Everything was wonderful except the valet. We waited over an hour for our car. It's a shame but we won't be returning.

I wasn't a hotel guest, but came over for drinks outside at the pool and dinner inside at the hotel. Omg this place is soooo nice and the room was so clean and beautiful. We travel a lot and this place is soooo fun, lively. Staff is very friendly, the young people around the pool work hard at making you happy. The views are like none other. The sea Guini restaurant is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Reservation desk is very rude and not helpful. They don't listen and they could not complete the reservation. I tried calling the main desk and no one answers. Terrible check in experience with a total lack of customer service. Won't be coming back due to how terribly we were treated. Room wasn't ready and instead of being treated with kindness or apologies about it, we were ignored and treated to an ever changing narrative. Traveling soon after hotels opened back up I expected some potential hiccups, but there's no excuse for customer service going out the window. A staycation get-a-way! Really enjoyed relaxing and hanging around the hotel/beach/pool even though it was rainy. We were able to get some sun in. The restaurant, Sea Guini, is delicious and outstanding service. Costas waited on us twice and was top notch both times. We were very impressed. We had hog fish and a fresh pasta dish, enjoyed the brussel sprouts, grouper just a few. There are no complaints there. We only wish there were a few more shops, possibly a coffee shop or even another restaurant besides the sand bar. I know space is limited though. (A pantry on each floor offers free fruit and cookies) We really only experienced some issues with customer service but it was worked out. Try out Opal Sands, take in the scenery, enjoy a pina collada poolside, relax and have fun. Short walks anywhere on Clearwater Beach. It's a very convenient location. read more

THIEFS! If you are OK with housekeeping going through your belongings and stealing from you then this is the place to stay. Management will run their "investigation" but in the end do absolutely nothing about it. In the morning we went to breakfast and walked the beach, when we came back to get ready to go out for the day, I discovered that my gold earrings were missing. I thoroughly searched my room, despite knowing exactly where I had left them; and immediately reported to management. Casey in management said that he would speak with his housekeeping staff. And then I guess they took it upon themselves to search my room for me because they went back in while we were out to dinner; unannounced and we came back to everything re-arranged. They called me the next morning and simply said they have spoken with their staff and no body recalls gold earrings. In the end, nothing came of it. Not even an apology that their staff stole a $500 paid or earrings. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

The view is to die for and The sea guini restaurant was phenomenal , our server Taylor I believe was awesome very welcoming staff ,the valet and at the reception the first night we arrived for the Michigan game . Hotel is beautiful but unfortunately for us We weren't impressed , the first night was perfect . Next day ate breakfast at the sea guini again, went to the beach came back at 4 pm went up to the room and room wasn't serviced called the reception It will be taken care of " 530 pm it was cleaned . But if you look closely the floor is not cleaned properly . We had to sit in the lobby 1 hr1/2. Next day went out to shop and tour a bit came back 330pm nothing g was cleaned and had to sit in the lobby again we decided to have a coffee and a desert our server at the sea guini gave us two loaded expresso cappuccino's when I asked him for milk or cream he got offended you need milk for your cappuccino ? Really . I told my son to come on over with his family but after this we told him don't bother . My daughter had a massage at 4 pm in the room guess what after an hr she was done with her massage we came up again took a shower went out for a walk then dinner , called the reception to see what's going on with the cleaning crew again 730 pm room was not serviced yet . Yes, there's a "resort" fee and yes they charge you for valet but we had cookies, water and fresh fruit in my floors pantry at all times. I took my car out of valet numerous times and the transaction was painless. The staff was helpful, going as far as recommending some local restaurants for dinner. We ate breakfast and lunch each day on the property, and those meals were tasty. While our schedule didn't allow for use of the pool we did notice it was staffed each time we walked by. A great few days, can't wait to go back. $250.00 per night plus fees. read more

