Picadilly is a chain of cafeteria style restaurants found mainly in the south and Gulf Coast. The first Piccadilly Cafeteria opened in 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Picadilly was bought by T.H. "Tandy" Hamilton in 1944. In 1988 they purchased another cafeteria chain, Morrison's Cafeterias which was founded by J. A. Morrison in 1920. At their height, there was 270 restaurants but poor management led to bankruptcy in 2003 and again in 2012 and they were sold off to Yucaipa Companies and Diversified Investment Management Group. By 2012 they were down to only 41 locations. South Florida had two Piccadilly Cafeterias, one in Hialeah at the Westland Mall and on the Palm Springs Mile. Both are now closed butthere is a Facebook page dedicated their memory. Today there are only two locations left in Florida, Jacksonville and this one in Hollywood! I couldn't believe there was still one left here and I made it a point to stop by for lunch.' As soon as I walked in I was flooded with nostalgia. Even the decor looks the same as I remembered. You grab a try and slide it down the line telling them what you want added to your plate. Meals include a protein, two sides, and a bread. You can add more sides for an additional price. They also have a selection of desserts of cakes, pies, and cobblers. Expect to find homestyle dishes like chicken, teriyaki chicken, fish, and fried shrimp. Vegetarians can order the four vegetable plate. I had the roast beef drenched in au jus, carrot souffle, and broccoli rice au gratin. It was all as good as I remembered, especially the decadent carrot souffle which is a dessert in itself. I just found a copycat recipe for the Picadilly carrot souffle and it is getting added to the Easter dinner menu. So many of our memories are associated with food and this was like a warm hug from the past. I started to tell a server how excited I was that there was still a Picadilly left and she said honey we hear that all the time. I gather a lot of their diners come here for the memories. So many of us grew up eating at cafeteria style restaurants with beloved family members no longer here. Eating here is a way to connect to the past. The restaurant was filled on the week day I visited so hopefully they will be here for a long time to come. I am already planning a visit back with a family member who is going to be elated to come here. read more

I can close my eyes and reminisce when I was a kid (back in the 80's and 90's) and coming to Piccadilly's was a treat!!! I was intrigued to see that this location is one of the few left. So I had to feed my childhood craving and decided in having lunch. I went in with an open mind but I was sad to see, it has not been maintained at all! The inside immediately feels dated nor clean. I decided on a few of the classics. Honestly I only had a few bites of each dish. Food was cold and it had probably been sitting around for quite some time. Within a few hours after having finished my meal, I had gone straight to the bathroom. (Not in a good way). Very sad, I would predict they would be closing their doors soon. The only positive was the service. Everyone was kind and attentive. Great staff! read more

When is this location getting a renovation? The roof has been in disrepair for YEARS now with the front section covered in black tarps. It stinks of mildew on the inside, look at the walls facing the outer walls they are warped due to moisture intrusion, the carpet is disgusting as way past its lifespan. The bathroom ceilings are filled with mildew due to leaks from roof. The wall paint is old and tired. I blame corporate as I think these locations are corporate owned, please correct me if wrong? Back when I was doing my first internship in the Gables, my bosses would love the Piccadilly in Miracle Mile. With its legion of servers in erstwhile suits, it was the spot of a lot of early business lunches. Fast forward twenty plus years, while that particular one is no longer open, I've heard from a few good yelp friends who share the love of this spot. I found myself near this one this week, and had the chance to stop in and grab a bite. The ambiance is as much a senior family friendly vibe as I can remember. The waiters did come around to see if I needed any condiments or refills. As far as food, I enjoyed essentially a Thanksgiving lunch. The roasted red potatoes had a good texture, though they could have used some gravy. My corn side was smooth grained and lightly sweet. The turkey and stuffing was a decently sized lunch portion. Next time I'll ask for a little more cranberry though. My highlight was their cherry cobbler that had a fluffy base and was loaded with fresh strawberries and whipped creme. A friend recommended their fried chicken; I'll try that next time for a little more flavor perhaps. read more

I hadn't been here in yrs so we decided to grab lunch. The restaurant hasn't changed much and the abundance of items are still there. I wanted to get a turkey legs but they didn't have any so I decided to get the fried swai fish dinner. The fish was fried perfectly, just the right amount of seasoning but not over powering. My sides were the okra and stuffing. The okra was delicious and the stuffing while ok wasn't as good as I remember it to be. The rolls are still fresh baked and fluffy. For dessert I got a small peach cobbler to go. I would recommend Piccadilly's peach cobbler over peach cobbler factorys any day of the week!!!!!. In these economic times to get two full course home cooked meals for $28 is such a great deal. I would recommend this location. read more

Had many memories here with my father, will be one of the first places I go back to next time I'm back in Hollywood again.

