Been going to this business since moving to the area during COVID, with good results. The doctors are friendly and professional, as are the technicians who perform the various eye exam tests. My insurer provides benefits including lense replacements for a specified copay. When I asked for this service I was told - over 3 visits - different reasons why they wouldn't do this for me; 1. They don't replace lenses in frames bought elswhere (my frame was bought about a year before from this location!) then... 2. They don't replace lenses in broken frames (my frame is not broken/damaged) then... 3. I needed a new eye exam (I had 2 exams by them in the past 6 months!) then... 4. Why did I need new lenses as the new prescription "was close to what the old lenses were" (wtf!) Lastly, the rude store manager told me that the business owner does not comply with this insurer-required benefit. I wish I had read Yano E's review before I went here! Agreed, doctor was nice; but I'm not sure he has all the modern equipment currently available in the field. As I was new to the area, and my eyeglasses were broken, I decided to give this place a try. What a mistake. The front staff is rude and you feel like they do not take your needs, feelings, or wants into consideration at all. They informed me that I needed a diabetic eye exam first, as I do have diabetes. I said fine. But I needed new glasses as mine were broken. They assured me that that would get taken care of but that I needed the diabetic exam first. So I went in yesterday. I expected to walk out with a prescription for new glasses. Upon arrival, I was informed that "oh no, you can't get a regular eye exam for the eyeglasses today! You'll have to come back another day for that. We will only do the diabetic eye exam today." I was appalled! Why was this not explained to me fully, and clearly on the phone? There was no "We're so sorry" or "We'll squeeze you in for the eyeglass exam" or "how can we make this better for you?" This place does not have one iota of customer service! That is the feeling that I got, and will not return. There are so many other optical places that I could have chosen. I am sorry I chose this one. read more

I stopped by to purchase new sunglasses and tighten a pair of my reading glasses. I was told-need an appointment and in terms if tightening my frames they would only doit if I purchased them there. I'm a dual resident and needed a few things--would never give them my business. Horrific attitude. So many great places and this one isn't. read more

Good Doc..awful customer service...never will I go back as they never offered to adjust my glasses that cost 450 dollars even after I sent an email! I had to go to Lenscrafter at Monmouth Mall that has the best dude that fits glasses named Gustav!! He is excellent! read more

Staff was soooo rude. Was basically yelled at just because I wanted to look at glasses. Also I ordered glasses through them and they said they would call after 2 weeks. finally after waiting for three weeks I had to call Them and inquire about my glasses. they told me they were ready. Went here for the first time today and got the old Bait and Switch. I was supposed to have an appt with Dr. Edelsberg, but when I arrived was surprised to find another doctor in the exam room. Although he was friendly and good at explaining what he was doing, the full exam was quick and hardly thorough. I also had no idea who worked there and who didn't, and who was responsible for what. The doctor wore jeans and a sweater. For all I knew he could've been another patient. The women outside not only lacked name tags or anything to identify themselves as employees, but also lacked basic customer service skills. When I asked one woman for help who had previously addressed me, she simply said "one of the women up front". I guess that meant she didn't care to be bothered. I would NOT recommend this place and will not return. read more

I apologize for the length of my review i just want whoever is to be reading this and thinking about going here to be aware of my experience and make their own decision from there. I never go out of my way to write a bad review about anywhere I go because I'm just not that guy and usually am not bothered by anything to that extent, however this truly inconvenienced me and my job. I even waited a week to see if it still bothered me enough to post a review. Anyhow here we are...first thing said to me as i sat down in the eye doctors chair is "I want to run a couple tests to make sure the diabetes are not affecting your eyesight" I explain to the doctor that he is not performing any of those tests because I have never been diagnosed with diabetes and he must not have the correct file or chart in front of him, So he went up to the reception area/patient intake area to get the correct file and chart...turns out not only do they not have my chart or file they do not know where it is. I explained to them both that I have taken multiple eye exams here since I was much younger all the way up to two years ago. At that point the secretary came back with the doctor and advised me that they are unsure what my insurance covers. They tell me the only thing that would be covered today is the eye exam not the contacts exam or a pair of glasses and to get anything further it must be done at another point in time due to it being 4:00 and that they will be closing soon. I had to make my appointment 2 weeks in advance which is due to Covid-19 restrictions and the maximum capacity being at 50% which is fine and I understand but When I provided my insurance information to them over the phone and they were unsure of what my insurance covered they should have relayed this information to me so I could address this with my employer and insurance company before-hand so that I could go into the appointment and provide them with whatever they needed. I will not be going here ever again and felt like my time was wasted. Just my personal experience and I want to add the doctor was very nice and explained everything to me I believe every issue I had was due to clerical errors that had nothing to do with the doctor himself. I ordered designer frames. When I picked them up there was no case or certificate of authenticity. I did not receive what I paid for. Suspicious these frames where a closeout item. I was told the case will be ordered but that is just wrong. People who purchase designer products want the entire experience. The worse part was if I didn't refuse the generic case I was receiving nothing would have been said. Very disappointing experience. read more

Horrible customer service. My son's glasses broke three times. If you want rude service and cheap glasses that break this is the place. The person over the phone answered my question regarding my son's eye care by saying, "because you just have to..." The most uneducated staff I've ever encountered in a doctor's office. read more

I was very happy with my experience at Optical World. The eye exam was thorough and the doctor was very nice. The selection of eyeglasses was excellent. I wanted designer frames. The staff helped me choose a pair of Oliver Peoples. I am very happy with my new glasses. I returned to purchase sunglasses. I was equally happy with my experience. I was able to purchase Maui Jim frames at a good price. read more

Use caution! The staff at Optical World are worthless. I came in for an appointment, Dr was friendly and had my exam, no issues. Then proceeded to order frameless glasses. First pair arrived damaged. They were sent back. Second pair arrived and before going to the store, I asked the staff to confirm the glasses were fixed. They confirmed and I arrived and the glasses were damaged. These were not small damages but painfully noticeable ones where the frames were out of alignment. Yet the staff confirmed they had checked them? 6 weeks later and nothing. No replacement glasses, no follow up, no ownership by the office. Total visit was over $600 including the glasses and if not for Amex protecting me, this office would have been happy to try and keep my money. And I'm still working with my insurance to get me deductible for my frames returned! I now understand why LensCrafters is a decent solution. The office staff at Optical world are as clueless as they are worthless and you are simply $$ to them. Go elsewhere! read more

I had a good office visit. The doctor was helpful in prescribing contacts. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They helped me pick out a pair of Tom Ford glasses. My glasses and contacts were ready to be picked up after a week. read more
