Title: Disappointed - Felt like a scam rather than a dental office I recently visited Carmichael Smiles, and I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience. I went in for what I thought would be a simple tooth extraction. As you can see in my second statement, they charged me a staggering $978.80, even though I have very good insurance. I was shocked by this amount; it felt more like a financial scam than a professional dental service. To make matters worse, a week later, I received another bill for $211. This bill included an $87 charge for a 'consultation' that never actually happened, and no one mentioned this fee to me during my visit. I will absolutely not be returning to this place. This place is so unprofessional. My company told me to walk in on a Tuesday or Wednesday before noon because they go to lunch. I got their an hour early and they didn't want to attend to me until after their lunch. They said they had a 1145 appointment that all of a sudden canceled. So they fit me in last minute. The girls in the front were so rude. You can tell they just wanted to go to lunch. Plus they were talking and laughing about peoples medical exams. I told them about my perception drugs I'm on and also I smoke thc which I have a license for but they failed me. So I called my job and they said to just show my license and it would be fine. So I went back the next day. They filled my documents wrong so I asked them to contact my employer. They didn't seem to happy about that. My fiancé heard them whispering about it. Which is against hippa laws. And one girl was eating chips behind the counter after they just got back from break. They kept asking me if I did other drugs like lsd when they just did my drug test less than 24 hours ago. I had a physical with my main doctor and it was a full physical. The doctor that did mine her literally was done in 5 minutes. No reflex check or anything like that. The only reason I came here was because my job is works with them specifically. If it weren't for that I would have gone to my main doctor or to quest diagnostics. Overall I had a bad esperance. They were not sanitizing or practicing covid rules. The female doctor that works at this location is horrible. If you do not want to treat patients and provide care, why are you even a doctor? I know there are good doctors at these clinics, we just have not run into any at this location the few times we have needed to see a doctor when our regular physician is not available. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Champlain for years. I have seen some of his PA's through the years as well. Yes..it can be crowded and the wait can be a bit. I have never been rushed through an appointment by Dr. Champlain though. He listens. He cares. So do his PA's. So while you're getting cranky because you're waiting to see someone, understand they are giving each patient the time they need. If you don't want to be rushed why should they rush the patient before you? For the record..I love the girls in the office too. Patty too. I've had a wonderful experience here. They are a really busy office. I feel like they do an outstanding job in patient care overall. I appreciate what they do. read more

I waited 3 hours here for a simple 15 minute checkup. I came here around noon time. I only spent 15 minutes with the doctor (John J. Champlin). He was a bit lethargic and unenthusiastic, but I really didn't spend enough time with him to get to know him. And that's perfectly fine for a checkup. What wasn't fine was that I waited almost 3 hours in the clinic after my appointment time. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. It took 20 minutes before I was called to wait in the patient room. It then took another 75 minutes before I actually saw the doctor. By that time, I was already really impatient because I had an important dinner reservation in another city I could not miss. I already told them I was in a rush, but After the 15-minute checkup, I had to wait another hour before they finally gave me the forms to get a blood test at another facility. This clinic almost cost me my engagement proposal dinner that I booked a month in ahead. This place is a mill. They schedule multiple appointments at the same time, which works well for them and is a huge waste of time for the customer. The evidence: I arrived on time for an appointment at the time they opened, and there were ten others in the waiting room all with the same appointment time, waiting to be seen by one physician assistant. I came in today as a walk-in. The waiting room was packed and I expected to have a long wait time. I was in and out of there in less than 45 minutes total. The receptionist was super helpful and nice. This is the only urgent care I will go to as they are always cheerful and have an excellent bedside manner. I recommend this clinic highly. read more