I had the turkey and dressing and it was almost too salty to eat. I should have sent it back like my cousin did. Everything else was delish! my friends said the fried fish was exceptionally good and perfectly cooked. Piccadilly has always been the gold standard of cafeterias. I wish they hadn't all closed. The only real problem I had with this one was that it's pretty old. It needs a deep clean, carpet replacement, and general decor updating. Staff is still friendly and attentive though! read more

My family and I went to Piccadilly cafeteria for our annual New Year's day dinner. The restaurant was very clean, especially around the different food stations. We were greeted by each server and host, as we made our way through the line. As we paid for our food, we had a host that came and took our trays to our tables which was greatly appreciated. I decided to try their blackened catfish, with a side of black-eyed peas and carrots soufflé. This catfish was amazing! I was given a nice portion size; the catfish was seasoned very well and tender. The vegetables on top of the catfish tasted great as well. The food was so good, I almost forgot to take a picture of it lol. My favorite side dish from them has always been the carrot soufflé. Also this was my first time trying their black-eyed peas, and the peas were great. As always I can't wait to return to this restaurant. read more

So I haven't been to Picadilly since my days in Houston, so it was cool to wax nostalgic with a meal at an old favorite spot. For years, I've pretty much gotten the same meal every time that I visit Picadilly - fried fish, mashed potatoes, broccoli, roll. Overall, the meal was good but I take issue with instant mashed potatoes. No way should a relatively good meal be totally jacked with instant anything! Otherwise, no complaints. Delicious and fresh food. First time visiting this restaurant. There were many choices and dishes available. The setting is like buffet- cafeteria type. Although the restaurant looks a little old its clean and brings a very welcoming and pleasantly comfortable feeling. All the employees that work there are friendly and hospitable. I choose the salad and the fried shrimp and also the velvet cake for dessert. All the food tasted really delicious and savory. We appreciated their very nice customer service and delicious food. The portions were generous at a very affordable price. Every item looked freshly made and hot. We really appreciated the very nice and phenomenal service of Mr. Mark. As a little girl, I often joined my grandmother and mother on their outings to Piccadilly. My grandmother passed when I was six, but despite this, the tradition lived on with my mother and I. We would frequent the Hialeah locations, because lucky us, we had two. Unfortunately those days are long gone and done. The two Piccadilly locations we had near home have been gone for quite some time. Had it not been for a Google search, I wouldn't have even known there were still some left in the world, much less Florida. The Hollywood location is one of two locations left in Florida, the other being far north in Jacksonville. How fortunate am I that Hollywood is around half an hour away from home? Anyway, I went on Sunday with my boyfriend and some friends to see if Piccadilly was what I so happily had in my childhood. Newsflash: It was pretty darn close! Maybe it wasn't what I remembered in terms of payment. I recall getting food, asking for more at the table, and then when walking out, paying and getting Andes mints. Now you pay at the end of the cafeteria line, there are no mints, but the staff still circulates to see if you'd like a refill or more food. I also recall the desserts being last, not first, but things change. Fortunately, the food hasn't. The fried chicken is still amazing, as is the corn and the bread. I wish I had gotten some cherry pie, but they had none that day. Instead I got apple pie and it was pretty good. Ended up with a side of broccoli as an extra side came with the fried chicken. With my meal and my boyfriend's meal, I think my boyfriend ultimately spent $30, which wasn't bad at all. Would I return? Certainly! But definitely plan on making another outing after because you'll be in and out before you know it. I don't think we even spent an hour there and there were five of us! read more

The quality of food and service has a lot to be desired. My husband and I went for dinner today.. The girl on the serving line gave us attitude when ask if we could get some fresh cooked liver, since the liver on line looked like it was there for a day. Everything on the line looked overcooked and undesirable. Upon paying, I ask if there was someone who could carry my husband's tray because he is disabled. Well, the cashier rung the bell at lease four times, still no one came. Unfortunately, the cashier took my husband's tray to the table. Keep in mind there was a group of females standing around talking and laughing. Twenty minutes into our meal, a waitress comes to ask if we need anything, after she stood adjacent to our table. This place has really gone to the dogs. We were long standing customers, but no more. The corporate office needs to see what's happening to their business. Get professionals and a new manager. In addition, it raises a concern how well the food is being prepared. The health department needs to drop in and perhaps conduct an inspection! read more

