A group of us had dinner at Open Road recently. Our server was incredibly friendly and did a great job, but unfortunately the overall service was very slow. Drinks from the bar took quite a while to arrive, and there was also a long wait for our food to come out of the kitchen. I ordered the chicken fajitas, and they were definitely the highlight of my meal--hot, sizzling, nicely grilled, and very flavorful. Others in our group also enjoyed the generous portions of wings, fresh salads, and the jambalaya, so the food overall was very good. The restaurant has a fun, energetic vibe, but it was so loud that it was difficult to carry on a conversation at our table. One other downside was parking. The lot is fairly small and shared with three different restaurants, so finding a spot was frustrating. I'd come back because the food was good and the staff was genuinely friendly, but I'd hope for faster service and a better parking experience next time. read more

Man this place was great! I loved the layout and how it was also decorated for Christmas! There is parking outside the restaurant but it can get filled pretty fast. The service was great and our server was amazing, she checked on us frequently and even took our group picture since it was a group of 4. I ordered the brick chicken and cider mule and both were a 10/10! I absolutely love mashed potatoes and the broccolini was flavorful. The chicken portion was a good size and overall really enjoyed the dish. Likewise, I loved the mix between apple cider and a Moscow mule! This was so delicious and I also ended up getting a dirty Shirley Temple which was also really good and my first time having one. Service - 10/10 our waitress was on it! She was attentive despite the bustle. Food - I ordered the fajitas and I personally thought it was just standard fajitas, the price was a bit steep for what I got but overall decent. My friends got the brick chicken with mashed potato's and it was delicious from what she said! Another friend got the blacked chicken Cesar salad that looked really good and my other friend got fish tacos he said they were pretty standard, but could have used a sauce to add some kick. The location itself is ample and has two bars I think. A lot of TV screens with multiple sports so it was bumpin in there! Since my last review of Open Road, I have entered an entirely new stage of life where I have exchanged happy hour special menus for kid menus ... and let me tell you Open Road is completely lit for the littles. Buttered noodles are poppin. Kids cheeseburger and fries was completely polished off. And when I was leaving I saw that they are having a weekend brunch special where kids eat free during the summer. The dining room was completely full of families so we opted to sit at the bar. We saw a young father son duo watching a baseball game on the television together and sharing a plate of nachos, and it was the cutest thing. Open Road is for the kids My husband and I grabbed some wings and a cheesesteak and reveled over how life has changed since our last visit. It was the perfect casual meal to finish up the work week. Open Road Grill is amazing. My father went here to meet a friend and highly recommended it. I was out in the area and decided to try it out myself with a friend living out in Fals Church. Fun place with great food to meet up with friends for lunch on a hot Saturday in the summer. Great drink selection -- we shared a pitcher of mimosas and had some of the excellent local beers on tap. Lots of seating on the fully covered patio with fans running to keep it cool. Quite a few parties around us had young children, so seems like kids and families are welcome. Ambiance: large open plan restaurant with a bar area towards the left side. That is also where they have Trivia on Tuesday evenings 7-9pm. Service: the manager came over make sure we were ok throughout the night. Our waitress was awesome. Very attentive and sweet. Food: we came for HAPPY HOUR and TRIVIA. It was National Oysters Day so a few of us ordered raw oysters and Fried oyster Po Boy. We all seemed to love the chicken bites. I had the Buffalo Garlic sauce which was spicy but super flavorful. Tuesday Trivia night was a full house so plan accordingly for parking. I didn't realize they were a conglomerate of other restaurants. Because I had ordered online, I didn't use the traditional entrance. This little strip of restaurants are all part of the same group. Open Road, Trio Grill, and Roadhouse. The parking lot was packed! They even had a tenant trying to help guide cars to available spots. There aren't a lot of spots to split between 3 restaurants, for 6PM on a Saturday, it was pretty crowed. Luckily if you are picking up there are roughly 2 reserved spots for pick up orders. I got the Open Road burger and it was quite delicious. They ask how you want your burger cooked and the way it came made it almost look like an onion volcano. Little peek into the burger. The taste was quite good, pretty standard and well cooked. It also came with a side of fries. One thing with the takeout though was that there weren't many ketchup packets included. I took a peek at their daily specials and happy hour menu and I understand why it can get crowded. I was definitely eyeing the $1 oyster Tuesdays or Fajitas Fridays. read more

