Yelp knows all the great places. I had a meeting in a nearby office building and was starving so I checked Yelp and this place popped up with great ratings. It is hidden in the back of an office building on the first floor but definitely worth checking out. Great prices and freshly made everything. A big selection of sandwiches, salads and more for breakfast and lunch. There are also a variety of snacks and beverages to choose. I got a Caprese salad with grilled chicken and it was delicious. I loved that there were Haden mangoes for sale too, which are the best kind to eat. Definitely coming back for a sandwich soon. read more

Two people in our group got breakfast burritos which the owner was able to make meatless for a member of our group who has a meat allergy. The last person in our group got the breakfast nachos. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS PLACE IS that almost everything is made in house, he uses biodegradable containers, everything is fresh, and the food is less expensive than the majority of restaurants in the area. You are missing out if you do not try food from this "Cafe". I put quotes because the owner cooks all of his food and makes salads better than 95% of the restaurants in Boca Raton. So far I have eaten the following: * Caesar salad with chicken (multiple times) - he makes the Caesar dressing, and it comes with a bunch of toppings on the side. AMAZING. Also, the chicken is the best I've ever had accompanying a salad... I'm not kidding. * Quesadilla and black beans and rice, with side of chipotle sour cream. DELICIOUS. Honestly, everything from the beans, to the rice, to the quesadilla is flawless. *Jerk Chicken with Brussels Sprouts and Jerk Chicken with zucchini - WIN!! Everything was cooked to perfection. I love my veggies and he cooks them perfectly! * Curry Chicken Wrap - my co worker ordered this and I ate half. NO WORDS. Seriously. I do not know how the owner can master SO many things, but I am proud this restaurant is in my office building. There are tables to eat at if you want to. The owner also sells protein cookies, dozens of kinds of chips, drinks, everything from different kinds of milk, to energy drinks, to teas, smoothies, HOMEMADE desserts, breakfast, etc. To the owner, I sincerely apologize for taking this long to review. I declare... HIDDEN GEM. This location is kind of hard to find but it is inside of a business building in military. You should walk in and is like a cafeteria which is on the left from when you enter. Offers dine in and out of the building nice area to sit and eat. Few tables outside and inside the small cafeteria too. Now to the important part, the experience. Oh my goodness. We ordered 2 cubano sandwiches, a cortado coffee and a natural orange juice. All for 19.89.... THE PRICES ARE INCREDIBLE CHEAP, SUPER CHEAP EATS. My coffee was excellent, smooth and with that milk foam on top. The orange juice felt smooth , natural and fresh. The main dish, our Cubano sandwiches were so good I can't explain. Is one of the best sandwiches I've ever tried in my entire life for just 8 dollars (you also get a free side such as sweet plantains, salad, sweet baked potatoe and much others) all included in this 8 dollars... what a deal!. The sandwich was crunchy, soft and the cheese melted. You could feel the ham entirely working with that pork leg and mayo with mustard. This was super delicious. I would definitely come back for more. The cafeteria is small, but the service ladies are gentle and super nice. They explain you everything with a smile. Also they talk Spanish so way better. In addition, they sell a full array of sandwiches, snacks, and small meals. I keep coming back for their warm welcome and their outstanding spinach empanadas and homemade soup. I'm so happy this place opened! Their food has everyone in my office salivating. I couldn't decide what to get since everything on their menu sounded so good, so I made my own plate with the Rotisserie Chicken breast, black beans and seasoned brown rice. Simple and healthy, but there was nothing simple about the flavors.... The chicken was perfectly roasted with a crispy seasoned skin. Really flavorful and juicy, but not at all greasy. It even felt guiltless eating the skin ;). It came with a creamy salsa verde sauce that had a nice flavor and a bit of a kick. The seasoned brown rice was great. It looked like yellow rice, but it's because of the seasonings they use. Those black beans ... good beans say a lot about a Spanish restaurant, and these were out-of-this-world delicious. My coworkers were beyond happy about the black bean burger and the tacos, both which I can't wait to try. It's so refreshing to see a place like this with so many healthy AND flavorful options open in this area. What's even more exciting about the Open Kitchen Cafe is that everything is made in-house. Their proteins are farm-raised without growth hormones. Also, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions were good enough to have second lunch... but I was naughty and ate it all in one seating. Thought I'd try something new. Really hard to find as there are no signs or designated parking. I just looked for the address and then spotted the tables at the entrance. Very nice family