At the end, you won't get an apology and you get embarrassed in front of whole casino. I mean, if you're looking for a last minute spot to get drunk and ratchet with locals...then this is the place to be. Let's just say, I had to keep reminding myself, "you aren't in Vegas..." The entrance is cool looking, except the fact that they had 10 security guards standing outside it. This did not help me feel safer, if anything I questioned even going in, but my brother in-law insisted we go in since Peek was too pricey for bottle service. So here we go... On Saturdays, they charge an entrance fee of $20 for guys and girls are free. Once you walk in, you can feel how small this place is. Immediately to the left you will find the only bar in the club. Directly in front of you they have maybe 5 "VIP" tables and a couple go-go dancing stages. Behind that is the DJ booth. This place is nothing special. I probably would not return for a second visit, merely because it smells like vomit, the DJ sucks and transitioning between songs and the vibe just isn't there for me. You just can't go from playing ratchet rap music, to a slow country song...no, no, no, no, no. Who does that? I am sitting here with 15 of my friends right now for a bachelor party. We are in the venue and it's horrible because... 1. We bought a table and the servers do nothing for you. Good luck getting drinks even though you paid for a table 2. They don't tell you, but you can't bring people to your table. 3. They kick people out even though there is room at your table and surrounding tables (see my picture) 4. The tables are far from the dance floor 5. They don't have bathrooms in the club. This place preys on NYE tourists and takes advantage of them. And they can, because they pretty much had a monopoly on the nightclub scene. We did the whole $50 pass for 3 clubs on New Year's Eve deal, but it was such a pain in the ass to get in and out of that we never left this one. Incredibly long line to get in even though it was early. Get this - the only restrooms available are OUTSIDE of the club in the casino area, and to get back in, you have to wait in line again. The bouncer rudely told me to get back in line with everyone else when I asked him if I could have a hand stamp or bracelet or something to get back in after having to pee. A few girls in the restroom told me that their guy friends just used the potted plants inside the club because it was so impossible to get back in. Nasty, I know, but what can you expect? I wasn't equipped like a guy, unfortunately, and my restroom trip took me 30 minutes. The bar consisted of a wall of people, and they were obviously not equipped to handle a NYE crowd. My friend tried to order a bottle of vodka for everyone, even though their bottle service was $$$. They forgot about him for a long time and finally brought a bottle of Skyy (they said it was the highest quality they had, even though he was going for higher) and gave him a tray and mixers to bring out to us. He missed the new year countdown as a result. You'd think that if someone was willing to drop serious cash on a bottle of Skyy, they'd make him a priority. We ended up in Opal after an evening of casinos and drinking because there was no cover for women. Loving it already. The place was a bit slow, but we didn't care. We danced and attracted other people to the dance floor. We were invited to the VIP lounge with it's cool sofas and hookah bar vibe. We met cool people, had great conversations, great drinks and didn't leave until about 2:30 (no last call in Nevada!) It's not as crowded as Blu, the other club in Montbleu, but it's not stiflingly hot and you actually have room to move. You don't have a bunch of unknown sweaty bodies pressed around you. It's a chill place, which was a great way to wind down the evening. They also play pretty much every Lady Gaga and Katy Perry song in existence. Take that how you will, but I could find that in any club in the Castro. read more

Came here on a Friday night with a bunch of girls while our bf's gambled in the MontBleu casino floor. After reading up on their website, it seemed like a chill place to go and had to check it out. Upon entering we had to pay 10 per girl, sucks, but girl drink free all night on Fridays at Opal, so we couldn't complain. The venue is simple. VIP tables surronded the small dancefloor while larger VIP rooms are along the walls and upstairs. The bar had seating areas and bar stools taht overlooked the dancefloor. The bartenders were very nice. Free drinks that night were only on well drinks and shots. They used cheap, which I call headache vodka for our well drinks and shots., like I said couldn't really complain free is free, right? Overall we had a great time. The dancefloor wasn't crowded, the DJ played top 40s which pleased everyone in the crowd. The crowd itself was diverse, however it was an older crowd that partied that night!! Hookah (20 per hour) was misleading. There was a waitlist that was 5min to an hour long! AND they only had TWO hookahs!! Most likely a place I would not go back to. read more

