I have been a LensCrafters customer for about 20 years and have bought so many (very expensive) glasses. Up until now the pice was with it- but now- NOPE . I went in almost 3 weeks ago and ordered lenses to be put in my glasses with the new prescription (I saw the LensCrafters Dr who was awesome). I have not heard anything about my order so I tried calling the Downers Grove , IL store for 2 days in a row to find out the status of the glasses I paid for. I get a recording that they are busy and someone will call me within 2 business days... WHAT? That's crazy! Then I finally got someone to answer because I called about 30 times before someone answered. She said they were busy and that someone would call me back when they are done.... No one called me back. I just want to know when I can pick up my glasses... I can't see! Terrible customer service! read more

I have been a patient of LensCrafters Downers Grove for 27 years. I have bought a year's supply of contact lens every year for 27 years plus new bifocals every 2 to 3 years. That is why I was so surprised today (3/29/2025) when I was sent away when I asked to see the doctor for a misplaced contact in my right eye. I was willing to wait and did not intend to displace any other patients. I was told by the receptionist (don't know her name) that the doctor could not see me. She did not ask the doctor, she just dismissed me. I have had this problem before and was able to see the doctor. I will not be back to LensCrafters. Purchased the eye protection plan. When my son's frames broke, we went to have it replaced using the protection plan, they told us that it was canceled few hours after we bought it. We never canceled it. We told them that if we ever cancelled it, how come we were never reimbursed back? I have the original copy of my receipt. The staff was not helpful at all, almost dismissing us. All they told us was they will follow- up with their corporate. They never called us back. We never got our money back. How can it be cancelled and they never gave us our money back that we paid for the protection plan. We checked our credit card that we used, we never got credited. This is so sad, we've been using this place for a long time and for our whole family. I always buy protection plan and this is the first time I will ever use it and this what happened. This will be the only time I will ever get my glasses from Lenscrafters. I first went to the Oakbrook location which I thought was fine until I realized the sales people really didn't help me pick out the correct glasses for me. I then went to the Lombard location and they were helpful until I went to pick up my glasses. The order was wrong. They re-ordered the glasses that I returned yet they all looked at me like I was talking non-sense. I rather order glasses online from now on. At least I know what I'll be getting. read more

I've had such a great experience here. The dr I got to do my eye exam was very nice and patient and everything and helped in explaining things. Same goes for choosing my glasses. I got the same girl everytime I went and I wish I knew her name cause she was the best. She helped in picking out my glasses and explaining the different lenses and everything. Check your new lenses for scratches.Took them 4 tries to make my lenses without having a scratch on them, 6 trips total. Unbelievably frustrating experience. One woman working there insinuated it was me that scratched my lenses even though it was clear she scratched them while she struggled to replace the original scratched lenses. She also bent my frame arms out of shape when all I asked was for a small minor adjustment. After putting my glasses on I told her they seemed to be angled down now and she replied "oh i didn't do that. that's not from me". I then had to wait until my schedule synced up with the only competent employee there so he could install my lenses correctly without damaging him. He was also able to fix my frame which he noticed was practically falling off my face after another employee haphazardly bent them out of shape. On my 6th trip returning to the store he installed the 3rd pair of lenses. I held them up to the light and instantly saw a hairline scratch that stretched the entire right lens. He went in the back and made me a new pair and those finally did not have a large noticeable scratch. To recap. I purchased eyeglasses. It took me returning to the store 5 extra times and 4 total pairs of lenses until they gave me a pair that did not have a visible scratch. Not once did any of the 4 employees I dealt with apologize to me for this major inconvenience. One employee in particular damaged my eyeglasses, bent my frame out of shape and instead of apologizing insinuated it was somehow my fault. For all my trouble they told me i would get a $50 credit that i never received and had to call back a month later to get it. My experience with this Lenscrafters has been extremely disappointing and I will never be doing business with them again. I advise you avoid this location. read more

Note: I had to select a star to post this review... NO STARS. Yeah that's right. When did Luxottica receive a license to steal? I have been a customer for over 20 years. I cannot remember how many pairs I have purchase from them. A few months ago I went to my optician and then went to Cathy to get new glasses with vision insurance. Every pair was $500 or above out of pocket. Neither Cathy or anyone else could explain the cost. I have purchased a new pair of brand name glasses with all the bells and whistles for 60% less elsewhere. I will not use Lenscrafters again. Lenscrafters/Luxottica has no respect for their customers. I had my first eye exam at this location today. Dr. Rachna Patel was phenomenal!!! I loved her positive and friendly energy. She was extremely knowledgeable about eye health as well. My appointment went smoothly and was pretty fast. Upon arrival, I was greeted by both people (a gentleman and a young lady, I didn't catch their names). They were both friendly and helpful as well. I made an appointment for my husband to go as well. I will definitely return. They had a nice selection of eye glasses as well at moderate pricing. read more

