Maybe some of the best (sandwich) bread I've had. The sandwich's we tried were the Noreaster and the Neptuna. Both of the sandwiches were good, but the bread they were served on was the real winner. Also had some type of potato soup that was only okay. Had to try a couple of desserts too! Both were pretty good, my favorite was some type of bread with strawberries. First time here. We were staying at the American Club for the weekend and asked around for a good coffee shop in Sheboygan. This place was recommended, so we decided to give it a try on a cold Saturday morning. Food: We ordered a couple of lattes and some breakfast. For drinks, it was one Vanilla Latte and one London Fog Tea Latte. We asked for mugs, but they were served in glasses instead. Not quite the same, but acceptable. Both drinks were made well, with good texture, nice flavor, and the right temperature. For food, we ordered one Veggie Quiche and a piece of Spanakopita. After they were reheated properly (see Service below), both were very good. I had the Spanakopita, and it was loaded with spinach and feta. The dough-to-filling ratio was excellent. The flavors were rich and complex. The portion size was large, larger than my appetite, but I somehow managed to keep working on it until I was completely stuffed. Service: The service around the food was disappointing. Even though we were clearly dining in, our order was marked as takeout. This created a number of issues. When the food arrived in takeout containers, I mentioned that we were eating inside (especially obvious since our drinks were in glasses). The server simply shrugged and said, "Oh well, they are marked as takeout." I went to the counter and asked for plates and that the food be brought to the proper temperature. It took a while, but they eventually returned with the food reheated, served on plates, and replaced the plastic utensils with metal ones. There was very little acknowledgment that a mistake had been made, and no real apology for the delays. Atmosphere: The place is rustic and right on the water. It reminded me of a fish shanty, in a charming way. There are a couple of different rooms for seating, and we chose one in the back that was quieter. I liked the authentic feel of it. However, there were some areas with old furniture piled up for storage, which took away a bit from the overall look. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the river, which would be a lovely spot to sit on a warm day. We would go back. If we ordered food again, I would just make sure they clearly understood from the start that we were dining in so the details were handled correctly. read more

We enjoyed lunch at the Weather Cafe on the Sunday during Labor Day weekend. It was pretty busy and the wait time was pretty long (20 mins or more). Not sure if that is the norm or if it was because it was a holiday weekend and many other businesses were closed. We all enjoyed our meals. I especially liked the chicken curry wrap. You could tell all the food is made fresh. They have tables inside and outside. There are tables outside by the canal and some around the side of the building. We picked a table outside on the side, but a bee kept on trying to land on my sister's smoothie so we ended up eating and running. read more

I recently visited here with my dad for lunch. The space is a rustic fishing shack with little superfluous decor. There are two interior dining rooms and external patio seating. The menu provides options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. On the day we went we entered during a lull and shortly after we ordered they got a big line of people. If you are looking for a morning pick-me-up this is the place to get it at! The "Rob Machado" has become a personal favorite while in town; mixing together some of the best flavors in coffee. And do not be fooled by the small kitchen, if you have an appetite it is worth a try. They manage to make the bottom of their muffin arguably as good as the top. To top it off, after needing a 2nd cup the following day, I forgot to have my stamp card stamped and the barista gave me no hassle at all when i went back in. I will be back time and time again! We recently visited Sheboygan for the first time and this place came up in search. It's a cool spot right by the river, but the food is not great. The baked goods looked OK, but I got the breakfast burrito and it was basically flavorless, which, OK, but then pico came on the side. ZERO spice. And my gf got the quiche, which she ate a bite of and noped. All our food was served in styrofoam with plastic utensils, even though we were eating inside. Which sucks. Finally, although they weren't busy at all and the people behind the counter were kind of standing around, the bathroom was crazy gross. Straight up sh*t splatted all over the toilet seat. Service was quick. We went during COVID and employees were not wearing masks but seating is reatricted to outside only. I understand we're all in different places in staying safe, but as a business, you should cater to all customers and error on the side of safety. The food menu is limited. No kids menu and nothing really for a typical kid to eat. As a result my kids went down to Parker Johns and I are at The Weather Center. After reading reviews and browsing the menu, I ordered the full salad for $10. Came here during a day trip adventure for a little waterfront lunch. They have a quirky, fun ambiance inside and a beautiful waterfront patio with outdoor seating outside. It's an order at the counter and they'll bring your meal to you sort of set up. I ordered the Noreaster, which is a sandwich that consists of turkey, tomato, red onion, greens, and bleu cheese. It sounded dynamite. But, in reality was a solid a-ok. The star of the show, however, are their espresso drinks. I got an iced mocha. It was rich, whipped cream topped indulgence in a glass. I loved every sip. I waffled between 3 and 4 stars on this one. But, the patio (picturesque), mocha, and friendly service demanded fandom. Get to it! read more

