WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! This is literally is my first review. I've never been super motivated to write a review...until now. My husband and I recently moved here and needed to get a new prescription for glasses. We have Optical Insurance and the first location that came up that accepts it was Optical Gallery. We were hoping to get glasses soon, but the first available appointment was over a week out, but we needed glasses and thought that was common here, so we made the appointment. When we got there we met with the Optometrist to have out eyes examined, got the new prescriptions, and started looking at frames. We were stunned when he told us that my glasses would cost $$695.20, AFTER insurance! And that was just for me! The total for both of us was over $1,200 out of pocket (his frames were a bit less than mine), and that was literally only for one pair of glasses for each of us, and clip on sunglasses for me. Then he told us it would be 5-6 WEEKS to get them back! We couldn't wait that long. My prescription alone was over 6 years old and I really needed a new pair of glasses ASAP. We decided to leave with the prescriptions to go check out Costco. Before we left the salesperson we were working with at Optical Gallery told us Costco wouldn't accept our insurance. But, we decided to try because we had to see if we could find someplace to get the glasses faster. We went to Costco and found frames we both loved (MUCH bigger selection there). We ended up each getting our glasses, and a pair of prescription sunglasses for a TOTAL, FOR BOTH OF US, of $484.93! Costco did take our insurance and we got extra off for buying two pairs! AND WE GOT THEM IN LESS THAN A WEEK!!! The guy there was wonderful and everything was amazing, until...we went to pick them up. The glasses looked great and mine were just perfect, but my husband's were not. He could see out of his right eye clearly, but his left eye was blurry. The gentleman at Costco checked them out and said that the prescription ordered matched the prescription they were given. He told us to go back to the Optometrist we saw to have him fix the prescription. My husband called Optical Gallery to explain what happened and to see when he could come back in to have the prescription fixed, and the woman that answered said it would be a week before the Dr was available, and we would have to pay for the visit entirely out of pocket!! After re-explaining several times that this was an error by the Optometrist, she still said we would be required to pay for another appointment to fix the prescription that the Optometrist got wrong!!! We are absolutely livid and blown away by the idea that they would charge us for their mistake! Needless to say, we will NEVER, EVER GO BACK TO THAT PLACE AGAIN! We are just going to go back to Costco and pay for them get him the correct prescription (which we shouldn't have to pay for, but the insurance will only pay for 1 visit a year). Please don't waste your time or money at this horrible business. Update 2/13/19: Just saw the owner's comments on our review and I had to say something. The reason we are so upset is regardless of why the left eye isn't clear, all we wanted was a quick re-examine of the eye to determine why the prescription wasn't right, so my husband could get his glasses fixed. Instead, we were told by the receptionist that it would be a week to be looked at again, and it would cost $30 for his "time". The serious lack of customer service is why we are so angry over this incident. It doesn't matter that we only paid a $10 co-pay because insurance covered the rest. Something is wrong with the prescription, and we just wanted to get it fixed, that is it. This response is truly uncalled for. The only thing we did is ask to be seen to get it corrected. The owner's response (FYI he did this to other people that reviewed the business negatively also), is exactly why we will never go there, nor recommend this business to anyone. read more

I got a pair of beautiful Matsuda frames and they surpassed my expectations, but the staff and the store surpassed those expectations even more. Very clean, beautiful environment and very informed staff members. The gentleman who assisted me did not rush me and even helped me choose out the best looking glasses based of questions he asked me. The front desk people are also very kind and helpful, too. On top of very awesome staff at the store, the glasses I got arrived earlier than expected. Dr. Lampert has been our family optometrist for awhile. He is professional and personable. The reason this review has a five-star rating is because of Jenny Mai. She is very knowledgable and professional and she helped me with every aspect of choosing my new glasses. She answered every question I had thoroughly. She was patient and pleasant and helped me find a great pair within my insurance allowance and budget. I've been going to this guy for 15 years. If you have legitimate concerns he talks down to you and walks away. For instance, he moved from his location to the new. I had to go to eye master for insurance purposes changed by this guys company. Eye master gave me contacts and told me that I needed bifocals to read near. Eye Masters gave me contacts and instantly made it so I can't read near. Yet I had contacts and glasses from Optical Gallery that I could still put in and read near. I told my wife to schedule and apptmnt and I didn't care about money. I told this eye doctor who has always treated me like shit what I was going through. He did the same exact shit he does everytime. As I was explaining to him that I still had glasses and contacts that he had prescribed years before...and I could see close and far.. He just walked away from me, treating me like shit, like he always has, and moaned, you can't see near and far because you need bifocals. I still have the glasses that YOU prescribed me ten years ago and I can still see far and near with them! Want to wager? You treated me like shit, but do your customers know you're as good as a cheap oil change company that wants to scam people? $ years later I am still reading far and near while you tried to humiliate me as if I don't know my own eyes and I need bifocals. You know who I am, I challenge you to prove I need bifocals while I am wearing the glasses you prescribed me 10 years ago and can read far and near atm. read more