Exam portion with Dr. Anderson was five stars. She was extremely professional, quick, and engaged. I highly recommend her. She said she also works out of other locations. Sales team. . .two stars. Just know that the sales teams is going to try to upsell you on everything from the start even with insurance. Know what you want and stick to it. Once I worked my way through the upsell, everything went fine. Will update if the glasses I got from them aren't great. read more

I am so done with this "fashion forward" excuse for an optometry office. Stay Away if you want accurate! My family of 6 has gone to this place on and off for 10 years (this is where our insurance company leads us!) and EVERY SINGLE TIME...they send us out with wrong prescription lenses or wrong size frame! So in addition to it being such a long drawn out affair just to pick your eye frames/lenses out, the process is prolonged to correct their mistakes!!! And corporate makes no apologies! This place is pretty bad. I got a pair of prescription sunglasses (after getting my prescription from another optometrist). First, the ordering process was unnecessarily confusing, with them offering me deals that were not relevant (because I had insurance, and the "deals" wouldn't save me money). Second, they deliberately sent the wrong frames because they ran out of the ones I ordered. What's worse is that they didn't tell me, apparently hoping I wouldn't notice. Third, their offers to mitigate the error left me with very few choices -- and plenty of lost time. Fourth, the lenses came loose within 45 days. I brought them back in - but too bad -- they're out of warranty after 30 days. read more

Great news, fellow Yelpers! If you want a place that sells outdated frames like Jeremy Renner wore in the movie "Dahmer", then this is the place for you! Don't be afraid of all the dust between the display columns, demo frames so smudged/dirty/slightly sticky that you seriously have to wonder just how hygienic it would be to put them on your face, and the apathetic sales associates. Don't be afraid, like we were!! Seriously - we walked in, looked around for about 5 minutes, and walked right back out. My husband may not have the best vision insurance (like I do), but that doesn't mean he is limited to wearing ugly glasses that make him look like a serial killer. And while cleanliness (or lack of) is not something that should be an issue in a place like this, trust me, it was. read more

This place isn't the worst place ever to go for your eye care. I mean, they didn't poke me in the eye or anything. Beyond that though, this place is not good even by other Lens Crafters standards. The service is fast (which was nice when I needed new contacts RIGHT THEN) but that's about it that's good. The frames that are affordable are mostly blah, and a lot of them all look the same and like cool glasses from 2002. When I was getting a new RX I asked them to put my new lenses in my old frames and they said it wasn't a problem. Then, when I went to pick my new glasses up, they had broken them. The sales guy made it sound like my fault because apparently plastic frames get brittle as they age and can't have new lenses put in after a few years. I didn't know that, and I wasn't going to pay for them breaking my glasses. I had to argue with the sales guy to talk to a manager who gave me free frames. That was nice, I still have them, and after awhile I did start to like them, plus they were free so hey, whatever I guess. I wouldn't recommend coming here though, there are SO many other place s to go. read more

