My delicious jerk chicken and veggies and salad!!!

Okay, so I need to finally review this AMAZING restaurant. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS PLACE IS that almost everything is made in house, he uses biodegradable containers, everything is fresh, and the food is less expensive than the majority of restaurants in the area. You are missing out if you do not try food from this "Cafe". I put quotes because the owner cooks all of his food and makes salads better than 95% of the restaurants in Boca Raton. So far I have eaten the following: * Caesar salad with chicken (multiple times) - he makes the Caesar dressing, and it comes with a bunch of toppings on the side. AMAZING. Also, the chicken is the best I've ever had accompanying a salad... I'm not kidding. * Quesadilla and black beans and rice, with side of chipotle sour cream. DELICIOUS. Honestly, everything from the beans, to the rice, to the quesadilla is flawless. *Jerk Chicken with Brussels Sprouts and Jerk Chicken with zucchini - WIN!! Everything was cooked to perfection. I love my veggies and he cooks them perfectly! * Curry Chicken Wrap - my co worker ordered this and I ate half. NO WORDS. Seriously. I do not know how the owner can master SO many things, but I am proud this restaurant is in my office building. There are tables to eat at if you want to. The owner also sells protein cookies, dozens of kinds of chips, drinks, everything from different kinds of milk, to energy drinks, to teas, smoothies, HOMEMADE desserts, breakfast, etc. To the owner, I sincerely apologize for taking this long to review. You deserve this! Thank you for feeding me every week!

I declare... HIDDEN GEM. This location is kind of hard to find but it is inside of a business building in military. You should walk in and is like a cafeteria which is on the left from when you enter. Offers dine in and out of the building nice area to sit and eat. Few tables outside and inside the small cafeteria too. Now to the important part, the experience. Oh my goodness. We ordered 2 cubano sandwiches, a cortado coffee and a natural orange juice. All for 19.89.... THE PRICES ARE INCREDIBLE CHEAP, SUPER CHEAP EATS. My coffee was excellent, smooth and with that milk foam on top. The orange juice felt smooth , natural and fresh. The main dish, our Cubano sandwiches were so good I can't explain. Is one of the best sandwiches I've ever tried in my entire life for just 8 dollars (you also get a free side such as sweet plantains, salad, sweet baked potatoe and much others) all included in this 8 dollars... what a deal!. The sandwich was crunchy, soft and the cheese melted. You could feel the ham entirely working with that pork leg and mayo with mustard. This was super delicious. I would definitely come back for more. The cafeteria is small, but the service ladies are gentle and super nice. They explain you everything with a smile. Also they talk Spanish so way better. The have no sugar options and make everything how you order. Come and try, because this is super worthy. Overall, 5 stars oh yeah. Suit yourself with the photos!

I'm so happy this place opened! Their food has everyone in my office salivating. I couldn't decide what to get since everything on their menu sounded so good, so I made my own plate with the Rotisserie Chicken breast, black beans and seasoned brown rice. Simple and healthy, but there was nothing simple about the flavors.... The chicken was perfectly roasted with a crispy seasoned skin. Really flavorful and juicy, but not at all greasy. It even felt guiltless eating the skin ;). It came with a creamy salsa verde sauce that had a nice flavor and a bit of a kick. The seasoned brown rice was great. It looked like yellow rice, but it's because of the seasonings they use. Those black beans ... good beans say a lot about a Spanish restaurant, and these were out-of-this-world delicious. My coworkers were beyond happy about the black bean burger and the tacos, both which I can't wait to try. It's so refreshing to see a place like this with so many healthy AND flavorful options open in this area. What's even more exciting about the Open Kitchen Cafe is that everything is made in-house. Their proteins are farm-raised without growth hormones. Also, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions were good enough to have second lunch... but I was naughty and ate it all in one seating. Tell everyone you know to come here, you won't be left hungry!

