Great service all around, very pleasant staff, best glasses I've ever had. Will definitely recommend to others

Optical Arts was on the list of recommended Eyewear places given to me at my ophthalmologist'office. I was very dissatisfied from my previous eyewear chain store, which will remain anonymous, because they sold me their "top of the line" progressive lenses but the peripheral was awful. They insisted that there is always some distortion. This "distortion" made driving difficult because I couldn't see cars on the side of me. So in I walk into Optical Arts and I am greeted by the loveliest ladies who were very friendly and helpful. I told them my concern and the gentleman who I presume was the optometrist or the owner interjected and explained to me the issue with the lenses. He took my glasses into the back to examine, came back out and said "yes, these are blank lenses and I bet you got them at blank store. These are their top of the line but the manufacturer's bottom of the line." Needless to say, I was completely surprised. He explained to me the difference between lenses and a lot of information I can't understand but I knew he knew what he was talking about. I requested their very top of line lenses because, at this point, I couldn't compromise my vision any further. He suggested I go a notch down since I really didn't need the most expensive, the one just below will be fine. I picked out a pair of Cartier frames and he measured my eyes to the lenses with both manual and computerized equipment to ensure that the lenses were perfect. And they were!! I have excellent peripheral vision and the measurements couldn't be any more precise. He made adjustments on the frame to ensure that the glasses sit correctly on my face. The attention to every detail was amazing. After wearing the glasses a couple of days, I realized that they were a bit tight behind the ears. I went back and he knew exactly where the discomfort was and adjusted them perfectly. Again, the attention given to my needs were Class A. I will certainly be going back to them in the future for all my eye needs. read more

My experience here was absolutely amazing! From the optometrist to the floor staff! I originally went there to purchase a new pair of glasses that were long overdue. I was going to purchase a new pair earlier but Covid-19 brought our lives to an abrupt halt! I honestly couldn't wait to purchase a new pair because I started to look like the nerd in those comedies we often saw as kids, you know the goofy kid with the tape holding up his glasses! Well, thankfully, I found "Optical Arts." I chose them from all of the great reviews on Yelp and I didn't want to go with my original vendor "Cohen's Optical" in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Now, I am not here to knock the Cohen's Optical franchise because my experience doesn't reflect other peoples' experiences. Having said that, I am glad I made the change! I loved it so much that I decided to bring my mother there too. She even made a purchase and now we are really happy! My optometrist was honest, understanding, knowledgeable, and professional. She even informed me that I might have the presence of early glaucoma which is a genetic problem in my family often showing up at an early age. So I am happy that she let me know so as to avoid a very painful future filled with treatments and surgeries that don't really resolve themselves. Well, I chose, with the staff's help, a beautiful pair of designer glasses with all of the bells and whistles of modern glasses for a great price! I have to say that I was floored by the price because my earlier vendor was a crook! Not only were they expensive, but my lenses kept popping out, hence the use of the electrical tape! All I have to say is that I am happy with my new glasses, they make me look and feel great, I am no longer dizzy, and I can see everything! The shop is also gorgeous and the inventory is excellent. I'd like to share my experience. The office receptionist had a clear understanding that my eye test was not covered by my insurance plan as she had printed my coverage information prior to the exam but never mentioned that I would be responsible for the $275. She mentioned another tiny payment to me ($39) prior to the exam but never mentioned the other charges. When she surprised me with the $275 bill I asked to send it to me so I'd work it out with my insurance but I was told that I can't leave the office unless I pay the bill right away. I was not aware that my contact lenses and contact exam benefits are linked. I had to spend 40 mins on the phone with my insurance company after my exam. I'd certainly figure things out if I were notified about my benefits before the exam. And I don't mind paying out of pocket when it's my choice. On another note the peripheral vision test was performed by the receptionist in the bright lighted room and I saw the reflection of my jacket on the screen. When I told the receptionist about that she responded- yes, we are aware about the problem and will have to make some adjustments. The receptionist could not adjust the height of a chair I was sitting on to position me at the right height so the test would be done correctly. The receptionist said there is nothing we can do, let's just proceed with the test. Also I was charged inshurane copay but my insurance was not billed. I believe that is called a medical fraud. The Doctor who did the test was female. The script I was given has a male doctor's name. While I'm making an appropriate steps to make sure it won't happen to others I hope people who will read about my experience would make their choice better than I did this time. read more

The customer service has gone completely downhill. The girl working the front who wears glasses might be the nastiest person I've ever dealt with in customer service. My family and myself were customers for 4 years. We never had any issues in this store until recently. I was given an incorrect contact prescription by the optometrist who works there. I had to go to another optometrist and pay $160 for an exam to get the correct prescription and all Eric could tell me is I owed him $7.95 for shipping because he had to reorder my contact lenses to the correct prescription. He actually wanted me to pay for the shipping! They also ordered the incorrect contact lenses for my husband after filling his eye glass prescription- not realizing his glasses were for reading and the contact lenses should have been for distance. They over charge you for absolutely everything his retail prices are completely inflated. All that Eric cares about is maximizing the most amount of money he can get out of you, even after billing insurance. They are argumentative if you question what they are charging you. Go somewhere else for certain!!!! read more

My eyeglasses were lost in an apartment flood. The staff at Optical Arts were able to create a beautiful pair of glasses for me extremely quickly! I contacted the store on Good Friday, provided my prescription, and received my eyeglasses the very next day, Saturday. My eyeglasses are not straightforward. They required specialty high index lenses which were made at a lab in Yonkers. The staff jumped through many hoops on my behalf, from personally picking up my glasses from a deliveryman to pulling strings to get the lenses cut by a lab on a holiday. I will be forever grateful to the kind and gracious individuals who work for/own this fine small business! Although I had to purchase these glasses due to an emergency situation, they are the nicest pair I have ever owned, and I have owned many. The lenses are extremely thin, the frames are beautiful, and the workmanship is unprecedented. Plus, the store has an amazing variety of frames to choose from. read more

I was visiting New York from Las Vegas with my boyfriend and this place was recommended to us by a friend. As soon as we walked in we felt extremely welcomed. There was no pressure to buy anything and they took the time to find the perfect fit that made me happy. I was overwhelmed because I wasn't sure what looked good on me and the selection was so large but they hand picked several pairs of glasses and each pair was perfect for my face shape. I have gotten so many compliments and am very happy with my purchase and experience. I highly recommend this store and will definitely be going back on our next visit. We went to this establishment on Sat 3/31 and was greeted by the most rude women, she was heavy set and dark haired. Her attitude toward us was disrespectful, she disputed that we received a call the night before moving our appointment up 15 minutes and then said the Dr was late and you would just have to wait or not. Clients should be put first in any service/retail operation. Guess those rules do not apply here read more
