said and did just that. The only time she grabbed electric trimmer was to trim around my ears and the back of my neck. On top of it, the cut ran $20 with a wash included. The place I normally go is $18 with no wash. If I could get a consistent cut every time I went in, this would be higher than three stars. Hopefully the same woman is working next time I go in but I didn't even get her name so I can't even schedule an appointment with her. read more

I will have to agree with several other customers, this is a very unprofessional salon. If there was a way to rate this place with zero stars, I would do so. I went in for a change of hair color. Wanted to go from a brown to a violet. None of the hairstylists asked me about my hair pigmentation or if I had had any previous treatments on my hair (these are basic questions at any other salon). They didn't put me under the hair dryer more than 15 mins and I told my stylist that I didn't think that was enough but she insisted I was ready . Once I had my hair done I could see that the color wasn't as intense as I thought I would be but she told me that it would get better with every wash. Well what happened after every wash was that the poor color washed away completely and after three weeks it was gone completely . So I called the salon to let them know of this situation but no one wanted to deal with me. I had to drive there in person to show them my hair and they told me that it was normal that after three weeks the color was gone . In what serious salon is this normal? I'm not new to hair treatments and this was the first time a color didn't stay for at least six weeks if not more before fading slowly away. Well then the girl at the front desk told me they would contact the manager . I never heard from them. I drove back there again and another girl was at the front desk and she said no one knew of my case. And of course another week had passed and she played the card that it had been almost four weeks by know. Well yeah! I had been trying to contact them for almost two weeks! Then she told me that because I had brown hair before, that was the reason it washed off immediately . I have many friends who are hair stylists and I'm not a dumb. Well I finally asked for the manager's phone number and the receptionist didn't want to give it to me until I talked serious words. Finally called the manager. She didn't pick up. Left a voice message explaining the situation. She didn't call until next day. I missed her call because I was at work. Then I called her back and she decided to not pick up the phone anymore or respond to my texts. All I wanted was for them to fix my hair. I wasn't even asking for my money back which at this point was more logical than dealing with incompetence and at risk of getting a lousier job done . I will never step inside the salon in my life but if I'm ever seen near there again I will be holding a sign : unprofessional, incompetent , terrible customer services, !!!!!! I have to say I don't generally trust salons on military bases but I really like this place! To be fair I have only had my hair cut by one extremely nice lady (Helen). She has saved my hair from a at home bleach disaster! She is very knowledgeable and realistic. Each time she educates me on my hair progress and I have always been %100 satisfied! Keep I mind this is very impressive because my hair is thin but there's lots of it, it half wavy/half straight, has been bleached-stripped-box colored AND is very short a-line bob. With all that Helen helped me so much! I'll recommend her every time. Also another lady cut my 3 year old hair and she did a very good job at being professional and calm. So I called and made an appointment for Saturday to get the Keratin treatment and I was told to come in at 9am when they open. I was excited about getting my hair done here. Well I was there at 9am and the hair stylist was not, but that was okay until I was waiting almost 20 mins and the lady still did not show. So I just canceled the appointment because no one told me where the lady was or how much longer my wait would be. I will never ever come here again. I went for low lights today, my first time there. Samar was fantastic and I will go back. I really appreciate her considerate manner and massage during my rinse. I did not experience any delay or other problem with the receptionist. She even sent me off with a plastic cap to protect my hairstyle from the rain. July 2016 update: Samar is gone. I've been visiting this Paul Mitchell's for almost a year now. It's progressively gotten worse. The haircut was never the issue, Marie always took care of me. However the level of customer service has been dropping dramatically. I dread calling and trying to make reservations. Today was my final straw with the customer service. I had an appointment for yesterday which they called and cancelled due to the stylist needing to go home. Understandable. We rescheduled today and I showed up for the appointment. No one was in the reception area and 20 minutes later no one had come out. Then someone looked surprise to see me, I asked about my appointment and they walked away, presumably to check for me, and never came back. 10 minutes later I just left. I understand being busy, but that level of customer service is rare. Time to find somewhere new. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. This salon is one of the most unprofessional I have visited in years. I went in for a simple full weave with closure and was very disappointed. The braids were too thick, the closure net was exposed and it was loosely sown in. Additionally, I have to go back and forth with the manager to get a refund on unacceptable service. This is probably the worst salon experience I have had in my life. I went in at 11 today(12/26) with an appointment and asked for a simple wash/blow dry/ and flat iron. Not sure of the name of my beautician(I think it was Zakia) because she never explicitly told me but she was supposed to be someone who could do African American hair. The blow drying process was painful and tedious. She was not familiar with the products at all. The flat ironing process was just awful. I was holding back tears and she straightened large chunks of my hair. The whole time she kept blaming the appearance of my hair on it's thickness or the products. I have had my hair perfectly straightened before so I know I am not at blame. I'm pretty irritated I paid $58 plus a $2 tip. I will never go here again and strongly do not recommend it to any women of color with thick hair. Very disappointed. read more