Fake Boutique Hotel We decided to select this Hotel for the many online reviews for our summer vacation during Cobid-19. We though a Hotel like this one would complaint to all regulations and not only follow directions but continuing with an excellent customer service. We were so wrong.... First of all they charge you $25 per day for only valet parking, were not only it takes forever to get your car, but also MULTIPLE valet personnel drives your car without any protection (globes, or proper mask) . Therefore, every time you get your car, you have to sanitize your car keys and the interior. No sanitizer or any products are available or provide. During our reservation process where no announcement or advise that the Hotel doesn't provide housekeeping services because Covid-19. We found out at the check-in that only every 3 days, housekeeping will clean the room and change towels. We arrived on Monday, technically we should it have housekeeping on Wednesday...well they didn't, the excuse was every 3 'FULL' days! I asked to speak with the Manager and he literally told me 'You should be grateful that we have services every 3 days, last week we were only offering once a week cleaning services' ...unbelievable They did not offer you trash bags for your trash, no fresh towels every day, no refill of your coffee/tea machine in the room, etc. On Thursday (4th day) they only make the bed. No change sheets or pillowcases and only 2 coffee pods with two sugar kits. On our last day, we asked for late check-out or place to leave our suitcases, both alternatives were denied. They said that the Hotel was booked on that day and they need to flip the rooms right away???... They told us on the first day that rooms can be changed because per "Hotel regulations" rooms need to be unoccupied for 24 hours for disinfection and deep cleaning process! There were no intentions from the Management to ensure a customer experience or come up with creative ways to continue providing a Boutique Hotel experience during Covid-19 as simple as to provide fresh towels and a trash bag for your dirty one. Front desk advises you to leave them outside of your door on the floor! Save your money, go to a well-known Hotel brand where they will appreciate your business. My first visit with Opal Sands Resort was in March 2017. The resort was very clean, beautiful and a place I would come back to vacation several times a year. With covid, we were unable to vacation there last year but couldn't wait to return this year. We were there the week of May 15-22. I was amazed that no one wore a mask, when it clearly states on the doors and on posters inside, that mask are mandatory. I was also disappointed when all I would see is people running in and out in their wet bathing suites to the restroom and just hanging in the lobby. We like to relax in the hot tub but only to find it looked filthy all around the tiles. This is a beautiful resort and it makes me sad that I felt like I was at a Motel 6 or something. Off to a rocky start. Valet was unorganized and cramped. They tell cars to move while car doors are still open. We brought our dog for the opal paws experience but the new ladies checking us in didn't know about this and said they do not have dog mats nor bowls as advertised on their website. They weren't trained well on the system and pricing as they kept going back and forth about how to check us in and which fees to charge. At one point during checkin they told me I owed more on the room even though I paid fully in advance for the room. They backtracked and realized they messed up but never apologized. The room we were initially assigned was not the room we reserved so we had to go back to the front desk to get re-assigned the correct room. No one apologized for the inconvenience nor acknowledged their errors / mistake. Even the manager came over to check the system and discuss how to resolve the room error and and he never said hi nor welcome nor apologized for the inconveniences as they conversed in front of us. For this to be a four diamond resort, it was a very disappointing experience. Update: When the final room was ready the lady at the front desk apologized and gave us free breakfast vouchers. Despite issues, she was very nice and patient throughout the enter checkin process and I believe the issues we experienced is more of a management/training problem. We loved the comfort of the room and the amenities. Ants were all over our balcony and tiles were loose in the bathroom. We loved the live music from the sandbar restaurant but the restaurant service was hit or miss. We are not rushing to go back to this resort although this resort is one of the nicer Clearwater Beach resorts. Overall it was a nice stay but it unfortunately wasn't what we were expecting from a "luxury" resort. I would suggest using the word "luxury" very loosely when describing this resort. read more

Day 1- We were told to checked in by 4 pm and our room wasn't ready for an hour. We were then added to wait list for our room as if we were early and outside the check out window. My opinion: Late checkout allowed at the hotel for others is not excuse enough for my room to not be ready. We were offered drink coupons that had stipulations on drink type utilized and only certain drinks could qualify. Per their coupon: If you utilized their free coupons an 18% gratuity would be automatically added to your bill ( this is not exactly how I saw them making up for losing an hour of my reservation). A complimentary entree/meal or percentage off would have sufficed better. I asked for a map of the property and the check in personnel stated there was none. I was extremely surprised for this of resort. Day 2-3- At guest services, when I asked for a place to purchase souvenirs we were told there were several along the beach walk and if I walk the strip I could find them. Not exactly helpful from the concierge/front desk staff. She was not rude just appeared young and ill informed. Other large popular brands should be emulated if tips are needed. I was informed there was guest pantry but was not told where it was or how to get there. The main cleaning personnel assigned to our room was not customer friendly at all. She smiled but you could tell you were bothering her. Certain towels, robes used were not replaced. The replacing of the towels was not a huge inconvenience as it was just my husband and I. However, I called for another robe after reading I'd be charged if it was missing. In most cases the do not disturb sign was out each night however while expecting room service the proceeding day on 1/1/20,I did not put it out the night previously. When housekeeping knocked it took me a while to get to the door( my usual time zone is 5 hours behind Tampa) and it appeared our less than friendly housekeeper was irritated from the scowl seen through the peep hole in the door. When I requested through door if she could return later she uttered something I could not hear but she definitely appeared upset. After cleaning the room on 1/1/19, the floor was still dirty and needed to be vacuumed; this was not done until a personal request was made while she was in another room. Food: satisfactory taste only experienced the Sandbar and room service. Food/Order correct- Subpar! Synopsis: Overall a beautifully decorated hotel. Accommodations superb! Dining customer service at Sandbar & Room service satisfactory. Food correctness- subpar (any additions/alterations) requested were ignored and food was incorrect. Customer service at check in-subpar , Cleaning crew borderline disrespectful, Turndown service satisfactory. For the cost of this hotel, I really expected more for my anniversary. Sure I could have complained but it appeared during this stay there were continuous issues. Rating: Out of 5 stars I would rate this a 4 based on location and the quality of accommodations. However, customer service throughout, information provided and food correctness drops this to a 2.5 for me. I live in Hawaii and will not be traveling or returning to Opal Sands for any future memorable events. read more