Good food - sandwiches and salads in particular, but be prepared to wait! The line moves pretty slow and then the food takes a while to come out (as it's being made from scratch). If it was a little faster, particularly to place the order, I'd come more often. read more

Amazing place with a soul. Seating indoor is rustic but friendly and original. Outdoor seating along the river on the boardwalk is amazing when it's sunny and not too windy. The coffee drinks are rich and done with care with a classic percolator espresso machine. The smoothies are made to order with real fruits and taste like at home, and the pastries are generous in size and the best in town! (Muffins are just amazing: Salted-Caramel, Expresso-Chocolat, and the classic Blueberry). For a quick bite at lunch, the revisited Southwestern Chicken Quesadilla is one of my favorites, with its home-made cumin-flavored sour cream side, that if complemented with a dash of Tapatio Hot Sauce will make everything on the plate so addictive! The place feels like a small-town neighborhood cafe - charming and a bit quirky - where locals often meet to chat about anything and everything. There's truly something special about the Weather Center Cafe. It combines charm and ambiance, great local food, and the relaxation of Sheboygan's harbor into a very appealing adventure. What a locally-owned treasure! I visited Sheboygan with a friend who formerly lived in the area and for him the trip was nostalgic. He remembered the Weather Center's homemade Granny Smith apple muffins - and a few decades later they still make them. The staff told him they were sold out for the day, adding "you have to get here really early for those." Regardless there was an impressive array of mile-high quiche, spanakopita, baklava and other baked goods available. We were there at lunchtime, so I ordered the Southwestern Chicken Quesadilla and he got the Typhoon, a burrito with beans, onion, tomatoes and cheddar adding in avocado and black olives for good measure. It's always fun to sample and share. My quesadilla was a healthy portion of chicken, pico, melted cheddar cheese, red onion and red pepper. The tortilla it was wrapped in was crisply toasted, perfect. It had a side of pico, sour cream and lemony tortilla chips that were to die for. The burrito delivered on its promise. It was loaded with beans and rich and cheesy. The avocado blended well. We didn't notice any black olives but we may have missed them. There were other items - sandwiches on freshly-baked French bread that other patrons raved over, salads, coffee drinks and smoothies, in a fun-themed menu that named side items "debris". The nachos on the "debris" menu could had fed a family of four, they were enormous! We sat outside and watched the numerous charter fishing boats glide in and out of the harbor with customers. The water was entrancing, mesmerizing and relaxing. We would have stayed longer but the weather darkened a bit so we headed for indoor space. For me it was a great introduction to an awesome place. He was happy to see something so great from his past is thriving today! read more

I asked for an egg and cheese sandwich and they gave me a very hard time about this. All but one girl on the floor gave me they we don't do this, even after I paid over 4 dollars for the sandwhich on a bagel that they don't do. I told them I will not be coming back so this is the last time they will have to make it. Terribly rude and if I hadn't already paid I would have left right there and then! If you don't like what they have on the menu they refuse to accomodate. Watch out for this 'cafe'. read more

