I am so very happy and lucky I stumbled upon Magdy Mina and Optical Pro! I'm a frequent customer of the Nissan dealership next door and so I was already familiar with his shop being there. However, it was not until I was given a referral list of eyeglass shops from my son's pediatric optometrist that I realized Magdy and his shop do it all! After calling many other establishments on the list and obtaining various quotes as well as being told I would have to have my son make an appointment even to be further evaluated I felt exasperated and started running out of hope. Awesome! Optical Pro does not exist without Magdy. This review is about him but also for the people who need him. Magdy just gets it, and he does it all with a smile! Magdy has a fantastic selection of frames, a great lab and over 40 years of experience and service that is priceless. Fast turnaround too. He is also a master at adjusting glasses. He will do whatever it takes to help you. This is long but hopefully worth reading for anyone who has struggled like I have for years to get glasses. I have a very complicated prescription with a lot of prism. I thought finally finding a good doctor with a good lab would be enough. Turns out getting frames to put the doctor's prescription into ended up being almost impossible. The frame had to be a certain size, shape, and bridge. I looked everywhere, even ended up getting bespoke (custom) and retrofit children's prototype frames in Canada (I'm 57) and had almost given up on finding frames that could work until I walked into Optical Pro. I explained my situation to Magdy and he quickly pulled frames off the wall that fit and looked great. I have no mid-range vision (distance and reading glasses only) so even with glasses on it is difficult for me to shop for frames. Magdy is the only person who had the patience and expertise, or cared, to give me the extensive help I needed with frame selection. My new lined bifocals and readers were ready in about two weeks during the pandemic, not two months like my doctor's office quoted even for "normal" prescriptions. I went back and ordered more. I have five pairs of glasses from Optical Pro. One of them is a wire frame with progressive lenses. Other opticians refused to even try to make glasses with my Rx in a wire frame, let alone progressives in any frame. If you're reading reviews because you need glasses, you've just found your answer. Optical Pro is SO much better than the competition, five stars are not enough. After looking at several of the corporately owned major suppliers, I settled on one (name withheld). The price was fair, the people were great, and I bought them. On delivery there were problems. Taking their advice that I needed to "get used to them" I started wearing them. I thought it was me, but I couldn't get used to them. They re-made them, but I still didn't like them. That's when I changed my search criteria and found Optical Pro. They are not a big corporately owned vendor, but instead are a one-man operation where you deal directly with a pro! Magdy, the owner, takes a totally different approach. He doesn't start with "pick your frame". Instead, he talks to you. He asks what you're looking for, asks questions about previous experiences, and wants to know all about your needs. Then, he checked the glasses I was about to return, and did an eye exam. He did all this without charging me anything! After gathering all the information he needed to make a (smart) decision, he offered a solution. He'd make a pair of glasses for me while I waited - about 15 minutes. Now, I'm getting nervous. What's this going to cost? "There'll be no charge for this temporary pair", and If I decide to buy from him he'll supply two pairs of glasses for just a few dollars more than I paid for the one pair that didn't work from the corporate company. The minute I put them on the difference was remarkable! I no longer got dizzy, everything was in focus, and I loved them. They didn't have the specialized coatings I needed, but they worked! Magdy explained that the glasses I ordered would have coatings to make night driving easier and would generally be better. A week later he delivered both pairs and they are fantastic! I can't describe the difference they made, but I love them and am SO thankful I drove 40 minutes to get them. Not only are they optically correct, Magdy customized the fit so they're comfortable and they feel very light. The difference between these glasses and the ones I returned is so great, that I can't imagine going anywhere else next time. Conclusion: They work better, fit better, and are less expensive. He had his ophthalmologist do a full eye exam then Magdy helped me pick out a nice pair of glasses that fit my face and explained he would make the lens shape fit the new glass I picked out. So I'm a professional actor and I'm from New Jersey. I am currently on a contract which took me around the United States. Yesterday, in Indianapolis, where I was with my group, someone stole my beautiful, brand-new pair of glasses. This left me blind. I've been to about a couple dozen vision centers since I had my eye exam several months ago. I was looking for very specific frames that I would be happy with for 2-3 years. Every place I went to did not have what I was looking for. I wanted small frames with a subtle yet elegant design but everything now is so big and flashy. Also, I was told that rimless frames would not be best for me due to my lens prescription. That all changed when I came here. First of all, Magdy was very helpful from the get-go. He immediately knew what I was looking for and reached into his backstock of frames to help me. He already had more selections than any other place I went to. However, I was looking for something more expensive and premium than what was offered. I had my eye on the rimless frames, and I mentioned that I would love to have those but was told by everyone that the thickness of my prescription would not look right on me. That notion was immediately dispelled by Magdy, when he showed me his own frames and told me that he can make the lenses very thin to suit my preferences. In the end, I went with the Silhouette frames and he not only gave me a good price with my insurance, by also said he would cut the lenses himself to my preferred size instead of sending them out to a lab. I got them in less than a week and couldn't be happier. They are super light and stylish, and they fit the shape of my face perfectly. I look forward to wearing them for the years to come. A nice waiting area for your friend or accompaniment to sit and wait patiently. The eye exam took about 20 minutes. The doctor is an outsourced friend of the owner but judging by his technique and demeanor and dress, he knows what he is doing to the most degree. Wish I had discovered Optical Pro and Dr. Magdy Mina years ago. Recently I had an eye exam there with Dr. Lylani, then Magdy helped me select new frames which in the past has been a tedious process. I have never had an Optician provide such personalized service. He is very knowledgeable about his wide inventory of frames and was able to select several options that fit my needs. After hearing about my past fitting problems, especially since wearing hearing aids, he was able to determine exactly what I needed. Magdy is truly one of a kind and my glasses were ready ahead of schedule (supposed to of taken 4-5 days, he called back in 2) and were better than expected (fitted perfectly and there was no awkward difference in vision you get with most new glasses). On top of all that, he's replacing my old lenses in my previous pair to the current prescription free of charge (normally 175 dollar charge).
