Don't skip the roos, they are so soft and we got to spend time with mama to be Lulu and baby Onya. They take in animals from various circumstances, including those confiscated from the illegal animal trade, and care for them and find other homes for them like zoos or aquariums. I highly recommend a visit to Wine County Zoological, its perfect for a memorable experience for a special occasion.

The capybara is a large animal, and it was pretty surprising and amusing that the female came over and after having her snacks from us would lay down for belly rubs, just like a dog . The sloths were adorable and the little armadillo was very personable. It was enjoyable holding and admiring him.. The tour is educational, fun and rewarding and the money goes for the upkeep and vet bills of all these wonderful wildlife animals . They are a joy.

They had everything we needed... towels, washcloths, shower amenities. games, snacks, bug spray, plenty of water, feminine products, and the first aid items we ended up needing (for bug bite). We had a first few time zippers in our party, and the group, and at all times, my party felt SAFE! The guides make sure we were ALWAYS attached at all times (several straps) and followed the same process for each zipper, for each line. Also, my party appreciated the first "starter" lines to get us acclimated. For more experienced zippers, we loved the challenges (like touching trees and zipping sideways. This was worth every penny! I totally recommend tipping at the end in the gift shop if you feel so inclined.

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.

The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and the true definition of hospitality. On our return from the rail bikes, I accidentally locked my keys in my car while it was still running with the A/C on. We were the last group there, and the two gentlemen working that day went above and beyond. They stayed an hour after closing while my daughter and I waited for a tow truck to unlock my vehicle. They even offered to let me use their own AAA membership to help with the situation. Not once did either of them seem frustrated or inconvenienced, despite having to stay well past closing. Their patience, generosity, and genuine care meant so much to us. Thank you both for turning a stressful situation into a positive experience.
