My husband and I recently needed MRIs after an auto accident, and our attorney referred us here. From the moment we arrived, we had a great experience. The facility was clean and well-organized, the music created a relaxing atmosphere, and the staff was welcoming and professional. Everyone was very respectful of our privacy while we changed and during the scan process. Since MRI machines can be quite loud, they provided earplugs along with headphones playing jazz music, which made the experience much more comfortable. After the scans were complete, we waited briefly to receive CD copies of our images. As a sweet extra touch, they gave me a rose and my husband a fun chapstick--small gestures that made the visit feel even more thoughtful. Overall, the process was smooth, comfortable, and efficient. Im a very claustrophobic person my Doctor has been trying to get this MRI on my shoulder for about a year now and I just couldn't do it at the Other locations so he referred me here and from the time I set up my appointment they were very understanding that made me comfortable they were very informative as well on the MRI procedure The day of my appointment the front desk was very nice and I was taken back by Michelle she was super nice very understanding about me being claustrophobic she reassured me that she was right there she gave me a eye mask earplugs and headphones to listen to music and that made it so much easier and not being in an tight enclosure helped it's not completely open but it's wide enough that it felt like a CT Scan and if you don't move like I did I was done in less the 20 min thank you so much Michelle for getting done in the least amount of time possible after getting my MRI they gave me my CD an a fresh Red Rose wow I was impressed Thanks you guys read more

Check in is a breeze and even when I had my son with me, they let him hang out with them so I could get my imaging done. Of course the imaging itself isn't the most comfortable, but they try their best to make it so by offering headphones with your choice of music, and also placing a pillow under your feet for extra support. After you're done the CD of your imaging is given along with either a beautiful single rose or a lens/phone screen cleaner as a thank you (cute little touch to end your appt!) THIS PLACE IS THE WORST. I went in for my TMJ and my dental specialist gave specific instructions as to what he wanted to see from my MRI. He wanted to see if my jaw's disk was out of place. I got the MRI (had to pay out of pocket) and all the report said was "Disk not shown". The dental specialists office and I called Open Advantage for two weeks trying to get in touch with their radiologist. We were told she keeps trying to call my dental specialist but she never left ONE message. If you want an MRI that actually tells you what your doctor wants to know, don't go here. Once they get your money, all you get is the the run around and ZERO useful results. read more

My elderly mom needed an urgent MRI after an acute onset of extreme confusion. The medical group she is with couldn't accommodate the urgency. Advantage Plus went to work immediately to get the order from the doctor and verify her insurance. They got her in within 2 business days! I was impressed with their sense of urgency and compassion for what our family was going through. They were extremely kind to my mom when she arrived and helped her to feel comfortable. This MRI is located at 800 Howe Ave. The front end staffs were very nice and friendly but not the technicians who scanned you. They were not professional and not compassionate with patient at all. There weren't any communication between the 2 technicians that worked on you. The machine is so loud, they didn't use earplugs instead they put on a headphones and when music stopped at 10 minutes in, you were lying there so loud it made my head spin and felt nauseous. I had to press the emergency button, luckily that was the end of my scan so I didn't have to do it again. They told me I will have an open MRI but I didn't think that was an open MRI, I were push into the tube. Overall, I didn't have a pleasure experience at this place. I hope they will improve so the next patient doesn't have to suffer. I have severe headache for the rest of the day. read more

I don't write many reviews but this place deserves to be recognized. Although I have medical insurance, this place is much cheaper than what my own KP insurance was charging. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the results came back fast and now after 8 years of suffering with ankle pain I now know what the issue is. I had an MRI done almost 3 years ago and I've have seen many podiatrists since who were either incompetent or did not care to look into my issue and could not solve my issue. Now, I can set up an appointment and tell my podiatrist exactly what to look for. Unfortunately I have to go through my KP insurance. I feel my days of ankle pain are numbered. read more

If I could give this place 100 stars I would but I'll have to stick with 5 for now =( As soon as I walked in there was this positive vibe and the ladies in the front welcomed me with a wonderful smile! Right away I knew that I'm good hands. They walked me through all the protocols and "In & Outs" (get it? The MRI tube). The tech "I think Robby was his name" was great and made me feel very comfortable and showed me beforehand what to expect. I was offered a cabinet type for all my belongings where to lock all my stuff. When I got in the MRI room he asked me if I prefer earplugs or earphones and of course I chose earphones with classical music. Also they offered me the eye covers lol cause I didn't feel comfortable looking at a tube the whole time. The procedure lasted about 40 min and to tell you the truth it felt like I was in there 5-10 min =) I was so relaxed that almost fell asleep. After everything was set and done got a CD with my results and that was within 10-12 min. How awesome is that!!! It was my first time getting an MRI, as I was referred by my chiropractor's office, for an car accident related issue. Upon arrival I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. I walked into an empty waiting room (always a plus) and a very friendly staff. Once all the documents were singed and dated, one of their techs took me to a room where I could lock up my bag - which I thought was great. He then proceeded to explain the what's/how's of the procedure and offered to play music of my choice. I thought it was nice of them to have a pandora station to give clients choice and ease any fears or anxiety lol. Overall, the procedure lasted 20-25 minutes but the tech made sure to constantly check in and let me know how long to stay still for. Staying in the "tube" itself wasn't bad after all. At the end of my visit he walked out with a CD and a nice little rose as a thank you for patients coming in. I was definitely impressed with their care and service! read more