I think Google maps is out to get me. I almost died turning into the Plaza with the usual "Turn left now." SCREEEECH. In the plaza, I noticed the bagel place 5 times and almost gave up on open kitchen before, at last, the sign above the walkway caught my eye. At 11 am, it's fairly quiet. Everyone was friendly and greeted me as I walked from the door down to the register. I ordered the coconut oatmeal ($3) and the chicken salad wrap($7), which comes with a pasta salad. The food was ready in less than 5 minutes. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach, I realized a bit too late. The smallest order of oatmeal is still quite large and I ended up scarfing it down and becoming full before even getting to the wrap. Get it. It is as delicious as everyone says it is. It's a bit goopier than how I usually make my own at home, but created a texture similar to rice pudding which I can never complain about. The only critique is that I wish they put the toasted coconut on top instead if mixing it in to create some kind of crunch. The few bites I had of the lunch plate were really good. The wrap has chicken, curry mayo and a ton of greens. The pasta salad was pretty dope. I would have personally added a lot more curry, but I think they were smart to play it safe with the level of spice they used. Overall, if I'm ever early for work and want a well priced, reliably delicious meal, Open Kitchen Cafe will be at the top of my list.

To-go containers even when dining in. Very disappointing.

Really bummed about our disappointing experience given all of the good reviews. NOTE: This is a to-go place, not a sit-down restaurant. Hubby and I stopped in for an early lunch today at 11:05am. We were the only ones in the place. We were welcomed warmly and were asked to sit anywhere. After perusing the menu we started to order, but with one hiccup and another disappointment. Hiccup -- I asked for no sausage on my breakfast burrito, and asked if I could have guacamole instead. I was told they could do that, but there would be an upcharge. Really? I don't eat pork, and rather than purchasing an item that includes pork, they wanted to charge me for guacamole instead? Since when is a dollop of guacamole more expensive than chorizo? Instead, I ordered a basic breakfast sandwich with spinach and tomato on a brioche bun. Disappointment -- When our orders arrived to our table, they arrived in to-go containers. They'd rather add more trash to our landfills and ruin our environment than wash the dishes? It was so odd since our water was in hard, plastic cups and we could see the dishwasher. It's CHEAPER to wash dishes than purchase styrofoam and plastic to-go containers. After our order was delivered, no one returned to check to see if we needed anything making me think this is really a to-go place, and not even designed for dining inside despite the booths. Even though the experience began with table service, it ended much differently with no service at all. We even paid up at the counter, not at our table, so it was all very odd. Bottom line -- We won't return based on this poor experience.

Normally anything I order from this restaurant is delicious and I have been a fan since they had their dine-in location. However today my office ordered in from open kitchen and I decided to try something new. Foolish me for thinking I could get good (or even decent bbq) from a non bbq place. I do not recommend getting their smoked beef brisket. It was terrible! Not only was the meat dry but it also tasted old and stale. You could tell they tried to dump a ton of bbq sauce on it to help but nothing was saving that lifeless brisket. Next time I'll stick to what I know with this place and not venture out. Total waste of $11 read more

Two Thumbs Up must try breakfast! I was on the fence about trying this hole-in-the-wall nestled between Dunkin Donuts and Palm Beach Bagel. In short, don't expect to be waited on hand and foot, but you will have one of the best breakfast in Boca. Home fries were best in the area and my breakfast burrito was nothing short of perfection - and I live in LA which has best bfast burritos. GIVE IT A TRY. Oh, and bonus is incredible coffee. read more

Read a few reviews and came to eat what may have been the best breakfast I've ever had. Get the breakfast burrito with guacamole and sit yourself down and eat the tastiest meal. Coffee was fresh with whipped milk instead of just cream... outstanding. read more

I recently tried Open Kitchen Cafe for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Their menu is not huge, but has some nice variety. I had the grilled portobello sandwich and it was very tasty. Their fresh-brewed iced tea was delicious. The service was very quick and the employees were friendly and careful when preparing my order for takeout. They also told me that they deliver, which is great! The atmosphere is nothing special - the decor is plain (but clean), with one row of booths down the side of the narrow restaurant. The food and service, however, was excellent and I look forward to going back. read more

The things that I love about this place are probably the reasons others won't even notice it walking by: the underrated sign, plain decor, and fluorescent feel of a good ol' neighborhood eatery complete with booths and plasticware. Here there are no shiny LED screens, no fake branding, no please-all heavily salted and sugared meals. Just good food and good people, down to the smallest details. read more