I ordered their bread pudding and it was not only a huge portion but it was amazingly good and fresh. Everything there is made from scratch. The bakery is so fresh and delicious. The salads, soups, and sandwiches are delicious and filling. The interior is cozy and unique, with a nautical theme. If it's nice out, you can sit out on the back deck and watch the river go by. It's everything you want in a coffee house and more. Bland stuff. I got the banana smoothie which tasted like banana milk and was the texture of it too. Their cheesy scone was hard and not edible without tons of butter and asking them to reheat it multiple times... the best thing was the milk and honey drink with spices on top! Had a morning coffee and a muffin. Everything tasted good and was adequately priced. Decided to get a couple things for later and they put all of my items in one big paper bag with no protection or way to keep anything separated, and of course when I got back to the room and looked in my bag I saw squished pastries everywhere jumbled together. They need to invest in boxes or some sort of contraptions to help keep muffins apart and in one piece. Probably my favorite cafe/restaurant anywhere ever! I have to stop every time I'm anywhere near my hometown. The food is always excellent with fresh ingredients. I usually get the Half sandwich and cup of soup when it's cold out, or a fiesta wrap and a Rainbow Delight smoothie in the warmer months. I've never had a better smoothie, and anyone I introduce to a Weather Center smoothie agrees. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is just right for the Sheboygan Boardwalk (though I'd say the Weather Center pretty much defines the boardwalk). The only negatives I could possibly think of is that sometimes Alterra Coffee is a bit on the strong side for me (to others this is usually a good thing!), and I've had an extended wait for my meal probably once every 7 or so visits, but those times are usually quite busy, and I can forgive a wait for fresh food. Also I don't mind waiting in a place as nice and comfortable as the Weather Center. Definitely check it out if you like fresh natural food, delicious pastries, smoothies, real coffee, and a warm environment! read more

I am writing this review in hopes that the restaurant will improve. I used to live in Sheboygan 15 yrs ago and this was my favorite spot to get a coffee and/or a sandwich. Excellent location and granola crunchy type cafe. I was there yesterday and I have to say I was so disappointed in my neptune sandwich. There was hardly anything on it. the layer of tuna was so thin along with the fixings. the bread is delicious and homemade but they skimped on the ingredients. my boyfriend's nor'easter was the same way- not enough Turkey and other stuff. we asked for chips to go with our sandwich. the guy at the counter didn't tell us that they don't have potato chips. they make their own chips but he failed to tell us that one order would suffice for 3 people. we received 3 huge styrofoam boxes full of chips. completely unnecessary and what's with the styro foam? you are so careful about recycling other stuff? i would only go again for coffee and bakery. This is a great place to get a healthy meal. I agree that the place is shabby chic. They might want to do a sprucing up one of these days. Other than that, I have enjoyed everything I have eaten there. All the food is prepared fresh, with good ingredients. I've had sandwiches and soup, it's all good. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. You order at the counter and they bring your meal to you. They lost my fifth star because they seem to struggle serving hot food. More often that not the coffee is luke warm; and the soups tepid. First off, can't beat the location. Right on the river, charter boats always passing by. Definitely recommend sitting on the patio under an umbrella. Went here for breakfast with my parents, while the breakfast menu is small, everything we had was delicious. Although we didn't get any pastries, the selection was incredible and so very tempting! You haven't lived until you've tried a rainbow smoothie. Sadly since this place is in Sheboygan the vast majority of the world will never live. My aunt lives in Sheboygan, as did her two daughters who have since moved away but still had their weddings here. I've been to Sheboygan three times now and every time I absolutely have to stop by the Weather Center. The food here is pretty good. Lots of vegetarian options. I've had a few sandwiches from here and some of the pastries and I have never been disappointed. Everything is great and worth trying. But what they do better than anyone else are smoothies. Well scratch that. The rainbow smoothie. I've never tried any other flavor because this one is just so good. The consistency. The flavor. I could live off of this smoothie. I just want to put on a wetsuit and snorkel and dive into a pool full of rainbow smoothie and drink until I explode (well hopefully I'll have the wherewithal to stop before then...but I'm not sure if I trust myself). So if you live in or near Sheboygan and have tried the rainbow smoothie yet...what is wrong with you? Get over there! And if you're ever in town then head over to the weather center and order that smoothie. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place from my hometown is the coffee shop by which I judge all others. They have Alterra coffee (my favorite), great sticky buns, and a view of the river. I can't count the hours I spent there, but it's the best spot and view for drifting away behind a cup of joe. The view's change a little: no more coal pile, new expensive hotel and condos instead. And they've finally expanded seating. Still, I love going there, even if they have the coldest bathroom in Wisconsin. The owner loves the weather, because he loves to know when the weather is right for surfing. So the place is decorated in related paraphernalia. I stop in everytime I'm in Sheboygan, regardless of whether I need the coffee. read more