I am claustrophobic and needed an open MRI. I am a big girl and needed a certain type of device to scan my knee. I attempted another facility and they couldn't accommodate me. I rescheduled to this place and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Finding the office was easy. Signing in was quick. The technician told me what she was going to do and got me set up with a little bit of adjusting to the knee device and "click" I was ready to go in. She then asked what kind of music I liked. I told her. She gave me a button to push if the procedure was too much for me. I was very comfortable and felt safe. The procedure was loud but then the headphones drowned out the knocks and clanks of the machine. 30 minutes went by in the machine and I was done. Most of the time there was setting me up. I was probably there close to an hour tops. I sat in the lobby about 5 minutes for my CD. When they brought out my CD they also brought me a beautiful orange rose. This was totally was unexpected and made my day. Orange just happens to be my favorite color. Thank you for the pleasant experience. read more

I don't typically write reviews but I figured I might as well start. I don't understand why this business has so many bad reviews. I had an appointment with them today that was a self referred appointment and I paid out of pocket and it was a really good experience. I was running a little behind but they were still able to get me in, thankfully. And the front desk staff was very nice and professional. I filled out paperwork prior to the MRI and read through each document and it is all right there in front of your face before you sign it so you know what you're agreeing to. There are no secrets. The two women who were assisting me with my MRI were also extremely nice and accommodating. They walked me through the whole process before getting on to the table and I told them about my anxiety and claustrophobia (because I was in the smaller tube) and they worked really well with me, they helped reassure me and comfort me, and they also let me know at any moment they can stop the exam and get me off the table. They also offered me to reschedule if I needed to. But I decided to force myself to do it because it's been needing to get done. Now don't get me wrong, the machine is loud as hell and really obnoxious. But what MRI machine isn't? And they give you ear plugs and headphones with music if you want. I had my left quad scanned and it took about 25 -30 mins, I had to do five 5 minute scans. I did have to do one more because I moved during one and the imaging was blurry, that was my bad. So we repeated one because the MRI tech suggested it. I don't remember the gals names but they were so very helpful, understanding, and patient with me. I typically get imaging done through my doctors office/hospital and insurance. But this was something that my insurance was not going to cover and my doctors won't order an MRI yet and I'm not willing to wait. So I'm glad I didn't. And honestly some of the reviews on Yelp and Google made me hesitant to go but after I left I wondered what the fuss was all about. I didn't have any issues at all. The paperwork went smoothly, the MRI went well, considering how anxious I was, the payment process was cash only and that was smooth as well, it was $450, they provided me with copies of my paperwork per request and CD with my imaging that I can take to my doctor. They also mentioned the radiologist should have a report by the next day and will be emailing me the results. And I received a hand written receipt for my payment, and I don't understand why anyone would have issues submitting this documentation for taxes or to your insurance company especially if you provide them with your paperwork from the office. And if you were to be audited you have proof from being in their system and a radiology report. So again, I'm not sure what all the fuss was about, I appreciated the experience and I would definitely go back if I needed another self referred MRI and I would recommend others to go as well if you don't have insurance or if you doctor won't order imaging that you are requesting. I think it's the next best option instead of waiting it out and waiting to see if the doctor will in fact order imaging. They do hand you a rose at the end as well, but I said no thank you so they can save it and give it to someone else! I think it's a nice gesture but I didn't feel it was necessary for me to accept the offer. I forgot to take photos, but the facility is really nice inside, clean and organized. My chiropractor referred me here for a cervical scan (neck) related to my motor vehicle accident injury. Their office called me to schedule and that process was pretty simple. A little hard to find among the other businesses in the shared brick building. While filling out the forms I thought it was extremely odd that rather than calling me back up to the counter to get my ID back, the receptionist silently walked over to me in the seated waiting area and put it on top of the clipboard I was writing on. Not my first MRI but definitely had been over 10 years ago since. Not too long of a wait, the male tech showed me where the dressing room was, then to the scan room. I had the Advantage Plus MRI, not the Open MRI. They do provide headphones and I was offered a choice of music to listen to (pre-selected like on airline flights), mostly local radio stations or genre artist albums. The exam usually takes 12-40 minutes, depending on which scanner and what body part(s). They take several images lasting 5 to 10 minutes each. Once positioned on the table, the technologist stays in contact with you both visually and through an intercom from the control area. Relax and lie still, they say, unless you want a blurry picture. Afterward, you get a CD with your scans to provide to your doctor, as well as a report from the radiologist. A different male tech gave me a long-stemmed rose and corporate survey as I was leaving -- so weird. Overall, this was an okay experience, but one of those things you hope you never have to go through again. read more

