We hired Open Hand Remodeling to do an update on our house. It was really important for us to find a partner in this process. This is our first home and thus was our first home renovation. We consider ourselves pretty hands on and design savvy so we were looking for a company that would allow us to have heavy input but also guide us on the realities of construction. We also wanted a partner who understood the importance of retaining the charm and quality of our untouched 1932 Spanish bungalow. We found all of this in Open Hand and in particular with Smadar, our general contractor. Our remodel included: complete rebuild of kitchen, new bath, refinishing the original hardwood floors, buildout of outdoor kitchen, new fence and additional landscaping. We are so happy with how the house turned out! And the process was all in all really pleasant. Smadar had great communication and we always felt in the loop and up to speed. Being that we are really particular about all the design details, we definitely gave Smadar a bit of a headache I'm sure but she always listened to what we wanted and helped us find a way to make it happen! One of my favorite things about Open Hand is that even once the project was finished, and if I noticed something looked amiss Smadar was quick to address it and fix it. I could see a lot of of construction companies washing their hands of the job once it's completed but that was not at all the case with Open Hand.

    Before and after

This was an absolute five star experience for me. I started with a small room addition idea which grew into almost a full home remodel. I initially met with a few contractors and was so turned off by the experience that I almost gave up. Then I spoke with Open Hand and immediately felt the warmth and honesty. I was nervous never having attempted a home project like this and Danny worked with me every step of the way to feel comfortable and fully understand all of the requirements and options. They turned my good ideas into great ones and exceeded my expectations throughout. I had heard nightmare stories from friends about construction usually taking twice as long as you are told, definitely not the case here. Danny was a straight shooter and we finished right on projected time. I can't say enough about his integrity. Good dude! Now I am back in my home and couldn't be happier. It is stunning. Truly beyond my expectation. You will be lucky if they have time to take your project on.

Spectacular! We hired Open Hand to complete our ADU project and could not be happier. Smadar, our project manager, was a dream. She was onsite daily, very communicative, and flexible when working with our budget. We were apprehensive when starting this project as we had never worked with a construction company before. We wanted to feel secure since the project was large. Smadar was able to gain our trust through her amazing work ethic and pleasant, positive attitude. The project was estimated to be completed in 3-4 months and it was complete in that time frame. Her crew was exceptional (plumbing, electric, framing, paint, tile work, etc.). Every city inspection was passed because the work was high quality and done correctly. We could not be happier and look forward to our next project with Smadar at Open Hand Remodeling Company!

    After Smadar and OHR

We completely gutted the inside of our 2000 square foot home and we were fortunate to have Smadar and Open Hand Remodeling by our side. Our home was built in 1942 and the previous owners did not do any major updates. We remodeled our kitchen, knocked down some walls, converted a flat roof into a pitched roof, bathrooms, floors...you name it!!! They told us it would take 3 months and IT TOOK 3 MONTHS. We have heard horror stories about broken promises and we were nervous about choosing the right contractor. We interviewed at least 10 contractors. Each encounter seemed like a speed dating interview and it felt so overwhelming. We saw it all! My wife and I felt a good connection with Smadar from the get-go. We appreciated her attention to detail when she first came to our home. She really listened to us and actually took measurements and notes (unlike most other contractors). Our decision to choose OHR was not based on pricing. We did not want to choose the lowest bidder. On a scale of 1-10, OHR was a 6. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive. Smadar kept us in the loop at all times. Wife and I both work long hours but Smadar would text us pictures of the remodeling progress. We were never left wondering what was going on. She even carved our initials on fresh concrete when we were on vacation. No project gets complete without surprises or issues. Especially a huge project like ours, but Smadar and Danny acted swiftly whenever an issue or problem arose. Thank you Smadar, Danny, and the rest of the OHR crew!!! You made our house into a home. We are very sad that we will no longer receive your daily text messages, emojis, or photo updates.

We found OHR on Yelp, and after meeting several other contractors, we decided to go with OHR because we felt a good connection with Smadar and the quote was reasonable. We had the following work done: living room and foyer addition to the front of the house, install a see-through fireplace, relocate home-garage entrance, legalize existing master suite, and re-roof entire house. Smadar estimated 3 months for the work to be completed, and the work was done in exactly 3 months, even with some weather delays and additional scope. We were most impressed when Smadar had the crew lined up and ready to pour the concrete foundation in immediately after the inspector gave us the green light - just in time for the rain to hit later that evening. We were so sure it was getting delayed until the following week due to the rain! It's so important to have a project manager with good communication, and Smadar was exactly that. Everyone's shocked that our work was completed within the estimated time. OHR is not going to string you along! Having a great project manager and staying on schedule is worth every penny in construction. Overall, we were pleased with the work and would definitely hire OHR and Smadar again for future projects!