run the place. Atmosphere reminds me of los bocados but in an office rather than their a gas station. The menu is extensive and inexpensive but it's definitely a to go place. Update 10/7/19 I ordered delivery and got a side of Mac and cheese... I have had their Mac and cheese before... I received KRAFT MAC N CHEESE!!!! I have a love hate relationship with this place. When their items are good they are a 10 but if the item changes or just taste blah it's a zero. The consistency across the menu is like playing lotto. Kraft Mac n cheese... seriously... Initial review: (*the apologized and I still eat from there when I'm working in the office.) They completely forgot about me. I am so disappointed. I am a regular at open kitchen cafe. I called in my lunch delivery order at 3pm its 5:20pm no one came or called my cell. I was a regular but it's going to take a lot to get me to ever order from there ever again. I think Google maps is out to get me. I almost died turning into the Plaza with the usual "Turn left now." SCREEEECH. In the plaza, I noticed the bagel place 5 times and almost gave up on open kitchen before, at last, the sign above the walkway caught my eye. At 11 am, it's fairly quiet. Everyone was friendly and greeted me as I walked from the door down to the register. I ordered the coconut oatmeal ($3) and the chicken salad wrap($7), which comes with a pasta salad. The food was ready in less than 5 minutes. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach, I realized a bit too late. The smallest order of oatmeal is still quite large and I ended up scarfing it down and becoming full before even getting to the wrap. Get it. It is as delicious as everyone says it is. It's a bit goopier than how I usually make my own at home, but created a texture similar to rice pudding which I can never complain about. The only critique is that I wish they put the toasted coconut on top instead if mixing it in to create some kind of crunch. The few bites I had of the lunch plate were really good. The wrap has chicken, curry mayo and a ton of greens. The pasta salad was pretty dope. I would have personally added a lot more curry, but I think they were smart to play it safe with the level of spice they used. Overall, if I'm ever early for work and want a well priced, reliably delicious meal, Open Kitchen Cafe will be at the top of my list. read more

I have been digging new places around my work and this one got me by my stomach! Small and simple restaurant, but so much food character! Chef Carlos does it all by himself with helpers to serve his great food. Their menu is simple with soups, salads, sandwiches, and lunch platters. I've been choosing the platters because it allows you to choose two sides and it's around the same price as the sandwiches without a side. I already tried their slow cooked pork (great seasoning), their steak (nicely chargrilled), and their falafel (the spices are the perfect combination). Their sides hold my heart: the fried yucca is just divine: Soft and crispy all at once! Their cooked veggies are just like my mom's: simple and tasty! Service is simple and fast and Chef Carlos always wants to know if you liked your meal and if not why. He will come to your table to find out why you didn't enjoy his food! Really bummed about our disappointing experience given all of the good reviews. NOTE: This is a to-go place, not a sit-down restaurant. Hubby and I stopped in for an early lunch today at 11:05am. We were the only ones in the place. We were welcomed warmly and were asked to sit anywhere. After perusing the menu we started to order, but with one hiccup and another disappointment. Hiccup -- I asked for no sausage on my breakfast burrito, and asked if I could have guacamole instead. I was told they could do that, but there would be an upcharge. Really? I don't eat pork, and rather than purchasing an item that includes pork, they wanted to charge me for guacamole instead? Since when is a dollop of guacamole more expensive than chorizo? Instead, I ordered a basic breakfast sandwich with spinach and tomato on a brioche bun. Disappointment -- When our orders arrived to our table, they arrived in to-go containers. They'd rather add more trash to our landfills and ruin our environment than wash the dishes? It was so odd since our water was in hard, plastic cups and we could see the dishwasher. It's CHEAPER to wash dishes than purchase styrofoam and plastic to-go containers. After our order was delivered, no one returned to check to see if we needed anything making me think this is really a to-go place, and not even designed for dining inside despite the booths. Even though the experience began with table service, it ended much differently with no service at all. We even paid up at the counter, not at our table, so it was all very odd. Decided to drop by Open Kitchen and grab a nice vegetarian lunch, and I'm glad we did. After looking over the menu, we ordered the Falafel and the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich. To accompany this, we each had a shake. Mine had Kale, Quinoa and Hemp Seed in it, and it was truly badass. I think it's called a #8 or #9. The food was good. The Falafel here is better described (as it is in the menu) as chickpea fritters. They