I remember going to cafeterias like this when I was a kid back in PA with my great great grandmother, so Piccadilly Cafeteria is the perfect combo of nostalgia and yummy comfort food. This location is the only one in South Florida & only one of two in Florida. The building is definitely out of date and a bit dingy feeling. The dining room is open as of July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic but as the situation worsens in South Florida, I would suggest calling to confirm before you go if you plan to dine in. You can also get your food to go. Tables are blocked off to help with social distancing, everyone serving food was wearing a mask, and you must wear a mask if you're not seated. At Piccadilly Cafeteria, you go in, grab a tray, and make your way down the line choosing from a variety of Southern-style cakes, pies, meats, sides, and breads. Don't go hungry or it can be a bit overwhelming. The food is tasty but usually needs some extra seasonings and hot sauce to enhance the flavor. The portions are pretty generous (I never leave without a box). Service can be a bit slow but they usually only have just one server checking on everyone in the dining room. Piccadilly Cafeteria isn't fancy, and the building desperately needs to be updated, but it's still pretty good, not too expensive, and worth the trip down memory lane. read more

I thought they were all closed but I saw it one day while driving in the area, so you can image my excitement after tell my parents about it. We all came here as a family, all excited to dine and it turned out HORRIBLE. What a disgusting horrible place this is. We will NOT BE COMING BACK HERE again....EVER! Horrible service, with one expectation, a white Hispanic waitress. She was the only person who was super nice and wonderful. Food. Not good at all. Food choices, not so good either. The red velvet cake dessert was horrible. The icing was yellow and soft. Either too much butter or was old. Either way it tasted horrible. I am not one to waste food but I had to stop eating it half way in. The food line was moved slow. Waiting in line for almost 30 minutes. The place was almost empty. Should have took it as a sign of how the place was going to be. Cashier, an older white hispanic lady was not very well manner and rude, even with the waitress. HAIR in food and DEAD ROACH. Long strain of Hair was found in my mother's food. The plate was taken to the food line area and the manager (didn't get his name. A bald, black older man) was extremely rude and no manner. Definitely not a manager material. When I told him I found a long strain of hair in the food, he became defensive and then another employee stated they wear hair nets, indicating it was impossible for there to be a hair. The manager beginning shout to take the food with the hair back to the table and instead of running a proper business and take ownership of such simple error, he made a big deal. At the end, they replaced the plate with a new one at no extra charge but just his attitude was uncalled for. He made it seem like I wanted to get extra free food, the food was good to began with. Dead roach. A dead roach was seen on the ledge of the decorative wall in the food line area. Just like the hair, the roach was not brought there by us. This place is disgusting. The place smell MUSTY and the walls, carpets and ceiling was extremely dirty. The carpet is extremely old and almost black. There were water damages on the ceiling with holes. The restroom had heavy mold in the sink area and extremely heavy musty mold smell. The odor can be detected as you approach the restroom area. (REVIEWS from 7 YEARS AGO mentioned about the dirty musty smell and horrible service....I guess nothing has changed.) We did not enjoy this place at all. I have been to some dirty restaurants but this by far, tops the list of my worst dining experience. We did not enjoy our visit or the meal at all. We literally dined and left as soon as we finished. Usually, in other restaurants, we dine and then stay and chat for a little bit before leaving. Not at this place. The meals were 2 meals for $25.00..........Knowing what I know now, we could have gone to Chili's or Applebee's, dined 2 for $20 and enjoyed a better meal with a cleaner dining environment. This place needs to be completed gutted, remodeled and restaffed if they plan to survive in the long run. Expect for that one waitress, they should keep her. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when they closed the Picadilly's on Flagler & in Hialeah. This cafeteria has been somewhat of a tradition with my family since I can remember. First with my dad & I, then once i had my son, the three of us would spontaneously decide to go. Something about the trays, the community vibe, the insane amount of choices & if you happen to go on the weekend, you may get lucky and see Black families straight from church in beautiful dresses & hats. Picadilly is such a unique vibe & I missed it terribly. A few weeks ago, my dad called me excitedly to tell me there was a location still open in Hollywood. Broward?!?!? Might as well be on the moon but for Picadilly, I'd make the journey. We got there on a Saturday afternoon and we were NOT disappointed. Although I had never been here, everything was exactly as I remembered & hoped for. Food was great & I can't wait to go back! I'm already craving a Peach Cobbler. I went to Pick up thanksgiving turkey to go for office and decided I'd eat there. The food line was clean and staff pleasant. The smell of place was wretched and old dirty carpet, wood and walls painted over and over, the lightening is awful. It needs a major makeover. 2022 My husband suddenly and randomly stated he wanted to go eat at Piccadilly as he hadn't eaten there since he was younger with his grandma (his grandma passed in 2015). We found Piccadilly nearby our home and went. They had a private parking lot, we entered through the back, got a tray and started selecting the items he wanted. Everyone was wearing hair coverings, gloves and all was being operated like a well oiled machine. The food was fresh, perfect serving portions and fast from the tray to cashier. The total for one was $18-$19 a little on the pricey side for one person but for the food compared to fast food there's no arguments on the subject. We found our table and were greeted by staff to ask how we were doing which was nice and thoughtful. He ordered fried fish , mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli and cheese, and dinner roll, no dessert (see photo). My husband was having a moment, throughly enjoying his food and I mean every bite while we talked about his experience at Piccadilly then vs now and both times were perfection. We completely enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to coming back. read more