Rooms are nice. average cost is $215 a night so not cheap but in range of the other 3+ hotels right on the beach. They have a Tiki bar outside that is great for watching the sun set. There are four resorts on this public beach and this by far is the best. It is the only resort that has direct beach access and does not have to cross the road. The pool area is very nice because it overlooks the inlet to the bay. I know the other resorts pools are on upper floors and not near the beach. The hotel room was fair. It was not overly roomy and it was clean but not real clean. It did not have a microwave although one was located in the pantry area in the hallway. We did not like that the air conditioner turned off when you opened the sliding glass balcony doors and that it reset itself to 72° each time. It forced us to have to reset the thermostat every time we went out on the balcony. Very inconvenient. But still I think this was probably the best of the hotels on the beach and we enjoyed our stay read more

My family and I came here over spring break in early March and had an awesome time. The hotel is immaculate, the service was awesome, and the grounds were beautiful. I cannot say enough about how well of a time we had here. Too the weather was a little bit too chilly so we could not fully enjoy the experience, but I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed the room we had a suite, and it was just enough space for my family and I. We will be back soon, we love the Opal Sands Resort! Yes; it's a bit pricy but I feel it was worth it for the location, peace of mind and serenity provided. It was my birthday as well, and they provided a nice little welcome gift. Be sure to check out the Sea Guini at least once; great food and drinks. read more

High class, gorgeous, excellent service. This is the best place I've stayed at on Clearwater beach. I was on the 14th floor in a suite, the view was gorgeous, the bed was very comfortable and everything seemed to be built with quality in mind. Excellent location and the grounds seemed very clean. The restaurant/bar downstairs is classy, the food was good but it is on the pricy side. That should be expected though. I hope I get a chance to stay here again, and hopefully for pleasure next time. read more

We stayed here last year for a company event and had the most amazing experience. This most recent trip is not the same. I have a 6 month old so after my husband and I got him to bed we decided to utilize the balcony for a glass of wine. Our neighbors decided to use it for their recreational habit even though this is a smoke free hotel. To each their own. Next day we walk into the bathroom and it smells like we have pot stached in there. So we call the front desk and advise of the smell (I'm not looking to get their $250 charge). The girl calls back and says don't worry I advised them that the room next door complained of the smell. Why would you advise of where the complaint came from?!?! We went on with our night and since travelling and off our schedule finally got our son to bed at 10:30pm. My husband and I had used our company incentive to buy a nice bottle of wine and went on the balcony to enjoy it. 20 minutes later our neighbor returns to go out on his balcony and go into an explicit threatening rant. We went inside and I immediately quietly went down stairs. The assistant GM and off duty officer assured me it would be fine. No instead the off duty officer goes to the door and explains someone complained . After the officer left the guy is still out there fuming. My husband went down (so worried took the stairwell) assistant GM and off duty officer said they went up there and that's all their going to do and I don't get to use my $350 a night view. I travel more than your average person, and always pick nice hotels. I think the room was only $300/ night, but with taxes, resort fees, etc you should add about $68/ night. The rooms are nice, but no movies, games, or hotel tabs on tv. Just basic cable. Also, no refrigerator, mini bar, and just two bottles of water for coffee machine. The dining is just okay. Absolutely nothing for dietary needs. The beach is literally feet from the hotel which is so nice. They have a car for getting around. Very nice accommodations, but far below high end. The shower products in room are low end. It's a nice place, but not worth the money. read more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in early February. We were very impressed by how friendly all of the staff are. The staff working at the pool were particularly friendly and attentive. The pool itself was too cold to go in ('cause February), but it's gorgeous. Your stay "includes" (you pay for) turn down service, daily cookies, fruit, water, and pool amenities. All of this is grouped into a "resort fee". The website where we purchased our stay made this very clear but I can see how you might be upset if you didn't know about the fee. If you've ever been on a Celebrity cruise, the whole experience feels a lot like that (minus the all inclusiveness). There is beach access right off the hotel and you are walking distance from all of the touristy restaurants. Beautiful views of the sunset and I think every room has a gulf view! I can't say we'll be back since it's unlikely we'll visit Clearwater Beach again, but I can recommend Opal Sands as a modern, luxury place to stay. read more