are good but not what you would expect especially if the majority of you experience with falafel is kosher. I thought it was a nice plate. The plates come with a side or salad. Carlos is the guy who runs it and cooks there. He and his wife were very nice and accommodating. I ordered lunch from here today. A $12 prosciutto sandwich with arugula, roasted pepper, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, pesto & balsamic glaze. I'm disappointed. Not a single roasted pepper on my sandwich. The tomato was so overripe it was mush I had to scrape off. There was fresh mozzarella but the amount of it was so small it was ridiculous. The spinach quiche was a whole small quiche (about 4.5 inches across and at least an inch deep, and was delicious - for only $5! (I was only expecting a slice of quiche for that price.) It came with a small cup of oatmeal, which was delicious as well. The hashbrown patties were a bit overcooked for my tastes, but I was so full from the quiche and oatmeal, it didn't bother me at all. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito, 2 egg omelet with artichoke hearts and chicken sausage, meat and chicken homemade empanadas. Omelet was perfectly cooked- no brown on it which is a pet peeve of mine. The chef was super sweet. All the food was cooked to order and prices were extremely reasonable. it takes a certain amount of fuckery to get me to the point to write a shitty review. i honestly hate doing them, and when they do happen, i try to give constructive criticism. i gave this place 3 tries. 1st time- ordered a chicken sandwich. the sandiwhch was hot and cold, like itd been in the microwave and but not rotated. the chicken was dried out. im not really sure how you dry it out that much. my only guess is age. i gave them the benefit of the doubt, and said i'd try it again. today- chicken quesadilla. it was ready.... absurdly quickly. i figured this place does pre-fires for the lunch rush (pre fire is when popular items are cooked ahead of order in anticipation of a rush. common items might be grilled chicken breast, meatballs, etc). i open up the clamshell up..... to a questionable and disappointing plate. the tortilla was harder than crispy pork skin. the chicken.... surprise!!!!!!! more dried out than the last time. the cheese was cold melted. imagine the cheese scraping from a grilled cheese, that you made two day ago. it's lost its color, its actually starting to perspire. thats what i got. the rice and beans were actually 1 solid piece of rice/bean ball-ness. i walked back in and spoke to the counter. they agreed to make a new one. 3rd time.... 15 minutes after the 2nd..... these fuckers literally threw it in the microwave and reheated it. like why? how fucking cheap are you? you were absolutely not busy. between the 3 employees playing on their phone, and the 4 people that walked in, you had enough time to nuke the fucker, and enough time to lie to me and say it's new. i mean, maybe it's me, it probably is. what could i possible expect from an office kitchen boating a menu with Biscuits and gravy, paninis, burritos, salads, and smoothies. god forbid you fucking execute one dish right.... or actually serve what you were paid to serve. Although the little plaza has many lunch options, Open Kitchen Cafe sticks far out when it comes to rating... and it's not a lie While I was eating, I overheard the owner mentioning to one of the to-go patrons that they make everything in house, fresh each morning. They would love to have more business but they don't want to give in on quality. I had the chicken gyro and for such a simple sandwich, I was blown away by flavors. The bread, the juiciness of the chicken, the tzaziki, everything blended well into one amazing food medly The service is super friendly and the chefs are obviously open for a conversation. Love this place! Our whole office orders from here at least once a day. They have a huge selection of food and always are so happy to serve us! I usually deal with carlos on the phone and he always remembers me! He is very sweet and double checks my order every time. Elliot is usually my delivery driver and always has a smile on his face even if he has been at our office for the 3rd time. They always have a quick delivery as well (we aren't far though). Today they provided bread pudding for their appreciation for our office and I couldn't feel more greatful! Makes me want to go to the store to say hi! read more

Truly I was quite impressed going here for the first time. It was a little place that somewhat scared me at first but I gotta say it was satisfying. It tasted really good the staff was very nice. One man kept coming over asking if we needed anything and how the good was which made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. I order the breakfast burrito and the flavor at the top of it was amazing and the threw the rest away. I couldn't really enjoy it because it had I thought the chorizo was made out of pork sausage in it which I was aware so the only way I knew cause research the word chorizos and it was a mix (thank heavens I didn't eat it). But I love the black beans with egg white it was a good combination and the chipotle sauce is not spicy so I enjoyed a portion of it.