One of the worst haircuts I've ever seen. My husband was in a rush to get to work after going here, so he didn't really look at his hair until he left. I told him he should go back today, since he spent $30. He didn't want to go through the hassle, and ended up shaving his head. He had a fabulous woman cut his hair last time, which is why he went back, and the ONLY reason for the 2 stars. Just be careful who you get here. read more

I took my six-year-old here. It was very affordable at $15 for a kid's cut, and she got in immediately even though we were a walk-in. My daughter has rather thin hair, still very much like a toddler, and the stylist really helped by giving her a cut that gave her hair some shape. She looked at her head and told me where she saw new growth, gave me a few pointers, and I felt relieved--she reassured me not to worry because she thought my DD's hair is coming in just fine and will be thick enough for at least a cute bob cut soon. I wish I had gotten the name of the stylist. I'll find out who she was and add her name here next time. I think I'll take my daughter back here next time she needs a trim or cut. read more

I will not be going here ever again. All I wanted was a simple cut. I had been growing my hair out to be able to donate it. I told the stylist, Su, that I wanted to donate my hair. She immediately started cutting without listening to me and said Oh you can't donate because you color your hair. I have never ever once colored my hair. Never go there if you want blonde hair! I came in wanting my hair to be more blonde. Apparently they don't understand what that means because my hair is darker than when I came in. I even showed a picture of the blonde I would like. It's now a light brown. They charged me for the serum to keep my hair blonde which I would have gladly paid for if my hair was blonde! It's not tho, so they charge you for unnecessary things. I'm never going there again! Even if they want to try to fix my hair because they obviously don't know what blonde is. read more

Made an appointment yesterday to get a kids haircut for $15.75. Turns out that my daughters hair was soaked when she was done getting her haircut today. Then and only then I was asked if I wanted them to blow dry my daughters hair for an additional $20.00. The lady cutting my daughters hair was friendly but the lady at the front desk (Laura) lacks good or even fair customer service skills. She did not greet us or any other customers both days. She was defensive when I said that a blow dry cost of $20.00 was not mentioned when we made the appointment. You would think that if my daughters hair was dry when she went in then it should be dry when she came out. Some how the total price came out to $43.00 before a tip. This was hands down the most rushed haircut I have EVER received. My entire haircut took a max of 5 min. She was in a complete rush. I have really thick hair and had it in a ponytail. I thought she would at least wet my hair before cutting it since I clearly had an indent. As a client you always want to trust your hairstylist. She asked if the length was ok several times as if to get my reassurance. Sure, but there was absolutely no way I could see if the cut was even at all. I will never go back. DO NOT go here. I was seeing a stylist named Zoe last year and she was great. I went in in Jan to make an appointment with her and she is no longer at the salon. I just needed a trim so I figured that I would just see whoever was available. BIG MISTAKE!!! I asked for 1/2 an inch taken off and she cut about 5. I was furious. She said she had to cut that much because it was damaged. I had a big chop in June(6 months earlier) so it could not have been that damaged. And even if it was, you must still get permission to cut that much. My hair was at a length were it came to my shoulders. After the cut, it was right below my ears. I asked to see and manager and was told she would contact me. She never did. read more

I'm Dominican and have natural hair that is also very curly, and I was looking for a closer hair salon so I decided to try it out. First, the wash and set does not include blow dry... Really?! I've been going to hair salons my whole life and when you make an appointment for wash and set it includes blow drying and styling as well. So I get her to blow dry it after taking the rollers out and when I went to check out I almost fell when I was told the total! $85!!!!!!! WHAT???? I've never paid this much to do my hair. I took my daughter her to have her natural hair washed, blow dried and flat ironed with Aida. She used entirely too much oil and too much heat. If you have to run the flat iron through the hair 10 plus times then it's time to invest in a good quality flat iron. Otherwise, you are causing heat damage. The end result was not good, my 10 year old daughter didn't like her hair at all and it didn't last a day. To top if off, they charged $48. I waited an hour for Su to do my other daughter's hair but she was working on one of the other complaints that I see below so I canceled her appointment. I think these ladies mean well but they need to take some additional training and lower the price to meet their actual skill level. read more
