Went for the first time today because I needed to get something last minute for a coworker's birthday. Was pretty busy with a pleasant atmosphere. Smells were amazing. You immediately see the large case of cookies, and then donuts. Great selection with some fun topping choices like butterfinger and fruity pebbles. The employee who helped me was very nice. I think she knew I hadn't been there before because trying to decide a selection of a dozen donuts was difficult (in a good way!), so I decided to just let her pick a random selection for me. Got an iced caramel macchiato for myself which was very good. I didn't realize that they had a case of assorted cakes that I could have got for my coworkers birthday after I had already bought the donuts. This is in no way the fault of the shop because it's literally across from the donut case. I just didn't notice because it's a lot to take in! Anyway, will definitely return. The only critique I have is that you cannot add a tip if you're paying with a card. I never carry cash so I felt really bad that I couldn't tip the lady that helped me. This place is the OG of Sheboygan Bakery!!! The upgrade is truly incredible and beautiful. Now they can make lattes and coffee drinks, their staff/service is super fast and friendly. All the locals and OG's come here for REAL authentic donuts, bread, milk, treats for special events like teachers day or customer appreciation day and a huge selection of cookies and everything is all homemade!!! and not made with all sugar like other places! This place sells out ASAP bc it's the best in all of Sheb with variety, flavors, and calling ahead is definitely worth doing to guarantee you get what you want. Tried the applesauce and chocolate frosted with sprinkles donut. Both were very good! Cute local bakery, would recommend this spot over Sunday Dough (it's mostly a gimmick). The raised doughnut was just a bit oily, but the frosting was a rich chocolate, not crazy sweet. This is a super cute bakery located near downtown Sheboygan. I wish I could have stayed for a cup of coffee, as the restaurant area was welcoming with a huge picture window that just called to be sat by. I needed two dozen assorted doughnuts for work. The lady behind the counter was very polite and did a great job picking out a variety. The doughnuts were top notch!!! I will visit again. read more

We arrived at Johnston's Bakery after 9 AM on a Thursday. It has great parking across the street. I loved the nostalgic feel with a group of retired locals laughing at a table nearby. We were instantly helped by the friendly workers. A young lady recommended the cherry and cream cheese danish. It was a perfect ratio of pasty and filling. My sister enjoyed the cherry turnover, but she wasn't a fan of the crueler. The bakery has over 9 inside tables ranging from 2 to 5 seats. There is also a private room that accommodates a larger group. There is even more seating outside in the back. It seems like a nice place to relax and socialize or co-work from. read more

Was in here 2 times in the week we visited. Got a coffee the first time and wasn't very impressed with the young girl's working. No personality, not very welcoming or friendly. We felt like we were bothering them by stopping in. The shop itself is very cool. Love the ceiling fan system and the tin ceiling. The next time we stopped in we dealt with Amy for some cake questions and another woman that was new there. Both were great to work with, good personalities and helpful. If we didn't have the first experience it would have been a 5 star. read more

Came by here after checking out Bookworms Garden. Got the raspberry elephant ear and cinnamon roll donut. Boy, the elephant ear was at least 5 lbs and delicious! I ate 1/3 and couldn't eat anymore. Loads of raspberries preserves and cream cheese for less than $3. The donut was fluffy and soft. They got the weekend special $1.2 for a dozen giant cake donut holes. Their interior, ceiling fans are so cool. Definitely must return when in area. read more

I used to love Johnston's. They had fresh made delicious baked goods. I went this past week and was sorely disappointed. Every item I ordered was old, dry, crusty, stale. The lemon cream cake that I get because it's so moist had a hard crust all the way around. Not day old crust, more like week old crust. The pineapple upside-down cake had a hard surface where gooey caramel should have been and the cake was dry and crumbly, also very old. The jelly filled donut, which I would think is a safe, daily made bet, was also dry, stale, and barely filled tasteless jelly. Everything ended up in the trash. I want them to be the cozy hometown bakery with fresh, home baked goods they once were, but that was not the case this time around. The staff is friendly and the place is clean, so go for the coffee but save your calories for something better. read more

A cute little shop! Was very hectic this morning with the Senior Special, but service was still very good with friendly staff. Super fun to "get bakery" at Johnston's. We over ordered every visit! Of course they have donuts. Normal delicious donuts, not doughnuts drowned in toppings, trying too hard to be special. Better yet, there are so many other delicious treats, many I've never seen before. The smile sugar cookies are the real deal. I don't even like sugar cookies. These have actual flavor (hints of spice maybe)! There's a morning bun with cinnamon and a little apple - delish. Famous Sheboygan hard rolls seemed to be flying off the shelves as locals picked up big quantities. The staff was also friendly, attentive and patient. One staff member saw our indecisiveness and did mention to us that we could safely come back after lunch! Apparently, they do another fry midday to ensure items are available in the afternoon. This is one of my favorite spots in Sheboygan. It's a great bargain, especially because the quality is so high! Their rye, rolls, and sourdough breads are absolutely delicious. I've never had a donut or a cupcake from there that I didn't like. Their mini tarts are adorable and one of my favorites. Their apple and cherry pies? Awesome. But the number one reason why we go there is for their cookies. They are addictive. They also have SO MANY adorable cookies, it's impossible to pick just one. Plus, on Wednesdays, it's crazy cookie day, so cookies are cheaper! I recommend their mini tarts and any of their sugar cookies, plus their honey bear cookies. But honestly? I walked out with a half dozen huge donuts and a mini pineapple upside down cake for $6!!! Heaven help me and my personal trainer!! I think I ate 3 donuts before I made it back to my hotel. What can I say I grew up on this bakery as a kid and I love everything in the great place. The people are great, very very friendly! I get the chocolate mud pies (normally called Pershing) and they are mind blowing!! The cinnamon in the middle and chocolate together are just sooo good! I also like the cruellers sp?