My friends and I were on a couple's retreat, and we saw their ad for the 'ladies night' on Fridays, when girls drink "free". I like that they're catering to bachelorette groups and ladies, but there were more than a couple of problems that ensure that we will not be coming back here. First, I can see why they try to create a line to get into the place, even when it's not close to capacity inside (more like on the "empty" side, because we went kind of early), but we were annoyed waiting in line for 15 minutes for pretty much no reason other than to serve as an "advertisement" that the club is open. You still have to pay the $10 cover to get to the "Ladies drink free" special. After a while, bathroom breaks are inevitable. However, the restrooms are outside of the club, around the corner near the buffet area. Leaving the dark club and heading into smelly and smokey casino territory while inebriated, just to get to the bathroom isn't much fun. And lastly, the most annoying point that took us a while to figure out from the very overworked bartenders: the "free" drink MUST BE: 1. ONE alcohol and ONE mixer 2. NO shots allowed 3. "well" alcohols only. 4. One drink at a time. False advertising about free drinks, IMO....they should really specify what is included, because it was really frustrating trying to hear the bartenders shout explanations that we couldn't hear over the music. read more

Nice modern lounge for Tahoe but not the most crackin' place I've ever been to. There was no dress code, which you would think they would to match their ambienance. There were people in hoodies, flip flops, prom dresses, and suits etc. You catch my drift. The DJ was ok, focused on house and played only a few hip-hop hitters. Nowhere to sit unless you have bottle service. They also have a top balcony for bottle service. Small dance floor but it was packed. Given that this is Tahoe, there wasn't many youngsters here or variety of races. I would say 80% of the demographic was Caucasian and 70% of the age group was late 20s and over. New Years eve weekend! I came here thurs, fri and sat night. I had a good time. This was probably my favorite place. I enjoyed the music. A bit of old a bit of new and some new mixed with old music. There were places to sit and if not, two ft. outside are casino chairs. It is $10 to get in. It is ladies night on friday nights, so free drinks. The redbull vodkas are pretty weak, but all the others are decent. It takes a while to get drinks as well, so that is the downfall. You get a wrist band and that also is good for the Bleu club, which always seems to be empty. There is one bar off to your left, seating near the bar, the problem is the creepy guys who sit there and just stare at girls like cattle. Yeah not the best feeling of eyes at the back of your head. LOL Also the smoking is gross in the club. My clothes and hair smelled horrible. One girl burned me with her cigarette. I suggest a designated area at least for people to smoke. Guys are creepers, you get them everywhere. Some are just fun and no harm done. Others just wont go away. One guy was up on everyone and saw him every night. I was nice except the last night. I just had it. I always said no thank you. The guy just kept coming back. So I yelled and said : you really need to stop! LOL... it had to be done. Yes I went to a nightclub and yes I'm giving it a four star review and if you promise to keep it between us I'll even admit that I danced. There aren't many nightlife options in South Lake Tahoe and the bars in State Line Nevada are mostly sad casino bars. I was traveling with a group of guys and the group wanted to go to this club. There was a $10 cover but we told them we were staying at the hotel, even though we weren't, and they let us in for $5. I am an adult and straight and I admit to having a healthy attraction to scantily dressed women. This place is not only full of female customers dressed sexy and dancing suggestively with each other but they also have three extremely hot Go-Go dancers. This club has really gone down hill over the years. When I was in college this was the hot spot to go, but now it's a disappointment. Friday night is ladies' night where ladies drink free. What that really means is we pay $10 to get in and you get free, watered down well drinks. There is barely any alcohol in those drinks. Totally not worth it. Saturday night ladies get in free but drinks are full price. During my most recent visit Friday night was very busy. It was overcrowded and took some time to get a drink at the bar. Saturday night however was the exact opposite, completely dead and whoever was there was mostly creepy guys. A year or two back I came with a large group of friends, both men and women. However, myself and the other ladies I was with believe we were either roofied or had something slipped in our drinks. We all blacked out at exactly the same time that evening after only having a few drinks. We all woke up feeling very sick and after doing some research, found that we had many symptoms of being drugged. This is very unsettling and all women should be cautious of this in the future, no matter what nightclub you are at. I know this experience is not due to the club, but rather some lowlife men, but it definitely makes us nervous to return. The DJ usually only plays older music, nothing really up to date and if you request something, odds are that they won't play it. read more