I'll start off by saying that my partner and I purchased our home five years ago, very well knowing that it was a MAJOR fixer-upper. Nothing-but-dirt front yard, asphalted backyard, old plumbing, old electrical, and a leaky roof, just to mention a few of the issues we knew of. Over the past five years we've worked with at least three different "contractors," always friends of friends, or referrals of coworkers, that we chose because we were always choosing the lowest priced bid. Then we finally came to meet Essi from Open Hand Remodeling while getting bids for our bathroom remodel. From the beginning, the professionalism demonstrated by Essi was very much appreciated, and his courteous manner in handling all of our issues and questions was absolutely impeccable. It was a breath of fresh air to meet a REAL contractor that stood behind what he said. In the past we had always received bids from other "contractors" that would change constantly throughout the construction process of whatever project they were working on at the time. Essi gave us a firm bid and stuck to it the entire time, working within our budget to achieve the bathroom of our dreams. Although this was not the lowest bid, his extensive knowledge and very evident experience in remodels won us over. We have learned that in this home repair/renovation business, the saying that you get what you pay for is truer than ever. A full bathroom remodel that included demo, framing, extensive tilework, plumbing, electrical, painting and all the perfect finishing touches was done with so much care and detail that both my partner and I were blown away by how easy and painless the entire process was from beginning to end. Essi took care of all the details, kept us in the loop on the progress and informed us of all timelines. They were very careful to work around our home and made sure to tape and seal everything up to keep the dust from flying all over the place, which we were very happy about. The design choices we had previously made were enhanced GREATLY with Essi's recommendations and in the end we got a bathroom that I could literally die in. It's GORGEOUS, functional and absolutely a pleasure to use - which we do every single day. We have already begun other jobs with Essi around the house and will DEFINITELY be recommending him and Open Hand Remodeling to all of our friends and family for their remodeling needs.

We hired Open Hand Remodeling to convert our garage to a studio space at the recommendation of a friend and we were so glad we did! Smadar was the project manager and an absolute pleasure to work with. It ended being a bigger job than we thought because of structural issues with the garage, but Smadar kept us informed and in the loop every step of the way. We had to do some extensive retrofitting, remove a large tree that was causing structural damage, and level out the entire structure (due to the tree root damage) and Smadar brought in an engineer to asses and make sure everything was done to code. We added a patio door and a window, insulation and a mini split AC unit. The whole crew was great - detail oriented, through, and organized. Smadar was on site and sent us texts at the end of every work day to keep us updated. I honestly expected the remodel to be more stressful (especially in these covid times, where delays are expected) but everything went so smoothly from start to finish. Both Smadar and John at the OHR office were communicative, responsive, and always easy to reach by text or email to answer any questions or address concerns. We couldn't be happier with the final result and I'd be happy to recommend OHR to anyone - looking forward to working with them again the next time we have a project!

Wonderful experience with Zaff and his team. We had two rooms demo'd, refloored and painted within in a week. His team was polite, clean and punctual. Very pleased with the result. Zaff was a gentleman and extremely responsive, he did some helpful research and adapted to changes like a champ. Will work with them again.

After - a Toto toilet with heated seat! Heaven!!

We've interviewed a few home builders, checked out their work and reputation, and eventually decided to go with Gil, Oren, and the whole team of Go Home Builders. Working with the insurance was a pain, luckily Gil had experience working with Allstate insurance before, and he helped us a lot getting the money we needed to rebuild our home. The planning process took a bit longer than what we initially planned for. The county of LA took their sweet time approving our plans. Fortunately, after 2 sets of revisions we were fully approved. The construction wasn't bad at all, they had plenty of guys working on our home at the same time. The only time there was no work, was on inspection days. The finishes was one thing that was extremely important for us. My wife and I are detail oriented and wanted to make sure we're choosing the right company to do the finish work correctly. All I can say is that they exceeded my expectations. Overall the beginning of the process was extremely emotional challenging, but the whole team of Go Home Builders made us feel like we're not alone. My wife and I are very grateful for them. I had a rough vision in mind for fitting a lot into a relatively small space, but wanted to see the options rendered so I could better make the big layout and design decisions. Alexis was very patient and super helpful in mocking up each iteration until we locked in the final design. Once it was time to actually break ground, Gil, Oren, Uriel, and the rest of the team were really responsive and always available by text. Unlike previous contractors we've worked with, they usually gave us an idea of what was happening the next day/week and who to expect onsite. The first ~70% of the project went really smoothly and far exceeded my expectations. Demo, framing, rough plumbing, and electrical all largely went without a hitch. We ran into some problems towards the end around communication, timeline, and subcontractor oversight -- which led to more delays when someone punctured our new in-wall toilet tank and flooded both the bathroom and bedroom. We know every construction job runs into challenges so we weren't bent out of shape by it, and we did appreciate that GHB took full responsibility for fixing the issues. By and large we were really impressed by most of their subcontractors, especially the very professional and considerate plumbing, electrical, and tiling teams! After living with our new bathroom for a while now, we can definitely say it was worth the wait, and such a huge improvement over our previous dysfunctional layout. Thanks to GHB for their great service, amazing attitude, attention to detail, and for bringing the bright, colorful bathroom of my dreams to life!