I'm unsure I'll be able to fully convey over text the amazing experience I had this morning for my lower back MRI. Robbie and Angela were my techs and Sheldon was my front desk guy. They were PHENOMENAL staff. Robbie's energy is especially awesome. Great communication the whole way through. I hope this company does whatever they can to retain them for the long haul. I certainly wish these were my co-workers! The machine itself was pretty cool... when you're a person of size you have worries if equipment can accommodate your frame. I can happily say this accommodated my 370# body and the strap that went over the largest part of my body fit with a little extra wiggle room. I'm so grateful it was an open machine that allowed my head, feet, and side of body to remain exposed. The staff was super compassionate about the overall experience. Some added bonuses were the music selection you got you choose from (I choose Muse). The copy of my images on a CD.... and... a single celephane wrapped rose. Given all the horror stories I've heard from friends about their MRI experiences I went in expecting to come out in tears. Ironically this experience made my morning! I forgot to mention the kick ass scheduler Rachel! My PCP sent my orders out to 2 different places and I had originally scheduled with Mercy out of random selection. Rachel called me on her own promoting... her energy prompted me to ask about pricing and availability.... not only could they get me in the next day (Mercy was a week out) they were also $500 cheaper for my out of pocket expenses! I didn't know an MRI could be a pleasant experience, guess I was wrong! The visit started with them offering me a beverage. Before the MRI they asked me what Pandora station I wanted and made sure I was comfortable and warm. After the MRI they again offered me a beverage. To my surprise, when I left, they gave me a rose! To top it off the staff was super friendly! The office complex is nice and the restrooms were very clean (which they reminded me to do before we began the MRI). I had a 10:00 appointment with my chiropractor who said I should have an MRI done. By 2:30, I received a call to schedule. They gave me an appointment for the very next morning and I was shocked! The scheduler, I think her name was Natalie, was so friendly and positive. I mapped out the directions the night before, but I mistakenly did not account for rush hour traffic. I called enroute and informed them I was running about 10 minutes late, actually ended up being almost 20 minutes late! Because it was an early morning appointment, they were able to still take me. They didn't shame me or make me feel bad. They were very patient and helpful. The MRI tech was incredibly accommodating in trying to make me feel comfortable on the table due to my back pain. I had a choice of music and headphones that blocked out the noise of the machine. There was a short survey at checkout, I was given my disk and ..... a beautiful yellow rose! Beware this company will not provide you a receipt for services for reimbursement. I was involved in a car accident and had injury to my left shoulder. Scheduled the appointment through my UC Davis health provider and they recommended to go to open MRI because it would be less expensive. I made my appointment, they were 35 minutes late. Had the MRI and then I paid for it using a FSA card. The only receipt I got was from the credit card machine. When I tried to submit this for reimbursement for the accident the insurance won't take it because it's not detailed. When I contacted the company to get a detailed receipt they said they're not able to provide that because it violates some sort of insurance agreement. This was not explained to me. But apparently I signed some sort of document stating that I was aware of this. Of course the document I signed was in a stack of 5 or 6 other documents. The young woman who answered the phone kept saying sorry it's our policy sorry we cannot provide that to you at least it's only $450 you're out of pocket and not two grand. read more

I've used Open Advantage twice, both times were excellent experiences, including the opportunity for a bathroom break if needed. All of the staff are very courteous, putting me completely at ease while I'm getting my imaging done. My first appointment, just over a year ago, was completed in the more open machine, which is a far cry from the tube-like machines other imaging facilities have that can make one feel as if enclosed in a tight tunnel creating for me a claustrophobic feeling I didn't like. I could clearly see out of the window and around the room and I felt completely at ease. Back in June, I completed a second scan, this time on my right knee and they now have a better machine that is not quite so open, but still a lot better that the tube-like MRI scanners that DRI and other imaging clinics use. They handed me headphones, after asking what music I'd like to hear, which helps to cover up some of the rather loud noises the scanner makes. They give timely reports of the time left to finish, and times left on the current scan. I'd give Open Advantage an A+ for overall efficiency, courteousness,and they always give the patient a free gift tailored just for us patients. You won't be disappointed if you take the Open Advantage scanning experience! read more

