We bought a ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate croissant, an almond chocolate croissant, and two cinnamon rolls (French style - not cinnabon). I was so hungry that we stayed in the shop to eat the ham and cheese croissant. It was delicious! I'm ashamed to say that I didn't savor it - I inhaled it. The buttery goodness of all the pastries make it hard to resist. We brought the rest of the goodies back home. I reluctantly shared the treats with our family. Next time, I'm hiding them! I had a special request a few months back for something no other bakery would do and Hartman's came through for me! I needed several loaves of unsliced white bread for a special event and they had it ready for me the next day. I ordered a birthday cake for one of our girls birthdays and it was by far and away the best bakery cake I've ordered in this area in the 7 years we have lived here. They have a lovely shop right in downtown Plymouth with parking in front and back. There are tables to sit inside to enjoy your bakery with their coffee offerings. Roeck's Bakery supplies many restaurants in Kiel with their delicious baked goods. My nephew loves their loaves of wheat bread. I must recommend their blueberry cupcake with cream center. I do not usually like cream in my cupcakes because typically the creams have a funny taste. At the insistence of my sister, I got the cupcake. I am so happy that I did! The cream is fresh and doesn't have any additives or flavors. Roeck's has redefined the cupcake! If you are not a cream person, like I was, maybe try Roeck's! You'll be presently surprised! For drinks, it was one Vanilla Latte and one London Fog Tea Latte. We asked for mugs, but they were served in glasses instead. Not quite the same, but acceptable. Both drinks were made well, with good texture, nice flavor, and the right temperature. For food, we ordered one Veggie Quiche and a piece of Spanakopita. After they were reheated properly (see Service below), both were very good. I had the Spanakopita, and it was loaded with spinach and feta. The dough-to-filling ratio was excellent. The flavors were rich and complex. The portion size was large, larger than my appetite, but I somehow managed to keep working on it until I was completely stuffed. Service: The service around the food was disappointing. Even though we were clearly dining in, our order was marked as takeout. This created a number of issues. When the food arrived in takeout containers, I mentioned that we were eating inside (especially obvious since our drinks were in glasses). The server simply shrugged and said, "Oh well, they are marked as takeout." I went to the counter and asked for plates and that the food be brought to the proper temperature. It took a while, but they eventually returned with the food reheated, served on plates, and replaced the plastic utensils with metal ones. There was very little acknowledgment that a mistake had been made, and no real apology for the delays. Atmosphere: The place is rustic and right on the water. It reminded me of a fish shanty, in a charming way. There are a couple of different rooms for seating, and we chose one in the back that was quieter. I liked the authentic feel of it. However, there were some areas with old furniture piled up for storage, which took away a bit from the overall look. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the river, which would be a lovely spot to sit on a warm day. We would go back. If we ordered food again, I would just make sure they clearly understood from the start that we were dining in so the details were handled correctly.

The beans tasted over roasted leaving the cold brew tasting like cigarettes. My americano suffered the same fate and espresso pulls felt too short leaving it bitter tasting. It may be the only place in town but I would keep driving in order to find an acceptable cup 'o joe.
