    Ancient Grain, V Mashed potatoes
    Melanie J.

Was super excited to try this restaurant out as they practice sustainable efforts when serving food. I had the ancient grain bowl with air fried chicken tenders and my friend had the teriyaki bowl. I personally forget to remove the edamame from my order, but my overall portion was really good for the price. Misha, was efficient and helpful with every question we had for him. The place kind of reminded me of a rustic restaurant with the open seating and neutral tones. We also ordered sides and I fell in love with their cheesy mashed potatoes!!!

This is a nice healthy food option in the area! I really enjoy the fresh juices they make in house. They are very flavorful and refreshing! The edamame dumpling appetizers were so good and I love the sauce it comes in. The salmon and pasta were good as well! Our server was nice and came to check on us multiple times. There is a lot of seating and it is pretty spacious inside. I would love to come back to try their other drinks!

Very expensive and poor quality food that didn't taste good. The spaghetti squash casserole was ok, but a bit too tangy. The chicken parmesan was also sour, and the pasta was cold. The air-fried french fries were so oily and soggy - it felt like they were actually deep fried and were not pleasant to eat. I didn't care for the peri peri ketchup, either. None of our food came out hot and fresh. It's almost like they just microwave the food, since some parts are cold and some are warm. Service was fairly quick but just alright. They weren't friendly or inviting. We sat outside on the patio and didn't like how close the tables were to each other. It was so close that the person sitting behind me could've hit my head if they leaned back in their seat. I was not comfortable dining here. I remember eating a turkey burger here about 10 years ago and did not like it, but I wanted to give them another shot since they seem to have lots of healthy options. I was sorely disappointed by their food, service, and atmosphere and won't be returning. Highly DO NOT recommend!!

I stopped by with my boyfriend and another couple on July 4th around 5. Luckily there was free parking nearby, and it wasn't very busy (probably due to the holiday) so we were seated right away. We sat outside which was lovely. For drinks, I had the Rosé Sangria which was delicious and refreshing, but not very boozy. I'm a lightweight and I did not feel a thing after this one. I also had the Indigo, which I knew would be floral, but it was powerful. Tasted like a flower in a cup - not my favorite, but stronger than the first. My boyfriend had the Crime of Passion and this one was so yummy - it's got a sweet but tart flavor and will wake you up. We tried the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Cups and I was a big fan of these. I wish they gave a bit more because this was barely enough for two, so I wouldn't recommend sharing. But it was flavorful and so fresh! A delicious little bite. For our entrees, I got the Chicken Parmesan and my boyfriend had the Lasagne al Pesto. I thought my chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, and it tasted like a classic chicken parm. I didn't mind the squash noodles but they are a little mushier than regular pasta. My boyfriend absolutely loved his lasagna and I thought it was a clever pairing of flavors. I would come back for the food, it's certainly fresh and reasonably priced.

Brussels sprouts are still king. Cauliflower appetizer was good but I like the Brussels sprouts more with the flavors. Had the lasagne like item and it was pretty good. Prices still high especially drinks. They look great but there's really only a few ounces of liquids. This is true of the non alcoholic drinks. Advertisement for "healthy" fare still there.

The food is very healthy! The homemade ketchup was great with the homemade fries. The service was great very friendly and knowledgeable of their food. It's very comfortable inside and they offer outdoor seating. The buffalo chicken was awesome!

It was a rainy Tuesday evening when I met up with former colleagues at True Food Kitchen, craving something hearty yet wholesome. I started with the cauliflower appetizer, which came with dates--the smoky, grilled flavor paired with the sweetness of the dates was an absolute standout. For my entrée, I went with the grass-fed burger with mushrooms. It was flavorful and satisfying without feeling heavy, and pairing it with the air-fried fries gave me that comfort-food fix while still feeling a little lighter. My colleagues ordered the quinoa bowl and a shrimp and noodle dish, and both looked amazing! And they look like they enjoyed it. We capped off the night with a seasonal carrot cake which was moist with a creamy frosting, which was the perfect finish. Overall, everything was consistently good, from start to finish. True Food Kitchen continues to surprise me in the best way, and I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

We were looking for an outdoor venue, but the day was iffy. True Food Kitchen had the perfect setup. When it started pouring, the server lowered the clear shades to keep the rain from splashing in. Our server, Olivia was sweet ,efficient and attentive. My wife was impressed with the Matcha Tea, me not so much - just not my thing. The peach lemonade was fantastic! As some of you may know, I am a burger guy, and the Grass Fed burger was cooked perfectly as ordered, nicely presented on a multi seeded bun. The flavor was good but not exceptional. I had the butternut squash soup which had a creamy texture and delicious. My wife had the Chinese Chicken Salad which was a good balance between veggies and protein served with an exceptionally great tasting dressing. I recommend True Food Kitchen for casual dining. They have a huge fully stocked bar, although we did not partake this time.