Wow. What a great experience. The server was super attentive and well versed on the menu. Place was spacious and had a nicely sized bar and booth options. The food, AMAZING. Ordered Brussels sprouts as a starter, delicious. The bleu cheese and bacon was the perfect addition. The wings, phenomenal! Some of the best wings I've had in quite some time. First time here, in town visiting family. My BIL said we had to come eat here. He said everything was good. Of course I trust him because he's and his husband are foodies like us. We walked in and had reservations and were seated right away. It was a very nice place, lots of screens, lots of good vibes jury was a bit loud so unfortunately I didn't catch our waitress name. Very nice young lady. I'm pretty sure her name started with an A but it just was too loud to hear her since she was soft spoken. Still a nice young lady. We ordered drinks...I ordered the OR crush and my family ordered the black manhattan. Two ordered the brick chicken, one ordered the chicken sandwich and I ordered the blackened Cesar salad...all the meals were absolutely delicious. Had to try the fries off my BILs plate and they were so good. Tried the mashed potatoes from my BFs dish and they were amazing. We had a nice time and enjoyed watching the game on the screen. I've tried this place on a Tuesday night and it happened to be oyster night so we got a dozen oysters. Overall really solid for $1 oysters. Additionally, we got a philly cheesesteak and their original cheeseburger and it was all really good. I like how they have a million TVs so you can watch whatever sport you're interested in. I can imagine they have a lot of guests on the weekends during the prime time games. Overall, nice clean spot with a big menu offering! read more

I love the open road location in Rosslyn! I came here for an event which had the patio/private space booked. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was decent and I felt it was fairly priced. I've had take out from Open Road several times and they make some of the best burgers in the DMV area. This was our first time to the restaurant. It's a nice place next to their sister restaurant Trio Grill which is more upscale and have excellent food (review later). Both places have outdoor seating that is enclosed for comfort. We came to Open Road for brunch. Service was great and the food was great. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Breakfast Tacos and Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad. All dishes were great: the chicken on the salad was especially good. Don't know why this place wasn't in our regular rotations but have now added it. Rude and racist - non white customers be ware Probably one of the worst restaurant experiencea ever - completely destroyed our family Father's day dinner. Our party of 8 arrived on time for our reservations and requested that we get our two tables joined or close by. The restaurant was about half full. We were immediately told off by the hostess and informed rather rudely and angrily that we would have to wait 30 mins when there were multiple empty tables in the dining hall and patio. Thankfully the manager stepped in and we were seated after about 10 mins. We promptly ordered drinks and dinner and then our server disappeared. After patiently waiting for 30 mins and no service, I enquired how.much longer it would be. Meanwhile all tables around us were served and well taken care of. Another 15 mis later the waitress brought out half the drinks. When I asked about the rest of the order I was rudely told "I only have two hands!" At this point we got up and informed the manager that we had waited more than 45 mins with no service and walked out. read more

Not too spicy and not too salty. Didn't sample any alcoholic beverages as this is dry January, maybe next month I can let you know how those are. The ambience is a modern, with homage to Harley Davidson and the open roads of course! I really like the brunch menu (salmon avocado toast and huevos ranchero). I got the potato chowder today, I feel it could have been heated more but was yummy. I usually get the Cobb salad or the Cobb salad bites. I also like the mussels, Brussels sprouts, and the chicken tenders. I like they give free popcorn for the table, even though sometimes it tastes stale. The inside is pretty rustic, and has a biker vibe, very casual. It has a nice outdoor, covered patio area. All staff are friendly. We ordered 4 items: 1) BBQ chicken nachos 2) Waygu meatball sliders 3) Steak tacos 4) Filet tips pasta. The nachos were good but the bbq chicken was very sweet. The steak tacos were interesting but delicious. The interesting part were the two toppings of julienne cucumber and red radish. But underneath all of that, lies the umami of all sorts of flavors. The filet tip pasta was okay. The meat was tender but fell flat on the pasta sauce which lack flavor. The highlight were the wagyu meatball sliders that only arrived to the table in 3s. Pretty decent spot. I've been to this location multiple times and they haven't disappointed me. They have a good selection of alcoholic beverages, I recommend trying their ciders. Dropping this place to 2 stars. Last couple of visits I've had average service at best - when the place is mostly empty and while sitting at the bar. Today I was offered a beer, had some popcorn dropped off, and then watched the bartenders walk past my empty glass for 10 minutes. I'm not one to wave down a bartender, that's why I sit there. If it was busy I'd be ok with that - but when the bartender has time to show her homemade arts and crafts to the couple a few chairs down from me I'd say they just didn't want my business.