One word: bleh Why on earth would you carpet a bar? Just went to Opal for a bachelorette party this past weekend and was totally grossed out. Our group of 11 ladies showed up and were promptly told to get in line since we didn't have a reservation. So we got in line behind NO ONE, because obviously this is Tahoe not Vegas, and entered the bar. The bartenders were alright because the drinks were hella CHEAP! That is the reason I gave them the two stars. I didn't like that even though I tipped the bartender well I got skipped a bunch of times when I went for the second round. I was lucky enough to be at the grand opening of the Opal Ultra Lounge. Free drinks and free food was the perfect way to get introduced to this swanky bar and hookah lounge in Tahoe. Everything I tasted was exceptional for this event. From the first moment I stepped foot in this ultra lounge, I was impressed. They created a festive and fun atmosphere that is also sophisticated. When I met the mixologist and her customized liquor cart filled with a variety of organic ingredients, it was love at first sight. This is a trend I can get behind. I think she is a one of the kind at the moment ... but great ideas always seem to be duplicated. I give this establishment 5 stars because there is a lot of effort and expertise that went into this endeavor. It certainly is a risk to open a new spot in this town. Sometimes it is crowded and sometimes it is dead. If is seems less crowded than you would expect, it is because it is in Tahoe and it can be a little sleepy sometimes. And if you are in town ... get a drink here and see if you like it too. If not, the casino is in the next room. read more

I'm not much into nightclubs but if you like to dance and enjoy loud music this is the place. Drinks are verrrry expensive but you pay for the atmosphere. If you're lucky enough to know a VIP you can skip the really long line into the place. Be prepared to be searched. So I read some of the other reviews and I agree with most of them. There are two sides to the place...just like Lake Tahoe. You have both above and below the line. Out of the clubs in the Montbleu casino, this one is the best one hands down. It has the most room to actually move and walk around, without being forced to run into or squeeze by really sweaty people, which to me is always a turn off.... The decor is nice in this club, dimly lit, and they played the best music here by far. And the best thing about the Opal Lounge was that the line for the men's bathroom was actually longer than for the women's!!! AMAZING!! I had never been more excited to have to go to the restroom! The bar tenders were a little understaffed, but overall we got our drinks a little faster when the boys ordered than when I did, since the bar tenders were all girls here the night we went....gotta love sexism in a bar!!! ha ha But the dance floor was nicely placed and the bar area was elevated above the dance floor which created a nice feel and overall flow to this club. Multiple bars, stage, great VIP booths Bartenders are awesome, friendly and heavy on the alcohol!!! How much money did they spend on this place? Opal Lounge- oh sorry, Opal ULTRA lounge is very spacious, dimly lit, and well furnished. Leather sofas all around. In the place of chandeliers were brightly colored flowy draperies. The whole time there I felt like I was waiting for a performer from Cirque du Soleil to spiral down from one of them. The Mont Bleu (re-vamped Caesar's) did a good job with this lounge. I can't speak for any other weekend, but a group of us went up to Tahoe during MLK holiday and this place was packed. They advertised a $10 cover however that is only for locals. So remember when you get to the front of the line to say you live in town. Otherwise it's 20 bucks per person plus taxes. I never heard of a place charging taxes on a cover. My girlfriend and I did recover most of the funds by taking advantage of the free drinks for ladies till 1 a.m. which I will say for free drinks were pretty strong. I mean that's what my girlfriend told me of course LOL . The DJ needs a new job, he plays 30 sec of your song and then mixs it into the worse song ever. He almost made me hate a few classics. This way my first time at Opal. We attended as a bachelorette group (which is what they promote every saturday) and we received bottle service on the upper balcony. No line when we arrived; it was pretty early. So good for us! Bottle service was simple and straightforward, no issues there! The club filled up to a good sized capacity as the night progressed. I will say the guys there were more aggressive and we felt like we were shoving them away instead of enjoying ourselves. I do like the balcony upstairs, they limit the number of people up there and they have their own bar. Its fun to dance up above while facing the people below! You can see all the gogo dancers from there! One negative is that our VIP section had no barrier to the outside. No rope or anything. So people kept coming over and sitting on our couches and we had to police it all night. I didn't really appreciate that. Some even went as far as attempting to help themselves to our bottle service! Rude! This has room for improvement here. Lastly, the restrooms are OUTSIDE the club. read more