The office was very clean and everyone was very pleasant aside from Mae. Especially Ming and Sheldon. I didn't appreciate how I was handled by Mae at the front desk. She wasn't pleasant at all. She asked to make a copy for of may drivers license and never made a copy, just left it in the copier machine. She also never came back to assist me or return my ID. She was more concerned about talking with Thomas about being a military brat and having throw pillows. Sheldon however picked up the slack, made the copy and also prepared me by telling to me use the restroom, as the MRI might be lengthy. Dropping rating... nearly a month later and the double charge of $350 to our credit card it still not resolved in spite of a commitment to take care of it twice. I'm betting if I dispute both charges they'll be all over it! I was asked to arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork in advance so my appt would be on time. I arrived 20 minutes early or an 11 appt. I waited until 1140 for my MRI. While I waited I could see 3 techs joking around and laughing in a small room visible from the lobby, which made me feel like my time was not seen as valuable. I learned after that was the viewing from for the MRI, however, it might be helpful to close the door to the lobby to keep from giving the impression that "the kids are playing instead of working". The tech was personable and worked with me to settle into a comfortable position for the exam. I left with my exam on a disc and a rose... nice touch. However, the following day I discovered they'd charged my credit card twice for my $350 share of cost. When I inquired I was told I had to send a screenshot of the charges in order for someone to resolve it. I did and it was taken care of within 2 days. Rating a 3 bc obviously there's effort being put into patient service, but given that this facility is more expensive than most, they're not quite there yet. read more

Worst service ever 11-27- 19 I was scheduled on the phone days before with Wendy and one call Medical on the phone. They said be 15 minutes early I was 20 minutes early I had to take medication as it's very painful for me to lay for one MRI and I had two scheduled back to back. Lumbar and cervical they told me you have no appointment we didn't get your paperwork. But no one called me to tell me here I am over a half hour from home medicated Thanksgiving Eve. The costumer service here was beyond amazing. I've had an MRI done before and it was scary and loud. I went in with the same apphrension about doing another MRI. The person at the front desk was polite, friendly, and welcoming. The person who took care of me during the MRI was also welcoming and understanding of my apprehension. They both were professional and kind. I think they really do care for their patients which more than I can say about some other places. My doctor referred me for a scan on my lower back. Scheduling was actually easy - they even called me - and were able to get me in within a couple of days to the Open MRI. And then when I arrived for my appointment it was just straight downhill from there. Front desk reception were two robotic sounding girls that pass you forms and go right back to gossiping about other patients and checking their cell phones. Apparently from other reviews (and the survey I was handed) you're supposed to be offered a beverage and music. I was offered neither, but that's minor in my book. I am sure most people do not read what they sign, but I have a habit of it. So when I am handed a form that acknowledges an opt-in of their privacy policy without even seeing it I ask to see it. You would have thought I asked for their Articles of Incorporation with the deer in headlights look I received from the robots at reception. They even had to call someone to find it. After reading it I can see why. If you actually use this business for an MRI I encourage you to read it- you're probably going to see what I read and decline to opt in. So after about a 20 minute wait, I was escorted back by the male tech and told to "take everything off" and put on a hospital gown in the dressing room. They do provide a locking drawer for your belongings inside the dressing room. I do find it odd, however, that I get walked to the scan room in view of the lobby when I'm in a hospital gown. I am thankful for the previous reviewer that noted you can bring your own CD to listen to because as I was not offered a choice by the staff, when the tech took me into the room I gave him my music to play that I brought. Unfortunately, specifically telling the tech, reception, putting it on intake forms, and even mentioning it to the nice lady who scheduled my appointment that I had never had an MRI before was a fact completely ignored. Nothing was explained. The tech just told me to hop on a bed and started setting up. As my back was killing me I had to ask him for something to elevate my legs. You would think that a place that has to routinely deal with people in pain would have some bedside manner. Not this place. I actually thought an Open MRI was a scan from below and that above you was fully open. So I actually asked the tech, "this is it?" as I tried to get comfortable. He then abruptly slides the bed thing that I'm laying on under what I now know to be the magnet/scanner and it is inches from my face and I feel like I'm in a coffin with my feet sticking out and my sides visible. Then he replies "Now it is" and leaves the room to go into his little booth. Needless to say, I did not do well. People I have sinced talked to tell me about MRI experiences at other facilities where you get headphones, eye masks, and even anti-anxiety meds to ease the experience. I didn't get anything of the kind with Advantage. They did awkwardly try to give me a rose at check-out. Weird. This isn't The Bachelor. You can keep your rose because I won't be coming back or recommending this place. read more

Had 3 MRI scans here and it was a great experience overall considering. Very customer/patient centric - From the front desk and tech staff being professional, accomodating and very helpful to giving the option of having a wide array of music to play during the scan and also providing a cd of the images to you after you're done. The open mri and regular mri machines were much better than those I've experienced in hospitals. read more
