Had been going to this location for over 30 + years when it was Sandy and Sons. They were great. Took our van in when OOROO took over and was told that it needed to have the upper oil pan seal replaced and the cost was over $3k to do this repair. I asked them to double check and they confirmed the same diagnosis. I took it to another local shop and also spoke to several master mechanics and found it was not the upper pan seal it was the timing belt cover that was leaking. Simple and cheap fix. Would not recommend this shop!! read more

Know this is for Ooroo Auto that recently took over Sandy & Sons on Lindsay and McKellips. Be warned...Seem somewhat nice at first, but be cautious. Front guys didn't listen to what I easily described and told mechanics something different. I couldn't have been more clear on my description of what I was hearing. Charged me $320 for it, then when I took it back in because they, of course, didn't get my issue fixed, they ignored me again. Mechanic that jumped in so I could point out what I'm hearing, said they were telling him something different. They then tried charging me an extra $410, to which they did end up refunding because the second round didn't work either. After they finally got a diagnosis, it was going to cost me $1,600. Seems like they intentionally ignored me to keep taking my $$, otherwise, why not tell the mechanic what it was I very clearly described? read more

Recently got an estimate for a repair. It was well beyond the price I expected and they quoted on replacing the wrong part which was much more expensive than the part needed. Their quote was 3x what I paid elsewhere. Sandy and Sons was always up front and matter of fact. Be careful and get a second opinion. read more

I've debated for a couple of months to post this review for a couple of reasons. 1) I don't normally like to post anything bad and 2) time has just escaped me. But as I started to experiencing trouble with my vehicle and where I wanted to take it I was brought back to my experience with Sandy & Son's and an oil change I received from them. I called ahead to see what the price of an oil change was and found it to be pretty comparable with other auto service places so I set up an appointment and took it in. I was working with Gunner and he said it would be an hour, and so I decided to stay on site and wait for it. I waited for well over an hour and when I went to pay it was much more expensive than originally quoted. When I inquired with Gunner as to why it was so much more expensive than originally quoted he annoyingly responded that "I needed a new air filter". I asked him if in the future he/they could just ask me if I wanted it replaced instead of just doing it. He snapped back that "he could take it out if I didn't want it". I responded back to just ask me in the future. He was not happy that I challenged him! This is my biggest fear with auto service places. Most women wouldn't say anything because they don't want to cause a problem. I don't care and am posting this because I don't want another person especially women to have the same situation happen to them. Truthfully I think what Gunner did was against the law and I could have taken it further...I just wanted people, women especially to know what they are up against when going to Sandy & Sons. read more

I am beyond happy I took my vehicle here after calling around to other shops. Thank you so much. They were able to address the problem I was concerned about and fix it in a day! Thankfully I came at a time when they weren't too busy with other cars. Lucky me. The quality of work Is there matched with knowledge. I also wanted to mention just how noticeably clean the shop was. My check engine light turned on about a week ago and it was really easy to make an appointment. I had gone somewhere else for an oil change and they told me I needed a ton of things fixed. I came in thinking it was related, but it was not. They did mention a part i need to replace in a couple months and were really honest with their pricing. I took the inspection slip to Gunner at Sandy and Sons and he came back and told me I only needed a few minor things done -- and not the expensive repair the dealership recommended. My family and I have been taking our vehicles to Sandy and Sons for over 20 years and I trust them 100%. They are honest and won't try to upsell you or convince you to have repairs done that you don't actually need. Gunner and Brian are friendly, provide great customer service, and they have integrity. Brought my car in to figure out why my a/c wasn't working - figured I would just need it charged. Was told I would need a new compressor and expansion valve, estimated at $1,345.00, they quoted $605.00 alone for a new compressor. My car likely isn't even worth that much (2011 car). Got a 2nd opinion and was told the expansion valve looks like an add-on item that's likely not needed. Bought a new compressor at Auto Zone for $340 and paid someone $250 replace it. A/c works great again, no expansion valve was needed. It's just a labor-intensive item to replace, so they can make extra on labor costs. So I ended up paying less than half of what I was quoted at Sandy & Sons, to fix my a/c in time for summer. Still hard to find truly honest mechanics, don't think I'll be coming back here again, even if the location is convenient. read more

We took a used Toyota (that we were thinking of buying) in for evaluation around 2002. Sandy and Sons pointed out a couple minor issues, and we bought it. We're still driving it. We decided to give them a try, and we were SO VERY impressed. From making the appointment, to dropping it off and then picking it up, everyone was so friendly. They took my car apart in certain places in order to diagnose the problem. They told me that it would cost $2200.00 I said put it back together and I'll pick it up. They never put it back together and I barely got it home. I took it in for a 2nd opinion elsewhere. It was a spark plug. Paid less than $10.00 and my car ran fine. These guys are liars and cheats. This was my 2nd visit to Sandys. I really wanted to like these guys. I haven't ever experienced a repair there, because they have priced me right out of the shop 2 times. My AC stopped working on my old truck so I brought it in. They said it needed new hoses and connectors, if they could even find them it would cost about $600. I opted to have freon charge and go. That cost me over $100 and I haven't had an AC issue again. So I'm guessing all it really needed was a charge. That was 2 years ago. Now I have a check engine light on. I just want to sell the old truck. They diagnose cam position sensor. Charged me $135 to get that code from the OBD code reader, they also want to replace the cam synchronizer and any radiator hose that is in the way of the part. Estimate for that is $787! The truck isn't even worth that much. I ended up buying the sensor for $21 on Amazon and replaced it myself. The synchronizer was still good so I didn't need that. read more

My truck engine suddenly began runnning very rough and the check engine light popped on. It would stall on idle and to had no clue what to think. I dropped it off for repair and got a call the next day from Gunner detailing what each of the engine codes were giving as clues. They dug in to find a covered vacuum hose had atrophied with age to the point of bursting. Problem fixed. The point is that I could've easily been told anything and been taken advantage of. I'm livid with this place. I was referred by a friend. My car was making noise when turning and wanted it checked out. In addition I wanted Brakes, shocks struts and motor mount checked and oil changed. After I drop off my car, I get a call saying that the shocks are leaking a little and no big deal other than that my car was ready. I pick up my car and receipt. Dumb-ass me didn't read the receipt as I was in a rush. I was charged 60 bucks to tell me my brakes were fine. The motor mounts were never checked. My oil wasn't changed. They said my fender was rubbing my wheel making the original sound when turning, Who knows. The receipt said to replace the shocks that were leaking. I came to this place expecting to replace the shocks. Not only didn't they do it, they tell me to do it in the near future. When I picked up my car I thought 60 bucks was steep for shifting my fender, but at least my oil was changed. NOT. Waste of a day. This place comes across as incompetent. read more

My brother recommended Sandy's. I had my car serviced at Sears at Fiesta Mall. Sears had my car in on several occasions (5), but was unable to diagnosis/fix my engine light issue. I took it to Sandy's and they were able to quickly diagnose the issue. Repair was explained to me, estimate was accurate and they showed me the replaced part.