Love the lively ambiance at the open, airy and attractively designed True Food. The restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine. Service was excellent. What we really like about True Food is that their food is prepared with high-quality and healthy ingredients. We went with a friend who insisted on ordering both the brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters. These dishes were good. Of the two, the brussel sprouts were better. Unfortunately, my pepperoni pizza was poor. Yes, the pizza's flavor was very good but the Neopolitan-like crust was so soggy and thin that it had to be eaten with a knife and fork. But maybe that's how True Food wants their pizza, and other people prefer it this way. JP ordered a turkey burger. To cut back on carbs, JP requested and received a lettuce leaf as the bun. The burger was excellent, though the kale that came with the dish could have stood more dressing. Our friend, also wanting to restrict carb intake, requested the meatloaf entrée, but without the mashed potatoes. Myself, the boy from Idaho, could never say no to mashed potatoes. Our friend was surprised that the meatloaf only came with carrots. The server explained that the potatoes would have been the other vegetable. Our server graciously then brought our friend a bowl of steamed broccoli to supplement his dish. I tried the meatloaf and it was excellent, definitely prepared from high-quality beef. For a beverage I ordered iced tea. I didn't like that the tea turned out to be a fruity hibiscus variant. When I order iced tea, I like to get iced tea. But overall, our dining experience was very good. I do recommend making reservations.

Attended my friend's birthday dinner here. It was everyone's first time dining at this location, and my first time even hearing of this restaurant. What I had: *SPARKLING PRICKLY PEAR TISANE *MEATLOAF w/cheesy mashed potatoes, honey roasted carrots, mushroom jus, microgreens *FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE (the birthday girl) Our server Dominick was a gem, offering hospitality and honest food recommendations. We'll definitely be back to try some other food options. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

Others in our group also enjoyed the generous portions of wings, fresh salads, and the jambalaya, so the food overall was very good. The restaurant has a fun, energetic vibe, but it was so loud that it was difficult to carry on a conversation at our table. One other downside was parking. The lot is fairly small and shared with three different restaurants, so finding a spot was frustrating. It's a nice atmosphere, not too stuffy but elegant enough for a nice dinner. The drinks are good, well mixed, and nice options whether you drink wine, beer, cocktails, or non-alcoholic options. The food, however, is very mediocre. They started with an amuse-bouche that was a fruit tart with cheese. Nice, light, and well balanced. We ordered the tuna tartare, along side a Japanese sweet potato dish and a salmon tartare that were both specials. The tartares were fine. Something you would get anywhere. The presentation was nice but their crisp or cracker was kind of useless as it doesn't have the structural strength to use as a vessel to eat the fish. The sweet potato was probably the best in terms of flavor albeit very rich. The main course is well things really fell apart. The beef dishes people ordered were either under cooked or over cooked. As soon as we entered, General Manager Sam welcomed us like old friends. After we were seated, my wife asked if he had previously worked at The Dabney, and sure enough, that's where we recognized him from. It was great catching up as he shared what he'd been doing since then and how his dream had always been to open his own restaurant. Seeing that dream come to life made the evening feel even more special. The restaurant was busy (definitely make reservations), but we were able to enjoy cocktails while we waited for our table. My Grey Goose martini with bleu cheese olives was phenomenal and set the tone for the rest of the meal. We started with the Bison Tartare and the Ceviche. The bison tartare was leaner than traditional beef tartare, and the crispy chips added the perfect savory crunch. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and bright. For our entrées, I had the ribeye while my wife ordered the Dory. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My wife couldn't stop talking about how buttery and delicious the fish was. To finish the evening, we ordered the 100-Year Port Flight featuring 10-, 20-, 30-, and 40-year ports. Vertical tastings are such a fun way to experience how a wine evolves over time. The 40-year was absolutely outstanding, and the 20-year was another favorite. The 10-year was enjoyable but still showed its youthful character compared to the older vintages. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and relaxed. The main dining room can feel a little tight when the restaurant is full, while the bar area has a few TVs for anyone wanting to catch a game. One thoughtful touch that stood out was the women's restroom being stocked with amenities like hair ties and hair clips. We noticed they also offer a tasting menu, and after this experience, that's already on our list for our next visit. Between the outstanding hospitality, exceptional food, excellent cocktails, and welcoming atmosphere, Evelyn Rose absolutely earned five stars.