Based off my previous review, you can tell my experience with Tahoe night clubs was not going so well. So I did arrive here with a "anything has to be better than THAT" mentality. Though this is definitely the place my friends and I should have come to first. To start, just by walking by, we could see inside the club and were made certain that this was the place to be. It was filled with people, they had a mix of top 40 and old school playing, and the line moved along super fast. Ladies are free before midnight, and my friends and I arrived around 12:30am. The general cover is $10, but the girl at the door only charged us $5 each when she heard it was my birthday. TAKE THAT, $25 charge! This place isn't the most lavish of nightclubs, but my friends and I accomplished what we wanted here: a exciting night to remember. Here's what they did right: they weren't a**holes, the music was great and it drew in a more diverse crowd. My friends and I were able to dance, let loose and totally enjoy ourselves among other happy-go-lucky club goers. Now THIS is how I wanted to spend my birthday! The biggest downfall was that bar was packed and it was difficult to get a drink. Also, it turns out they charge the same price here for drinks, and they're still weak. However I could actually taste a hint of liquor. Go figure. I will definitely return when I'm in Tahoe. read more

I'm giving this 3 stars because the music was good and fun to dance to but the crowd was shitty. Needs to be classier. Location: The place is within the casino. We went on a Saturday night and got in for free as ladies before 12. It's open until 4am. Gamble before or after. Cigar store next door. Coat check also there and cheap ($3 per coat). Music: The music is a mix of top 40s, hip hop, and EDM which was slightly awkward at times. I wish they would have stuck to EDM instead of throwing in random hip hop here and there. Dress code: People were dressed nice. Ladies in dresses, skirts, heels, or at least something nice. Guys basically in whatever they wanted. Crowd: The crowd was pretty gross. People were dropping glasses, spilling drinks, and stumbling around. Some people were so drunk they were puking on themselves. Sure this is a club/lounge and that's bound to happen, but there were no bouncers anywhere except at the door. I wasn't expecting anything super classy, but decent enough that you would at least have bouncers kicking out super drunk people about to puke themselves. This place could be a lot better if they class it up a bit. Tips: If you're gonna be drunk as hell and don't mind being stepped on or have drinks spilled on you but just wanna dance, go for it. I went because it was my wife's birthday and she wanted to dance. There is a row of chairs along the upper level railing, but other than that, if you want to sit down, you have to order over-priced bottle service. So, the club had a pretty good crowd, but all of the booths and couches were cordoned off so no one could sit. Stupid. Lots of security, which I guess is a good thing if people get out of hand, but they seemed there mostly to make sure that no one sat down. If the wait was 5-10 min that would've been ok (I THINK) but the wait bordered on 15-20 min...and it wasn't even all that busy inside. The place is small, fortunately we got bottle service so we had our own private dancing area and invited a few hot boys to join in the festivities.. the bride to be went c-r-a-z-y and started stripping off the clothes of 2 boys...even so the initial experience at Opal was sour and we decided to leave after we finished all the drinks and went back to Vex.