Optical Gallery Arizona is an one of the most pristine places to get your fashionable eye wear. Dr. Lampert was very funny and personable. He explained things to me and educated me on some of the major relations to your eyes and health. The staff was very friendly and made me feel like I wasn't just purchasing a pair of glasses that they wanted me to buy, but rather something that will look great and be practical for my day to day comings! Optical Gallery of Arizona has an excellent staff and state-of-the-art equipment for eye exams. If anything, they were overstaffed on a Saturday and they managed to book an appointment for me when every other optometrist was full. The optometrist and staff were very professional and friendly and the interior is very nice. Unlike the first review by Phillip L., my eye exam was only $10 with my insurance. They did offer an additional piece of technology to examine my eyes, but you can just pass if your eyes are generally healthy. The selection of frames included high-quality frames that seemed to be carefully chosen for customers looking for a refined product. All this said, I highly recommend this business! read more

I have been going to Optical gallery since I was a child. Doc has always taken the best of care of me! For awhile I had to switch eye doctors (due to insurance issues only ) to another one off Greenway and 59th ave or so and hated going there everytime. While I attended that location I had to deal with infections and a miserable front desk lady. Thankfully I was able to go back to Optical Gallery and go back to seeing Doc again. He always make sure my eyes are fully taken care of and the girls at the front are sweet and are fun outgoing ladies. I live in Litchfield Park Az and I still make the drive to 35th and Happy valley to attend this facility. I'm sad to see the bad reviews I recommend Optical Gallery to everyone. read more

My whole family has gone here since we moved to AZ 3 years ago. Dr. Lampert and his staff are great, especially with my daughter. They fitted her with glasses and contacts and her headaches are gone. She is still in elementary school but they were so patient. The team are happy to tighten and adjust frames and always accommodate my schedule. Staff is super friendly and helpful, Dr. Lampert is also great and a fellow New Yorker :) Both times I've been here I was seen promptly and was well taken care of. Dr. Lampert made sure I had the right prescription for both my contacts and glasses, and he answered any questions I had. Great experience, I had an eye infection from me poorly cleaning my hands when outdoors and handling my contact lenses. Dr Lampert agreed to see me as I was an existing contact lens customer instead of trying to send me to my medical doctor or an eye specialist. He offered a very reasonably priced fee for the diagnosis and medication prescription for the treatment as my vision insurance did not cover medical treatment, and I would need to see my general practitioner to use my medical insurance. After dealing with this twice in one year, Dr Lampert convinced me to move to Daily contacts which has been great. With his guidance, I was paying minimally more with my insurance for Daily's compared to what I previously paid for Monthly contacts. I would recommend Dr Lampert. read more

The customer service I received last year was impeccable when I had to deal with an odd allergy to certain frames. I'm writing this review a year later because I decided to go back to my old eye doctor because I actually haven't been able to wear my eye glasses that I purchased there. I had a hard time seeing and I just thought maybe my eyes changed again. I went to my eye doctor who examined the glasses I was wearing that I purchased 2 yrs ago from someone else and then the ones purchased from here. The astigmatism correction for my left eye was completely wrong. I asked my new eye doc if this could have been an error by the lens maker. She states it was likely an error in the prescription. I also asked if this could have been a change in vision: she explained that was not likely because my astigmatism correction is only a small difference and what was on my lenses is way too different. My daughter's astigmatism correction was way off as well she said which my daughter doesn't know how to communicate if her glasses were wrong. With that said - I'm sure if I would have realized this earlier they would have made a correction. The customer service was great as I stated above. A year has past so I am likely just stuck with very expensive glasses that I will never wear. I saw another person comment their script was wrong. So this feedback is really for informational purposes for the provider. It is likely the issue may lie in something specific in the exam process that could be approved upon as it doesn't sound like this is every person's experience. Maybe it is specific to astigmatism correction. It was a hard decision to decide not to come back with the selection and service overall; however it was also hard to try a new place when I have gone to the other provider for 10yrs read more