I was sent here for a pre-op through work and I loved it I will be coming back here if needed. First off, the gals in the front are very nice and were quick getting me checked in. The medical assistants, nurses and Dr Amber was so kind and welcoming. I had to get my blood drawn and was only poked once thank you Jessica!! For some people like me this really matters as I hate needles. I recommend this place for a fast quick friendly dr visit! Like a bazillion other people in the world, I don't have health insurance. So when I get sick, I go to Med Center. The office visits are 93 bucks and I am usually in and out under 400 bucks. I suffer from migraines and I am here a few times a year. Most recently I got bit by some asshole spider in my face and had to get a ton of blood work (to make sure the infection didn't spread), shots in my ass (antibiotics and pain meds), and I had to get it lanced and drained. YUM! The doctor I had was legit. Older guy ... Dr. Jesse? He rules. He waived all the rest of my doctor visits for the follow up (I have to go back a few more times to make sure it isn't getting worse). I was going to give it 4 stars because there is this unfriendly nasty girl who is one of the assistants who takes people to a room from the waiting area. She was so rude and nasty to me I almost told her to fk off. At one point she laughed at me about something I asked her because I couldn't hear her mumbly ass. When I went into the room I thought about telling her she was a b*tch but whatever. The doctor made up for it. For anyone without insurance ... go here ... it is worth it. read more

The front receptionist is ssooo short, unfriendly, and made me feel like I was wasting her time. This is my second time here, so I didn't write a bad review at first in hopes I merely caught her on an off day - not so much. She was still unprofessional. What Med Center DOES have to offer is a great doctor - Amanda Emery-Esparza!! This was my second time seeing her, and she is always great. She is professional, understanding, knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and made me feel she was very concerned. She took her time, and I ssooo appreciated all her kindness. Staff is friendly unless you need a problem resolved. At my second visit in a week for the same symptoms of bronchitis. I'm assuming I was misdiagnosed or at least given a bad prognosis. We'll see. Update for about two years later and this still holds true! Dr. Alex is who I always request to see as he's very intelligent and has such a great bedside manner along with talking to you as an equal rather than other urgent cares that can be very condescending. They even helped me work with my schools disability program and to see a pulmonologist by taking the time to print off all, like, 20 times I've had to come in for upper respiratory/throat infections. So I still very highly recommend them! read more

I have been coming here for years. The doctors and PA's are knowledgeable and friendly. Other staff members are friendly. Med center is the best doctors office I have been too. The only downside is waiting for a long period of time to see the doctor or PA. But this is a walk in, no appointment needed office, but it is worth the wait. I've had the misfortune of needing to come here twice this week. First to find out I have shingles then to get stitches in a finger. Both times I was impressed by how friendly everyone here is, I had the same nurse both times and she even remembered me the second time. The PA who stitched me up was friendly and did a great job, the other PA I saw about shingles was super nice and casual. They both talked to me and not down to me which can happen when talking with medical professionals. Hopefully I will not need their services anytime soon, but if I need a doctor in a pinch I know where to go! read more

I just recently chose to go to the Medcenter as my primary doctor office. I have seen Amber, and now Alex. I have to say they are so wonderful I feel like they really care about me and my health. Their staff is also wonderful it's worth a little extra wait. So far so good. I was at the same doctors office for 20 years, and this is the better choices that I've made in a while. I came into the office last Friday for my monthly medication refills. Unfortunately, two of the treatment room computers were down causing a major backlog in seeing patients. Despite waiting several hours (a huge exception) all of the staff made things go as fast as possible under the difficult circumstances. Normally the wait would have not bothered me, but my daughter was graduating from a paralegal program and the staff got me taken care off quickly enough for me to not miss the ceremony. I saw Paul, one of the PAs and he was outstanding as usual. I commend the other staff, but regrettably, I don't know their names. I've had to go here for work relayed injuries and I dread coming here every time. Receptionists are super rude and have attitudes when they talk to you. The wait is always a hour or more. Some doctors didn't tell me full information I needed / wanted to know about my injuries and I had to go else where to find out what was wrong. I have nothing but praise for this place! Doctors offices tend to scare me, but the staff here makes me feel very comfortable. I am consistently impressed by the calming yet professional demeanor of everyone I come into contact with here. The wait time to be seen, as well as the time spent in the exam room, is always much shorter than in other clinics I've been to. The nurses and doctors are willing to take the time to answer questions and explain everything they're doing--from taking blood pressure to the nuances of each test--which makes the whole experience much easier to swallow (I hate going to a doctor's office and getting poked and prodded with little to no explanation of what they're doing, but that doesn't happen here!). Their prices are completely affordable and reasonable, and they offer different forms a payment--helpful for the basically uninsured poor college student like me! I give this Med Center a poor review with the exception of a few staff members. I have health insurance however my friend does not. So we went to this clinic to see about getting some medicine she needed. The receptionist at the front desk, Michelle, is very sweet and helpful. The other receptionist was very short, rude, and unprofessional. A few of the nurses are very nice, too. The nurses took the time to talk to my friend and take her general information/stats. Dr. Amber is very nice and helpful, too. My friend really liked her. However, the office manager, Diana Houston, was extremely rude, condescending, and unprofessional with my friend during our visit. Diana was yelling at my friend in front of everyone in the office and talking down to her like she was an idiot. My friend was asking for clarification about an additional charge and Diana went off on her and was completely rude. All because my friend was trying to get answers. Basically when you go there you pay for the office visit which is $93.00. Then, apparently if they do any extra little thing it costs but they don't tell you that until the end when you are about to leave. Then it was, "oh you have an additional charge of $$$." When asked about the charge and why we weren't informed of the charge before they performed the task - that is when Diana got very defensive and started yelling. My friend specifically asked how much the visit would be and to be informed of any additional charges ahead of time. Well, that did not happen and when she brought that to Diana's attention - it became an argument. Diana then threatened to hold the prescription referrals unless she paid the additional charge. I guess you aren't allowed to ask questions about your bill there without being threatened. If it weren't for Diana and one of the front desk receptionists - we would have given a better review. When my friend called the next day to file a complaint she spoke with another office manager, Patty, and she was unprofessional as well and lied about something she had said to my friend. If you go to this clinic, hopefully you are helped by Michelle and Dr. Amber. Make sure you ask questions ahead of time about everything they will charge you for before you let them do any additional work/procedures. Also, they won't refill a prescription for you over the phone. You have to go back in for another office visit and pay the fee before you can get your medicine refilled. Crazy!!!! All in all, this establishment has some staff who are rude, unprofessional, and untruthful! I would look elsewhere for medical care!!!! read more