This Downers Grove, IL Lenscrafters rocked my world in an awesome way! They are the top level of great customer care. It all began with my phone conversation with Dakota. She is so kind and knowledgeable and what's more, she's willing and ready to create a beautiful experience. Once my husband and I arrived to the location we were greeted by Dakota. Then, Maria took me into her care and treated me like a princess. She showed such friendliness and professionalism. I began to feel at ease. I finally was handed over to Dr. Santucci. I wish that I met her years ago. Dr. Santucci really listened to my concerns. She showed such compassion and care for me as a person. She explained so many things about my eyes/health that I never knew, but that I need to know. They all worked with my insurance and made extremely helpful suggestions. Their patience is unreal. I stopped going to this Lenscrafters 2 years ago (was a former 5 yr customer) because I was sick of their scams - paying sky high prices. I went to Visionworks instead about a year ago and had no problems. They were super nice, honest, and the prices- you can't beat. I tried Lenscrafters again because Visionworks was no longer under my vision plan. My eye exam went fine. I really liked the Doctor who was nice, my problem is with the Sharky "Sales Team". I can't even list all the extra things they charged me for. I had to keep asking them what each charge was for and they still didn't explain everything. They are not honest. They automatically charged me the Premium prices which were not even covered by my insurance! My insurance only covers standard options which she didn't even go over with me. I found out later they overcharged me when I saw the receipt and it had Premium for everything. Also, they charged me $40 for one part of the exam that was optional (but they failed to tell me that, I had to ask). I feel like I was going around in circles with the salesperson, wasting my time and energy. I wanted to keep my current frames but needed a new prescription for my glasses and sunglasses. They kept insisting that it would be cheaper if I bought new frames so I agreed to get the new sunglasses only because I really like my current glasses. My bill ended up being $625!!! Yea, some savings. Plus, my glasses wouldn't be ready for 2 weeks! Visionworks was same day!! Luckily, I was able to get a full refund back. Even then, they had a passive-aggressive attitude. She REFUSED to give me my original receipt back which had the exam that I paid for on it, even though I was refunded everything else. What!?!? Very UNPROFESSIONAL. When I make returns, I ALWAYS get the original receipt back. I have no proof that I paid for the exam now, it was only $10 with my insurance so I didn't fret but that was the icing on the cake. I will NEVER return to this location again. In fact, my whole experience with this place turned me off from all Lenscrafter's. read more

I was really pretty disappointed all around when I visited this LensCrafters for a vision appointment this past fall. The staff was nice enough, but the doctor just absolutely insisted on doing things his way or the highway. One thing that irked me early on was how up-selly this place was. They tried to get me to have an upgraded screening that wasn't covered by my insurance. I asked if it was at all necessary and they told me it was not. That seemed pretty shady to me. See, I suffer from migraines and have since I was a teenager. Back when an optometrist discovered I required a corrective sphere in my lenses for my astigmatism, I realized the spherical correction triggers my migraines. Ever since then whenever I get glasses I have to request that they take that correction off my prescription. But the doctor here wouldn't hear of it. He insisted that if I got lenses, that the correction be on them, saying that if he did not put it on, he would not be doing his job properly. So I walked out and never ordered glasses from them. And I recommend that if you have any issues such as mine you might want to rethink where you have your screening done as well. read more

I was surprised to see so many bad reviews on this place. I walked in without an appointment and was seen right away by Dr. Z. I opted to have the full exam which included a check for glaucoma and showed your overall eye health. My insurance covered the majority of my visit, which was nice. I found frames that suited me, but it's not an overwhelmingly large selection from which to choose. Overall, good experience. I would go back and recommend. read more

There are family of 6 for us that been going here for years. I called today if I can get my husband's prescription emailed to us. I was told they don't do email but they can fax it. Well, we got rid of our fax machine. So, I guess we have no options but to find another optometry for our family. Dr. Zlevor, a.k.a. Dr. Z, did my eye exam and fitted me with a pair of multi focal contact lenses. Now, I don't need to use reading glasses. Yay! Plus, these contact lenses were the most comfortable contact lenses that I have ever worn, and I have been a contact lens wearer for 40 years. The Lenscrafters sales consultant Dragana was very helpful to me in selecting a pair of eyeglasses, as a backup plan for the contact lenses, that were the right look and fit for me. I have no fashion sense. Lol. read more