OMG!!! I am hooked and in love with this place. This is my second time having lunch at Open Kitchen and I am so happy. I am rating them an A+. A group of friends wanted to go to Five Spice for lunch but when we got there, it was crazy busy! Too many people and not enough seats. We decided to go walk over to Palm Beach Bagel instead. On our way there, I asked the group if we can try Open Kitchen Café. The place looked super clean and they had a nice group of people inside with some tables still open. They all agreed and couldn't stopped talking about how happy they were about my suggesting this place. As you walk through the doors you hear a warm welcome from the people working there. Their work culture is super friendly and you can tell that they take pride in everything they do. The food is fresh, healthy with no hormones and is also affordable. I tried their yucca fries which were AMAZING!!! I also had their chicken salad wheat wrap. They actually remembered me as soon as I walked into the doors the second time I passed by. I can't wait to try more of their delicious menu offerings. They are a hidden jewel! read more

This place is a wonderful little hidden gem right next to some bagel breakfast place that we've also visited. Open Kitchen Cafe was empty the day we ventured through the doors. It's an absolute shame when considering the fact that the bagel place, which is admittedly a lot bigger and more visible, was packed. Although extremely simple inside, the food and service beats their neighbor's by a landslide. It seems to be family owned and the owners/cooks couldn't have been more friendly. I can't remember everything we ordered but I'll let you know what I can recall. I had the huevos rancheros. Incredible. And huge. My girlfriend ordered the coconut oatmeal. I don't even like oatmeal...after tasting hers, I ordered my own bowl, and finished it. You have to try it. Oh, and the coffee, while not the best, is much better than the colored water I had when I was next door. I don't mean to hate on the bagel place. It's just that I hate when a small family owned establishment that offers true quality loses business just because it's small and doesn't look up to par from the outside. Opt for the Open Kitchen Café the next time you're looking for a quick, casual but delicious breakfast or lunch in the area. read more

Came here a few weeks ago with a couple co-workers. We're always looking for good lunch spots around town and this one stood out with a big menu with healthy items. 2 of us got the Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich (pita) which was recommended by the cashier, and 1 got a chicken plate with 2 sides. The Chicken Souvlaki was massive and delicious. It had big chunks of tasty, tender chicken and was served with pasta salad that was light & flavorful. Co-worker who got the chicken plate really enjoyed hers and it came with a yummy dipping sauce. The cafe was clean, the staff said hello and goodbye to everyone passing through, asked how our meals were and gave suggestions. It's smushed in between a lot of different lunch spots, but is not to be missed...we will definitely be back! read more

Honestly when I first came to the door for open kitchen I almost walked away. I am so glad we didn't! As we were turning away a woman was leaving and told us she also almost walked away but that if we came in we wouldn't regret it. I am so glad she stopped is because It was one of the best and healthy breakfasts we have ever had! We both had fresh fruit and veggie smoothies. And we also had the heuevos rancheros and the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I highly suggest either of these for brunch! There is only one guy taking orders, cooking food and making deliveries but the wait is completely worth it! Go here and support a great restraunt that focuses on using wholistic ingredients as well as having that home cooked feel. Also must try the coconut oatmeal! Literally the best oatmeal you will ever have! read more

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The owner Carlos and his family are so friendly and service the best, freshest, most delicious food around. The coconut oatmeal is TO DIE FOR! I love the individual sized breakfast quiche, so flavorful, filling and the perfect size. Everything is made fresh each day and heated to order. Open Kitchen Cafe is a great place for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. While the menu is shorter than most, it boasts extensive vegetarian options from tofu tacos to roasted sweet potato wraps. On my most recent visit, I almost passed by the building. There are no neon letters or guys twirling signs. The whole place is sleek and simple. There are plenty of booths for indoor seating during the hot summer months. The owner, Carlos, clearly loves what he does -- cooking. He's passionate about his place and takes great pride in the food he serves, from the ingredients he uses to the service he provides. The whole menu focuses on clean, healthy eating. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find such an extensive meat-free menu. I tried the portobello mushroom sandwich and was thrilled with the flavor and the quality. I also tasted the falafel, which was equally delicious. I can't wait to return to try the tofu tacos! I highly recommend this place, especially to vegetarians in the Boca area. $12 for grilled chicken and two sides. The chicken was smaller than 4 oz the fries were cold and soggy. The macaroni was hard and lacked flavor. The establishment looked unclean and the cashier, were more poised looking at their phones than taking the order. I will not go back there again. read more

I ordered the Spinach Quiche and it was horrible!!! I've ordered from here several times however this dish wasn't good and the crust was dry. I called the restaurant to see if they can give me another order and the lady on the phone and manager was extremely RUDE!!!! She wouldn't let me speak to the manager and told me he's just like her and will not accommodate my order. I hear the manager in the background speaking Spanish refusing to get on the phone saying he's too busy and it's not his problem I don't like it. DO NOT order from this place read more