I went to get my new glasses and prescription February 25th (Sat). They had another Dr, not Dr Lambert, take my appointment. Frames seem pricey, but I have VSP insurance, so that help me cover the cost of frames and lenses. When I picked them up last week, I let the lady at front know that my right eye prescription seemed way too strong for me. She asked me to keep them for 2 weeks! I have had problems where my left eye starts getting teary eyed and my right eye seems to have a sore since I started wearing the new glasses. They also give me a headache. But apparently I have to wait more than 2 weeks to get my prescription fixed. I have been wearing glasses for more than 20 years and never felt like this before even when my prescription changed. I hope I can get a resolution with them in the near future, but won't go there for my yearly checkup again. read more

BEST glasses experience I have ever had. There are few things as difficult for me than finding a pair of glasses that look good on my face. Miles and Taren made that process SO much fun, and so easy (for me)! Step-by-step, Miles brought endless different frames to figure out what style I needed, for a whole hour. That is incredible customer service. The exam was also so impressive. I have worn glasses/contacts for over a decade, so I've seen countless eye doctors. Yet the woman eye doctor who did my exam was so knowledgable, humble, and thorough - she was the first doctor ever to find out I had a slight stigmatism in one eye that has made it difficult to focus for years. Was bad karma from the minute I walked in. Not friendly. Good help is clearly hard to find. Ended up leaving as it became very complicated for a script only exam. I have a MD that treats another condition and have had a full exam but did not include prescription. Brought medical records with me. Said they needed to call dr. But is not open on Sat. AMAZING! I could not believe how great this experience was! Its very rare that I end up paying less than expected for something. The frame selection is very large and they carry a high quality product. I got there a little early for my appointment (which I scheduled same day) and the staff helped me pick out some frames before I went in for the exam. The doctor was very friendly and made what seemed like a very intimidating process a breeze. Everyone was so friendly and the environment was top notch. I have never needed glasses before, so my first optometrist appointment ever. The Doctor was very personable and pleasant. The exam with the Dr. took literally less than 3 minutes. (maybe normal?). The staff however was quite a different experience (with the exception of one gentleman who was very professional and welcoming). The optician's time with me choosing a frame felt more like buying a car. Yes, I am picky about my style, but she was in no hurry and after spending almost an hour with her and no questions about cost of lenses from me were answered. "We will get to that part in a bit" she said. It was apparent she was going to be working all day by how slow she moved. I am all for a business that wants to take the time with their clients, but this was extreme and my time is valuable. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but after reading so many positive ones and so many responses about "the staff bending over backwards" I felt the need to share. In no way did I feel like the staff (again with the exception of the young man working there) bent over anything for me. Honestly, I felt like I was in their way. I was not given an actual paper for prescription (wanted to show my family who all wear glasses) and when I called to request a copy I was told scanner was down. I requested a prescription mailed and received it promptly in the mail. Constructive criticism would be for from desk staff to look away from their computers and show some genuine interest in the customers. Also, maybe a heads up that the appointment and choosing lenses and frames could take more than 30-60 min? (at least ask the pt how long they have to spend with them at the time of the appointment). read more

Hands down the best optical shop I've ever been to. They have an incredible selection of high-end boutique frames that are leading and ahead of the current fashion trends. It is not your typical shop with the same old designer brands that are licensed and made in China that break in a week. The Dr. Lampert is a veteran and great patient manner. His optician (I think it's David) has been at it for decades as well. I've always had problems getting my lenses made properly as I my eyes are a bit of a challenge. I've been to Costco, Lenscrafters, and other shops that seem to take 2-3 tries to get my prescription and fitting properly. Optical Gallery has this camera that takes a picture of your eye measurements while you are wearing the frames you pick out. Then the Optician measures the old-school way just to be sure. I started going to OGAZ when they opened at their old location and now that I live out of state, I still make it a point to have my eyes checked annually by Dr. Lampert and shop for new frames when I travel to the Phoenix area. If you looking for great for the price of good, this is the place. If you are looking for crappy for price of cheap cheap, then stick to Walmart or Costco Optical. The reviews I read below that were poor were definitely from the Walmart/Lenscrafters customer. And there's nothing wrong with that. My eyes are important to me and as a professional male, glasses are one of the few ways to make an impression in the corporate world. Like jewelry for your face! read more

