Ok, I have gone to this nail salon many times before and enjoyed it. It wasn't the absolute best but it was decent and the ladies were sweet and the prices were decent. I could be crazy but I remember the gel up charge being $5. Today they charged me $20 for the gel up charge, on top of the pedicure charge. Basic pedicure with gel is now $55 before tip! I can get the same exact DND gel policy at Walmart for $14. Make it make sense! read more

I do not recommend! I was cut on foot near my ankle with the callus remover and my nail cuticle was cut during the manicure on Saturday! You can actually see the grater marks! I used soap and water as soon as I got home followed up with alcohol. Been using peroxide Neosporin multiple times throughout the day! Trying to not let it get worse! Praying it doesn't turn into a staph infection. The tech said sorry and just move on, didn't disinfect it or anything! read more

I've been here a few times before and had no issues. I got my gel nails done on Monday February 10th. Today is the 17th and I had my right thumb chip after opening something for dinner. Whatever I ignored the chip. Just now I was reading magazines and looked down to see all of the polish was gone on my right thumb and is nowhere to be found. Very upset that I paid for a nice service and tipped well for a service that did not last at least two weeks??? Plus I am traveling out of state tomorrow and don't have time to fix I will not be returning to this salon. In addition to the missing finger of gel polish my big toe was also cut on the side and then disinfected painfully with solution. Maybe I should have come in earlier so they didn't rush. I've been to another fancy place nearby but I was not impressed at all with the quality of service, whereas the ladies at Opal nails are very skilled and experienced. Very friendly people as soon as I walked in they offered me something to drink, even wine! I'm not used to that so it was impressive don't judge me. Lol Their salon was very clean and had many nail polishes to choose from. I had gel mani and it has not chipped for my full 2 weeks until my next one, and every girl wants to make sure your nails stay in tact. Terrible. I came in asked for removal of dip and tips and asked for new tips. She insisted my nails are fine without tips. She then cut them so short my nails look childish. And in the same day they cracked through. I went back to get it fixed and she told me she wouldn't fix it because it's "normal". I have always done dip and this crack is anything but normal. Most nail shops i go to have excellent and courteous customer service, but the manicurists at Opal Nails are incredibly rude and smug, and talked down to me. Not too thrilled about this place. They did a classic manicure and pedicure on me. No gel or anything. I did. It ask for it. What is disappointing to me is that the guy who did my nail slathered on three heavy coats of nail polish on three of my nails and I splotches in the paint to where you can see trough the paint to my nail. I went to pay with a card and had ten dollars in cash on my which I needed to break for a tip. I should not have even paid them five dollars for a tip. I handed the lady my ten and asked for five back. She came back to me with just my card and a receipt. When I asked her where my five in change was she got pissy about it. I cannot believe this place. Their prices are not worth it. Take your money elsewhere. You can find better deals and better manicurists. read more

I'm typically very afraid of trying new nail salons because I got nail fungus from another salon which left a sour taste for me on nails. A couple weeks ago, I got solar nails done on a whim while my husband was getting a hair cut at another place. That place was okay but not great enough to make me drive back to Pflugerville for a fill. So, I decided to try Opal Spa and Nails because it's very close to my house. At about 4:55, I called to see what time they closed. She asked me what I needed and how long it would take me to get there. I told her a fill and maybe 5 minutes. She said to come on over. When I got there, I saw that they close at 5:30 so I thought it was very nice that they were willing to take me so close to closing. When I walked in, she asked me if I was the woman that called and then I was seated at a station right away. Tina asked me what I wanted and how I wanted them. Everything looked really clean, they had little fume eliminating machines at the station, and she didn't rush through them like the other place. She really did a great job. Because I changed the color of my tips, it took her much longer than she probably expected. She stayed an hour passed closing time to get them exactly how I wanted them. I was a little nervous at first but Tina really did an excellent job. I only gave them 4 stars because it's my first visit and I don't want to judge based solely on that but I will be going back for my next fill. I plan to change the tip color drastically so we'll see how she does with that. If she knocks it out of the park, I'll definitely be changing it to a 5 star review! read more

Friendly, and attentive, but I paid for a gel mani/pedi only to have it chip in a day, and completely peel off in a week. It was applied very thick, too. Went to another place to get a new mani/pedi, only to discover what was left on my toes wasn't even gel polish! I used gift money my husband gave me from Mother's Day to do this, and am very disappointed to feel like his money was wasted! I used to go to this salon quite a bit because of the location. However the last few times I have been there have been less than stellar. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon for a pedicure, was told it would be 15 minutes...after the 15 minutes I was shown to a spa chair and left there for 45 minutes without having anyone start. Wonderful local nail salon. I've been seeing Tuli for several years now and she is wonderful. I get horrible ingrowns on my toes and she is an expert at removing them. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! I went there to get a simple design and when i showed her the picture of what i wanted she just looked and walked away and when she was taking off my old nails she didn't use any acetone she just ripped them off which is damage to my real nail. Once she started shaping the acrylics she cut them way too short and gave me a round coffin which isn't what i wanted, i wanted square. And my nails came out crooked and they aren't the same size or shape.So after ruining my nails i decided to not get the design and when i tried telling her this she kept yelling to see the picture of the design and i kept telling her it wasn't necessary because i was just going to get a plain color. She proceeded to laugh and talk about me with her colleague. When she was buffing and drilling my nails she cut me numerous times and now i have many cuts around my nails.