Very cute clean place in a strip mall. Not obvious where it is until you see it. Seems family owned and operated. Everyone was super sweet and the food was very good (we had breakfast burrito and egg sandwich). The only downside was you ordered at a counter then sat down versus table service. read more

The first thing I noticed when walking in was the man in the kitchen. Carlos was an extremely nice personable man and it only got better from there. Me and my girlfriend had the number 9 smoothie, coconut oatmeal, and the breakfast burritto. All 3 were absolutely amazing and for the price you cannot get it better than that. $6 for the burrito $3 for the oatmeal and $7 for the smothie (would have been $15 anywhere else in Boca area) Very fresh food made with no growth hormones. I highly recommend this place will definitley be a regular here read more

Found this place while I was picking up coffee next door. Very reasonable price and the manager Carlos is hospitable and welcoming. Not only the food is off the charts but the timing of it getting to the table is phenomenal. Will start coming regularly. DEFINITELY WORTH IT. read more

Hidden Gem! Inside a corporate building, didn't see what the name of the business was bc I was in a hurry to get to work. I called in my order to a very nice owner and my breakfast burrito was ready by the time I got there which was about 5 minutes. Staff was friendly, and the owner let me try some seriously delicious oatmeal that I'll be sure to get next time. Check out was easy, and extra points for having espresso! Thank you! Terrible customer service. Did not like what I got to drink. I asked the lady if I could return it or just switch it out for something else. The guy coming in the back yelled "no she can't. She already tried it." Of course I tried it... How else would I know I don't like it?...I paid for it. Food was good, but not worth the experience. read more

The staff was Very friendly and the food was great especially for the price. The portions were nice but not enough where you felt bloated. And instead of fries they do a nice macaroni salad so you don't feel that over heat and dread. Very good food very healthy food and good vegetarian options read more

We wanted to confirm paying for a pistachio latte would be the same as paying for a latte with syrup added and she said it would, but again she seemed kinda annoyed or impatient by our questions. Not friendly service at all. It came out to $8 for an iced latte ($1 for non-dairy milk) in an albeit cute container but it was just subpar.

I absolutely love this place. Fortunately for me it's within a mile from where I work, but they also deliver if you can't break away from the office. Their food is both delicious AND healthy. All meat is hormone-free, vegetarian fed. Tons of vegetarian options. Every single dish I've tried was amazing. It gets better - pricing is super reasonable! I could eat here every day for lunch and not feel guilty about it. The owner, Carlos, is one of the nicest people I've. He knows all of his customers personally, and I've never seen him not smiling. Everyone that works there is super friendly and accommodating. My favorite meal is the curry chicken salad wrap. Second favorite is the breakfast burrito (O.M.G.). I also tried one of their smoothies the other day... probably the best smoothie I've ever had. I could really go on and on about this place and the staff, but I'll spare you. First of all it smells like a greasy spoon in there - they need a ventilation system. If you want to smell like a diner, this is the place to go. I was greeted by three polite ladies that were working the counter and ordered the incredible coconut oatmeal. I waited 15 minutes while the owner filled other orders and when I asked how much longer (I had to get to work) the owner SCREAMED LIKE A CRAZY PERSON at me across the restaurant that I would have to wait my turn. The place was literally empty and there were three girls standing there doing nothing. It is not like they had to make the oatmeal from scratch as it was sitting on the stove and just needed to be spooned into the container. I will not patronize any establishment where the management is a bully rude male that would not let the ladies help me out. This place is the absolute worst! Their idea of hashbrowns are frozen premade McDonald looking patties. The eggs are bland and overcooked. Don't ask for cheese on your eggs because you will end up with a sweaty slice of unmelted cheese that looks like it was sitting outside all day. Their customer service is lacking. The people there are rude and entitled. For the trash food you serve you should be a little nicer. All of their reviews are fake and come from their family. Boss yells at his emplyees and curses them out. Told a young lady the other day she is forbiden to use the bathroom. I watched the whole thing she did nothing wrong to upset the boss so much. He is very much of a hot head, came in on a couple ocassions and each time he was yelling at some one. Food is good tho. But employees are mistreated. He has even told off customers. Always can count on a good emergency lunch meal from them when I have forgotten my own. Their smoothies are excellent and the food is healthy enough to make it a good conscious choice.