I have relied on Optical Gallery for 10 years for myself and my whole family. I love Dr. Lampert. He is true professional and exceptional at his work. I have never had a problem with my prescription. I prefer multi focal contact lenses which can be tricky to get right and he was always accommodating ensuring that everything was it was the best it could possibly be. He has a beautiful shop with really nice frames. But I have still been able to get glasses that are 100% covered by insurance. Not the best, but in budget. And I have gotten some really nice expensive frames that are fabulous and after 2 years still look brand new. I love that they are a small local business. It's so nice to have them in our mall. Really great staff and team to help you look fabulous. They can do it all but be sure and let them know your budget and expected time frame needed in advance so they can help you get what you love at a price you can afford in a timeframe that works for you. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences here. I had never worn glasses or contacts before my first appointment and I was somewhat apprehensive about the process. The staff was super friendly and made me feel comfortable and at ease. Every test was explained to me and the doctor took the time to answer my questions and go over my results. By the end I was excited to try on different glasses and find the right pair for me. They have a wide selection and Taryn, one of the staff, was so sweet and assured me I wasn't being a bother even after requesting to try on 50 or so different glasses. Once they arrived, which was only about a week and a half later, I put them on for the first time I was blown away. I'm sure that speaks for the fact that I needed glasses pretty bad but it was nice seeing the staff and doctor all celebrating with me. It really felt like they were happy for me and cared about the difference it would make in my daily life. A few months later I decided to get contacts as well for hiking and cycling. Again, I had never worn contacts so I had no real knowledge of what to expect or how to put them in, take them out, replace them, etc. They went over everything with me several times and helped me learn how to use them. There is a learning curve with that and they were very patient the whole time. I got my first pair and had a trial period. I came back in and told the doctor I thought they were OK but kind of uncomfortable and I chalked it up to that's just the way contacts are. He told me they have numerous brands and that he wanted me to feel absolutely comfortable with them. He was committed to finding the right fit for me. It took some time but once I found the right ones it made a world of difference. In short, I would recommend this office to anyone that is looking for a personable experience with a staff and doctor that take their time and want to get to know their patients. read more

I was given the wrong script for years, had contacts tear right out of the box, and was a hassle to get them to replace until 5 other clients had the exact same thing happen. I recently visited Optical Gallery for new contact lenses and glasses. I have a tricky stigmatism that has always been difficult to work with for other optometrists, but the Dr. was able to get the right glasses and contact lenses that work for me. I purchased two new sets of frames after three years with my old glasses, but I had trouble adjusting to the new prescription, and I ended up needing an adjustment to my prescription and new lenses. They had both frames fixed quickly with no questions asked. I always know when a company has great service when they are willing to help solve my problems without giving me grief. Upon entering there store the lil short grey haired gentlemen met me at the cashier desk as the girls handed me an envelope with (what a check in it) you all refused to accept my business check from my Llc corporation that does well over 450000.00 gross revenue per week, but expect me to accept yours so I politely told them my policy is I do not accept checks, well they got mad and the short grey haired gentlemen proceeded to call me a fu&$@:()" loser in front of his staff, the only thing good about the whole thing is there was no one else in his business that could here him say it but I did hit the record button on my iPhone 6plus since he commented that my review was slanderous.. I was happy when I saw an eyeglass center close to home and happier when I saw the large selection they had, but that has been overshadowed by my experiences with this place. I had an eye exam and purchased eyeglasses. After wearing my new glasses for over a week and "trying to adjust" the bottom line was I couldn't see with my new glasses. When I took them back and explained my issue (wearing my old glasses so I could see) I was scolded by one of their staff for wearing my old glasses. This was done loudly and in front of customers and staff alike. She then looked at my new glasses and the rx on the form and said they were right. I had to repeatedly explain that how could they be right if I could not see with them! After being kept waiting around for some resolution (and watching the doctor walking back and forth and totaling ignoring me or my situation) I asked for a refund. I was told I couldn't get one because the glasses were custom made for me. I pointed out that if that is the case why can't I see out of them. Finally, I got another eye exam and new rx being put in the glasses. I haven't picked them up yet, so wish me luck! Bottom line, very poor customer service! Don't go there! read more

How lucky was I that I was at my gym and saw this store. I had just had an eye exam the week before so it was time to get some new bifocals. Went into the store and saw the beautiful displays of top high-end eyeglasses. The manager (Myles) gave me a tour and was very patient while I tried on a zillion frames. Once I chose the right one for me, he explained that it would take 6 weeks to get the glasses; that was a shock until he explained the difference between cheap glasses and awesome glasses. There are no cheap glasses here but once they came in (under 6 weeks) and fitted them to my face, I could see the difference between the glasses here and those at the cheaper outlets. With bifocals, the transition from seeing far away and up close was done seamlessly and had better gradiation. The lenses are specially treated and done digitally which is a different process than just making a lens. I saw another pair I liked a lot when I picked up my glasses and ordered them too and they came in within a few weeks. The staff are very personable and I didn't have to wait long at all. This will be my store for new, different and exciting eyewear. read more