Idk who the person is that had them go to any extra expense for their honeymoon, but we're here on ours now and they could care less. They wouldn't even honor the basic room upgrade we were told we would get with our Amex card saying they were booked full. Well we have eyes, they're not. The guy at the check in was honestly rude before we even asked about it, while we remained pleasant. The rooms are nice but we are paying for nice, so it just kind of is what it is I suppose. Hospitality is when something happens FOR YOU, it is absent when something happens TO YOU. I hate writing negative reviews as a business owner, in fact I just won't write one rather than a bad one.... but here is what happened TO US. We went to the spa today for my daughters birthday and had high expectations based on the fact it's one of the premier properties in Clearwater. Unfortunately we were absolutely underwhelmed. The spa is located deep inside the gift shop. It's contradictory to see a cluttered gift shop as a spa reception, in my opinion. There was no warm welcome, in fact we had to approach the counter in the gift shop to ask where we checked in... "Ya, right here"... again o am rating this based on the fact that this is a premium resort. When we were checked in we were taken back thru a little lounge area and inside to the locker room. It was all very standard with 1 bathroom and 1 shower. When we changed into our robes we went to enjoy the lounge area. Waters tea and fresh fruit- very nice. While trying to relax there was this young man going back and forth thru the lounge from the gift shop with inventory in his arms from the gift shop. He walked thru at least 5 times so it was to say the least, distracting and very un spa like. It was ridiculous. Could have been done while there were no guests in the lounge area-we were the only ones. Treatments were ok. When I went to check out the girl asked me how was everything. My response was "fine.... I guess" her reply, "ok would you like to add additional gratuity for your providers" Save your money and stay at the Hampton- Hilton properties deliver the best hospitality. Amazing! We come here every year for a conference and the staff, service, rooms, and the cuisine is top notch. This review is for Sea Guini as I get on my knees and bow to the chefs/restaurant staff! WOW! This trip I had their Bolganese w/Rigatoni. So well balanced, deep flavors from the meat and pasta prepared/cooked to perfection! For 3 nights I had the Caesar salad and would truly eat this every night for the rest of my life. The freshness of the romaine coupled with their Caesar dressing made with capers and a supreme quality olive oil put this over the top!!!! Just the right lemon to brighten the salad and a wonderful quality shaved parmesan with Asiago croutons. I'm making your mouth water huh??? The only "ding" I would give them is to serve the salad on a chilled plate when bringing to a room for in-room service. If you are traveling with children make sure you try their wood-fired pizzas. I will never step foot into this hotel again. I was here for a work conference. At lunch, in house catering set up two tables of the same food so that twice as many people could go through the lines quicker. When I arrived I noticed that one of the tables had no plates and the other table had a huge line of people. I grab some of the plates from the long line and headed over to the other table. A man from the hotel in charge of catering (suit, dark hair) started yelling at me saying he moved the plates over to the other table (with the long line) for a reason. (How was I supposed to know?) I said, "Sorry!' and walked away. He was still yelling as I walked away. I went back to the long line. The yelling man came over a minute later to apologize for 'humiliating me'. He used the word 'humiliated' at least four more times as he proceeded to thoroughly mansplain to me why I had upset him. I didn't engage as I just wanted him to get out of my face and he clearly is quick to react. This man has no business working with the public. I am a middle-aged woman, yet he felt it appropriate to yell at me like a child who had run into traffic. He then felt the need to approach me again and, in front of my peers, explain to me in detail how I had upset HIM and then how his actions had humiliated me. For the record, he did not humiliate me - he humiliated himself. I was disgusted and appalled by his behavior. read more