What was so wonderful about this new shower was the expert person who worked tirelessly on tiling this shower. He incorporated my ideas to use decorative tile in certain places and always gave excellent suggestions on tile placement. To me, this shower is a work of art. Zenith Builder promoted the concept that the overall bathroom would be enhanced even though their work was focused on the shower. Their crew painted the entire bathroom instead of doing patch work repairs. The result is a beautiful completed bathroom. I am very pleased with the work performed by Zenith Builder and would use them again or recommend them to others. Their professional crew and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. This project was completed in a timely manor and it is a joy to have a spacious, lovely working shower instead of a falling apart bathtub.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. There were many contractors with high Yelp ratings, but we found the majority of the ones we spoke with were outrageously expensive and beyond our budget. The few that were within our budget felt untrustworthy, based on conflicting information/advice other contractors had given us. Then, with met with Winpoint's owner, Jun Wang. At our initial consultation, Jun patiently spent a fair amount of time learning about the vision we had for the new kitchen. The communication was clear. His demeanor and conduct were professional. He explained what he could and couldn't (or shouldn't) do. At the end of that consultation, he submitted a quote that I thought was (finally) a good value and affordable. He said our project was going to take six weeks. When all was said and done, it took exactly six weeks to complete. No excuses for why they couldn't finish on time, despite whatever roadblocks they dealt with along the way. I appreciated that he pushed hard enough to stay on schedule. In the end, he did what he said he would do - there were no broken promises. That was important to me. Winpoint is a smaller company. It doesn't have all of the overhead larger companies have, which means, in his case, that lower operational costs get passed onto the customer. If you need something, you deal directly with Jun, not a telephone menu from hell, not a phone operator, apprentice or assistant project manager. While he did have other concurrent remodeling jobs, I found Jun to be responsive to our needs, questions and concerns and never felt we had to wait in line to get something done. Jun is very good at scheduling. We had no bottlenecks during our six weeks construction period. With the exception of cabinet and countertop installation, Jun does not use subcontractors. Electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, tile installation, window installation, etc. are all completely within his control, which basically means that anything that doesn't go perfectly can (and does) get fixed by his employees right away and, more importantly, to his (and our) satisfaction. All of his employees are very good at their respective areas of expertise. Any minor imperfections were dealt with and rectified in a timely manner. Overall, I can recommend Winpoint for your kitchen or remodeling project. If you are looking for a good value and quality work, Jun is your man.

Karin easily worked within our budget while also dealing with the insurance company every step of the way. This really mattered to us. WIC Constructions Services employs a full team. Karin was on site often, but her team worked very well she was on other jobs. They take care of everything from drywall to plumbing to painting. I should note that my wife and I happen to have a close family friend who is an electrician and we were insistent that whatever contractor we worked with would work with our electrician. Karin couldn't have been more accommodating and worked well with a subcontractor who wasn't her regular electrician. Just as importantly, she understood that it was important to us that our friend handle the rewiring and other electrical needs and she willingly worked with our person. We ended up with a whole new house (the inside anyway) and we couldn't be more pleased. Karin had great ideas on designs and worked really hard to create something that was our style. It was really important to us that she get to know us and get to know our taste and she did that. At the same time, Karin had great ideas and suggestions - she knew so much more than we did about remodeling and because of the fire and the deadlines imposed by the insurance company we weren't able to just take as long as we wanted to make decisions. At some level, drywall is drywall. Installing cabinets is installing cabinets. Putting in tiles is putting in tiles. Unless you end up working with someone crooked, any good contractor can do the basics. (Though I have to say, Karin and her team had wonderful attention to detail.) What sets Karin and WIC Construction Services apart is the humane and supportive way you will be treated. Yes, Karin has a great eye for design and detail and her team is talented and easy to work with. But just as important is you will find yourself working with someone who not only knows her stuff, but someone who really cares about you and your project. We can't recommend Karin and WIC Construction highly enough. Five stars.