I went to this location for the first time and was pleased with my visit. My Dr and Maria were friendly, professional, and timely. I was able to have my exam and contacts ordered and was out the door an hour after my appointment. This is the worst LensCrafters. I arrived there and there were only 2 people working. The lady told me about 15 minutes. About five more people came in after me and I had already waited about 45 minutes and they took in people that came in after me. Rude and worst customer service ever. I wish I would have read the reviews of this location before going. I will go to an actual Dr.s office after this experience. I kind of felt like I was at a Jiffy Lube where I was being scammed to spend more money. They got me in right away which was nice, but right away they started running the money meter. I was told that my eye exam would be $59 w/ my insurance b/c my insurance company doesn't cover their "comprehensive exam". I said no thank you, I will just have the regular exam. Fine. I get into the room w/ the exam doctor, I know my eye sight isn't great, but I also know that I'm not legally blind. Finally, after about 45 minutes of adjusting the viewing lens the Dr. asked me if I've ever been told if I have a lazy eye! Excuse me, no, I think you can see perfectly fine while looking at me that I do not have a lazy eye. After insulting me, he finally found a lens position that suited my eye sight. After writing my Rx for my new lenses, he urged me to do the rest of the "comprehensive" exam. I asked him what it can detect and the Dr. said anything from minor injuries of the eye to defects caused by Diabetes. (After having my mother pass away at an early age I get very apprehensive with doctors and want to do anything and everything that will detect irregularities). Grudgingly I agreed to the "Comprehnsive" exam, after a good 50 minutes of squinting into the viewing lens, my eyes were very strained. The new exam called for taking a picture of my eye, but the tech couldn't seem to get a good angle and flashed the light directly in my eyes a good 5-7 times leaving my eyes even more strained. After another test where I was supposed to focus on an object for peripheral vision testing. I told the tech I was having a hard time with the testing because of all the strain that had previously been put on my eyes, she said it shouldn't effect anything. I get done with all my testing and the doctor says there is scarring on my eye, ok so what does that mean, he said "Well it could be from a previous injury as a child, cancer or anything inbetween" CANCER, really? And then suggested more tests (More money).....finally w/ a very bad head ache and being very fed up, I said no and asked to finish my Rx and go. BAD EXPERIENCE.....think twice before spending your money here. Take the time to go to a real doctors office. read more

The Doctor was fantastic. My 9 year old daughter suffers from severe anxiety, so any kind of examination is very trying for everybody. The Doctor gave her the exam and determined that we needed to follow up with a dilation (something we usually skip because it's traumatic for my daughter). It took about an hour for me to convince my daughter to allow the doctor to put the drops in. The Doctor continued to check on our progress in between patients and when we were finally ready, she moved quickly and with great kindness and patience. In the mean time, the staff and all the people who cared for us along the way (specifically Carol) were so patient, helpful and kind. Raising a child with these issues is never easy, and often leaves our family feeling exhausted, frustrated and embarrassed (people don't understand what they are seeing). We were able to receive a through and complete exam, our first ever!! Our experience at this store was nothing short fantastic. These employees preformed in a way that was over and above what was expected of them! read more

While the people here are nice, I must say the process in which they take care of customers is frustrating. I went in for an exam back in February and ordered glasses. They asked me if I wore contacts and I said yes. In fact I had to take them out of my eyes to get the exam. Fast forward 5 months, and I attempt to order a 6 month supply of contacts through Vision Direct. Vision Direct needs to verify the prescription, so I give Lens Crafter's info. LC denies the order. So I call LC and ask them to send the info to VD. LC says I need to sign a waiver. Fine. Still gets denied. So I call LC again to ask why. They say they'll do it right away. Never gets done. So finally I take time out of my day to physically go to LC and ask them to write out my prescription (which was current because I had gotten it in Feb.) so I could fax it myself. LC explains that cannot happen because I was not fitted for contacts in Feb. I would need to schedule another appointment to get fitted. This extra appointment of course was not covered by insurance ($50) and would require me to come back. Again. I reschedule and visit the doctor. Now- let me preface that while I am not a Doctor- I am 31 years old and have been wearing contacts for 15 years. The Doctor performed the same exam as in Feb. Nothing different happened in August than in Feb. The only difference was that I had to come back and pay $50. I expressed to the manager that I didn't understand why when I was in there in Feb. ((and wearing contacts)) that they didn't mark whatever box on their spreadsheet that said I wear contacts. There was really no explanation. I would suggest picking another Lens Crafters if you value your time. read more

Horrible experience. I have gone here many times, for both glasses and contacts. I went on 7/31 for a new Rx for contacts, which I order thru 1800CONTACTS (cheaper, better service, delivered right to my door !). As of today, 8/15, I still cannot determine what my true Rx is. The LC doctor gave me a handrwitten script, so I went to order them thru 1800CONTACTs. LensCrafters gave 1800CONTACTs the wrong Rx (and they admit it) but no one can tell me what the correct Rx is. One gal at LC told me yesterday, that I have not been in to LC yet this year ! These people at LensCrafters are horribly confused. I will not be back. Ever. read more

We used this lenscrafters for the entire family and were very pleased with the doctors. I will say that one of the staff was not the best at customer service or even keeping up with us as we moved through the process. They are trying to make things better and I would encourage you to try it out if it's close. Mention to the Drs about what you read here and they will be more than helpful. The whole staff helped me pick out a pair of glasses (they have cool technology too that allows you to see yourself in four pairs of frames one next to the other to help make your decision!) that I get compliments on ALL the time.