I love Piccadilly... it's a childhood favorite! Yet they just keep declining throughout the years. Food is great (fried chicken has always been my fav), but they need to improve the interior of the restaurant. It feels dirty and very outdated. There was mold visible all over the air vents. The ladies serving the food need an attitude adjustment, won't hurt for them to smile. Heck, the servers are so much nicer than them!! Piccadilly... please renovate this location! I don't care if that means raising the prices of the food, there's a moldy smell in this restaurant, carpet has got to go, bring in some new trays and utensils, and retrain the staff to display positive attitude on the job! read more

Yes Picadilly is still alive and well in Hollywood so that's where we headed..to relieve my childhood Upon parking and going in the first thing you notice is the old school decor of the establishment (brings back memories) The concept of picadilly is simple..you pick a tray and go down the line a la cafeteria style choosing what you want to eat and drinking and then at the end paying for what you order (each entree comes with 2 sides). I chose the fried chicken since that's what i would get with kernel corn and black eyed peas as sides and Black Forest cake for dessert You will be pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food was very good for the price and those sides are no joke; they make look small in quantity but they will fill you up in a hurry. The fried chicken was perfectly crunchy with perfect taste (just like I used to have it). A cafeteria style dining. This place reminds me of my old school cafeteria. With plenty of food selections to choose from. Today I had the almond crusted fish. It had a good almond crunch to it that I liked. The fish was perfectly cooked too. I then had my favorite thing here the carrot souffle, if you haven't try this you should. Its delicious. It's a sweet carrot pureed with the perfect sweetness to it. I also tried the yellow rice and apple pie, it was good. The apple pie had a good flaky crust, tasted homemade. My final side dish was the jalapeno corn bread. I didn't like it. It was very dry and tasteless. The service was a little slow. My first impression when I came in the establishment was that it was not very welcoming. Not a single smile on the food servers face. They really didn't seem to want to be there. A blank stare on most food servers face. It made me a little unconfortable ordering more. I felt like i was bothering them. The check out girl was friendly. OMG! I love cafeteria food and thankfully Piccadilly in Hollywood is still around South Florida. Sadly a few locations around South Florida closed down about 5 to 10 years ago, but the Hollywood location is still here. The food is hella amazing and the staff are friendly and professional. I give the place 5 stars but the inside decor is quite dated n needs to be remodeled ASAP but the food and staff make this place 5 stars! I have never been to Piccadilly's, so since we were visiting Florida we decided to try it. We had battered fish, cajun style catfish, collard greens, broccoli casserole, sweet potatoes, strawberry shortcake, pecan pie & sweet potato pie. I was surprised because the food did not tasted homecooked. It looked good, but looks can be deceiving. The greens tasted like they were frozen greens, sweet potatoes canned & the pie store bought. The fish & broccoli casserole was ok. The bests item I had from Piccadilly's was the sweet tea. I'll just stay a Luby's girl. read more