Please beware- my family was there today, we told them we all had ringworm, which is highly contagious. After dealing with the rude receptionist- who was obviously annoyed by our presence, we sat in the waiting room for over an hour. I tried to control them, but my kids touched everything they saw. The tech finally got us, she used the same blood pressure cuff for everyone and hen put it away without cleaning to use again. She had the kids sit in multiple chairs, then she was touching the ringworm spots while she took our pulse. I even tried to find a spot that wasn't infected for her, but she pressed right on a spot. We were in the room waiting for the dr. for over 40 min, my kids touched everything in the room. When we finally got a prescription, we were back in the waiting room and the dr. came out and said that after researching the issue he has found it is contagious. Isn't that common knowledge?? And, I told everyone that to begin with- that's why the whole family has it!!!!! Anyway, I'm sure the entire facility is contaminated, and judging from the exam room we were in it isn't cleaned very often, so be careful. And, I suggest you know your diagnosis before you go in. read more

My appointment was at 3 I waited twenty min asked why I saw so many people go ahead the Indian one says your a walk in. I said no I have a three appointment. She looked pissed off I spoke to her and without any apology she says to me not looking at me you well be next. Three more people went back. Finally my appointment nurse is great. Utterly absurd. I am currently STILL sitting in the waiting room here. We came in for a simple prescription refill for my mother and have been here for over two hours now and still waiting. She asked if she had been forgotten and the staff seems to think it's a joke, snickering after they thought she couldn't hear them. And after all this, they're still going to charge us $100 for the visit. Terrible service, irresponsible staff, absurd wait times, ridiculous charges, you're better off going to the emergency room. You'll wait and pay less. This place was great when I was a kid, but it's become a complete joke. read more

Went to see dr. Champlin after my other doc retired and I was appointed here. I had a workers comp back injury for years, but wanted to keep working. My first doc always tried to push for surgery, but I was leery. I never did have surgery. Champlin has now been treating me for years, and has done a great job of keeping me at work. Over the years, I have also seen him for a few other things, often after I got no satisfaction at specialists I had been referred to through my regular insurance. Dr. Champlin usually did come up with a solution where others failed. I think that is because of the type of practice he runs. He sees such a wide variety of cases, and has done so for such a long time, that he has an amazing amount of experience, and seems to be able to quickly assess the situation. I can highly recommend this office, and have to also put in a good word for "the Patty", his workers comp coordinator. She keeps things running smoothly, and is always very helpful whenever anything out of the ordinary comes up. read more
