3 weeks ago on July 5th. I was told that my new glasses, which were on hold, would now be processed . They have been paid in full since June 25th. When I spoke to Ryan last week he told me they were somehow still on hold, but he would rush the order through.. but never mentioned that they would soon be closed for vacation until Aug. 5th.. I still don't know the status of my order and there's no one to speak with. I'm a long time repeat customer and Very Disappointed. read more

Avoid This Place Pushy Sales Tactics and Poor Service I came here to get a prescription filled, expecting a simple and straightforward process covered by my insurance. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted politely and told to wait -- no issues there. But once I was helped by a representative, the experience quickly took a turn. It felt less like an optical appointment and more like being pitched at a car dealership. I was there for a free eye exam and prescription glasses covered by my insurance, but the staff member immediately tried to upsell me on an unnecessary extra eye test -- for an additional cost. When it came time to choose frames, I was led straight to the designer rack with frames starting over $200, completely skipping the selection covered by insurance. When I asked to see the free options, the response was dismissive: "Why would you want those? You could look good in these." He then pushed every lens upgrade imaginable -- UV coating, transitions, blue light filter -- all with extra fees. It felt like a circus of upselling, and the rep was overly aggressive. I believe he may have even been the manager or owner, which makes it worse. After moving from NY to Princeton, I ended up ordering glasses online using the prescription I got from this visit. When I lost them, I called the business again to see if I could get my free pair of glasses, which I was told had been dismantled but could be reassembled. I emailed my updated prescription, and was told it wouldn't be an issue. But this morning I got a call from a man -- raspy, like a heavy smoker -- who said I'd have to pay to put back together the glasses I already paid for, or use my insurance again for the new pair. I reminded him of what I was told earlier, but he insisted there would be an additional charge. I understand businesses face challenges, but the level of desperation and pressure I felt from this place was uncomfortable. This was supposed to be a healthcare service, not a hard sell. I strongly recommend others avoid this place and take your business somewhere more transparent and respectful. read more

this place is off the charts. I've never seen a business so well organized, efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and HONEST. My recent experience which was my first in evaluating my eyes to prescription and contact choice was really excellent. Highly recommend them. Even in busy times they had additional staff to get you out quickly. read more

I did not have a good experience here. Everyone's bedside manner was great except for Mr. Williams. His bedside manner was deplorable. I kept feeling pressured by the doctor and informed that they look like they fit. However, they hurt. He was probably doing his best. Either way, after I was spoken down to at the front desk, I returned both lenses. I do hope that you are reading this now Mr. Williams, and it is not out of revenge. Just keep in mind that one day, when you are suffering from extreme pain that God may grant you exactly what you sow in life. read more

This place saved my 10 year old daughter last week. After she broke her glasses. Not only did they fix her two pairs of glasses, they gave her an appointment with there amazing eye doctor. He was so kind and sweet with her, as this was not a pediatric eye Dr, you would of never knew! She also got a new pair of glasses we are picking up soon. So all good things! #1 on Staten Island. Best of the best! They squeezed me in for an emergency appointment (broke my only pair of glasses!). The staff was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and above all nice! Also, they clean everything and they clean often. Every time I turned around something else was being sanitized by a staff member. Truly an impressive operation during these difficult times. They worked with me to get me squared away with both glasses and a year supply of contact lenses. I had an eye exam by their wonderful Optometrist (Dr. Mike Zylinski). He is brilliant. They were busy between customers with appointments and walk-ins. However, their efficiency was on full display. Juggling all of the customers concerns and needs. The entire process could not have gone any smoother. In and out in less than an hour. That's with a very thorough eye exam. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years and this was by far the most in-depth exam I've received. I told them the types of frames I was considering and within a matter of minutes they had half a dozen options ready for me to try on. The best part I was expecting to wait 2 weeks for everything to come in... I got a text message within 3 days saying my entire order was ready! I feel like this is a total upgrade across the board. My only regret is I didn't come sooner. My prescription changed slightly so it really was a necessity I shouldn't have put off. The new lenses are fantastic. The new contact lenses are also amazing. Merjeme figured out the frames. Ryan figured out the special lenses and new brand of contact lenses. Great team! This place really is special. I had a very expensive pair of georgio armani prescription sunglasses that broke when a screw came out. I went there and they were fixed and anytime in had that same or any other problem there was the same man always ready to fix them until they were completely broken beyond repair. I stopped by for my driver license renewal eye exam . The staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. And they didn't try and sell me on anything else. The shop was super packed on a Tuesday afternoon...and two others very close by also on Victory were empty and couldn't even assist me as a walk in. I acquired my newest pair of glasses here and left very satisfied. The technician who took my insurance information was very friendly and helpful. He noticed that my street was one in the same that his grandmother lived on 20 years ago. Just one block away from me. The ophthalmologist was also efficient and had very nice doctor- patient etiquette. Once I had my prescription information the technician spent over 20 minutes with me as I tried on dozens and dozens of frames within my price range, both plastic and metal rimmed. I finally settled on a very elegant metallic Burgundy metal frame. I also chose to have the sun-shade clip-on as opposed to transition frames. My glasses came in one week and when I came in to pick them up and pay the remaining balance, the other technician said "my grandmother used to live on your street." Apparently the two assistants there are brothers. read more

Ok, in all honesty, this place really gets 2.5 stars from me, but obviously we don't have this option. I'm new to the Island so I tried this place out for new contacts. I thought the facade was really cute, and I liked that it was a local business that had good reviews. I went for my appointment, and was seen on time, and was impressed that the entire exam and consultation was less than 45 minutes and I was given a trial pair of contacts. What I didn't care for really was the lack of stylish options for glasses. Also, this sounds petty I know, but this annoyed me.....I have been wearing contacts for almost 20 years and every place I've gone to in the past, has always given the little sample bottles of contact lens solution with a case. This place does not. I went to pick up my contacts a week later and the girl put them in a bag but didn't offer me any solution even though she was standing right next to a whole bunch of boxes in the smaller sizes. YES i know this is something silly to be annoyed about, but it still bothered me. I won't be going back again, there are a lot of other options on the island and options are even better if you work in Manhattan during the week. read more

Obtaining my new eye glasses was made easy by the helpful staff and ever entertaining owner, Chris Williams. They worked with me patiently while I tried on the many options of eye glasses until I found the right one. The woman that assisted me was honest in her opinions of the different ones I tried on, and she was right. Normally dont write reviews but this place was so bad that I must. First of all, this is a sales shop not an optician. If you go to get your glasses or contacts they will charge you 2x what you can get elsewhere. I showed one of the sales people that I could get the same frames and contacts online for half the price. I got my contact lenses and glasses here. I would give it 5 stars, b/c the customer service is really good and the store is pretty clean. They also have a good selection of glasses you can choose from. Also if you get your contacts here, they will match the price from 1800contacts or where ever you get your contacts from. The big negative rant about this place is that the optometrist got my prescription way off. I had to bring my eyeglasses back because my vision was so blurry when I put it on. The staff there is really friendly and explain things to you when needed. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the doctor came late and I was left waiting for a bit. I've dealt with Williams Eye Works for about 6 years now. My eyeglasses were made very well, both frame and lenses. I know this because earlier I went to another, cheaper place and got the glasses I paid for. (Both frames and lenses were low quality.) Williams has a big, varied selection, instore and online. Their staff is very helpful. My cheap glasses from the other store needed to be readjusted and have small parts replaced about 4 times, and Williams' staff did those things for free, just because I was a long-ago customer. I have the means to afford much nicer glasses now and will do my business at Williams. They're the LL Bean of glasses - they make a lifetime customer of you through their caring customer service. read more
