Made a pit stop here on the way to Sheboygan and was very surprised to see how many options they had. Their cheese danish was great and only $2, which is a hard price to find these days. We had some friends up to our cottage in Cascade and I wanted to find a good bakery for some birthday cake. It was last minute so I consulted Yelp and came across the Oostburg Bakery. When I walked in, I was greeted by the familiar smell of fresh baked cakes and cookies. One of my childhood friend's family owned a bakery. There was only one little cake was left when we arrived. I wasn't thinking ahead, so that was my fault, but also a good sign! It wasn't fancy, but just the perfect amount. I also bought some of the beautifully decorated flower sugar cookies. While I was waiting to pay, an older gentleman commented to me that he worked there 62 years ago as a junior in high school, and the recipes have not changed since then. I was sold! When it came time to celebrate my friend's birthday, my whole group agreed that their chocolate cake and cookies brought them back to their childhoods. There was something about moist, light and fluffy chocolate cake with just enough frosting... Thank you for our happy flashback to simpler times! fantastic little bakery in rural Wisconsin. we decided to make the 30min drive from the south in search of another great breakfast sweet spot & we were very pleased with what we found. quaint little shop, with a variety of donuts, scones, breads & other sweets. the raspberry white chocolate scone was one of the best I've had (crusty exterior but slightly soft inside), the donut was also extremely fluffy & fruit danish had a great flavor as well. not to mention the prices were also incredibly fair! definitely worth a stop if you're ever headed north! read more

We've ordered several cakes here and they are always delicious! Last one was strawberry vanilla with fresh strawberries. They also have donuts, pastries, bread, hard rolls, cookies, etc on demand for pick up. It seems like everyone knows each other here and I feel like an outsider every time I go, I guess I need to get donuts more often! Everyone is always friendly though. First time visiting - their hours and selection extend into the late afternoon. Drinks, including soda, available in the case up front. Hadn't read up on the reviews to find out their specialties, will need to return for cream filleds. Had gotten the apple fritter, a raspberry jelly filled, and a Persian (cinnamon roll like donut) with chocolate frosting and nuts. Not far a detour from I-43. Hope to return soon to explore selection, including breads, cookies, and bars. Part 2: On way back from Door County made another stop. This time got the Mud Pie - round yeast raised, chocolate buttercream frosted, (split?) with white buttercream inside. Even end of the day, the doughnut was light and fresh - be warned, Mud Pie is going to be more cream to doughnut that I believe the long john cream filled would be. Go with what you prefer more of... DIdn't get to try the custard filled...next visit. Saw that cookies were prepackaged in multiples, bread was mostly cleared out with this end of day visit. Will look out next visit for their selection of bread, bars, cookies (and other doughnuts). read more

This is one of the best bakeries in the world. Specifically the cream filling is incredible. Their coffee cakes show this off the best, get a double filled on if they have one. Their Long John's are also excellent as the feature both the cream and their wonderful chocolate frosting. They sugar cookies are also great. Perhaps more important than all the sweets is the quality of their hamburger buns. You can get both hard and soft rolls. They make hamburgers better. Their breads are also excellent. read more
